[Q] [Help} Galaxy S2 Charging Problem - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I have a problem in my galaxy s2. the phone doesn't instantly detect when the charger gets connected or disconnected as usual.
the fully charged notification won't get cleared when I unplug the charger. it seems like it's still think the cable is connected. if I power off the phone, I get the battery charging animation screen and beside it the yellow triangle and a thermometer (the cable is not plugged).
Also when I plug in the charger it takes a lot of time to start charging and doesn't make a sound. as if the cable was already connected and it's just resuming.
In conclusion, for the past three days, the phone always think that the charger is plugged
Please help

Same thin here.... it sometimes thinks that it is on MTP mode and I can't put it in debbug mode.

nobody can help yet??
same thing goes to me too..
hope someone will help us~~~

If you searched the first answer would be clean USB ports and the second one factory reset .
That fails = service centre .

[Q] Problem with USB port and function

Today i found out my SGS2 have problems charging the phone, not only that. i also have problems with USB file mode, and keis mode. and if the phone is turned off. i only once got it to charge without booting. else when i connect the USB it boot the OS.
What weird thing is, that ODIN works without problem every time!
The problem appeared after upgraded to Darky Rom KG6 with jkay mod. but don´t think it has anything to do with that.
I reflashed to a Stock KG6 (still same problem)
From OS restore to default, and format (still same problem)
tried to flash back to KE2 stock. an but on CWM, and clear battery stat, and system cache.
flashed backup with a KE2 Kernel (still had the same problem)
What i found out is that, when i disconnected the wall plug charger, the phone still was in a state of charging. and it don´t give the sound notify when attaching the USB. but when touch the USB cable it suddenly charge and give the sound. but it can also go in MTP mode. or start Voice recognize.
Could the be a faulty USB port on the phone, or can Battery State and kernel updates have something to do with this problem?
im now pretty sure this has something to do with the USB port. when i just spoke on the phone. it suddenly began to change between Car mode a normal.
i than tried an alternative why to deal with the problem. I tried with a hairdryer after taken out the battery, sim and sd card, and carefully heat the back of the phone.
for 5 hour there has not been any problem. both the desk dock, and wall charger is working.
got a dejavu from the xbox days and RROD.
I have the same issue. I think the USB port is faulty.
The phone reacts to different electrical resistor values on some pins of usb port that triggers car mode, desk mode, etc. So, somthing is faulty in the usb board that reports to the system that has something connected to it: charger, car dock, desk dock, usb jig, etc.
I can't find any solution on the forum, I tried with several roms and got nothing.
So... I'm waiting for a USB Jig to reset counter, back to stock rom and send it back to store for warranty
My problem seems to be fixed by using the hairdryer on the usb port. I think the problem appear from the why you hold the phone and if your hånd become sweaty. Because there are nothing to protection the usb port like the sgs1.

i9300 USB Port Issue?

G'day guys
On Sunday I noticed my SIII making random noises but nothing was ever on the screen when I checked. While playing with it, it made the noise again and I noticed the driving mode icon appear in the notification bar for a second. I decided to update to the latest version of Omega 9 to see if that would fix the issue. Did the usual, backup, wipe, flash - all good. Omega 9 was running fine but my phone did continue to make the noise randomly. Ignoring it and continuing on my day I plugged my SIII in to charge while playing music, I picked it up like an hour later and realised that the battery life had gone down rather than charge. Naturally I started plugging it into all the micro USB cables I could find, connected to the power adapter, connected to my PC, connected to my car charger, nothing would connect and give it a charge properly! I managed to get 1 cable to connect for a second but then it would just disconnect. While I was trying to get it to charge it was randomly displaying the message that appears when you connect a USB OTG cable too, 'USB connector connected' - or something a long those lines.
I pulled the battery out of my phone, let it sit for a bit, inserted the battery and it started charging fine. I powered it on and it booted up with the TW launcher (I normally use Apex) and a grey box in the lower left hand corner of the screen that said "Safe Mode". I was just thinking, WTF (should have taken a screen), rebooted my phone and it has since gone back to normal.
It is yet to make any random noises or refuse to charge as of today (Tuesday). I got a bit worried for a bit there as I was dreading having to take it all back to stock and send off for warranty plus the USB port in my cousins SGSII died for about a month and randomly sprang back to life.
If it happens again I will be looking at a warranty as soon as possible. It puzzle me though, I wonder if the cheapo USB OTG cable I purchased off ebay could have damaged the port at all, everything seems fine now though. Has anyone else had any troubles with their USB connection?
Notes* My phone is in perfect condition, no liquid damage or anything.
Sounds like it had a software glitch. Check if it appears again and report here, but you should be fine in most cases.
Btw: Pseudo-Dead (disabled) USB-ports can usually be revived by powering off the phone and inserting a Jig. At least that's how I revived my brother's old Galaxy Ace several times already

[Q] i777 micro USB problems - won't connect

I have an i777 (AT&T). I would like to root it. When you connect the micro USB cable, the phone starts to act strangely. First, you cannot charge the phone through the cable (I have to use an external charger and keep switching batteries). When you connect the cable, the phone does the following: every six seconds the black and white battery charging icon appears in the middle of the screen (the one that you see when the phone is off), and stays there for a split second. Then the screen is black until the battery icon appears again. The phone cannot be used while the cable is connected.
There are ways to send files to the phone (Kies Air) that let you work around the cable issue. But does anyone know how to fix this USB cable problem?
Thanks.
DO not charge your phone with it
Seems like your USB port is damaged and you can damage the internal parts by giving a fluctuating power supply
Hi. I have the same problem. Could you fix it? Charging and data transfer can be solved (external battery charger - airdroid) but I do not know how to root it. Is there any wireless way to root the device? Thanks

