[Q] ClockWorkModace - Galaxy Ace S5830 General

clockworkmodace is compatible with upd_1.zip?
I rooted my device with this method (upd_1.zip) but now i don't know if this will be compatible :s

What aren you trying to achieve here?
If you want to install ClockworkMod 4, then just do it; no difference if the phone isn rooted or not (AFAIK).

Rooting has nothing to do with anything. Its something else apart from CMW. There's no such thing as a type of root. Once your phone is rooted, its rooted.

No, that zip will root only when you flash with stock recovery.
However flashing a custom rom with root built in after using clockworkmod will get you root.
Flashing cf-root too will get you root.

in my experience, flashing upd_1.zip on either ClockworkMod 4 or 5 is OK.
but ....
flashing SU-3.0.7-efgh-signed.zip on ClockworkMod 4 failed, but it is success on ClockworkMod 5.

[Q] rooting fascinate 2.2

As u know, the official 2.2 was realeased and I know its great and all, except one thing, HOW DO U ROOT IT?! z4root won't work, and I tried superoneclick root on my PC but on z4, the screen goes white after I click rpermanent root or temporary root. Superoneclick says that the root was successfully but when I try root apps, they all say I'm not rooted. I downloaded another version of z4 and that didn't work either. How do I reroot it? I rreally need help.

This is what i used, works great. I think there is a one click method out there that easier, but I have not tried it yet.

Are you familiar with Odin? If so, remove your battery and flash this recovery: http://www.mediafire.com/file/06al8prkgj29gps/cwm-recovery-ALL-3-30-FIX.tar Then unplug the phone and put battery in and boot into recovery using the 3 finger method. You will boot into red cwm recovery. Flash this from recovery: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7223192/RootSF/su-2.3.6.1+busybox1.19.zip Then reboot and you are rooted.

Rooting / roms questions?

So what is the easiest method to root this device?
Can I install 4ext instead of cwn?
And what is this stuff about different ucl* roms I keep seeing, not sure.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1518962
Kernel- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1504920!
I would run stock rom with a overclocked kernel get the "set cpu" app... set it to 1.84 ghz this run fine on my note seems very stable.min 384.If it seems unstable make you click set to boot "off" until everything seems stable then click set to boot enabled.

Da_G Has an odin root available in the DEV section for the stock GB. As far as I know there are only 2 types of recovery for the Note Braway's CWM and the TWRP 2.1.2 ( I use CWM.) As far as the UCL*** those are all ICS leak builds. UCLE2 being the most recent. Personally I have pretty much stuck with Team Perfections builds but depending on what you want another ROM may suite your needs. If you install one of the new roms they keep root access and install either SU or superuser and are all flashable via CWM, however I assume you need to be rooted prior to installing which is where Da_G root comes in.

So I guess 4ext doesnt work on the note? Also, its easy to brick this device?
I didn't see any flash able zips for it in the dev section so I don't think its supported. Rom manager for the most part is unsupported also except for fixing permissions after flashing new stuff. This is my first experience with android (iPhone convert haha) I haven't had any bad experiences flashing yet but general rule of thumb is read and re read instructions for specific roms and make sure its specifically for the i717 not n7000 or anything else because that will hard brick. Also use only approved ics kernel because of the super brick bug out there

Nope, you can just flash cwm with Odin and then flash a ROM without rooting first. The ROM is rooted.
The only reason to root first is if you want to run titanium backup to nip any apps you may have installed prior to deciding to ROM.
Also that "super brick bug" is only on exynos processor equipped phones, I717 has a Qualcomm. So if you stick to just kernels MADE FOR THIS DEVICE then you can't ever encounter it.
Ah was never 100% clear on that cuz I rooted prior to running saurom rom. As for the kernel thing that's what I meant about not using the n7000 stuff prolly should of been more specific didn't want ya to make a mistake on that.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
Yup.
And now that you've made the glorious switch to Android, when you upgrade to the next beast that catches your eye, you can take the titanium backup folder from your note, drop it in the sdcard of your new phone, install cwm, flash a ROM, then restore your backed up apps.
Easy peasy
So I need to verify, I can completely install a rom that gets rid of touchwiz? Also would this same rom improve battery charging time?
If I could just flash cm7 on this baby I'd be fine with that.
Cm7 is not supported on this device
There are a couple aosp roms floating around, but they are still in early development, alpha stage.

