hi all,
i have a Samsung galaxy tablet 10.1.
3 weeks ago i got a update pushed from Samsung, after this the default browser on 3g does not work. ( works fine on WIFI andon 3g with other browser )
when i try to connect to the internet i get a error " authentication via the proxy server was unsuccessful "
samsung solution was send it in and they put a new OS on it.
now again i got a update from Samsung, and again the default browser does not work.
any idea if i can do it myself to get rid of this error?
P.s. all programs running in 3g mode have a issue also, but then again i think they all use the browser...
thanks for your answer to help me

I have this problem that my galaxy s won't always connect back to the 3g network when it becomes available again.
Right now I have to go into settings and there search for available networks and click on the right one and connect to it.
Shouldnt there be an app somewhere or script that could do this from from the desktop, by widget or icon, to force-connect to the network with id '24005' ?
No problem if it requires root, but do you guys know if this is possible at all?
I too would love to be able to switch network operators with a simple app or script.
An automatic switch based on location would be very useful.

Hi All, finally have my device with me.
Having problems setting up the data connections via wifi please help.
I have set up the wifi network on my device. The web browser works fine, no problem at all.
But when I click any application which requires internet connection, I am not able to connect via wifi.
Application example, Email, Gtalk , Gmail , Android Market etc..
All these applications work fine when I disable my wifi and use my SIM cards EDGE network for data connection. But as soon as I enable wifi these application give the error message , that they could not connect to server.
My wifi is working, the web browser works, I have checked.
Is there a setting which I need to enable so that the applications use the wifi network also for data connections ?
Please Help, this is my 1st android device, have I overlooked some settings which I need to enable ?
Any idea anyone, what setting have I missed
I am getting really desperate now, please please someone help me out.
I have searched the net,the forums, other forums....found similar posts , but no answers.
My GPRS is working absolutely fine with the apps,
wifi is working but only in browser.
I am not able to access any apps via wifi network.
For my wifi network I have to use proxy server, is that the reason for the apps not working via wifi ?
Is there a solution for it ?
I have searched the net,the forums, other forums....found similar posts , but no answers.

I meant to say, that I have tried to search (google), visited other android forums, searched this particular forum, but did not find any answer.
there were a couple of other users at various forums who were facing similar issues as to what I am facing, but no one was able to solve their query.
Please if anyone knows how to resolve my query please answer.
Hi all, my best wishes.
I have a Huawei UM840 with HSDPA (is equivalent to Huawei U8220), with my mobile operator HSDPA is available where I live, always appears the 'H' in the bar of my phone.
I installed several custom ROMs and appears in all the "H".
Yesterday I installed a ROM and now only shows "3G".
I guess it's an adjustment inside the ROM, Can I change that?
Thanks for your opinions.

Are your speeds the same before and after? Check using Speedtest.net app and report.

Hi there everyone,
I'm wondering if on an android device there's a way to force it to keep open a wifi connection that is not used for data, for example to a Seagate Goflex Satellite (WiFi HDD) or eye-fi (WiFi SDHC) while also being simultaneously connected to 3G for data. Obviously connecting to 2 wifi connections is out of the question, but thought maybe somewhere out there is someone who 's found a way to do what I'm looking at.
Thanks.

are you sure the packets are going thru both interfaces?
I think it doesn’t work, simply because you would need two default gateways, leading to some hard problems:
- how does the system choose where to send the packets?
- for outgoing packets: unless the two connections have both statically assigned public IP addresses, which is very unlikely, you will end up with two differently NATed paths, and the client will refuse packets coming from two different ip addresses on the same connection.
- for incoming packets: to let the client send packets to both interfaces, you would need to send them from both interfaces with different source ip addresses: it will not work, the client will get confused. and anyway you would need support at the application level.
to solve all this, you’d need to:
- make an ad-hoc application which understands all this and can send chuncks to both interfaces, then merge all the returning chunks. you’d need support at the application level: for example you’d need http byte range support on both client and server
- divide “equally” the single specific connections thru the two gateways. this may work but it’s pretty hard if you do not have access to advanced routing and traffic shaping at the kernel level. may be possible on a phone with custom compiled aosp rom and modified kernel
Hello
So I'm on this small forum, which I couldn't access when I'm not on home WiFi. It's very strange. At home I could connect no problem and the page loads instantly, but when on mobile network, it just doesn't load.
However recently the forum moved to a new domain. But now, I can't access the forum on my phone from WiFi. Other sites load instantly, but this one just sits doing nothing. I also tried connecting through Tapatalk, however it doesn't work. It just sits loading. I can access the forum fine from all computers and all other phones on the same WiFi network, and I haven't had the issue with ANY other site.
I am reluctant to post the forum's URL here due to how it's a small community which doesn't need to be flooded by traffic. If anyone really needs it for helping me, PM me.
So does anyone know what might be wrong?
Thanks.
