I have used HDMI about a dozen times and seven times after 15 minutes or more, the external display goes blank, the Razr freezes and then reboots. The only reboots I have gotten is when using HDMI. Has not mattered if just web browsing, games or playing vieo- same result. The Razr does not seem to heat up enough for heat to be the reason for the issue.
Anybody else having the issue? I will return this unit for another one.
Does it happen when you are on mirror display mode or on webtop mode? Or both?
I am asking because my Bionic does that same freeze/reboot thing but only when Im mirror(ing?). Its never happened while using the webtop. See if yours does the same thing.
My pops just got a Razr and Im gonna supe it up for him tonight, ill see if he has the same hdmi problem too. Ill follow up manana.

I have only used mirror mode (no Webtop).
I have used Netflix and played a couple of games connected to my TV...no reboots.
I was on Wifi. Someone else mentioned this happening, they were on 4G tho. Since I'm in a bad reception area and my apt is a virtual dead zone...I cant really test it on 4G.

Have a new rooted Atrix and just experienced a random reboot while making a call. Anyone else had this happen yet?
nope have had mine since yesterday at 2:00 pm no issue with reboots
none here!
I was driving yesterday and put the phone down, screen on in the browser or something. Looked down a few minutes later and it was at the AT&T splash screen like it was rebooted. I am rooted but nothing really special was installed at the time.
Ya, I've been getting these as well. It happens most often when I'm charging my phone. I've heard people saying other cords don't work as well but I was using the charger that came with the phone, just plugged into my computer.
Me too
twice in the last three days. Also, my N1 charger freaks this phone out.
I have a stock phone and this happens to me frequently, while my wife has also a stock phone and it hasn't happened to her once. I'm going to exchange the unit tomorrow.
Happened to me once. If it happens again I think im gonna exchange mine.

It's happened to me a few more times, both when I'm charging and when I'm not, but it definitely happens more often when charging.
2 reboots due to the wifi preference crashing and one random music player app crash
It's very strange. This was happening when I first got the phone. Seems to happen more when it was below 50% battery and being charged via my laptops USB. I wonder if this is the rumored power issues the phone was having that was mentioned on Engadget before its release.
After a factory reset though, I have not had the problem again.

I had a problem where the phone was doing random reboots a few times a day which was very annoying.
I swapped the phone today at the AT&T store as they got a new batch and so far so good.
Rooted with all my apps installed - so far - no reboots.
Keeping my fingers crossed.
I got another reboot today while using Google Maps. So thats 1 random reboot a day for two days.
No problems here.

Funny, I had a random reboot today. Is this what we get as early adoptors of a dual core phone ?
UPDATE my phone shut off by itself over night.gonna get a new or switch to verizon. This is ridiculous

It just happened on my device. I was scared first, now I know I am not alone.

Mine rebooted again twice today while connected to the car dock using google nav. Gonna head back to the ATT store and get a new one tommorow morning.
Update: left my phone off the charger last night for the first time at around 80% and woke up to a dead phone. This and the reboots mean im going to exchange it as soon as the att store opens. Hopefully i'll get a normal one this time.

Returned my phone that was rebooting nonstop. The new one is working much better.
My phone has a 90% chance of reboot whenever I am connected via bluetooth and streaming audio. It is driving me crazy.
When I have my phone hooked up to hdmi it seems to work fine except for sometimes the screen on the tv goes blank for a second or two than loads back as if I had pulled the plug and put it back in. Does this happen to anyone else? Is it supposed to happen or can I fix this somehow? It is pretty annoying when playing a game or on the internet and the tv just goes blank. It doesn't seem like anything is really causing it. It seems for random than anything else.
If you were using eclipse 0.2.2 like I was when I had the issue then just update to 0.3 ,works fine now

