[Q] Accidentally flashed wrong Clockworkmod recovery, how to remove? - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

Hello everyone, new user here.
I installed the Clockworkmod app and was browsing the available phone models when I accidentally clicked on a name while scrolling. Now I just want to get rid of Clockworkmod altogether. How can I remove it and get the stock recovery back?
Also, would anyone be able to suggest a different app to make a nandroid backup?
Thanks for your time

[Q] Switching Recoveries (noob question)

Hi, I'm currently using the latest ClockworkMod as my recovery. I've never had any problem with it (had it on my og evo as well), but I'm hearing a lot of great things about twrp recovery, so I'd like to make the switch. I'm all clear on most of the process, but is it correct that I'll need to make new nandroid backups? If so, should I delete my cwm nands? How would I go about doing that? And am I correct that I'd need to revert to my stock (first) nandroid, flash the new recovery from there, make a new twrp nandroid, and then go back to cm7? Just want to be sure, as I know that nandroids are a lifeline and I don't want to screw anything up. Thanks in advance!

yes, on your sdcard/clockworkmod/backups

no, you can just make a nand with the new recovery of your current setup, no need to revert

Sounds good. What to do though if I need to ever go back to stock rom? (Unlikely anyhow). Will I be able to find a stock rooted rom in the dev forums?

Update: flashed twrp, made a nandroid without a hitch. Thanks so much! Will hit thanks button when I get to a PC.

[Q] Full Backup

Hi guys!
Sorry if this already has posted but i couldnt find.
We just love to flash, update roms but sometimes we forget the essential and wanna go back.
So my question is: is there a way to backup and save from a original stock Atrix, things like pds, kernel, webtop, do a whole full backup of everything?
You mean like a Nandroid backup?...
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
if you do a nandroid backup from cwm or rom manager it will back up everything on your current rom.
Thanks a lot for your attentio guys!
Doing these backup, even system unique files like pds, kernel, webtop, boot?
yes, its kinda like a ghost backup for a pc. it takes an image more or less.

It makes an image of your current phone setup that you can come back to like if you get stuck, or if you want to come back from another ROM...

Thanks a lot guys! But to use CWM or Rom manager i will have to unlock my boot, so i was wondering if there is a way to do this keeping Atrix untouchable and with this backup?

I think nandroid backup requires root and if you want to flash another rom you'll have to unlock the phone.

Hum, thanks but to flash another rom i dont need to. I can enter in RSD and flash it without doind anything. Only if i had to flash in fastboot prompt i will need to.

Question about recovery

I have a stock kernel, so it itself does not have recovery, I rooted and got recovery by installing cwm.. Now if I flash a custom kernel, it would bring recovery with it, and not the one I had installed.. Than can I restore the backup I have done with the older cwm ??
Yes.

Thanks for the quick reply.. So flashing custom kernel would not erase data i have already backed up using CWM right ??

Flashing a kernel won't, unlocking bootloader will. Back up /sdcard/clockworkmod before unlock.

Okay so I copied the backups from my cwm folder to my pc, now if I unlock the bootloader, flash a kernel and then place them back there, and recover, would I get the same phone as I have now?? (i mean all the apps and stuff)
I have Romtoolbox pro installed

Thats the theory - if its a Nandroid backup :good:
Rom Toolbox Pro makes backups of your apps and if you are referring to that you will end up with a phone you will have to setup again.
When I unlocked my bootloader I just started from fresh...but I tend to do that rather than keep rehashing old problems
Yea I too love that, I only backup my contacts, and media is always synced with my laptop, asking for knowledge
And yea I backed up using cwm recovery (is it called nandroid?? )
Use the thank button, it's there for a reason

Go backup pro is a good alternative for backing up apps, settings, and even the home launcher settings, but since wednesday they made it a paid app. If you exceed to 200mb they will not allow you to restore your backup if you don't have the premium version.

Go back to stock, see if it still happens while you are there. If so, return it and ask for a new one. If it doesn't, flash CM again and read the CM thread; you just might find a fix for that issue.

What ROM do you use?
Settings->about phone->build number should give you the ROM name and the firmware it's based on.

Just click restore. You don't have to delete anything first because it will be deleted/replaced by the restored rom

[Solved] Clockworkmod Recovery question

Hello,
I have the stock Jelly Bean 4.1.2(XWLST) on my Galaxy S2 currently which was rooted using Mobile Odin pro when flashing the ROM. Now, I want Clockworkmod Recovery to do a nandroid backup, but how do I go about it without overwriting the current root apk? I'm having this doubt since any cwm zip file will have it's own root apk, and I understand the current root apk will be overwritten with the new one from the zip file. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you!
PS: if I'm wrong, please correct me.

Read up on nandroid backup, it is a process of backing up the entire state of your phone, to be used whenever you corrupt your firmware by doing risky stuff. So it won't override your root status and I don't know how to explain this to you but you are confusing yourself with a lot of misunderstanding. For doing a nandroid backup go into your phone's recovery and use the backup option.

Umm, I'm really not sure whether you understood what I actually asked. I know what a nandroid backup is. My question and your answer are in no way related. Anyway, thanks for answering.
Found out the answer.
Flashing the Siyah-s2-6.0b5 Kernel for rooting JB 4.1.2 XWLST pushed CWM recovery along with SuperSU. Since I already have SuperSU, it wasn't overwritten.

This wasn't exactly that clear though, and I am wondering why you are getting worried about the root app changing? Suppose Superuser got installed you can change to SuperSu anytime by changing the su binary of Superuser with that of SuperSu.

I had always rooted my phone by using CF-root(which also pushed CWM recovery) from the beginning and this was my first time with Mobile Odin. I was just trying to figure out a way to flash CWM recovery without losing my current root apk. I have mentioned how I got this to work in my previous comment. Thank you anyway.
