Ok so Here is a link to Cyanogen Mod 7 which is a custom rom for all New xperia's imo probably the best custom rom out there. This will require you to have an unlocked boot loader on your phone.
Your second option is to root your device and remove the systems apps you dont like with titanium backup available off the android market.

1. Just use flashtool to flash a stock firmware for your handset. FlashTool
2. As for multiboot im not sure sorry.
3. You can use titanium backup and try, although its not garunteed to work.
4. If you are planning to flash cm7 it will be pre-rooted after the flash. all you need is unlocked boot loader.

Just have in mind that if you unlock your bootlocker (wich is essential if you are planing to put CM) you gonna lose your warranty.
About task manager, you can use Advanced task killer, who is avaliable at android market for free. There u can manage what process you want to leave running and wich one you want to be killed.
With rooted phone you can uninstall some of the system programs, just like Facebook
Here is the thread about unlocking:

So basically if i use this tool i want lose warranty as far as i dont touch bootlocker????
I downloaded some task managers of the market but when i kill apps they restart automaticaly.
One more question.
If i root it uninstall apps via titanium can i restore the apps by wipeing the phone???
THX

Yes, that is correct. You wont lose your warranty as long as you don't touch bootlocker. And with that tool I linked to you, you can easily root your phone and unroot it when ever you like (tested myself).
Some applications will always return back to process tree, simple as, thats how they work
For example, facebook is always in background to notify you about notifications and those things, even if you didn't set up an facebook account, he will always be in background.
That's stupid, I know, but that doesn't suck your battery or similar.
You can always restore all Google applications with ClockworkMod recovery.
Here's the link for CWM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1345741
And here is the link for google applications:
http://goo-inside.me/gapps/

Lets get rid of the stupid things.
First of all there is a data notification whenever you boot the phone.(how to pooooooof its gone)
second there is notification when i turn on gps that might be some internet trafic involved. (if i turn off data plan is there posibily some internet trafic going on) is it gps or only agps?
third i know this phone is storeing all data how do i read it any viewer?

Download Super User and Titanium from the market. Try to freeze some of your bloatware. If it let's you, you are rooted.
when i open superuser should i expect to see apps in the app tab? superuser opens but i see no apps in the app tab.

You won't see any till they request permission.
Dead give away to if you're rooted is that when you flashed the second PG05IMG.zip the top of the screen would have said "s-off".
This will tell you if you have root or not:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.joeykrim.rootcheck&feature=search_result
Also, if you download apps like Titanium Backup, it requires root to function properly, so you'd know then too.
Some of the programs that you would want is kernel manager and clockwork manager. Read through dev. Forum and decide which kernel and rom u want to be running. If ur rooted why stay pn stock.

If you power on your phone while holding the volume down button, you will load into the bootloader. At the top it should say "MECHA XD ENG S-OFF" at the top. You are rooted.
As the others said, install ClockworkMod and TitaniumBackup.
TitaniumBackup will allow you to freeze (Or uninstall) bloatware that was put on your phone. I usually just freeze the apps because uninstalling can sometimes cause issues. Look at the app in titanium and tap on it, which will bring up a menu. Hit "Freeze" and it will stop the program, remove it from your app drawer and not load it in the future. TB also allows you to backup your apps (And sync them to your dropbox if you have one).
Clockwork mod is what you use to flash ROMs. ROMs are customized UI's for your phone that can add or take away a number of features. I personally use Das Bamf 1.6, which is amazing. A ROM that retains the "Sense" UI will still look a lot like the native HTC screen, keeping many of the features. A "Desensed" screen removes HTC's UI, causing it to be the more native Andoid phone OS (Think Nexus 1).
ROMs can also add features such as over/underclocking the processor, different animations (Startup, etc) and adding modes like "Hibernate."
To install a ROM, first backup your current ROM.
Open ClockworkMod>Scroll down and hit "Backup Current Rom">Enter backup name (Usually the date, but you can name it whatever)
It will ask you if its ok to restart into CWM recovery. Hit yes. The phone will restart and Clockwork will back up your settings. After that you can restart the phone and it will start up your phone like normal again.
Now that you have a back up (In case you hate the rom you install or something goes wrong) you can install a ROM! To do that we go back to ClockworkMod.
Hit the button labeled "Download ROM." This will bring up a number of ROMs that have been linked into CWM. For this example I will use das BAMF. Hit das BAMF and you will see many different versions. If you hit one of them, it will download the ROM and CWM will flash it. CWM will ask you if you want to clear all data. Adrynalyne says you do not need to, and I have not needed to, but if you have problems, reflash and wipe all data first with the options.
Kind of a quick an dirty. There are much better guides here on the forums for doing all of this. Search the forums. Read carefully.
thanks for the info. with your help i am indeed rooted.
a stickey regarding this would be helpful and appreciated. included would be whether or not a rooted thunderbolt could possibly be "bricked" with any verizon/htc updates. are there issues with manufacture updates of rooted phones?
Congrats on being rooted! I rooted my Thunderbolt within 2 hours of buying it! A little observation I have made is that my Thunderbolt loses 3G more often after updating the Radio. I have tried everything to remedy this situation, ie all different assortments and variations posted here on XDA.

