Hi All,
I seem to have funny problem with certain items under Settings>>Call. I can't access some of the items there (Call rejection, Set reject messages, Call alert, Call answering/ending and Video call image). Each of those causes com.android.phone crash.
Anything else relating Phone.apk doesn't crashes at all. I am using rooted stock I4.
Anyone had such problems or maybe have some idea on fixing this. I didn't spent much time messing around with system itself, and although Phone.apk replacment seems like cure I am not sure how hard or dangerous is to extract it from some firmware and just replace it.
Thanks in advance,
Vladimir.

Try this..
go into settings->applications-->manage applications-->all-->call setting-->clear data..
I can't find such item in manage applications. Anyway I did few "resets" which cleared all data but didn't help.
Thanks.
No wonder no one else experienced this, since doubt anyone is dumb enough to rename CallSettings.odex.
Anyway, if someone succeeds and have same problem that is probably it!

I get a FC every time I end a call while running Gingerbread Clone RC2 (this happened when I was running GB Clone Beta 2 as well.
I have tried running fix_permissions, but get an error regarding a missing Packages.xml file:
"cat: can't open '/data/system/packages.xml': No such file or directory"
I have a feeling that this is all related, but can't seem to make any headway on the problem, and have been unable to find an answer after searching here and on Eugene's site...
Any insight??
Thank you!
Okay, so I found http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=9948250#post9948250, and was able to get fix_permissions to run. Still, though FC upon ending calls. Back to the drawing board.
Try disabling call tones under call settings.
Had this same problem a while back, and that fixed it. Don't know if that's still the case.
phew, thank you for the help. I don't know why I didn't do that before--I thought I had tried that, but apparently had not.
Much appreciated.
I'm pretty new to this phone, but the other day, I had to hard reset it.. The problem is, that when i'm texting people in conversation mode, when i send a message, it doesn't appear at the bottom of the list like it should, but rather at the top, with all my other sent messages..
This is getting rather annoying, because if i forget what I've text, i have to scroll all the way up to the top to see what i put..
Is there a way to fix this? I've tried deleting the thread, and it still does the same thing :/
Help would be appreciated!
I had same problem and finally flashed this new ROM. was easy to follow and fixed it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=651729
I've looked around for an answer, but I can't find it anywhere.
First of all, I have an HTC EVO 3D GSM.
I've had it for a few months now and noticed that the messaging app takes longer and longer to open messages.
The more texts there are, the longer it takes.
However, today the phone wouldn't open any threads, it would just get stuck on the "loading..." screen.
It's driving me insane cause I can't reply to any texts.
After that, all my contacts got wiped, no idea why. So I restored a v-card, however the contacts pictures didn't come back.
I'm considering doing a hard reset, but I really don't want to, because I've done it so many times with this phone. It's actually been causing me too many problems.
Does anybody know a fix to this texting problem? I'm willing to try anything, however I don't want to use a third party app for texting.
Should I just do a hard reset or will the problem come back after another month?
Thanks in advance.
TLDR. - I can't open messaging threads on the phone, it gets stuck on "Loading..."
How many messages were in your app before it started doing this? I find any time you get more than 1000 texts, it starts to run slow. At that point you should delete all your threads.
However, since you cant even get into it now, you may need to clear the data from the app in settings-apps-manage-messaging-clear data.
I would honestly do a factory reset. Or you could possibly have a malicious app on your phone that is causing those issues.
Evo3D.
Hate to bump this, but some people may find it useful.
The problem was that there were too many messages, so I used the app "SMS Backup and Restore."
If there's more than 500 messages, the app gets slow.
I had about 15000.. which explains why it kept freezing.
Thanks for the help.
Here goes. I have the 4.1.1 Omega v32-XXDLJ5 ROM with Siyahkernel v1.7rc2 on my I9300.
Now the problem is, the ROM was working perfectly without any hitches, but today when I tried using Google Voice app, the voice failed to take my input and kept asking me to tap the microphone icon onscreen. I can see that it is registering the voice (with the visual representation surrounding the microphone icon), but there is no feedback. Upon checking further I found that the same issue is with Samsung's Assistant as well. It is not providing any feedback.
Unfortunately that's not the end. I also found that the dictation in messaging etc. of Google voice isn't working either. So, basically, they all are listening to my voice but not providing any reply/feedback.
Same issue had happened to me before 10 days. At that time I had felt that I might have tweaked with some setting somewhere which resulted in this issue (did a nandroid restore to resolve it). But this time around, i haven't done anything which would have caused this issue.
Can anyone help me to find the cause of this issue, and if anyone knows what/where the fault is, your help in resolving this issue will be appreciated.
I know I can reflash the rom/restore the nandroid backup, but it also means having to re-install everything/some from scratch, which is a pain. And also, those don't identify the source of the problem. And this being the 2nd time, it might very well be repeated a 3rd or more number of times.
Did you try fix permissions in CWM.
I have the CWM 3.60, but i get a notice that this ver of CWM should be used with CF-CWM v1.1 or newer, so, various options have been diabled. Maybe that's why I don't have the fix permissions option. Any idea about this?
NB: Found the option in CMR and it fixed the issue right up. Thnx a lot buddy
I know there has been a few threads about this but I kind of know the reason to my problem but I'd like it resolved.
It's caused by an application from the GO Launcher EX people, Go Battery & Power Widget.
So, I know this is APP specific but I'm figuring that it's also phone specific as I don't see anyone else having this problem in specific with it in the past few months or updates. Last was march.
It worked just fine up until yesterday when it started freezing the phone with the screen on and the plastic LED thing underneath the menu buttons on my Xperia U, if it doesn't freeze it randomly reboots whenever it feels like it and I'm quite positive this will in the long run harm my battery, I might just be paranoid but I think that it has affected or overloaded a few of the LEDs inside of the screen I can now find 3 dead pixels, I know that ain't much but it's kind of annoying as you may guess.
So, anyone know what I could do to solve this issue without removing the program or if it's a compatibility issue with something else, any help at all would be swell - I would remove it if it were not for the fact that when it did work that it saved my battery quite dramatically.
Thanks in advance and thanks for reading my wall of text.

I just recently re-flashed my phone due to an annoying "update available" issue that wasn't removable, forcing me to create a backup, which I just now restored into the phone (It doesn't appear to be there now but the issue persist so now I'm confused as to what might be causing it)
Once again, I'd really like this resolved rather than factory reseting the phone and then start to re-fill it again.
Not quite counting the freezes and reboots, but it's well over 50 just today.
Hmm as u said that the problem existed even without go launcher so try logging when the screen freezes... We might see the problem there... Anyways I know you said you don't want to factory reset and stuff... But 50 above is harmful so I think flashing stock is a good idea
Cheers,
AJ
Have you tried removing the app itself to see that it stops freezes?
If so, then it is clear the app causes the problems. Then you should contact the developers of it, they shall have an email on google play.
If not, then I suggest you to go for a logcat and try to figure out what is the cause Sounds really weird and a stock reflash (without restore) seems to be the solution for me

I decided to re-flash it, went well and it's feeling healthier.
The problem was Xprivacy.

I had some freezing issues even without it, but I mucked about and re-flashed and now it feels better, but I'm still sure it was Xprivacy. Don't know why though.
