Why Cronos Froyo is out of this forum?
It is the most stable and solid rom I tried on my Hero and I currently use this.
See the link below for more informations:

Yes its good, but Feeyo was banned from XDA-Developers.

Pff you can discuss that ban...
Hey... I was wondering why he got banned, I was hanging round off topic when he got banned, and only when I came back I realised
i've to say, the best 2.1 rom came from feeyo, solid, fast and clean
still have to try 2.2 though...anyway, it's not much an effort to go on his own forum, it's easy to find on google

That is a loooooooooooooooooooooooong loooooooooooooooooooooooong story That would take me like an hour to fully explain...
If I am not mistaken the short version is something like:
If and when Feeyo makes his kernel sources public he can come back.

Ah Okay
Thanks
The source in question was the 32 kernel if i recall correctly. As far as i know, feeyo does not even have his original source on that anymore, and feeyo has been making his other source available to anyone who asks.

I have minimal understanding of what you devs needs for sources but here? I think the kernel source is up to date but the name hasn't been changed but I'm not sure (it's the CK29- one). Is this correct?

What we "devs" call sources is: a group of files which when downloaded to a properly configured linux system, it is possible to build them and, get this, even run them on an actual hero device!
For example: https://github.com/erasmux/hero-2.6.29-flykernel
On my FlyKernel post you can find detailed instruction on how to build it, and if you have a linux system and are interested, you should be able to build my kernel with no problems.
EDIT: damn, again reading too fast. The CK29- one, does look like kernel sources, and I am sorry but don't have time now to download them and try and compile them. But did Feeyo really not update his kernel since august?
EDIT2: From the Cronos 1.6.0 release notes:
Release notes:
21 Nov 2010 | Cronos Froyo 1.6.0:
...
* New Kernel tweaks.
...
Where are these tweaks?

On Feeyo's github, the only thing which seems like its sources for a kernel is this one:
https://github.com/Feeyo/cm-kernel-32A-Magic
These are obviously sources for a kernel for the Magic device and not the hero....

Please see my edits above. I tend to read posts way to fast, I was sure I checked all the repositories on Feeyos github before posting my original one, but after I noticed you said its "CK29-", I rechecked it.....

Those tweaks you can find in 30tweaks under init.d in one of his kernel flashable zip.
Yes the kernel has been updated and it has been updated A LOT. I'm guessing Feeyo probably hasn't bothered updating his kernel but I'll ask him about it
EDIT: He has been trying out some very experimental stuff like compiling with a new toolchain and he is also very busy ATM. I think he said he would compile a new kernel with the old toolchain since the new one wasn't that good so maybe he is waiting till he get a proper kernel to release. That could also be it.
EDIT2: He just told me it was not the toolchain but a Linux kernel patch
I am sorry, but I don't have time for these games. Feeyo, does not wish to share his kernel sources. It his right, not his legal right, but still his decision.
Personally, the events that caused his banning do not sit well with me and I think it would have been better if they had never happened.
That said, it does not change the fact, Feeyo, for reasons only he knows, does not share his work with others, quite the opposite.
I will not waste any more of my time on supposed sources for his kernels, which, at best, are old sources which he really used at the time.
Okay whatever I don't understand this... I'm going to link this thread to Feeyo though...
I would love to see such talented developers such as feeyo and erasmux working together. Yeah i know, feeyo has to publish his sources, your are all right. I hope Cfreak can get him doing this.
The dev. at the hero section is getting really quiet.
I think the point is the villian team. They are making really good ROMs but when Feeyo came to XDA he delivered a very nice ROM. Noobody was very nice to him only said "play by rules, give me your sources". I think you get him in a very wrong way. He is a nice guy and very friendly over Cronos Forum, doing a great job and very intersting in new things. It would be a pleaure to welcome Feeyo back on board here but i think you all scared him.
Sorry for my bad english.

Yes, that means, when FM and camera will be fixed, ROM will be updated here. But MSM7227 platform is now too old to be maintained weekly.

Information about development is here:
FM radio: MSM7227 and most of new 7x30 devices use TI12xx W-LAN chipset.
When FM will be fixed on 7x30, it will be fixed on 7227 too.
Camera: camera takes a lot of time. Sony promised to give binaries compiled for 2.3, but right now they're silent. It's unknown will it be fixed or not. You can take camera libs and apk from GDX if you really want full camera on official CM7.
And a small note: for God's sake, f*ckin' stop with crying smilies in every second thread. XDA admins should remove it, IMO.
Best regards,