That is what I was running. Thanks for the info. I just saw that nitro has posted the new update to .3 that I was waiting for since there seemed to be issues at first. Good to know I shall check it out as soon as my battery is full up. Thanks.
I purchased a Droid RAZR on the day it was released and it has been running just fine. As of right now I am satisfied but I ran into something that worried me slightly.
Earlier today I had my phone in the Kickstand case/belt clip and hadn't used it for about an hour. When I took the phone out of the belt clip it was scolding hot. Battery, screen, all of it. I regretfully didn't have something to monitor the temperature to check what it had gotten to, but it was nearing pain just to hold.
Has anyone else been running into overheating problems with their RAZR of this magnitude or does anyone know any cause/solutions? Any input would be appreciated.
Sounds like you had 4g turned on and a lot of activity going on
also sounds like it got hot, i did not "overheat".
My razr gets warm in the case too... Does your case have a magnetic closer thing? Mine does and I am wondering if that is playing a part as I know old motorola droids (Droid 1 ) would not play nice with magnetic cases.
Mine has never been got hot. Not even warm...
But I've heard that many of you are experiencing problems like this so, maybe, it's my device the exception.
P.S.: Always running in HSPA+ with data connected. It got a little warm after 30 minutes of playing on WebTop (on my ATRIX LapDock)
I noticed this today. Went without my otterbox on an after 10 min of listening to pandora the thing was almost to hot to touch. Going to exchange this.

No it does not.
And there were not a lot of activities going on. Up until that point I had made a phone call. That was it. And I checked to see what was active and there wasnt aanything that shouldn't have been.

Mine is XT910 and it is kinda cold even after surfing HSPDA+ for 15mins. The 4G LTE radio in the XT912 aka Droid Razr should be the cause of this issue. I believe they'll roll maintenance updates soon enough to fix this kind of baseband issues.
My device too has been getting hot. I have the Droid Razr. It will overheat with no case, weather i am streaming in 4g or not. constantly losing 4g connection. also once it is over heating it will begin to powercycle. I have also noticed now due to the over heating the kevlar backing now has a huge air bubble underneath it where it has come detached. you can run your finger across hte bottom and just hear the popping sound of it moving around.
Check in Display Settings if In-Pocket detection is ticked. You never know. It is an active process if ticked.
For the past couple days I've noticed when I am in bed I've been using my fiance's EVO 3D charger and it's been heating up the screen pretty good, hot enough to really feel it on your palm of hand, not warm, i'm talking hot. I unplug it, shut it down and within minutes it's cool again.
is this an LTE phone?
I noticed the phone get hot (noticeably hotter than expected) the first day of use when I was hammering LTE and opening/closing things. I didn't use LTE a lot after that. I used the (google) navigator app in the car for a good 11 hours straight and it barely got warm but using 3g.
Since then, I've installed the leaked update which contains a new radio and updates the os to 2.3.6. I've been running 4G and It hasn't been anywhere close to hot. It might get SLIGHTLY warm while downloading/watching some youtube vids but it seems much improved.
No such issues with mine. Scolding hot? You sure you are not exaggerating a little?

Man, Razr has a high voltage battery..... dont ever try to charge it with another phone's charger,,,,
you can charge via laptop.....
My GSM RAZR does get hot, but after about 20 mins of browsing the net + chatting + fb all using 3g....get worried at times...but it goes off. just hoping for my back cover not to bulge, like some has.

Just how 'high' do you think the voltage is on the battery? I have used various chargers and they all work fine.
I had to echange my Razr after 2 weeks because the camera kept freezing but 4-5 times I would feel my pocket get hot. It was very hot and would partially drain the battery quick. Only have 3G in my area. I would reboot it and it would cool down. The new Razr has always stayed cool.
I've had similar problems in the past with my phone randomly becoming extremely hot and the battery dying within a few hours. I eventually downloaded an app called Android System Info on the market. It will tell you exactly what processes are running and how much of the CPU they are using. I found out that a process named android.process.media was starting and hogging 70% or more of my CPU at random intervals. After some research I figured out this was possibly caused by my phone attempting to sync with the media on my micro SD card and failing, but continuously retrying.

