Hey guys,
So, today I got my phone back from Samsung (yay!) after repairs.
First issue, it came back with a different bezel, so I phoned up thinking "OMG WTF" and was told "Nah, we just did that because we had no others".
That's fine, boot my phone up, and then the menu lights didn't work.
Me: "WTF!!"
Reset the phone, display lights worked. Yay :3
Open "Gmail", oh, it looks like there is a gradient going from dark to light over the screen. Whhaaatt.
I turn the brightness up, it is less visible. Full brightness and it's barely noticeable.
I restart my phone, nope, it's still present. I notice it in the Android Market too and can just see it when the phone is idle.
I've tweeted Samsung, but I'm impatient when it comes to my phone, it's been difficult going with my trusty P1i for a week!
Thanks for all your help guys,
Jake,
P.S.
Going to try formatting again...
Well, another reset didn't do anything.
Sending it to Vodafone's repair centre now, to see what they can do...
I'll keep this thread updated!

I just brought my new archos 101 home from the post office. Turned it on, set it up and then the LCD crapped out.
It is displaying like 8 colours and is really dark.
The TV Out seems to work ok via the HMDI cable but the actual LCD is like the display driver didn't load or something (reminds me of what used to happen when you put a new video card in windows 98).
Anyone who has an archos seen this? Please tell me it's not DOA because I will likely kill someone.
Since the forums think I am spamming because I am trying to post a link you will have to copy/paste.

never heared about that before.
but it looks like inverted. ( don´t know the right word)
can be driver. have you tried a reset? >press power button for 10 seconds<
hope this helps.

Looks pretty dead to me. Like squirlier said... reboot.
If the splash screen is the same as the screenshot, then (I reckon) you can be pretty sure it's dead. If it's not but it dies again while inside android, you could try flash the firmware again.
Never come across anything like this before though, so I am only working of guesses.
The splash screen is all white background with black text and a blue "your".
Will try the reboot when I get home from work in the morning.
Not looking forward to sending it back since I only just got it.
Did a reboot, no luck. Still the same problem as before.
Guess it is time to contact archos.
Looks like a loose connection to me. But I wouldn't recommend voiding your warranty to crack it open and check it out. Better to send it back.
Well it's officially dead.
Sent an email to archos and they have responded by telling me to ship it back to them.
About a week ago I had just checked an email using the gmail app and put the phone to sleep. I then remembered I needed to do something else on my phone, so I woke it back up. Upon waking, the entire screen was red, I could see the background still, but there was noticeable artifacing at the top of the screen. I unlocked the phone, and it was still the same. I could use the phone as normal, but the entire screen was a translucent red. I put the phone to sleep and woke it back up and everything was back to normal.
I am still in my 30 days of ownership, so I was wondering if anyone thinks this was a one time bug or if there is a deeper problem. At the time I was not rooted and was running 100% stock.
I'd most definately take that phone back and exchange for another.
It _might_ have been a one time issue, or it might have been a symptom of a hardware issue. Why risk it?
Thats not really a common issue... in fact the first that Ive heard of. Could be a one time issue... or a hardware LCD/screen issue. Id take it back.
I hadn't heard of it either. When it happened the phone was only a few days old.
I regularly replace iphone 4 screens and I have come across red tinted screens. At least on them it was a sign of screen problems, not software. Samsung does/did make screens for Apple. I've never heard of an iphone having a red screen then dying. I have heard of them being red and not ever going back to normal colors.
Not worth the risk for me. If it was my phone I'd exchange it.