Guys, would it be eaisier to sift through the Development thread if it had [GB] [ICS] or [2.3.6] [4.0.3] tags at the beginning of the rom titled threads?
Im seeing a lot of new threads being created due to ICS (this is an awesome thing by the way) but I think it would be a good idea to have OS version tags to help sift faster.
What do you guys think?
I would think 2.3.6 & 4.0.3 would be easier because some of the GB ROMS are ICS themed and the OP would prefer to say something like "ICS'd out" which would result as a potential cause for confusion
Having the 2.3.6 or 4.0.3 as tags would indeed be easier to sort things out.
I always include that but I agree.
Also for ported Roms please make sure they include the original's developers rom name.
Yes. I think they should have both. [ROM][GB][2.3.4], for example.
Yes. I agree with a previous post regarding android version numbers [2.3.6] or [4.0.3] being more clear than simply [GB] or [ICS]
i agree [ROM][GB][2.3.4] looks good
I agree tags would be useful.
oh yes please! either would be fine.

I agree and think this looks the best and is the most informative for everyone.
Ill let a few more weigh in with their opinions.
I also think that [ROM][GB][2.3.4] is the best, because for example SHOstock, and Shostock 2... If you didn't read it could down load the wrong rom or post your question in the wrong thread.
Hmm... For system firmwares, exact Android revision should be in the title. Also, whatever Samsung build it was based off of (for non-AOSP-based firmwares.)
Kernels are a different story - For the most part, a kernel can target the entire 2.3.x series with no problems, same for the entire 4.0.x series (at least so far).
So for kernels, GB or ICS is probably all that needs to be there.
So maybe:
[Firmware][4.0.3]Sh1tROM blahblah
[Kernel][ICS]Daily Driver blahblah

Is the double tag of GB and 2.3.4 for redundancy or to add the case that the rom base can be 2.3.4 and be themed, resulting in an example tag such as [ROM][ICS][2.3.4]? The example seems confusing at first look.

I for one like to know the base. I wont touch 2.3.6 (uckk6).
I would like to add to my original feelings and suggest that the base be included in the title, like Red posted above. However, I feel that the full base name should be included, and not shortened.
For example, [ROM][GB][2.3.4][UCKH7]. Or, [ROM][GB][2.3.6][XWLA4]. Or, [FIRMWARE] as Entropy stated. I'm not sure which is more appropriate.
EDIT: I just realized how much this is to type out, but it only has to be done once (or as the base or version changes). It's incredibly informative and worth the trade-off in my opinion.

No. Not all GB roms are 2.3.4. There are different version numbers. For example, I think CM7 is 2.3.7 or something.

It's important to remember that 2.3.6 is not broken. AT&T's UCKK6 2.3.6 is broken. For example, XWKL1 is 2.3.6 and it's a really good base.

Absolutely do not let people leave the region code out of the base build code, e.g. shortening UHLPE to LPE.
This wasn't too bad in Gingerbread where the build code sequences reset every month, so you at LEAST knew which month a build was from, but in ICS, since there is no longer a month code and just "P", the region code becomes VERY important.
For example, XWLP2 is newer than XXLPQ, because the XW region series started much later. (the XX region series was what all of the prereleases were done in, so XX has VERY high build codes.)
Yea I was reading up on that in the i9100 section, was confused why they did that.

is it really hard to open the kernel sources or building a soft unguaranteed version of 3.x kernel for sony ? they are making kernel for 2012, and when they have a good working 2012 device kernel, is it costly to make their coders to port (etc.) this to 2011 and say:
hey you wanted a lot and there is an example we made, you can put something on it and make better...
this is really annoying that knowing your hardware can handle a software but producer is not allowing it....

The Story of Android. And at least we have international versions. This is worse for people who have network locked phones.
Also, there are a number of factors considered. Sony would rather push jb update on their new phones faster than work on old phones that aren't even on sale now.

The point of Doom adding the [DEVS ONLY] tag was to keep posts like these out. Yes it CAN help our device run the newer version of android as well as cut down on the things we have to change for our device.
I would love to help out but I'm not very good at developing kernels since I need more knowlage in C. Do you have an idea of what's stopping it from booting or not yet?

-More Performance
-Slightly more available ram because of better management (up to 6mb)
-Less changes necessary for newer android versions.
-Therefore we will have newer roms much more stable earlier.
And a huge lot of other misc advantages that are more minor.........
-I forgot to say it would make Ubuntu Mobile much much much more easier to port (hence it's based on nexus at the same kernel version)

I'm sure Doom doesn't have time to work on it recently between his life and other devices he devs for. I don't tend to work on kernels or if I do I don't really work on them as much as use or build them. (I'm hoping to learn more code lanuges but I need to get my math credits up in my college.)

I borrowed my xpria play to my friend a few weeks ago, but he dropped it 6 times in a row, now the device won't work anymore and repair costs are pretty expensive (about 100 euro's)
So sadly i can't work on this kernel for now, till i have enough money to repair the phone.