Phone bricked after using ROM manager!

Hello, i have installed miniCM9 on my phone and tryed to get in on some normal speed. First i used advanced task manager. But than i founded RAM manager it looks prety safe. I installed it and changed some settings. than i get message reboot for apply and i thought wy not. And now device is stuck on bootloop.
Problem my nandroid is 2 day's out and i have done a lot for getting it on what speed.
My question is witch files that program can have patched? So that i can restrore them with ZIP.
update: tryed to reflash service.jar and build.prop. Not worked. i reflash nandroid :'(.
Hi Thomas,
I had real problem to stop programs on system-start.
I tried several programs to disable auto-start-programs even one paid. Soem program is running as service and some just run once.
Stop, disable, might cause the system not able to start. That is why I am no longer doing that, Now I disable only the definitive programs like the Novel or game. dont touch anything possible has anything to do with system...
why dont u just reinstall everything? you have everything backuped on your google account right?
good luck!
Ram manager or rom manager???

[Q] WT19i with android 2.3.4 to android 4.0.4?

Hi everyone. I am new here and a complete noob about android and I need a little help. I don't even know where to start.
First... I wanna tell you some information about my phone.
Model: Sony Ericsson Live (WT19i)
Android: 2.3.4
Build Number: 4.0.2.A.0.62
Hmm... What I wanted to do is make my phone fast and longer battery life... Please give me a list of apps that you suggest me to download, like Easy task killer, Easy battery saver, etc... Also give me the list of best apps you know for optimization... Less apps, much better (because I don't wanna have 2 task killers, 2 file managers, etc.).
I also wanted to upgrade my android to ICS(4.0.4), but I don't know how to do that.
One more thing is that I am still confused about the roms, kernels, rooting, firmwares, stock, CWM, etc... Can you please enlighten me about them. Like pros and cons.
Questions: (will update and bump if I added another)
1. If I install rom like for example MIUI will that upgrade my Android from 2.3.4 to somewhere?
Thanks!
@edit: Also, could you give me a step by step guide on making my phone better.
e.g.
1. download this
2. root
3. unlock your bootloader
4. do this and that
5. install this kernel
6. install this rom
7. download this app
8. do this and that
(please be more specific because I'm a real noob. Thanks!)
Just connect with your computer and pc companion says that an upgrade to ics is available... (depends on your country)

1. root is a must! There are alot of tutorials on how to do it. It comes to this: downgrade to .42 or .58 using flashtool, root using doomlords exploit, prepare it for ICS (with xperiaroot) - to insure you keep root on ICS, then upgrade to ICS with flashtool
2. once you're on ICS and with root access, only sky is the limit I would suggest you to install CWM recovery and back up your rom, just in case
3. once you back it up, feel free to remove all the unnecessary bloatware that is useless to you, but is running in the background and draining your power
4. install mods that makes access to switches (wifi, 3g, display brightness, gps...) very easy - Quickpanel statusbar
All tutorials can easily be found in general area, just take your time and go through them.
Dont use task killers, they dont work as well as they seem to... They kill your apps, and those same apps just restart (meanwhile using extra power for that) and they're back there again. Android can handle ram on it own, if it needs extra memory, it'll automatically kill unused apps.

Planning to install Honamify on LWW request help

I am thinking of installing an alternate ROM called Honamify which is based on Android 4.4 CyanogenMod posted in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2602727
The problem is that I am totally confused after reading about the whole process. I need some guidance from experienced users/developers on how to go about this.
Here are some facts :
- The phone is Sony Ericsson Live With Walkman updated to the last official Ice Cream Sandwich build.
- It has been rooted with eRoot toolkit and most of the applications have been linked to a 2nd ext2 partition on SD card. Some applications like Facebook which were system applications have been converted to user applications and also have been linked to SD card using Link2SD. All updates to system applications have been integrated into system storage.
- The phone bootloader is currently locked.
Here are my questions :
1. Is it possible to take a complete backup of the phone in its present state so that if whatever is done later is unsuccessful it can be restored back to the present state?
2. I understand that it is necessary to unlock the bootloader before installing another ROM. But doing so may cause loss of data and DRM and other features according to Sony. And some posts mention taking a backup of TA partition before unlocking. What is that and how to do it?
3. Some tools show that the phone already has some sort of recovery installed but some others say no. Does this phone come with some factory installed recovery? If not how to install one? Clockworkmod?
4. Will it be possible to have a multiboot setup so that I can select whether to boot the stock or custom ROM?
5. Can we live without the Google applications? Or can we selectively install only some of the Google applications?

