hello
i got a weird problem on my phone and dont know if its the network,
when someone sends me a message i receive it like 2 to 4 times of the same message!
its been happening recently, could it be the ROM?
am using X10 mini pro V21 on stock firmware
+1
I'm also interested in this, as I have the exact same problem. Anyhow, I have noticed that problem on different ROMs, so this is not due to your ROM.
I thought the culprit was GOSms Pro, since other users have the same problem with that program.
Any (other) idea?
I have the same problem...
I'm not using gosms
I use the original and chomp but I deleted chomp and the problem isn't solved...
Hi there...
I don't know what software you use for sms, but since i had a similar problem with Go SMS Pro and solved it by reading the sugestions on first run of GO
It's very easy, justo go to your stock sms program and uncheck the options of new sms and mms notificarions, all of them
It's that easy...
P.s. - if you have other sms programs, uninstal them and/or do the same as for the stock program
Hope i provide some help.... and sorry for my bad English
Sent from my X10mini using XDA App
am using the stock sms that comes with the mini cm7 pro v21
crazyskul: it's not a problem of double notification... actually receiving double SMS messages...
Ok, i didn't understand it erlier...
My girlfriend complained about a similar issue, but receiving my sms sent by GO SMS, (she has a normal touch phone, not smartphone) and not me receiving several like you do.
The solution : disable the option "split large messages" in " configuration " - "advanced conf." - "send conf."
I don't know if menu is exactly this, since mine are in Portuguese ...
Hope this solves your problem, since it splits sms larger than 160 chars in multiple sms similar, as my girlfriend complaindi...

It has nothing to do with disable notificiations...I use the stock messaging app... we actually get more messages from the same person...
does nobody has an answer to this problem cause it's really annoying...
I'm out of sugestions....
Do you have your fone rooted?
If so have you tried to "uninstall" the stock sms? Or block im thru Titanium? Or uninstall all sms apps and install GoSMS again?
Sent from my X10mini using XDA App
yes my phone is rooted...the original sms app and chomp sms have that problem and I think all the rest will be the same... it has something to do with my rom (MiniCM7Pro)
Have you tried to reflash the rom?
I never used that sms app, but with GOSMS as i earlier sais once happened when i enabled the "split large sms" in options, since i unchecked it never happened again.
Hope you can solve it fast cause its really annoying receive multiple equal sms or send.
Sent from my X10mini using XDA App
1 question : do you have the same issue if you just have the stock sms app installed? I mean with all the third party SMS apps uninstalled except the stock one
If so, maybe it's a rom problem, dim card or carrier, for the first try reinstall the rom or another one, if the issue pressists try your sim card in a dumb phone, those things from the past we used for calls and some sms... lol
if all those fail to solve your problem maybe it's a sim card problem, solution call your carrier provider demanding a new sim card, calling the assistance they can check and run some tests to it, at least im Portugal they do that
Cheers.

Just a guess on my side: I noticed I had this problem when using SetCPU.
In particular, I set a "Screen Off" profile, with low CPU frequency (120 min, 340 max), and profile "powersave": with these settings I got the problem, sometimes...
Now, I'm using the "smartass" governor of my ROM, and disabled SetCPU profiles, and I got no problem anymore
... but maybe that's not the real issue
EDIT: that's not a ROM problem, since I noticed this in different ROMs

Sure.
The main idea is: save battery life when screen is off, and phone is "idle".
One way is to install SetCPU, and set a "Screen Off" profile, with underclocked frequencies for the CPU (122-340 MHz) and "powersave" governor. This governor will try to keep the CPU clock as low as possible, so using less battery life...
Now, I noticed that the ROM implements a governor (smartass) that should do exactly the same: from setcpu web site:
smartass – Included in some custom kernels. The smartass governor effectively gives the phone an automatic Screen Off profile, keeping speeds at a minimum when the phone is idle

