I have an i777 (AT&T). I would like to root it. When you connect the micro USB cable, the phone starts to act strangely. First, you cannot charge the phone through the cable (I have to use an external charger and keep switching batteries). When you connect the cable, the phone does the following: every six seconds the black and white battery charging icon appears in the middle of the screen (the one that you see when the phone is off), and stays there for a split second. Then the screen is black until the battery icon appears again. The phone cannot be used while the cable is connected.
There are ways to send files to the phone (Kies Air) that let you work around the cable issue. But does anyone know how to fix this USB cable problem?
Thanks.
DO not charge your phone with it
Seems like your USB port is damaged and you can damage the internal parts by giving a fluctuating power supply
Hi. I have the same problem. Could you fix it? Charging and data transfer can be solved (external battery charger - airdroid) but I do not know how to root it. Is there any wireless way to root the device? Thanks

Hello,
I have a problem in my galaxy s2. the phone doesn't instantly detect when the charger gets connected or disconnected as usual.
the fully charged notification won't get cleared when I unplug the charger. it seems like it's still think the cable is connected. if I power off the phone, I get the battery charging animation screen and beside it the yellow triangle and a thermometer (the cable is not plugged).
Also when I plug in the charger it takes a lot of time to start charging and doesn't make a sound. as if the cable was already connected and it's just resuming.
In conclusion, for the past three days, the phone always think that the charger is plugged
Please help
Same thin here.... it sometimes thinks that it is on MTP mode and I can't put it in debbug mode.
nobody can help yet??
same thing goes to me too..
hope someone will help us~~~
If you searched the first answer would be clean USB ports and the second one factory reset .
That fails = service centre .

Last month I bought an LG Optimus Hub and I have several problems. The first is that the USB port doesn't seem to work. When I plug in the USB cable (any cable) it starts charging but when I remove it, the phone thinks the cable is still plugged and charging all the time. It's the same with the data cable and any charge cable (sans data pins). The phone also would not recognize the data cable plugged, nor does the PC. I know the port does not work but this might still a sw problem. Is there a way to root the phone via WiFi or Bluetooth? If I can do that, I won't mind if the USB port does not work. Else I'll take it to tech repair -and I'm scared of those guys as hell! They don't know anything and keep sending back the same phone with the same problem saying it's either "repaired" or "mobo changed".
I have a Samsung Moment that has a flakey acting usb port. I can connect with qpst and cdma workshop, but I can't charge the battery or mount the sd card. Debugging is off, usb set to pda (tried modem setting too). It detects the usb cable connected but when I try to mount a blank screen titled Android System appears and disappears in a fraction of a second and no usb mount options appear. The weird thing is that I have no problem mounting the sd card in recovery, and I have no problems transferring files in either direction. The phone still won't charge, but everything else with the usb port seems to work without a hitch. The only time my batt. seems to charge (or act like it is) is when I power down from system, but then it only charges for about 30 secs before saying the batt. is fully charged. And it does this no matter how low the battery actually is. I only get about 2.5v on the batt. pins, but on another Moment I have that won't boot up but will charge the batt. I get around 4.5v. I'm running a 2.2 rom right now, but this phone had these issues when I got it (used) running stock 2.1.
The original charger that came with my Flyer died a few months ago so I resorted to charging it with the provided USB cable....but today, that stopped working too. I tried using the car charger (its the high capacity micro USB with the notch) and that didn't work either.
I've now resorted to using a normal micro USB charger and when it's plugged in fully, nothing happens. But when I pull it out by 2mm, it starts charging.
Is this normal, or is the USB port on the Flyer on its way out? Is there any quick fix or will I have to open it up and replace the PCB?
Thanks for any help anyone can provide....I dread the thought of losing my Flyer since it keeps me organised and on top of things!
I bought a new HTC high capacity charger off ebay and it's acting just like the micro USB chargers: when it's plugged in fully, nothing happens. But when I pull it out by 2mm, it appears to be charging. Despite this, I've also noticed that sometimes the percentage charge decreases even though the orange LED is on and the display shows that it's supposed to be charging. This happens even when I have the WiFi etc off, the screen on standby and tablet not in use.
It's quite temperamental, I can't find a pattern to it and at this rate it seems there will suddenly come a point when it won't charge anymore.
How can I fix this, please?
Backing up to SD card
I just got off the phone with HTC support who suggested I try to do a factory reset to see if that solves the charging problems. However, this leads to another problem as given how awkward the USB port is being on the Flyer, I can't plug it into my laptop to do a backup. Is there a way of backing everything up to the SD card? Even app data? This is turning into one big headache.
Will Rerware's MyBackup do the job? My Flyer isn't rooted...

Im unable to use my phone as USB Mass storage device. When i connect my phone to PC sometimes im getting as USB device not recognized and sometimes im not. I tried different PCs and different cables. ITs ONLY CHARGING
tried cleaning the micro usb port, uninstalling and reinstalling drivers in Pcs but it didnt work.
I switched off my phone, removed mem card, reinserted it, swithced it on again, connected my phone to PC(in sleep mode)
phone is detected as storage device and got notification in notification panel to select as charge only/files mode/ photos mode.
After ejecting and removing cable again back to issue. No detection. OTG also not detected. No Data transfers are being made but its only charging( even through Car USB port)
Anybody facing USB not recognised problem ? i hope its software related.
could anyone let me know of solution.
Thanks.
I am also facing the same issue
I thought I was alone in this issue.
Basically, my problem is, the wall charging and USB connect are reversed. i.e., I connect my wall charger, its showing as USB mode and when I connect the cable to a PC, its showing as AC Charging. I tested with Ampere app and when I connect to AC Charger, it is drawing only around 300mA(like it would do if connected to USB) and its drawing around 1.5A(like it would do when connected to wall charger) when connected to USB PC.
I have been having this issue for quite sometime and recently, I had upgraded to Marshmallow through OTA upgrade. I thought atleast this upgrade would fix this issue but I am still facing the same issue. I even contacted the customer care and nothing useful advice other than restoring to factory settings was suggested(which I tried and didn't work).
I guess it should be some software issue but don't know what it is or how to fix it. Any inputs would be welcome.
