And what does pentile screen have to do with zoom? You do realize this is using digital zoom and it is crap?

Exactly. And..what does a picture taken with the phone's camera have to do with the screen? ...hmm.
This post is full of fail.
sorry but i don't really see your point.. this doesn't prove anything nor has to do with PenTile technology. your problem is called digital zoom so don't blame the screen if you don't know what you're talking about.
hi guys no need to be upset. it's just my initial thoughts... okay i admit digital zoom got nothing to do with the pentile display...i just noticed the pixelation seem to "look" like the pexilation of the pentile screen, but thats just my opinion.
cheers!

My laptop doesn't have pentile so I can't see what you're seeing... but I'll take your word for it.
hi sleek68,
please don't take my word for it. im no expert. you can always refer here -->www.pentileblog.com.
what i could say is that it may not be the best display out there. i has potential along with appropriate fonts and icons that will render nicely on your display.

I thought the OP wanted us to focus on the fence or something....lol
That screen shot isnt a good way to say its looks similar to Pentile.
You would be better off just taking a pic of your phone with another camera and hopefully get good detail.
And for me....letters and edges of icons is the only places where I can ...clearly....see it when held close. Held closer and its clearer on icons themselves.
Pic and clips....nothing.
Its not the display, its the camera and the JPEG rendering engine software.
Although it is 8 megapixels, it is not iPhone or SGS2 quality.
I notice the flaws in the pentile display when I am moving and zooming around in a Pdf file.
But I did get over 89,000 on the Browser Mark test.

Clean the lens, make sure you have good lighting as well.

"clean the lense" - my first thought. grainy regardless of lighting condition but not as grainy outside in natural sunlight.
Rule out the rom, 1.8.6 is mint for me.
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk
I've noticed pictures are grainy on any rom for the TB and on the Incredible. It seems to happen most when you do not have enough natural light or when you are zooming. Phones do not have optical zoom they have digital zoom and there is a difference. I think digital just adds more pixels where as optical actually magnifies.
I took this one zoomed about 3/4 of the way in today in bright sunlight using BaMF 1.8.6 Remixed. It's the only picture I've taken so far since flashing the rom though.

yeah just wish my pictures werent so grainy
Digital zoom is pretty much useless - its equivalent to just cropping the photo. The graininess I think you're referring to is noise, rather than pixelation. You get noise when the total amount of light that hits the sensor is low, and with the tiny sensor on the TB (and most phones in general), this is impossible to avoid in many cases.
I do remember talk with some GB roms a while back about overclocking to 1.4 GHz for better camera performance. Maybe this would help? I can't imagine it would hurt...
Can anyone post photos taken with their stock updated razr or their custom rom razr? I want to see how good they are because at first when i saw photos from the razr they were pretty bad.
I'm looking at getting a used razr... Possibly.
(upgrading from atrix)
RAZR is awesome...I was debating between this and nexus and I'm glad I took the RAZR. Battery life and performance is superb. With a little modifications the RAZR turns into exactly what your looking for. Even without the high density screen it still looks incredible I vote to get it

Clearly I am never in the best lighting when these come up. Outdoors its fantastic. Fairly impressed indoors. Camera is fast. After it focuses it is no shutter. Just snap away. But the first focus is fairly quick too
Only issues with this and all phone cameras is digital noise in low-light conditions.
I never have flash on. Rarely use it. Seems to wash out some. I even use the low light setting w no flash if lamps are on.
Which rom are you guys using?
Hmm, those photos hardly look better (if even better at all) than my 5mp Atrix
Lol is this any better? I'm sure tapatalk cuts the photo some. I have a better pic outside
Here's my ultra busy boy
I think it does cut them. I'm uploading thru the app.
Just confirmed it. Tapatalk cuts a lot out. I uploaded it and saved it and checked out the details according to quickpic. That's mainly why. All I can say is I am very satisfied w the camera and what you may see on the samoled screen isn't exactly how it will look if you send it thru gmail and view it.
A few recent photos of my run-in with a deer:
Both on GB firmware. Don't have any good ones since installing ICS.
Just toke this one with gb 2.3.6