+1....Common misconception is that you need to be rooted to flash a custom ROM. CWM is the first thing I would flash. Like Studacris said, everything else is easy peasy.

so let me get this straight also im new. but right now all i have done is use odin to put cwm recovery on my phone and i have not installed superuser yet. because phone would not recognize with computer. so since i only have cwm i can go to this site on my phone, download a rom from my phone, to my phone and then go into cwm and zip it from there. is this correct?

Exactly. No need to root stock ROM if your going to flash a rooted ROM anyway. Make sure you do a backup of your stocker before doing anything else. The only reason to root your stock ROM would be to backup all your apps and data. If you don't do that, you have to start from scratch. What's the issue you're having with the superuser zip?

AT&T Factory ROM

Anyone know where I can find the AT&T Factory ROM i forgot to do a backup and need to put this ROM back on the device.
i can not find it.maybe few months later, you can get it here.
Is it weird that there's no RUU? It's been a while since I had an GTC phone so I don't remember how long it took to have one on a new phone.

I feel like it is weird, though the One is the only device I got close to release. My Vivid and Inspire were both purchased a few months after release, and iirc the ATT RUUs were available when I got it, but I guess that doesn't mean they were available at release.

I flashed the odex version and returned it to AT&T. Worked like a charm. Unfortunately no one has posted the stock AT&T recovery but I used the stock international version. You can find that here:

Actually, this leads to a nagging question I have as a first time rooter. I want to use the stock ATT Rom, but root the phone so I can install apps than requre root access and am all about taking back total contole of my device.
SO If I want to keep the stock rom and just root it, I would need to back up the device?
So if someone could throw me a bone How would I gain root access to the device whilst keeping the stock ROM?
I plan on using Hasoon's Tool kit.

flash the stock rom through recovery and then flash superuser.zip in recovery. boom. rooted on stock
If you are completely stock then Once you unlock your bootloader flash twrp recovery. Then boot to recovery. Then reboot from recovery. Twrp is smart enough to recognize you don't have root and prompt you to install superuser and binaries. After that I found a busybox flashable zip via google, as the busybox installer from the market wouldn't work for me. This leaves you on a stock odexed Rom with root. Note that unlocking your bootloader will wipe data..so backup anything important first

1) unlock bootloader
2) fastboot flash cwm (you can use the shiny new one i just posted in the orig dev section )
3) boot to recovery and make a backup
4) flash the pre-rooted stock rom here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2242319

did the international stock recovery work for you ? i was able to flash it but when i try to go into recovery its just black screen no recovery. Your reply appreciated

If you flash stock recovery successfully and you try to boot to said recovery, you won't have any options to do anything. I never cared to look at it on this device but usually all you'll see is a triangle with an exclamation point. That's stock recovery. If you want to flash anything, you can't use stock

I don't think anyone's still following this thread, but did you relock the bootloader before returning it? i was thinking of just flashing recovery back. I don't think anyone at the store would bother to look at that anyway. Whenever I go there, the employees seem to know less than nothing about phones lol.

Help please GS4.

Hello I currently tried to install a twrp via the free app on my nephews GS4 he is dying for a custom rom. It worked but when reboot into recovery the phone goes right to download screen with boot error at top left. When I connected to my pc via usb the Verizon software did a auto repair on the phone . So this restored the phone to its original state. So my questions is is the phone now have a locked boot loader or something Loki I think its called. Is there a step by step procedure to reroot , cwm or twrp and rom it ? I been searching but I cant find a post that would cover all of this for VZW GS4. Any help would be much appreciated Thank you.

use towel root to root it and then use odin to flash the recovery. go from there with what you wanna install as concerning custom roms and stuff.
It will root S4's with the firmware (NC5).

That what I was thinking. Wouldn't he just have to install safestrap from the phone itself?
