works fine for me with CM7 installed, even used wifi to download the gamedata...
works on piChrust fw and 0.2.1 faux Kernel
For those of you who have it working I have a question.. Is it REALLY worth the $4.99!? Ive been spoiled by .99c games. Honestly I doubt I purchase it just because of that. But if Im missing out and NEED to play this game could any body offer a brief explanation why? I have read about the game already but would like to hear from someone who is playing on an Atrix. Thanks ahead of time.

i bought it yesterday, but didn't play it for very long. it's a pretty fun game, and the controls were really intuitive. it's exactly how you would want to control a fps on a touch screen, left side of the screen for moving and right for camera.
the graphics were pretty amazing for a smartphone, i was impressed. and i didn't experience any sort of lag, which was even better (using the 1.0ghz enhanced kernel CM7)
i'd say it's worth the 5 dollars, i only got about half an hour into it so far and was already satisfied with my purchase. the animations are all voice acted so far, gameplay is fun, and controls are great for a touch screen.
I highly recommend this game. Well worth the $5. The controls are much better than the gameloft FPS's that I've played and the graphics are amazing. When you compare the price to a console game it's a no brainer purchase.
On the gameloft shooters they kinda auto aim for you (sorta like goldeneye on n64) but on this game once you press the fire button you can move your finger and move your aim, like having dual joysticks. Also the left joystick appears wherever you put your thumb (on the left half of the screen) eliminating the problem of your finger missing the joystick.
The cover system is easy to use and works well. It's nice to have that instead of just having to run around shooting. The enemy AI isn't as good as many console games but miles ahead of other mobile shooters. Enemies will move from cover to cover, one will stick back while the other tries to flank you, etc.
There are a few very minor glitches here and there, but it runs very well on the atrix.
Well worth it...just be ready to kiss your battery byebye

Haven't checked, but i haven't modified it, it's the one from aura 1.2.2.1 deblur aura. Might be the 3.2.0 market messes things up.
Definitely worth it,especially considering it'll get an update for multiplayer in the near future apparently (forgot where i read it but it was a legit source). And the game is great to play, it has great graphics and is very smooth and fast.

Hey all over in the photon forums I have figured out the mapping to be able to use a PS3 controller with the game. I would post a link but I am on mobile. Look in the photon themes and apps. The title is easy to see. Says Shadowgun available for tegra 2 devices. I have only tested the ps3 controller with the photon so hopefully it works for you guys too.

I'm using Aura 1.2.2.0 (just haven't made the upgrade to 1.2.2.2 yet) and had the "download is incompatible with your device" from the market, however, I was able to install via market.android.com
Also... Yesterday(?), there was an update available for the game. After installing it, the character was holding an invisible gun that shelled out little pink blocks. Apparently this was a pretty common problem. This was fixed by reinstalling the game after deleting /sdcard/Android/data/com.madfingergames.shadowgun

Sadly there is no way to make hdmi mirroring with the Atrix... Widescreen that is.
This game is great on both my Atrix and eee pad transformers. For anybody having glitches, just uninstall the game and reinstall. I had to do that on both devices afterthe update. Also for those who have an eee pad with dock, you can plug up an Xbox 360 controller and play the game like it is an Xbox 360 game, just loads faster.

Is the game worth it? It's a bit like asking if it's worth breathing. The graphics are amazing, the controls are very user-friendly and fun, the game runs without any sort of lag or problem and it's like Resident Evil 5 but for mobile phones.
This is the first game that i actually find worth buying for my Atrix.
Ratings: 10/10.