guys i think i am having the same problem of UP TIME = AWAKE TIME...
so i heard this :
"The current workaround is to disable the internal sms app and use one of the free ones from the market instead. Thanks to mobilehavoc for testing out a new sms app and realizing that it didn’t create the lock. The current two recommendations are ChompSMS and HandCent. It is has been confirmed by multiple users (mobilehavoc, freshlyill, spork27, and myself) that the phone is sleeping properly if you don’t use the internal messaging client (and of course assuming you don’t have a different issue than described here!)."
so guys can u tell me hopw to disable the in-built sms application in hero??
also if u cud tell me what other applications maybe making my HERO not to go to sleep mode when i press the END CALL button??
I use handcent mostly now as feel it's little better than chomp, what annoys me is I get double notifications which although switched off in the main app, still comes through somehow.
Turn off auto retrievable in the default messaging app, and turn off notifications. It works.
hi, a question from me on Handcent: can you get the trackball flash for notification with Hc or chomp or anything else? For me it only works with native sms app!
(I have a no-brand Hero)
thanks in advance!!

Wondering about this also. This is part of the reason why I haven't switched to a messaging program outside of the stock one.

I read on the Chomp website that they are looking to include the flashing trackball option in a future release.
hello,
I got an X10 one week ago, and today I had to reset the phone to factory settings after it would no longer receive incoming sms. Anyone ever have this issue? I hope it doesnt occur often.
Question I have is this:
I'm using Handcent SMS, and I also use advanced task killer to close applications running in the background that I dont need.
Whenever I close 'Messaging' app, which I assume is the program used for sms from factory, it just starts itself back up.. is it supposed to keep running?
I also use startup auditor to keep certain programs like face recognition from starting on boot, but currently dont have 'Messaging' disabled.
I think messaging needs to be there fire notifications to work properly. My messaging app runs everyone I get a message, things got weird when I froze it with tb.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
Hmmm... I used to use Handcent SMS when the old Xperia sms application was full of bugs (couldn't compose multi-line messages, sms auto convert to mms after 300 words, the way it displayed message was like a weblog's shout-out box, making it hard to read).
When I was using that, I did not ignore the Xperia messaging app from task killer, and I fully disabled it from Startup Auditor.
That didn't affect my Handcent SMS at all.
I dont think killing it or blocking it would make a difference as neither the phone speeds up nor there is any effect on the battery usage by killing the messaging service.

Ummm... I think his main concern is worrying that his phone's sms sending/receiving capabilities would be screwed if he attempts to block it or something, not about affecting the battery life (._.")

Yes, correct... thus far, since the reset, it has been fine. Keeping my fingers crossed. Thx for the input, guys.
Since updating to 2.1 I've had a few issues with the stock messenger.....a few times I've had send failed messages, then the recipient got the same text several times (lol) and lately I haven't been getting any notification of new texts until I actually open the messenger.
Is there something I can do to resolve this???
btw, I've looked for the stock 2.1 messenger apk around here, but I can't find it....can someone please provide me with a link

Are you AT&T? If so, I had the same problem, especially with long text and MMS sending pics. I believe it was a problem within the APN. I don't know exactly how, but now I have 2 APN'S and the problem seems to be solved. I have MEdia Net and MEdia Net MMS, which is the AT&T brand name for their browser/network. I have tested the every APN setting posted in the forums, and they are the only ones that deliver large pics and 4page texts consistantly. If you need the settings, post here.

yeah, I am using AT&T....that is actually part of my issue, and the other part is that the notification doesn't show up sometimes until I actually open the messenger.
I've downloaded handcent, and re-installed conversations.apk (the 2.1 messenger) just in case, and so far so good, but I haven't tried a really long text or large pic yet...I'll do that and see what happens

We have discussed the task killer apps extensively here. And the consensus seems to be that they actually cause more harm than good.

