In terms of screen time I'm only getting around 2.5 hours on 30% brightness. I hardly use data, have background data turned off, no overclock. And this is on a full charge
Oh and I'm on the virtuous ROM for gsm evos.
Also I've been using CPU spy and I am getting around 88% of the time deep sleep.
Possibly a defective battery? :/

if only 2.5 hours then yeh definfinately might be a bad battery
i was only getting around 5 hours max on my stock battery and only solved my issue by getting an extended batttery(yeh it makes your phone big and stuff blah blah but it lasts me about 23hours now)
im not sure how to check for a bad battery
i would try to borrow a friend's battery if you have access to that
Hmmm thanks. Anyone else have this case? Is there a way you're supposed to charge it on the first time?

use overclocking....and a good kernel
i am using cleanROM 1.3 with silverneedle kernel. my phone says 1d 6h 26s on battery and battery is at 45 percent. data is on and i did pandora for about an hour last night. overclocking also sets your clock rate DOWN when your phone isn't doing anything. i tried cleanROM 2.0 and noticed an immediate increase in battery use, so i switched back to 1.3. gonna stick with a day and a half per battery charge and a quadrant score of 2600...... not the best but WAY better than stock and killer battery life

1d 6h, plus 45% left?
you really must not use your phone, like at all
using the phone requires the screen to be on (normally),and screen will not stay on for a day. It can sleep for a couple days though yeah
I'm also getting about 2.5 hours of screen-on time with a full charge on a completely stock evo 3d, not rooted, no s-off, no custom rom...
If I'm on wifi all day(and I mean 100%), I usually get 4 hrs of display time. If I'm just on the network, I get around 5 hrs. I'm rooted but I'm running the stock odexed ota.
Sent from my rockin 3D
Try this, the virtuous version. It will help with the battery life. But you need to be rooted and it should work fine on gsm.

Does he really have to? look at the little blue bar under the graph, it shows the phone was "awake" for quiet a bit of the time, BUT, he did charge it, the little green bars show when it is charging... PLUS, you can see where the graph actually raises, batteries don't/won't charge themselves. I had a friend do some trickery with an inductive charger, the phone wont see its charging, so it reports no charging, but PLENTY of battery, lol...

All that really means is that the phone is in constant use with the display on...not sleeping. I get that all the time when I'm using my phone pretty much from fully charged to almost 0%. Nothing out of the ordinary
Edit: that almost completely solid blue line under the graph shows how long the device has been awake.

I am tired of my Amaze, the battery barely lasts me more than 5-6 hours and these drops are unbearable.
I started my day 9am today and the battery was down to 20% at precisely 1:04pm.
Just look at these drops.....
Rooted? Rom?
Chuck Norris can but Walker Texas Ranger can't.
On stock rom and stock battery the battery life on the amaze is terrible.
I have my girls amaze rooted running a custom rom, kernel with setcpu, juice defender and anker extended battery. Now it lasts her all day with out charge in between.

I don't know what you people do, but I consider myself semi heavy user. Today I streamed BT music for an hour at the gym, streamed one movie off Netflix and watched a good few YouTube wrestling matches and had a few calls here and there and a good 50 texts....reading some off the Kindle app and I got 11 hours before a charge.
I get 12-18 on normal usage. Was a light day at work, lol!
Want amazing battery life, then go back to an old school BB phone.....

This does not look good at all especially the last drop. You might have a rogue app. I would factory reset and start over only few apps at a time so I can identify the app. You may also wanna try other battery like anker.

This behaviour is definitely irregular... Those sharp drops and sudden spikes could be from the battery not being calibrated properly. On average, my Amaze with stock battery lasts me about 14-16 hours with 2.5-3 hours of screen time (lowest brightness most of the time).

Most android phones really need to be rooted so you can fully tweak the battery life. My amaze got roughly 16 hours with normal to heavy use with bullet proof 4.0. My phone I'm using now, the mytouch 4g gets around 24 hours with the same use. Before I would be lucky to get 8 hours with either phone. IV learned that you can either complain about things, do something about it, or just get an iPhone and go away . The beauty of android is the ability to go in and tweak.

averaging ~ 15-19 hrs of heavy usage a day on sense 3.5 rc1.7, sometimes Ill use juice defender to help with the longer work shifts but honestly its a huge difference from when I was stock.
its no different from when I was stock on my g2 to when I was rooted, sometimes you just have to tweak a few things to see a vast improvement.
Morning all,
I just woke up and unplugged my phone from the charger after leaving it to charge all night, right. As soon as I unplugged it, THE BATTERY DROPS 96% IN A MATTER OF SECONDS and I get the less than 5% of battery remain. I was like WTF?!?
I believe I found my problem....
Btw, I am on a rooted stock rom and I would consider myself a normal user. Calls, sms, and emails are the primary uses of my phone.
I am completely stock and get about 16hrs to a charge... I run miui music or stock music app for roughly 4 to 6 hrs a day and surf here and market and a bit of gaming.
I set screen brightness to 20% and keep my internet and blue tooth etc off most of the day....
I desperately want to debloat but I'm holding stock till ICS.
Rogue app sounds right along with the bloat like Google maps and Facebook eating up our batteries..
I also use a task manager to kill on command......
We have a hodgepodge setup of bloatware and settings in stock format... But I'm waiting and earning an ulcer till ICS as I know the upgrade will open the door to real development of truly good stuff

