[Q] KB5 Modem (ICS) - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I recently just flashed my Vibrant with ICS, and my phone signal doesn't work, can't text or call. I flashed the KB5 Modem and it still doesn't work, anyone know a solution?
Thanks.

Which ICS ROM? B/c judging from this there is a KB5 modem for ICS http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19699756&postcount=1

When asking questions like this, please get in to the habit of knowing exactly which ROM you flashed, which version, and state it in your question. For the Galaxy S: Vibrant T-959 we have multiple ICS ROMs... eg: Passion, Eugene, etc... and different versions with different bugs... eg: Passion v3, Passion v4, Passion v5, Passion v5 Build 2. Just a friendly reminder, to maybe help your questions get answers quicker.

Sorry about that guys, but it's the Passion v5 update 1. Tried flashing the KB5 Modem with Odin many times already, and still doesn't seem to work.

Have you tried Factory Reset, wiping your cache, and reflashing the ROM, the kernel, and Framework 2? That would be my first instinct.

trying that right now, hopefully it works.

still doesn't work >.<
probably will just go back to v4

Thank you!

I noticed that my signal is (seems) weaker with it.. a lot of calls are sent right to voicemail.. are you sure it doesn't work anywhere at all?
Also I had no 3G the first time I flashed it.. factory reset and formatted /system again from mounts and reflashed and it worked.

Vibrant Froyo issues

I´ve just flashed my Vibrant to the Eugene´s unbrickable froyo rom and so far I have a couple of issues. I´d like to see if anyone else has them and if they can be resolved.
- Android beyboard is not available.
- The home button functions now as the back button.
Did anyone experience something like this? How did you solve it?
thanks
Rafa

That is an EXTREMELY old version that wasn't even for the vibrant initially..
KA5 is the newest (Find it in the development section..) (Which is for the vibrant)
The problem is that for some reason I´m not able to flash via recovery mode. I can only flash using a TAR rom with Odin. From what I´ve been seeing there aren´t many TAR updates of roms out there
Rafa, That rom is really used only for flashing back stock now. Typically if you had say a Nero 4.1 rom and wanted to go back to stock. If your phone got frozen trying to go Nero>>>Stock JFD you would instead do this:
Flash from NERO to Unbrickable froyo by Eugene then Stock.
Take Master's advice the Newest roms out are in the DEVELOPMENT section
Look them over the newest is the KA5 rom, but the Axura, the Einharjar and Nero are all very good and you would be very happy with any of them.
hope you're not in all that flooding in Rio State
good luck

Make sure it is properly rooted, and you have rom manager, it the rooting is corrupted, then you could have that problem
Thanks, fellas. I´m going to get Rom Manager and try it again. At the moment I have Eugene´s rom and whenever I try to use the recovey mode to flash a different rom (I´ve downloaded Nero V3, which is supposed to be very stable and fast) I cannot select "reinstall packages"...actually I cannot select any option as the ON button doesn´t seem to respond (only the volume rocker buttons).
Oka1, thanks for your kind words. That was very thoughtful of you. Luckly where I live was not afected at all by the rain.
One more question, is there anything wrong with the official roms (http://samsunggalaxysforums.com/sho...firmwares-for-Samsung-Galaxy-S-I9000-Download) ?
Not per se but, i am not sure on which Galaxy format Brazil uses, e.g. which Build
It could be the I9000/ (T-mobile (959)) or could be 897 etc, so make sure the phone and the build are compatible with the Rom you want to flash. Remember some service providers customize the phone
Espero que ajude, boa sorte
Mine is 959, so I´m thinking the official froyo roms on that website won´t work properly for me.
p.s - getting good with the portugue, hey

Recovering an ATT Galaxy S2 after flashing GT-I9100 Firmware

I've spent the last 2 days trying to fix my mistake. I have the GS2 ATT version, and I didn't realise there was a difference between that and the GTI9100 S2.
I wanted to give some tips I learned on how to recover your phone if you make this mistake.
First, here are some posts you'll want to look at:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1286432 - Stock firwmware
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1285823 - Clockworkmod for the ATT
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1286192 - Cyanogenmod for our phones.
Using Odin and the stock firmware, you can recover your phone to a 95% working state. Once I got my stock firmware on there, I found that while making calls my phone made no sound, and the mic didn't work. The mic did work when I wasn't making calls though.
I reflashed the modem.bin file found on the stock firmware, not sure if its required but that is what I did first. Then, I unpacked the rooted stock firmware, and flashed JUST THE zImage file. After doing this, I rebooted, and my calls were working again.
After that, I installed the correct version of Clockworkmod, and then CM7 nightly. Now everything seems to be running great on my phone.
Hope this helps someone out there,
-Orbital
Good job thanx man.

In other words I can't flash the nightly builds like the latest 77 or any others for that matter.

Those are NOT for our version of the GS2, International only. Our version is here in the development forum.

Yes, it will return a status error 7 which means it's unmatched. Ask me how I know. I flashed international roms last night and used this fix to get me good again.
I flashed a KE7 I9100 build to my I777 and saw no ill effects other than incorrect capacitive button mapping. Which build did you flash? Did you make sure to wipe data factory reset afterwards.
So you are saying that you wre able to flash Euro ROMS and your phone booted just fine? Mine didnt boot at all. Did you flash the KERNEL for ATT on top of it ?

The simple thing would be to change out the sec_touchkey.kl with rootexplorer and take the sec_touchkey from system/usr/keylayout should fix the i9100 rom to work with the i777. Seeing as how this worked for the Captivate *i897* for jvr, jvs, and jvt darkyrom releases and I would assume that it would work.

Personally I would think that you had a bad flash? Did you flash through Odin or CWM? From what I have been reading the gb bootloaders between the i777 and i9100 are different and I can see if you used a custom i9100 rom flashing via cwm could cause that. Since I am not too sure on the sgs2 if the differences between the euro models versus the carrier locked, the Kernel will not fix the button mapping, I learned this with the captivate when I switched over to using DarkyRom jvr and jvs builds since they were the most stable of GB for the i897 captivate. Plus if you are going to run a i9100 rom, I am sure the modem will not work with the att kernel. Especially if the situation with the cappy is any indication that att kernel needs att modem and i9000 kernel needs i9000 modem. I will be able to know more as soon as I get my i777 tomorrow.
HTH,
Charlie
Does anyone know how to remove the i9100 splash screen?
Google Talk Video does not work after updating to CyanogenMod 7 and back to stock rom. Any suggestion ?

wipe data/factory reset
tried that three times... didnt help..
Did the same thing and made it back to ATT version and running CM7 for now. Still have an I9100 boot screen with a yellow logo. How do I get rid of that?
SO why do you say this flashes you back to 95%? Is there no 100% return to stock fix?

Use a download mode jig or flash entropy 512's stock TAR kernel with Odin from the link below.

Some people need to wipe or also flash the modem for 100%.
Also, people who managed to flash a bootloader without hardbricking can't get back to stock with any confirmed method.
I have posted bootloader dumps, but no one has flashed them and I'm not messing with trying to flash them. They are dumps from my device and that is the ONLY guarantee I provide for them.

^^;; The RemICS JB is currently being fixed. The current version is known to give no data or network as a result from a kernel issue...flashing any modems will not give you signal.....You really must read as much of the thread to the rom you plan to flash as you can before actually committing, otherwise things like this are bound to happen my friend ^^ If you did a nandroid I'd suggest reflashing that, or going to another JB or ICS rom until REM is updated.
Good luck!
Thanks to u all
