I completely took the pen apart and put it back together. I wouldn't recommend this unless you have a lot of patience.

Apps With Digital Pen after HC Update

Will someone with HTC official HC confirm for me that "PDF Viewer", "Gallery", and "Notes" all work with the pen like they did prior to HC?
I use "Gallery" and "PDF Viewer" a lot at work and if the digital pen no longer works then I won't upgrade.
Tried searching the forums and youtube to no avail.
thanks.

Sketchbook Pro is amazing on the flyer. Pen pressure support = win.
I spent a good while familiarising myself with all the threads about the differences between GB and HC, finally took the plunge and updated to HC. I really needed the stylus to work... And it does! The pen Sense UI is activated by clicking on the hardware button bottom right, which now shows a menu of options to take a screenshot, use notes, or open the pen options menu.
The Flyer feels like it now behaves like it always should have done.

better pen drawing by cloth
Hi all, I found that if wrap the pen's nipple with a small piece of cloth. it helps a lot better perfomance of the pen. Let's try with this trick and have fun in smooth draw on SBM.
I really have enjoyed the pen but when I changed to a new battery (energizer), I found the pen to be way too sensitive. Draws when you are a couple mm from the screen. Anyone else experience this. I put the old energizer battery back in and all is well.

Sounded interesting so tried it, but it made pen make marks even when not touching the screen; too sensitive, like Ishman mentioned with a fully charged energizer battery. Maybe it's the type of cloth I used, with too much synthetic material in it. What did you use?

You might get lucky and actually find an entire Rezound for parts for cheap if you look around. People get rid of these things all the time for broken screens or whatever else.

+1. Same here. Popped it out to fix screen issues one too many times and red wire is now loose.
Just found this and ordered one. Will report back whether it works. Willing to take a $7.75 (incl. shipping) chance, since most of the "as is" and/or "for parts" rezounds are desparately overpriced you-know-where. Note also, Repairs Universe does *not* carry this vibrate motor.

Nope, not yet. I did, however, secure an Evo 3D motor elsewhere and installed it today. Works just fine.
There are others still there. Here's what my search results revealed just today.
I think the units with the white connectors that match the Rezound connectors are probably fairly stock. I'm getting ready to sell the Rezound I replaced it in (bad proximity sensor; already have a replacement unit), but if I still have it when this other one arrives from overseas, I'll give it a whirl (unless I can tell from looking at it that it's the same thing), and report back.
Anything on this could help me too. It seems mine has malfunctioning vibrator too. I haven't noticed this until weekend, I had stock and not having so much calls so I can't say if it vibrates good, I flashed Cyanogenmod and notice the bug, in stock it doesn't vibrate and I'm thinking this is hardware related so your info will be valuable

Sorry for the super late reply. Ended up getting a s3 and put the rezound in the draw. Just went and revived it and fixed the screen and got a vibrator motor for it from ebay. It seems like almost all htc motors work. I got an EVO 3d one and it works like a charm.

May take you up on that - my motor is almost completely dead. I see where it is when the back cover is off - is it just a matter of removing the four small screws on the red shield to get to the motor?

It's 6 screws, but yes, that's it. It's easily visible once you remove that plastic plate. Using a small flathead screw-driver you can pull the connector from the port, and the motor itself lifts easily out of the mount. Then all you do is plug in the replacement motor and slip it into position and you should be good to go.
We finally bought the replacement from etradesupply. This part seems to get easy damaged so I recommend every Rezound owner to get one replacement if he/she wants to have the Rezound for a couple of years
I gotta get a replacement also. I order one from Totobay also.
Stupid question from not a very handy guy, what screw driver do I need to open the back from the rezound?
thanks

I was able to successfully install the vibrator I got from Tatabay (took about a month to arrive from china). It fit fine but the attached cable is longer than the Rezound one which you must have to loop around. The main difference is tough that the weighted metal part that spins is actually smaller than the original and therefore the vibration it produces is more high pitched than the original. Not a huge deal but just thought I'll let you guys know that it's not exactly the same.