The Atrix does not do HDMI Mirroring in Widescreen.
I suck as FPS and I'm a sucker for eye candy, but I definitely think this is a 10/10. Very well polished game. Some FPS pros might get bored of it but I'm not good enough at the genre to make an informed decision lol
Definitely with $5 or whatever it was.
Was on engadget today and saw that rockstar is going to release GTA 3 for the following devices.
Apple iOS Devices: iPad 1 & 2, iPhone 4 & 4S, iPod touch 4th Generation
Android Phones: HTC Rezound, LG Optimus 2x, Motorola Atrix 4G, Motorola Droid X2, Motorola Photon 4G, Samsung Galaxy R, T-Mobile G2x
Android Tablets: Acer Iconia, Asus Eee Pad Transformer, Dell Streak 7, LG Optimus Pad, Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 and 10.1, Sony Tablet S, Toshiba Thrive
Think we have a shot or not enough power?
We definitely don't have enough power because we can barely run any of the higher end games (shadowgun) I'm sure that well be able to get it running, but probably terribly. Also this game doesn't even have that great of graphics... just bad optimization

Shadowgun runs fine for me on one of the later nightlies overclocked to 1.2ghz. I also have GangStar running with no issues to.

GT racing, Asphalt 6, Modern Combat 2, Sacred Odyssey all run great for me. That being said with Gameloft already having Gangstar (which runs great BTW) there isn't much need for an actual GTA. GTA3 might be worth it if there was a way to put the Real GTA mod on it.
fine, fine maybe shadowgun was a bad example but what about 9mm, riptide, fast five, dungeon defenders, etc. those don't even force you to have a dual core device... remember we're pushing 1024x600(thats 614,400) pixels of 3D on old hardware... also I'm not so sure about the definition of "it runs fine" these days. Some people seem to convince themselves that things run great when they're not (myself included)

How did you get the crosshair in the middle, the damage indication, and the dragable looking area to fill the whole screen??? I've tried tons of different versions to no avail I've even looked at your thread and used the version listed to no avail. thanks in advance
yea gangstar makes gta3 look kind of dated.
I did notice a bunch of slowdowns trying high quality games on my Nook however a second later I noticed I was running on the conservative governor and facepalmed myself.
Switched to performance governor and everything was a breeze...
One way or another, we won't know until it's released, right?
I wouldn't be surprised if it runs. The NC is a little gem. That said, how is it going to playable on a touchscreen? And... an honest question... is GTA III really that fun? I just picked it up in a steam pack and it didn't take too long for me to move onto Vice City (and then stop playing that a little while later). It'll probably be more impressive to run on a phone/tablet but it felt like an early tech demo compared to a lot of "modern" games.

The entire screen is bound to controls, take a look at the picture of it on engadget... its a little overwhelming
Touchscreen controls urgh...
I still pair a PS3 Controller via Bluetooth every time I play PS1 / N64 games on my Nook... I really hope they add Bluetooth Controller support to the game.
Yeah, having real controller support would be nice. I did see the screenshots, and it's just really hard to play games with a virtual d-pad and even just *two* buttons (to me), let alone 6 or 8, especially when it includes what are supposed to be shoulder buttons.
On a side note, I mucked around a little with the onlive app, and that suffers from the same thing (the virtual controls). That said, OnLive does have newer, more compelling games, although it requires a constant, good data connection.
Nook Color seems to me to be able to push Dreamcast level graphics at 1024x600. Most games with that level of graphics seem to run at around 20-30fps at best.
The main reason GTA3 is so much more demanding than seems reasonable is that it's a sandbox game with a large, open world. It's not all that much different than say Elder Scrolls.
Game is out now and market says it should work on the NC. https://market.android.com/details?id=com.rockstar.gta3 Anyone got it to work?
It hangs Nook dead rght after intro movies. CM 7.1.0 Stable.
With chainfire nvidia plugin, screen stays black upon launching the app
soooo I take it as a no go. Darn. Well it works on my electrify but as stated earlier the controls take up way to much room. I'll try a wiimote I guess.
Anyone have any luck getting this to run? Would think it would be possible to and to control it with a PS3 controller connected via bluetooth.
Got it to work! Download GTA 3 version 1.1, use chainfire 3D and set default plugin to POWERVR, awful cellphone video below:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gKN9QRGq09E
EDIT: Will test more in the morning, jump to 1:00 to see 30 seconds of "gameplay" before I flip the car
why do we have to use the powervr plugin? nook color actually has a powervr gpu
I didnt need any plug in. I installed CM7 last night and gta was in "my apps" and it runs better than on my shift. Lol