1 Yeah. If you have enabled cwm recovery option on your phone. You can just take a backup your whole phone(Of Course excluding the memory card) from the backup and restore menu and restore it later.
2 No data will go if unlock properly. Drm might go if you do it the official way. Chill just remove your sd card before unlocking and remember to backup your wahtsapp chats and sms and contacts(use google sync for contacts) You can reinstall everything again.
3 No. You have to install one. Clockworkmod, ie cwm,Once you unlocked your phone you can just flash custom kernels that come with preinstalled recovery menus
4 Its possible. But its not worth doing it on a 2011 device. Trust me . Youll have to do **** with the sd card as the system doesnt have enough space to hold more than one rom plus we dont really have dualboot kernels.
5 Go to google search and type yourzgapps and click the first link. Even 4.4 gapps are there in the download link its just not mentioned in the thread. Theyre very lite only with essential google apps. Its like only a 14mb download. And yeah you cant live without google apps especially the playstore?
Thanks yash.
How to flash a custom kernel? Using Flashtool software on Windows?
Yeah anytime.
Yes use flash tool. Drivers dont work on windows 8.1 but. So it'll be sad if youre on it
Sent from my WT19i using xda app-developers app
No I have Windows XP on the desktop and 7 on laptop. Both have multiple versions of PCLinuxOS. But I suppose Linux usage here would entail command line.
I suppose if I sit down and do it once I would become confident.
wait for next Honamify update
I've setup Honamify v2 on my live with Walkman. It's good, but look like it has some issue with "google play" compatibility check
For example, My phone can easy install Candy Crush Saga with brand Sony ICS Rom or LegacyXperia (the one Honamify base on).
But in Honamify v2, Google Play said my device don't support.
If you fan of Games. Think twice before install. Or you need to know how to edit buid.prop to make your device compatiblity (not easy with newbie like me)
Ok. Google Play compatibility is critical. Good to know beforehand.
What about other basic functions such as Bluetooth, WiFi, camera etc? Do they work well? Battery life?
pros: battery life, smoothness, wifi strength
It has better battery life then ICS base
Much smoothness then ICS other base Honamify ROM
The corlor in launcher is not real and beautiful like the sony ICS base.
WIFI is stronger with more access point discover in range.
Camera is OK but not much better than cybershot
Look like author has some fix, since link to part 1 has been remove.
Let's wait
for game that not pass compatibility device checking of Google play. I google apk file to download and install. It work. A bit compilicated and hard to update. But at least it ok to play.
Worth for the smooth and GUI of thís ROM.
or you can try to install my newly release rom.. as for the moments it's for LWW only but will support other mdpi's soon..just click my signature

Do you have the zip file of the ROM that you put on your phone? If so, you can edit the zip file using 7zip (find the apps folder) and flash that, making sure that the signature verify is turned off. This is how I used to do it on my phone, but have recently updated to using 4Ext and still finding my way around this app, but it's got app removal built in (I think).
Hope this helps :good:

Not at all, we all have to start somewhere. I'm not particularly technical myself so I will try and help as much as I can.
When you say you have rooted your phone, have you also install a custom ROM on your phone as well? To do this, you should have had a zip file that you used to flash the ROM to the phone.
I would create a copy of the ZIP file, in case you go wrong. Open up the ZIP file using 7zip (or something similar, I suggested this one as I know you can delete files from the zip file, but some other programs won't do this).
You show see two folders, click on system and then click on the app folder. You need to be careful in what you delete as it might force the phone to crash out (hence make a copy of the ZIP file, and have both of them on your phone). Simply delete the apps you don't want and then save and flash the ROM on your phone (you will need to turn off signature verify for it to work, but I'm not sure where there will be in your menu's as I don't know what recovery you are using, it's normally under "other").
Does this make anything more clearer?
If not, please explain exactly what you have done in terms of rooting and flashing a ROM.

In order to understand what it is that you want to archive, could you please tell me why you rooted your phone?
I ask as, unless you have a copy of the stock ROM, once you have flashed a ROM, you won't be able to go back to the original ROM. If you are happy to go ahead, I suggest you look around for ROM's that will work on your phone. Depending on what you want from a ROM (small size, quick loading or lots of gadgets and tweaks), you should be able to find one already working to how you would like. Some ROM's do not have any Google apps or YouTube and only have basic apps to run the phone (I had a ROM call Redux that was like this), other ROM's have many features (I've had a ROM called MIUI that was like this). If you find a ROM you like, it is better to leave the apps as they are.
I can try and help you with how to flash the ROM if you get stuck, but I did not use the superoneclick way.
As I said first, why do you want to remove apps?

Hmmmmmm, there are other things you could try if you are having issues with your phone.
I have an app called Autostarts and you can stop apps from booting when the phone is restarted or when other things happen (like a change in signal).
I also have another app called Battery Mix which is very good at finding out what apps are running and draining the battery or taking up CPU usage.
I also have another app called Quick System Info which you can set up so that when you click end tasks, it only ends tasks that you've selected (you put them on a supervise list), which is very handy if you have things like 3G monitoring or clocks that might crash if you kill them.
Maybe you need to root the phone in a different way. Try reading this

I know someone who has tried a method similar to yours and had issues, whereas I've rooted and even s-off (I have a HTC desire and s-off (sense off) is a security feature on that.
You could try this

Or this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1767975 (this might not be Gingerbread but the features between each one aren't that noticable, but this ROM might make your phone run faster, as I said before, you need to think about what you want from the phone, speed or gadgets)