[Q] Screen Freeze when Hardware Keyboard Slides Out (sk17i)

Hello XDA Community!
I seem to be having a serious issue with my phone and cannot seem to find a solution online, so I am hoping that someone here will be knowledgable enough to assist me!
When I slide my keyboard out on my sk17i, my screen refuses to change orientation or respond to my touches. Having tested this further, it seems that it is the screen itself that will not change, but keys pressed and touches are registered. I have figured out that I can slide the keyboard out about 40% (just over the bottom row of letters) and the screen seems to change orientation to landscape AND responds visually to my touches. Any more than that and it just stops.
I looked online and someone suggested passing a magnet (fridge) over the keyboard. I did that and it worked once for about a minute. After that it returned to this state and there doesn't seem to be anything I can do about it. I have just put in an order for new facias and a new hardware keyboard to repair it as I have had it since the day it was released and some components are getting on a bit.
Does anyone know what the issue is? I only can think of one thing and that is a flex cable issue, but I cannot be sure at all...
I'd appreciate any help that can be given!
At first glance, yes, seems like a flex cable/ribbon issue. You screen will remain frozen when the keyb is completely open because the framebuffer stops receiving signal from the motherboard. It wont take long until your screen shows artifacts or goes completely blank even when the keyb is closed. Your touch digitizer might also be affected by a bad flex cable.
I suggest you replace it as soon as possible, but don't try to do it yourself unless you have experience repairing phones. I tried to do mine and ruined the LCD display, making my repair cost three times as much
PD: magnet over the keyb? never heard of that.

Many thanks for that! The flex cable is out of stock right now, so that is quite worrying, I hope it lasts the next month or so! I think I should be okay with repairing it, since I've worked with very small and delicate electronics before in Engineering. Just will have to be super extra careful! Any advice about what to watch out for?
And yup, magnet seemed to work once, I saw it on a very old thread, but that was the only advice given there.
Well, good luck! Be extremely careful with the display though, the original display assembly has unprotected corners and borders on the LCD so it's very easy to break it, especially on the lower side near the softkeys. Replacement parts often come with plastic and/or metallic protectors on them, which help keeping the LCD safe. Guess SE never meant for people to crack the phone open hehe.
again, good luck with that.

Replacing a flex ribbon/cable on the mini pro is no easy task, requires patience and steady hands when sticking the big square part onto the metallic slider while making sure all of the other components (home button, camera, led and sensors) keep aligned in place. Do it wrong and you're in for an even more tedious mission haha.
PD: here's a crappy pic from when I did mine

Well, after a cracked front facia (thanks to the previous repair that I had on it two years ago), and my temperamental lights, my phone works a charm! Replaced the flex cable, motherboard mount and hardware keyboard. Once again, thank you so much for your advice, I have decided to hang around this place much more often!

Noticed a new glitch with my phone though... the softkey and keyboard lights start to light up when I switch the screen on, but as soon as the screen switches on the lights switch off?
Never heard of such problems. What rom are you on?
I am running a stock gingerbread 2.3.3 rom, just rooted it a year ago. No other changes, apart from shoving CWM onto it for backup/restore
Hey guys, I just saw this post after hours of frustration!, I recently changed my damaged slider mechanism on my sk17i and I had to transfer the ribbon cable from the one mechanism to the other but I glued it with 2mm adhensive that is used for screen, and the problem is when I open the phone it is always on landscape mode, like the phone thinks the keyboard is always out! Before I tried this repair
everything worked perfect
How the phone understands if the keyboard is out or not?
Please tell me what I could have done wrong, I would appreciate your help here!
Sorry for my bad english
Thank you in advance!!!
I've been trying to figure that out myself too, it seems to be some kind of optical sensor. Whatever it is, it just works for me hehe.

Welcome to XDA.
Like Pixelado said, it is probably an optical sensor. My advice would be to disassemble the phone again (without unsticking the flex cable though) and make sure everything is back in its correct place. It make just be something is a little out of place, which is very easy to do! Good luck!