[Q] S3 charges only in Download Mode

Hello XDA
This is the first Q I have I managed to work my problems off by myself to this point. Straight to the matter at hand:
My S3 stoped to charge normally on:
Wall socket solid cable charger
Wall socket usb cable charger
USB plug to a PC
External battery
On a turned off device it only shows the loading battery no charging
On a turned on device in normal boot it shows charging but no charge is applied (checked with various software)
It only charges in Download mode (slowlly due to the fact of a turned on screen)
I tried diffrent chargers, cables even batteries nothing really helps
Also its not being recognized by the PC when plugged in in normal boot but it's being discovered in Download Mode.
I was able to flash Stock Rom by ODIN but it also didnt produce a solution.
The only thing that comes to mind is to flash with a repartition but i cannot find the proper *.pit file and I don't want to do this before consulting the community.
I can reset the counter and send it to the service but I think that this is a software issue not a HW one.
Can anyone offer some assistance?
UPDATE:
The device when booted normally and pluged into "holds the charge" it dosent go up but it doesnt go down.
Pretty fun !
I think it's an issue with your kernel. Have you flash your device with a custom ROM and/or kernel ?
Well I was running PAC Rom for S3 at the time so the Kernel was based from that.
After that I Changed to XXEMA2 CodecROM 1053 Black Edition with Siyah Kernel still same outcome... And after that returned to the roots with Stock ROM with Stock Kernel
I have the exact same problem on my Galaxy S III for Sprint (SPH-L710). Did you ever find a fix for this???

I have the same problem too.
Did anyone ever fix it?
The phone charges when in recovery/download mode, pulling 300 mA from PSU, but only 60mA when connected and turned on.
Im using a normal usb cable, and have short the D+ & D- Pins.
I've charged the battery in a third party battery charger and that works fine, I also have a wireless charger that too pulls around 60 mA
Maybe you all need to change the USB connector module at the bottom of the phone? I've seen these break or do strange things in many phones including Samsungs. Not sure if they eventually get broken due to overheating or what the issue is, but that would be my guess.
i have a pb in my i9300i my cell going to downloading mode automaticaly

[Q] Charging issue hardware related

Just to be clear, what I am asking for here is advice on which part I need to replace on my phone in order to fix this.
Here is what happened:
I was trying to make a bench power supply out of an old computer power supply I had laying around. Well when I went to connect the "charge only USB Cable" to the Molex connector I accidentally swapped the wire colors, I meant to use the red (5volt) but instead connected the yellow (12volt) to the USB cable. Stupid and careless mistake I know, trust me... Nothing strange happened other than the phone gave me the "incompatible charger" error. The phone will turn on and function 100% normally so long as the battery is charged via another device. For example I take my wife's fully charged battery out of her S4 and put it in mine, the phone works fine until the battery dies; the battery I swap to her phone charges perfectly fine in her phone so it is NOT a battery issue.
The phone will not charge a battery anymore, with the original charger or the other 3 white Samsung brand chargers I have, nor my car charger. After doing some research online I discovered that it was likely to be a fried USB board, which I replaced today. So the USB board and USB connector are brand new and I am still having the same problem. I also read about restoring to factory settings which I have done and also reinstalled my custom ROM. I reinstalled AFTER the error message began occurring so it was NOT cause by a the ROM update. I read that I may be able to use a wireless charger which would solve my problem, but I don't actually own a wireless charging base and I have no plans of buying one unless it is my ONLY option to fix this.
Here is an exact description of the problem:
When I connect a USB charger of any kind to the phone while it is powered off, I get a black screen and the phone vibrates once every 4 seconds or so and the battery never appears on the screen nor does the screen light up in any way.
When I connect a USB charger or connect it to a PC while the phone is on I get "The connected charger is incompatible with this phone. To prevent damage to your phone, charging has been stopped. To continue charging, use the original charger and cable that were provided with this phone." error message and a battery icon with a red "X." If connected to a PC the PC says "unrecognized USB device."
Here is my phone info:
Verizon Galaxy S4
Model SCH-I545
Android Version: 4.4.2
Baseband: I545VRUAMDK
Hardware Version: I545.06
Rooted
Rom: Hyperdrive RLS20
Recovery: PhilZ Touch v6.54.9
ClockworkMod v6.0.5.0
If there is a tread that has already covered this I apologize, I did do a search and didn't see one.
Any help or information is greatly appreciated.

there is no fixing this you fried the motherboard its toast done, over with gl finding another MDK motherboard those are few and far between the charge controller is part of the motherboard you need to replace the whole thing(logicboard) you are better off buying a new phone a wireless charger is worth a shot but if the charging controller is shot its not gonna do you any good the only other option would be to hotwire the battery to a external charger (you can't simply feed 5v into the battery it will melt/explode it needs to be a regulated current of 3.4 to 3.8v at about 150Mah it will take 4 hours to charge and you will need to be there to unplug it before it overcharges and explodes