Tempted to drop the cash on FPSe anyway but if it doesn't work with the joypad then I'll be p1ssed (can't see why not as long as it supports manually assigning buttons).
I swear I bought a PSX emulator in the distant past, ran like a dog on my Nexus One, forgot about it, now can't find it anywhere. Could have been removed like SNESoid. That policy is ---- terrible, at least let us DL the last available version for those who've PAID the money lol.

appreciate it, I'll be getting back to wifi tomorrow (on holidays now so only intermittently available, defo not in a comfortable system tinkering setting rofl) so would appreciate if you let me know how well it works (or not).
SNES emulation w/ PS3 joypad is perfect with SNESdroid (after a bit of manual settings), PSX emulation would be the ultimate.
I don't understand why Sony hasn't gotten off their butts and placed the entire PSX catalogue or as much of it as they can legally manage onto the official PS Store channels, and at a better price point - those ROMs are free money basically. I would happily pay official prices for ease of use/DL etc. if they had a better selection and pricing. (e.g. 3-5 USD per game). Why there's only ten or so titles right now I have no idea (or is there more on the store on Xperia play?).
If they managed it they could basically take an almighty crap on even the apple store's games catalogue in one swoop, the games are all already done and most of them work fine via emulation already.

I have tested to install the FPSE Emulator on my Tablet, launch the FPSE with my PS3 controller connected via bluetooth then proceed to play the game by loading the Street Fighter ROM.
Of course, you will need to disable the on-screen controller layout then configure the hardware keys then you will be able to control using the Digital Pad and Analog joystick to play the game, it is fun playing the Street Fighter game on my Tablet with the PS3 wirelessly.
market error: the item you were attempting to purchase could not be found
?!?!?!?
EDIT: figured it out, its been bloody marked as incompatible in the market for this model. I'm betting Sony had something to do with this. FWIW getting the APK (I bought it on my Atrix) and manually sideloading it works fine.
Bloody sony, typical for them to shoot themselves in the foot (memo: if you're gonna ban emulators, have more than a pathetic dozen games in your official market, and only crap ones at that rofl).
though I do swear even though I'm getting 60fps, it 'feels' way choppier, should be butter smooth but just doesn't feel like it, if I had to guess I would have said ~20-25fps. I do have framelimiter on, because if I have it off the gameplay is on super turbo faster than the human eye lol

I'm running into the same issue. It looks like it has to do with the new dual core option in the latest version (though I'm not sure why it would). I tested different settings with the option to show the fps on. With the Dual core option on it reports that i'm currently running at around 60 fps yet menus and gameplay seemed to sttutter more than they should. With the option off, it reports that I'm around 40 fps and yet menus and gameplay seem smoother. Both os these is with the framelimiter on. I used Hot Shots Golf 2 for testing.
cheers I'll try turning it off lol
edit: You're a GENIUS working great!

Lucky Tegra 3 users.
UPDATE: Full-screen support works if you have a NVIDIA GPU that doesn't use Optimus switching functionality. This was actually done a while ago, and works with all versions of Splashtop (regular, HD, THD). You can read about it here.
Just bought it! Can't wait to test it
Just tried it out and video runs almost perfect! Games was a bit too laggy for me though, but i suspect this beeing because my prime does have a little weak wifi. Anyone get games to work full screen?
Sorry to hear that. I can't test mine yet 'couse I'm at work and Prime is at home.
I'll report back ASAP.
So what are the advantages over the version we already have installed?
Ugh, another version of SplashTop. Why isn't this part of Remote Desktop HD I wonder. I have so many SplashTop apps by now that there's no way I'm going to pay them even more for something like this.
When I load up Skyrim it still asks me to use windowed mode. I thought this allowed direct access to the screen and can run full screen?