[Q] Can I use a different model digitizer?

SCH-i605 But I'd like to use an N7100 or T899 Model digitizer, as I have credit for Amazon, and would like to order one, as no one has answered my question yet about digitizer working or not... Can't afford the whole assembly unfortunately.
Should not have a problem there. The real difference between the models is the modem and cpu used in the international versions. The frame and screen are the same for all of them.

YES! yes it does... and capacitive buttons work.
Then I would rule out the digitizer. It wouldn't read any inputs if it was that. I would perhaps wipe cache and dalvik and see if that helps.

Did a factory reset.... gonna try just a lens, and if it still doesn't work, then I'll get the digitizer.
Also, I checked for sub cracks, but the LCD (? LED?) is fine, and there's no sub cracks that are visible at different angles.
Wouldn't figure that since you said your s pen works on the whole screen. Could be just a glass issue since it's a capacitance screen but good luck getting that separated from your digitizer and lcd.

Heat gun works right? the glue de bonds or what not at like 170-180 ? I've done this on an S4 before.
It is possible but with great care. I personally have never had much luck with a heat gun. They do make a machine like a hot plate for that purpose. Been looking into it but have never moved forward.
Well I hope to do good, but again if I have issues I will just get a replacement. I will try again with digitizer if I Bork it some how .

What note? Get it? Lol. But seriously what size piano wire? I am hoping that I don't need a digitizer, and I've been left with the impression that if the s-Pen works 100% that the digitizer is fine. So I'm hoping if I replace this glass, I can touch it again. I would really hate to do this, just to have to do it again.

Wacom CS710B Bamboo Tip

As a long-time Note user, it can be difficult to be without that S-Pen. It's that pen that's kept me on the Note series since day one. I still have my Note 9 but I really enjoy the software experience on the 6T so I wanted to look for a stylus that could come as close as possible to the ease of use as the S-Pen.
Enter this Wacom pen. I'm so glad I took a chance on this thing. You need to charge it out of the box but I tested it right away before I did. It worked perfectly on my Note 9 and just as good on the 6T. I was texting (using swipe method, Swiftkey) SO FAST, just like on my Note using the S-Pen. I tried it with a couple of games and it was doing everything I wanted it to.
Response is super fast. I didn't notice any lag. In the instructions it does mention that if you do notice some stutter or lag to flip the switch near the top of the pen. I'm assuming that makes the pen draw out some more power. But I didn't need to do that during my testing.
I think using a stylus like the S-Pen and this Wacom pen is the best way to interact with a phone's display. Your display accumulates less grim from your fingers and it helps keep it more visibly clear. Carrying around the pen is no big deal for me. It fits in a pocket easy enough. I actually carry around the larger S-Pen from Samsung because I like to use a thicker pen. Makes it easier to write stuff.
Overall, if you're a Note user and you're having some S-Pen withdrawal this is the best alternative to use on our 6T. I'll report back on battery life later. The box says it takes 2 hours to fully charge so I'll see how long that charge lasts for. The pen automatically shuts off after not being used for a few minutes. You turn it on with one click of the button.
Has anyone else tried this pen yet? Share your thoughts, please. I'm happy to answer any questions. I got this on Amazon for $35.

Just a quick update. After a few days of regular use, no need to charge yet since I fully charged it on day one. After finally rooting I now have a wonderful software experience with an S-Pen-like experience I had on my Note 9.

Anything that's on the phone. It just acts like your finger. Unless you mean if there's an app needed in order to use this pen? Then no. No BT, no NFC. Just power on the pen and you're set. This is also useful because when I use my Note 9 or Tab S4 there are actually games that don't recognize the S-Pen and with this Wacom pen it works. So that's neat.
Another quick update. Since fully charging this pen on day one (Dec 13th) the battery finally ran out and needed a charge which only took a few minutes. I'm back in action with it.
Writing experience
Can you please share a video of writing using google handwriting input with the Wacom device on Oneplus?
Thanks in advance.