Agreed if you just installed and use default settings, but if you take the time to hand set it up, it is a really useful app. Especially kill when screen off saves battery and data. I find I still have 30% battery on day 2 without charging. Without it my battery last 1 day max. If task killer effects an app/phone performance, then set it to ignore. No reason not to use it at all. Without it most apps with permissions would run continuously.

I probably use my phone a lot more than the average person. I run my own business with my phone when I am out of the office, not to mention my new addiction to the xda app.
I check my ATK frequently because every day is a balancing act of battery vs usage. After using my browser for 30 minutes, I can't believe how many of my installed apps are running for no reason...the list is 2 screens long sometimes.
Without ATK I wouldn't have any way to free up my system?? Are you saying apps running in background or when screen off is better than using ATK?? Hard for me to believe, but you haven't mislead me yet, Batman. I'll give it a try and report back.

Even if you see a long list of apps, sometimes it is not the whole app that is running but only part of it for a while to do a certain task. Android then terminates them when they are idle for a period of time. I also have my brightness set on the lowest setting and only switch on WiFi/3G when I use them. You can download toggle widgets (e.g. APNdroid) from the market to make it easier to toggle these settings.
Also, if you have weak 3G coverage in your area, then that also drains the battery as the phone is constantly searching for the 3G network. Therefore, sometimes I switch my network mode to only 2G (or GSM only) networks rather than GSM/WCDMA preferred.
In conclusion, there are many factors that contribute to how fast your battery is drained, and apps running in the background is certainly one of them but, definitely not the only reason.
Let us know how it goes

My solution is handcent It's much better for me than the stock app. The stock app is working, though. I tried mms & sms....both are fine. I found the custom vibrate feature in handcent and now I can actually feel it vibrate when I get a text because it stays on for a full second!!!

First I would like to appreciate the hard work Fusiondev has put into this custom built ROM & say thank you! Am loving it,so much better than stock.
I however have run into abit of an anomaly. The default messaging app seems to have persistence without the option of removing it. It also shares dialer app function of storing the simcard's pin no. thus if you attempt to kill it,it won't die but you'll instantly receive a notification requesting you to enter your pin code.
It would also have been nice if the edge/2G/3G connectivity notification wasn't tied to messaging notification sound settings, its a little odd when you have a voice notifying mp3 for messages then again you here it on edge/2G/3G connectivity notification. Can anyone confirm this issue coz I followed instructions to the letter when installing FusionIdeos 2.7.10. I used clockworkmod & didn't forget to wipe/factory reset before flashing. I also can't tell how many characters am typing in the messaging app.
Installing a third party messaging app like Go SMS Pro still fails to relieve the default messaging app of its persistence & causes message/notification duplication. Is there a fix for this issue?
Anyone pliz help! I re-installed FusionIdeos and all I get now is improved battery life, the prob still persists even after fresh download. I can't get into boatloader mode (something I later also discovered). It just displays a blue 2 @ the bottom right of the screen & I have to remove the battery to boot normally. Anyone help me.!

Infact I'd love it if you could suggest a good app that does just that coz I have installed apps alone without games & all am left with is a measly 57MB. How would one untie the edge/2G/3G notification tone to the text messaging notification tone?

Let me see, where do I start. Alright that app means serious biz. I played around with it and it cost me my keyboard hence wasnt able to post here until now. As of now I have been through CynogenMod 7.2 found that it cant surf the net, has no list of APN list and now am back. When I used system app remover to take out mms.apk (messaging app) it went with the system keyboard. It was extremely persistent in giving a "force close" error right until I rebooted the phone. So I flashed CynogenMod 7.2, realized it cant surf then looked for an online pc and had to download a third party keyboard.
What effectively happened was my system now has alot of free ram instead of free space, its very fluid in performance especially with Go laucher Ex effects all enabled. I really wish there could be some FusionIdeos update separating all this ties within the system. I believe the reason why this ROM is so big is because of the language packs coz the CynogenMod 7.2 ROM left me with 142MB to play with but this one does only 67MB as of now. Is there anyway this language packs can be removed? I still cannot boot into bootloader mode
Bump, anyone?