Disregard that message as it is ridiculous.
If the Razr couldn't be used with a standard micro-usb charger then they would have put a proprietary charger port on it. And secondly, even the cheapest plug-in charger has far more juice than what a laptop USB port provides.
When I first received my RAZR, it too became very, very hot at times. Uncomfortably hot. To the point where I feared for internal components. On the plus side, some of those 'black blotches' under the screen seemed to disappear.
As above, narrowed it down to the media scanner. Solution was initially to use the phone without an SD card, but that was hardly a long term fix. In the end, I rooted, froze the terrible Blur music app, hid as many folders as possible with .nomedia files, and used the feature of PowerAMP that disables the system media scanner for its database.
Have not had the same problem on 2.3.6 firmware, thankfully.

I've been having problems with my RAZR Maxx running really hot, up to 111°F, while surfing. And while surfing in my house on wifi the signal will go all over the place and sometimes even drop. Then the phone tries to negotiate to 4G and then back to wifi. Uggh!
So I stopped by the Verizon yesterday to see about getting a new phone. You wouldn't believe their response. They said that since I am using a different microSD card that I need to format the card in the phone and that would solve my problems.
So I went home and copied everything off the card, put it back in the phone, formatted it, took it out and copied everything back over, and put it back in the phone again. Took about 30 minutes.
So did it work? Sort of. My phone doesn't get as hot as it did before and the wifi signal is more consistent. No where near the wifi signal my old HTC phones with Sprint had though. But it is better. My phone did get up to 100°F once but now it stays around 98°F under heavy usage.
The Verizon tech said they've been sending phone after phone back. I guess the lesson learned is if you replace your card to format it in the phone first.
If you try this please post back and share your results.
Wow good to know. I did put my 32GB card from my old Thunderbolt in my Razr Maxx. I think i did reformat it though as I have not had any of the problems you are talking about.
OP here.
I did this and it worked for a day. Yesterday my phone got really hot while in my pocket. When I pulled it out the screen was black. I had to hold down the power button and volume down button to get the phone to reboot. I went back by the Verizon store. Told them I did the steps above and even factory reset but I'm still having problems with the phone. My new phone should be here Tuesday.

Hi guys... I recently inherited my Atrix 4G... loving it so far but I am really struggling with the bluetooth in this thing. My last 2-3 phones have instantly connected with my Honda Civic but the Atrix seems to take 30-60 seconds. Kind of annoying. I know it's being nit-picky but I was just curious if anyone knows of a way to perhaps speed up the bluetooth connection time or maybe the polling interval?
I'm currently running Jellybean but have also tried the stock GB rom and other custom GB roms. All seem to take a while to connect or warrant reboot before my car can see it.
Thanks!
Interesting. When I had my Atrix it hooked up to my car instantly. I recently switched to a Galaxy S III, and it takes around 45 seconds to connect. I had just assumed it was a difference with Android 4. But if you're seeing it even with Gingerbread, perhaps there's something else going on. Can anyone shed some light on what might cause a delay in connecting via bluetooth?

It does seem to be faster/more stable with Gingerbread.... probably because there is no official 4.xx build for the Atrix yet so it's just using "borrowed" drivers (just a guess.) I'm crossing my fingers that once the official ICS build drops from Motorola that these ICS/JB ROMs will get some proper drivers!
I may just go back to GB for now; wonky bluetooth is kind of a dealbreaker for me.
Any suggestions on the "best of the best" GB ROMs? Might give Nutrino a shot.
In both our vehicles (wife's Explorer, my F-150), we get random behavior. She has a stock HTC. I have the Atrix (CM7). When her phone is far, far away (e.g. she's at work), mine will connect everytime - but sometimes it connects in 10 seconds, sometimes I'm a mile down the road before it connections. It's very random.
If she's in the truck with me, about 90% of the time, it connects to mine (mine is defined as the 'primary' phone), but that other 10% of the time, it'll connect to her's.
I can't speak as to how long her's takes to connect when she's alone in her car, but when we're both in there, her's connects the vast majority of the time (95%+), but occasionally, mine will connect first.
I've juts chalked it up to BT weirdness. And I still wish CM7 would get decent bluetooth that would permit SMS over BT. Guess I'll keep dreaming for months to come.
