Is there a section for exhibit 2 4g. When i plug my usb to labtop i get a mtp driver error makes it impossible to root. Please help. My vibrant connects fine.

do you have the required drivers installed?...i don't have that phone..but just a suggestion..
more info please
Im guessing i do not have the right drivers. I tried samsung website could not find them. This Sgh-t679 did not come with the drivers in the box. I have windows 7 labtop. Keep in mind on my vibrant my labtop automaticly installed them. It errors out every time with mtp error. I hate not being able to root.

I got no luck with the drivers part but here is a thread where you can download a zip to root it. Hate to send someone outside of XDA but Root is Root.
http://androidforums.com/exhibit-4g...8-anyone-root-samsung-exhibit-ii-4g-t679.html
Just reading through that thread though it seems that the Superuser.apk might be out of date. If so you can get the Update Fixer from the market. This actually worked for me when I updated Chainsdd SU.
Or you can go here too AndroidSU.com
Edit: On post 19 is says this, "but you can just download the drivers for the Exhibit (T659) and it will work with the Exhibit II as well"

Try looking here
http://androidforums.com/samsung-exhibit-4g/
They might be able to help sense there is no thread here for that phone.
Thank you for your help but a zip is pointless if my labtop does not
Recognize my device. I need to get the driver first. And that has been my problem. I will keep looking :-(

You can download the zip over 3g/wifi and root it that way without ever plugging into your computer. At least then you will be rooted and problem#1 willbe solved.

How would i flash a zip with out cwm or being rooted? Googling drivers is the easiest way to get virus and spyware. I tried your links though i refuse to install a program that does a driver scan then tells me i have 22 errors and i have to pay to fix them. None the less thanks for helping.

You can flash an Update.zip through stock Recovery. If face I think it is call "Install Update.zip".
What you install or not is up to you. You asked and me and Big Dog both answered with links. If you don't want to use them that is fine. On your own. Good luck and let me know if you need anything else causeI am alwys willing to help.
How do i get to stock recovery? On my vibrant i had to flash bootloaders from odin. Which requires usb to labtop lol.

Hi, sorry to thread hijack but I also have this tablet, now I'm new to the world of android and rooting. But I have tried Superoneclick and it either won't work or it freezes on step 2. I tried a japanesey program and that said success but checked with root checker and no luck, I also tried a package someone had put together and that gave me superuser but still root checker said no.
To get the drivers for my tablet I used Moborobo and it downloaded them automatically. I assume I put the device into recovery mode correctly hold down vol + plug in usb and press power 10 times and the android appears which has fallen over? Well I got this image anyways and tried again but the japanesey program didn't even recognise and superoneclick just froze again at the same point, step 2.
Is there anything you could suggest? Or anyone know a fool proof way of rooting these tablets. I am new so might need a little more explanation than most, I read something about using scripting and I have no idea where to even start with that.
Thanks in advance,
Mike
So, I have the SHG-I777 and I had stock 4.0.3 but the cellphone started to reboot over and over again so I made a factory reset wipe cache and those things and the cellphone was working fine until today.
It started to reboot, I think it was on a loop (Sorry for the bad english) And I Couldnt do anything with it, I made factory reset again and it turned on but in safe mode and every process in the cellphone just stopped I wasnt even able to select a launcher..
It rebooted lots of time again and now it just stays in the "Siyah Kernel" screen.. Now I cant do anything andddd the laptop does not recognize it so I cant use Odin .. I trough that I could flash the stock 4.0.3 again via recovery mode but I dont know how to do it.. or if I should flash another Rom or a custom rom.. the only thing that I can do with the cellphone is to get into recovery mode.
help?
Have you gotten into download mode? More importantly, Have you read the stickies on the forums yet?

Didn't have time to read important information about modding your phone and then messing with it anyway? I love it. Well make time to read because the answer to your questions are in there

I just replied to someone else in another thread. Ill point you there. Your ignorance astounds me. You didn't have the TIME? But you expect all of us that did have the time to read the rules, the stickies, and all the inportant information to help you since obviously our time is less VALUABLE than yours? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39916674#post39916674
Am I doing it right?
I've read the stickies (Im sorry for not doing that before), I'm still looking for a solution, I'm dowloading kies in another computer to see if the pc actually recognizes my phone, so I can be sure that the problem is my laptop and not the phone... if it does I'll just flash with odin a stock rom.. I'll update here the results.

The root method works, sounds like you need to educate yourself on how to use ADB correctly.

Odin does not install to your computer, it simply launches.
What OS are you on? If you're on Windows Vista or 7 it should work perfectly, I don't know if it'll work on XP. On Mac I believe you use Heimdall. On Linux you use Heimdall.

The toolkit can be dangerous just because it had an unreleased firmware (it was what Samsung used to test the phone before they started selling it) that was the "return to stock" firmware, and I'm unsure if the creator ever removed it so it still probably has it, and was completely unrootable by all of our exploits, unable to be unlocked, and unable to be flashed in Odin so there is no way to get back to stock.
While the other things in the toolkit haven't had as many big complaints as the "return to stock" feature I still wouldn't use it. If it has that there is no telling what else is going on behind the scenes.

I know when I used it for Verizon it had 3 options I believe. But if he has the files downloaded already then I was simply recommending to see if this woukd run Odin on his pc.

This is the thread for droidstyle's guide to restore to stock. Has Odin download and all necessary files. Shangrila is right, be careful with that toolkit. Personally, I would stay completely away from it.

So as you all know the sense 5 update just came out today, which is great! Except for me... I've tried installing the update 2 times and it downloads perfectly fine. Then I click install now and it boots into recovery. It says "installing updates from Verizon wireless" or something like that. It gets half way through the bar and then quits out and goes to the little picture of a phone and the red triangle with the exclamation point in it right above the little phone. I have tried waiting to see if anything happens and then phone just shuts down and reboots into sense 4+. I am running stock recovery(just flashed back from twrp using .torrented's recovery) and I am moonshined. Any help would be appreciated very much.

I think error 410 means something it's looking for is missing, could be the modified hboot. Try the stock hboot.
Use this to flash the stock hboot then go back into recovery and see if the update finishes the install.

I am also having trouble updating. I was on a sense 5 ROM, then recovered to my stock ROM once I heard the update was out. I did all of the OTA updates, and the final one caused my phone to freeze at the HTC loading screen when the phone is turning on. Can someone help?

I believe you can, I'm not sure if the drivers in that app are the most current but it won't hurt to try.
Do you have USB debugging on? Also try a different USB port and/or USB cord.

I tried that. For some reason the drivers don't seem to be installing. The thing is it recognizes my phone when im in android but not when I am in hboot
Use fast boot instead.
I'm sorry that's what I meant. In the toolbox I go to flash hboot, base 2.06, and then it says waiting for device. Flashboot USB shows up on my phone, but it says Windows was unable to recognize device because it malfunctioned the last time it was plugged in.
Restart the computer.
I have multiple times.. this is extremely frustrating
What is your computer's OS?
Windows 8.1
Those have been troublesome. Is that the same computer you used to s-off?
Try a Windows 7 computer.
Yes this is the same computer I used to get S-off. Just connected to a different computer (still windows 8) and I still got the message "USB device not recognized. The last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it."