I get 24 hours plus quite a bit. I'm on an old Fresh ROM. And I do use my phone all day. I get hundreds of texts, a few calls, plus I play Words a bunch and Draw Something a few times a day. Here is my chart from yesterday. I did charge about 15 minutes late in the day in my car as you can see in the chart. But this was after 30+ hours of up time. I get amazed myself at how long this thing can go.
To me, screen on time and actual usage really indicate what you get out of a charge. I get about 3 hours of screen on time browsing and reading books before I'm at low battery. Usually, 16 hours is about what I get out of a charge with 2-3 hours of gaming and internet. The only thing I miss from the iPhone is battery: easily 2x the usage over the EVO.

I think sense 3.0 is kind of a battey killer too tho it was with me
I get around 12 hours, but that's with an extended battery.
Just to note a thing - listening music does not eat battery much after all if i switch to airplane mode. Also more apps I install - battery runs out faster. Even with sync off.
With wifi on, sync off I pull it out from charging for 15-16 hours with 20-30% battery life at the end. I use it to text people, check facebook, few phonecalls and listen to music for about hour.
Oh its stock battery.
There should be multiple threads running about this in general. all the flasholics who focus on battery life should post there experiences, with information on the battery brand, ROM, kernel, and usage .
Clearly we all seem to have very different experiences, but finding common aspects of those with the best battery life would be greatly valuable tot he rest of us.
im using a:
1900mah cheapo battery from ebay.
SOS M ICS 3.6 with Sock Kernel
14 Hrs heavy use.
1 day+ in standby
longer battery change rom
kernals have alot to do with battery life,
best battery life i have seen is running meanrom with 5.4 dadova or 5.2 depending on what you feel is a little more stable. I run chads quadrant 1a because I love the speed and batterry is still better then stock
Going from stock Gingerbread ROM to senseless ICS moded ROM nearly doubled my battery life.It went from 24h to almost 48h with absolutely same usage of the phone
Wich senseless ROM did you Flash?

Battery life is very good, this includes mainly internet browsing with wi-fi and 1-1.5 hours of gaming, brightness always at 50%.
My cpu is undervolted a lot, for example I give only 860mv for 1000mhz, hotplug governor. I have 25% battery left so I could have about 4:30 hours of screen on time using the full battery charge.

your guys battery sounds great;
mine only lasts bit more than one day
For some reason, my battery life has gotten worse than when the image was taken. I am insane, mental, and deranged about battery life so I will have more specific percentages soon. I have tried ending anything I suspected was using the battery to save battery life. When the phone is charging, I even take the back cover off my phone to disperse the heat from the battery. Welcome to the most useless and pathetic obsession in existence.
As you can see, the screen takes up the vast majority of battery life, due to being at 50% brightness. Any lower, and I would have to bring my own flashlight. I turn off wireless unless I use the Internet. One charge ranges from 3 to 5 days, depending on how bored I am in school and how much Fruit Ninja/Temple Run I play.
Here I am again with more battery life measurements. Playing Fruit Ninja causes the battery to drain 1% every 3 minutes or so. On the other hand, leaving the phone on sleep mode causes 1% to drain in about 5 hours. Also attached are app percentage power usages to give a sense of what is using up all the battery.

These are my results with above average use(wifi or 3g always on,sync every hour,a little bit of subway surf...)
5h ?? what brightness u were using ?? 30% ? this is cool
How can your battery last so long?? Mine has never lasted more than one day, never!
The screen is always on 50% brightness, except when battery goes under 20 then i set it to 25 %... The screen on is never under 4 h... With heavy use, battery holds through the day easy... I'm very satisfied with the battery life of my L9..

Would some other users report feedback from on their battery life performance??

Can you report do you have power save on from the power options or energy saver.
I know energy saver turns your data off after you idle for more than 15 minutes and the power saver option I have on ( only the display and the cpu settings are on) help. The cpu one throttles your cores to 1.1ghz and the display one lower maximum brightness down.

The funny thing is that HTC is getting a lot of praise for their implementation of auto brightness on this phone. Personally, I feel like it's drastically overdoing it.

So far, Auto Brightness is fine and very responsive for me. No complaints. Battery life seems fine so far also.
Auto brightness and turned power saver on at 15 percent. Took some pictures, gamed, watched YouTube, listened to music, and browsed the Web. I basically just used my phone as I normally would while doing nothing special to save the battery.

guys just buy a battery case!
I'm calling it a day. (This ends my first 24hrs and first battery cycle.) I had to reboot earlier after my number ported over but it's been off the charger for almost 12hrs and under heavy use.

my usage (6 hours of me asleep, LOTS of spotify, some video), i love this batt coming over from nexus s.
Battery so far seems GREAT
This is a screenshot of my new HTC ONE. It wasn't charged to 100% more like 86% and with moderate usage. As of this post I am currently at 39% battery. I don't have power save on. I have automatic brightness own, auto sleep. Been on wifi the whole time all features are turned on(sync,gps,etc..). I love it so far no hardware issues perfect!!