I had a similar experience, except the screen went green, and wouldn't go away until I rebooted. It was probably due to CF.Lumen though, or at least that's what I thought.
On my Captivate, every once in a long while the screen would boot or unlock with a weird color tint. Seem to recall it having been green, but couldn't swear to it.
Either way, a quick lock/unlock again made it go away. Always figured it was a software bug somewhere in the display driver...
Hi,
I dropped my Galaxy S2 Yesterday (have no idea if this relates to it) But i plugged it into the charger this morning and everything was blue & some of the screen had turned black and some icons had burnt into the screen it looked like.
After taking it with me because it was still usable, Its not completely black except for maybe the faintest part of blue.
Im running Lite'ning rom, The newest one im pretty sure.
Just wondering if this is a virus? Or the screen is dead. I just cant see how it could suddenly die when it was flat and not turned on.
Phones not under warranty by the way. So maybe you could give me some options?
Thanks heaps guys
Probably the problem is hardware related due to the fall, but you could back all your data and try to do a factory reset to see if it fixes or not. If it doesn't fix maybe you should check your screen hardware.
Thanks for the reply,
I just reflashed Litening with Odin 1.85 and still nothing, I get the vibrations, touch lights, sound ect, But only occasionally a tiny little strip of blue along the top.
How would i check my screen hardware? Because i pulled apart my galaxy s after it died and accidently cracked the screen & Glass
How would i do a factory reset by the way? Since i cant see anything
I'd imagine it's dead. I'd take it to your local store and ask for an estimate on how much it would cost to fix it. If you can't see anything, then the screen is either broken or it got disconnected (or maybe some of the ribbons did at least).
Yeah, I just dont really wanna take the phone apart unless i know its likley to fix it.
When i first got it, I noticed it had black splotches on the screen in very dim light on a white background. Nd im guessing id have to almost buy a whole front screen assembly to replace the front screen D:.
Would i be better just to sell the phone how it is? Or repair it?
hey, everyone...
quick question to see if anyone has come across this particular issue.
i've been running dirty unicorns, toast kernel alex uses for that rom.
woke the phone up yesterday am after spending the night on the charger.
still plugged in, i checked the time.
pushed the power button again to put it back to sleep.
nothing...the screen stayed on, but frozen.
unplugged it from the charger, screen powered down.
haven't been able to get the screen back on.
strangely, the home, menu, back and search buttons do manage to light up, though.
oddly, enough...the phone still works normally.
i can guess as to what my security pattern is, hit the magnifying glass to power up google now and ask it questions.
i can also receive phone calls and swipe to take or hang up the call as usual.
once on the call, i can guess as to where the red bar is for hanging up.
phone works like normal...as long as i can guess as to where everything is.
also, when in lock screen mode i can side swipe to get to the camera and take pictures.
so, essentially, screen doesn't work...but, it still recognises and accepts touch input.
i just can't see a damn thing.
any idea?
took it to a sprint corp store and they changed the housing for me...for free.
changed the screen, top housing, etc.
they said it looks like it might be the board.
any ideas beyond that?
thanks again, everyone!
also, on a weird note...my battery is bulging in the middle.
i guess it's on the way out...with everything else.
I've had this phone for years and am having this issue too. Anyone have an idea?
yeah, it turns out that my screen's fried.
at least that's what the sprint tech told me.
pretty much everything works perfectly.
impeccably...i just can't see it.
i guess that's it for the phone unless i want to replace the screen.
they're rather inexpensive...depending on where you source it from.
(UPDATE: Here is a link to a short video of my issue: https://youtu.be/YqKW3tU4Fhw)
So I cant seem to find ANY info relating to this issue aside from results for the LG G4, but the solutions for said phone are all over the place. Some are bad screen, some are related to sim tray, some are related to water damage and battery etc. So basically, about a month after buying this phone (KIW-L24 US version), the screen started to artifact and flash in and out randomly. There is nothing that seems to trigger it. I have set the phone down on a table while on the homescreen and watched the lightshow. It is basically a mixture of the problems seen in these videos (Feat. LG G4).
https://youtu.be/gAUkXLR7eQI And https://youtu.be/QstOH66pfiU.
Symptoms:
Screen will randomly start to flicker and fade in and out. I will also get crazy artifacting lines. (Think de-gaussing an old CRT monitor or simillar to what is seen in the second video)
If i see the problems happening, locking the phone and unlocking again will sometimes fix it temporarily. Other times the problem continues after i turn the screen back on.
Sometimes the screen will refuse to come back on. The backlight turns on, and the digitizer responds, but the screen is still black. Making sure the screen really is off, I can come back to the phone a few minutes later and it will turn on. Other times ill have to hard reset the phone (hold power button 10 sec) and it usually brings the screen back to life.
Background:
I bought the phone "used - Like New" from amazon. It came with all the original accessories and even still had the film protector on the back of the phone. I may have noticed these problems after I received the phone, but they really only started to show about a month after purchase.
At first I though it could be software related as I was running CM13 and something could have been corrupted, so i did not just a factory restore, but a full reflash. This didn't solve the issue. Restarting my phone and the reflash did help, but the problem returned. The inability to turn the screen on persists through a reset and I have to wait till the phone boots again to get the screen back. Sometimes takes more than one reboot. This pretty much confirms a hardware issue right? If i put the phone on a black screen, i can see three small fuzzy "dots" in a triangle shape in the top left quadrant. Could the screen have been damaged by whoever owned it before returning it? They are not dead pixels per se, but seems more like areas where the backlight is showing through ever so slightly more. Not visible unless you are on a black screen in a dark room. Ill upload a video showing some of the issues. Any help is appreciated!
im afraid you need a new display brodar...
Seems to be hardware issue. You can visit the nearest service center to get it fixed for few bucks if you don't have warranty.
Yeah that's what i figured, i just needed conformation. I was able to get amazon to take the return even though I was out of the return period. So at least ill be able to get a refund. Ill just pay the extra for a new one this time haha.
One question : Do u have over heat problem with ur phone ?? If u feel ur phone is more than work from the back dont replace . U'll damage the new screen also . Some ppl erported over heat cpu issue with honor ! ;.

Try moving to stock once , if it fixed stick to it for few days . 99% of possible cases for hardware issue .
So better request for a replacement from huawei . but don't mention them that u bought it used . tell them u bought it new