I am coming from an HTC One X and I am generally very pleased with the SGS3....The speed, camera, battery etc. Everything seems better except one thing that is bugging me a lot....I am talking about the UGLY HALOS AROUND TEXT.
I realize Samsung does this oversharpening of everything on-screen (mdnie) but text on grey background especially suffers like the "settings menu in Google Talk"
Am I the only one hating this thing about the display?? Samsung should give us some setting to disable it
In over 2 months of owning the S3 I have never noticed any halos anywhere.

Well, text is not super sharp and a little jagged edges. But I don't see the so called 'halos' around texts.

Seriously try go into settings/display/screen mode and alter it to dynamic.
Hi guys,
I've seen a serious bug with my White AT&T 920, and I'm about to send it back as defective, but I wanted to see if anybody else was seeing this error as well.
Basically, when I'm holding down the camera-shutter button halfway to allow for focus, the Optical Image Stabilization kicks in, and the image on the screen wobbles left and right. When I press the shutter all the way, the image is far from stabilized. Most of the time, the image is caught in motion-blur. Occasionally, the image is relatively sharp, but that's pretty rare.

And, yes - I was holding the camera as still as I could, elbows on the table, and squeezed the shutter slowly. Images like the one above are way more common than really sharp images. I can't keep this thing if this is what I should expect. So, defective phone?
Defective. I haven't gotten a picture even close to that, ever.

Yeah I would be using the warranty and getting that fixed or taking it back for a refund/replacement. Never had a problem like that on my phone.
Wow! Something is definetly wrong friend.

LOL! That thing is surely defected!
Replacement works great
I got the replacement from Amazonwireless today. First thing I did after powering it up was snap a picture. Crisp and clear! Thanks for the feedback, guys! Glad it was just a bad phone.:highfive:
Mine did it once after my factory reset. But the picture is not as bad as this one. Soft reset and back to normal. But the picture is not as clear and sharp as shown on those websites. Trying to replace now. Unfortunately, mine is cyan and is really hard to get a replacement.
Hi,
is it common or I have to request for repair?

Mine looks the same. I would say it's normal and no point in banging your head about it because it is only visible in very dark scenario on only black screen. Who uses there phone to look at black color in dark room? Nobody normal.
It's the way AMOLED screens work.
I must say, compared to how the screen of my I9100 looked after a few months use the I9300 seems a bit better with this kind of problem.
The screen of the I9100 looked like someone had poured black ink all over the screen, even on darker backgrounds, not just black.
A few dots here and there on the I9300 doesn't bother me.
The only time I see them are when I'm looking att NSFW content in bed at night and the wife rolls over att looks att the screen and i have too quickly change app
My old GT-I9100 which my wife uses bow has the same issue and so does my current phone.
I believe thos is normal, since all phones I've seen with amoled screen have the same issue.
And in my case it doesn't bother me, since I don't watch movies with lots of dark scenes in night.
Sent from my GT-I9300
Yes it's common and it's one of the several downsides of the Amoled screen. This phone would be close to perfect if it had the screen from the one x.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
Have the same on my phone.
Yes i have the same problem on my s3.
but here's what i don't get, why is the screen not black all over. shouldn't all the pixels be turned off when displaying a black screen?
And it's certainly not an amoled issue, because my sgs1 does not have this problem. at least it is not visible because when the sgs1 displays a black screen the screen is much more black then the s3 or the s2 I had before.
Is the new amoled screens just cheaper produced?
just shot a photo (of bad quality) to prove my point:
(Both the s1 and the s3 displays the same black picture with screen brightness = 100% And the s1 is actually so dark that it is hard to see it.
wierd
i have the same problem too.. but does not have any problem with it..