Yes I am able to.
As for (power+red+vol.down), what happens is, the phone reboots then remains in a sort of an idling state where nothing is happening,I have been reading around and now it seems that is what they call bootloader mode,if that's it then yes. Probably its idle coz there isnt a zip to update to. Is that right? I also read in some forum that you can flash clockworkmod recovery using bootloader mode with a custom zip but only in Evo,havent found for u8150-D yet.
I believe I can get more freespace if I can remove the language packs that I dont need. Know how?
How can I remove the language packs that I dont need from this ROM?

Considering the heading of this topic, I would say that my problem has been solved by simply removing the default messaging app, therefore this topic can be bagged and tagged. Link2SD also solved my space issues dramatically... even my launcher 10MB is auto linked 2 sd and works flawlessly!
First I would like to thank nAa for the great work. I wanted to post to the thread for MiniCM7 but i cant. (I a newbie in the forums and a n00b)
Problems:
Had issues with restoring apps. Sound was disabled (actually forced closed) after restoring apps with titanium back up. Fixed by just installing the apps without system settings.
Battery drains. ~5% per hour (haven't calibrated yet, will try later)
As I go to about the thread there are numerous problems with KB lights and WiFi but haven't encountered those. For the camera i will test it as well.
Suggestion/Request:
Can you add a note pad app? (Ill check in market if there is an app for that* [ I'm just using prepaid sim so i don't have the luxury of going online all the time ])
Regarding Contacts is it possible to make a group?
With Messaging is it also possible to tap into contacts so you can add more contacts easily. (I know there are apps for that but i want my phone to be clean and no conflicts with the existing messaging app)
Again thanks a bunch! And I hope I can reach ten post so i can go to the thread and add more inputs.
*Isn't that an IPhone tag line?

thats one of the downsides to this ROM, i found that i cant multi select the contacts i wanna send text to, you will have to type each persons name individually and then select them.

*KB lights - no issues since first porting
*wifi - little buggy but i just forget the network then log back to the network and it works.
*camera - no trouble just like KB lights
*note pad - i just use my drafts for it no trouble really.
*groups and contacts to messaging - just used go launcher for the mean time

About keyboard in x10 mini pro go to CYD setting - screen - automatic light screen - edit others levels... in keyboard write 155 135 85 50 0. Test in a dark room
About wifi, I think the problem is hardware always I have the same problem.
about notepad... what?? Use virtualrecord to record your notes is faster I think.
(ssorry about comand my phone is in spanish the translation is bad)
thanks luisecp for the suggestions.
about my battery i give up on it and just live with it.
as mentioned i have no trouble with my cam and the KB lights
WiFi well i have my fix and that is never to install the settings
is virtual record a voice recorder? i somehow want a visual not a voice one.
thanks again.
Update: I can seem to send or retrieve any mms if i don't enable data traffic which was not the case with the stock version. correct me if I'm wrong but i beleive when you send or retrieve mms the data is automatically enable and disabled after sending or retrieving.

Yes you can, kernel does not depend on the previous versions, when you flash a kernel it completely overwrites the previous version.
I've just flashed yesterday from miniCM7.2.17 nAa08 to miniCM7.2.18 nAa10.
I've found that minicm7.2.17 with nAa10 is a bit buggy and slow, so i guess if you flash the new kernel you should flash the new minicm7 as well.

Yes, i think you have to re-flash gapps. I had to in the past, when upgrading.
i had really crappy battery life so i tried turning off my data,it really helps.at least for me.
data on it lasts 7-8 hours whit little use.
data off it goes no problems for 13-14 hours
once with data off managed to go up to 2days and 19hours i think
sensors stopped working, what should I do?

I don-t think so
Edit:
If you want to remove the fake DT altogether, insert the following line in the /system/etc/hw_config.sh file:
insmod /system/lib/modules/synaptics_i2c_rmi4_no_dt.ko