So thought I. Doesn't go full screen here either. There are so much lag in games that they are totally unplayable anyways, how did it run for you? Not very smart to launch it to prime only when it has so much wifi issues.
Yeah, I'm confused as well. I bought the HD version, then figured heard on hear there is a slightly less (and not quite as high-horsepowered?) version pre-installed, and now THD? What does this version have that HD doesn't?
They already got $7 out of me. Unless there is a big reason, I think I've already given them a fair amount...

Well on my LAN it ran awesome.. then again my computer's pretty tricked out so maybe that's the case?
I haven't tried with my 4G hotspot yet
I thought with the THD version they figured out some fancy way to virtually connect a controller to the computer, this isn't the case, all they give you is game profiles, which are keyboard buttons mapped to buttons on the controller.
You get ONE profile when you buy the THD version, the Skyrim one, it works, but the movement keys are mapped to WASD so you cant control your movement speed.
They don't even provide us with the mapping software, you have to "request a game" and then they will map the controls and create a new profile, thats stupid.
I mean you could go into all your games and map the keys to use the Skyrim profile, that would work but what about racing games, you don't have a axis for movement just WASD, you slightly pull the joystick left and you are fully pressing down A.
Only positive is that they have proper mouse emulation, you can connect up a mouse change the mode to have the remote computers mouse follow yours and use left click and right click..
Can anyone confirm if this is more stable than the version that came with the prime?
I really like the principal behind it but connection would just drop fairly regularly even when next to the router and server wired in.
Also, is it true like they showed in the demo, streaming video is flawless, as though your at the machine?
Cheers guys, I too have been optimistic and really looking forward to the THD version, is it what we expected?
Does this version have remote desktop via the internet?
THD version is optimized for Tegra3 chip. the HD version is just like a tablet version. that was out before tegra3. now tegra3 has a version specifically for us that makes the most out of power or whatever. people experiencing lag on game, if your computer don't at least meet minimum requirements, lag is to be expected. if it does meet specs and you have a fast internet connection then you should be good. can't wait to try this out.
I'm hoping this include this in the next update for us. only fitting we should have it since we the only tegra3 device on the market right now. plus this is the version that really should have shipped with the prime.
Wow, great. I just bought regular HD because I got tired of how unstable the connection in the MyCloud version was and how we weren't getting any updates to fix that.
Why bother including any apps if this is what happens?

in the market description it says yes. it says you can access from anywhere or anytime or any place. as long as your PC at home has the desktop splastop streamer installed and running connected to internet, you should be able to access it anywhere in the world from your prime. as long as prime getting internet connection itself. and a decent one at that.
Great, I had just purchased the HD version last night!:/ Sheesh...
so how fast should my Connection be to even make use of this version? My max is around 17Mb/s. Usually i'm getting speeds between 10-15Mb/s. DSL sucks...

Thank you for that
so whats the final verdict. Can you play games full screen from your PC to the prime?
Hey xda-ers
I've been on the cm9 beta for a little while now and it seems like there are a lot of games that work quite well in the alpha and some that are a screen-tearing, frame-dropping mess. So I have the idea to start up this thread, a thread primarily dedicated to sharing which games work really well on cm9. I personally will be posting review sort of things on here that go quite in-depth but you guys can post in however much detail you want. You can post about the hardest of hardcore games to the easiest of casual games but as long as its relevant it will hopefully be appreciated. I do want to have a couple of rules for this thread and they're as follows:
*No bashing other peoples reviews or opinions- everyone is entitled to their own opinion and while I'm ok with a respectful discussion I don't want flame wars in here.
*Please keep it relevant to cm9- this thread is about _cm9_ gaming, I don't care if you go and make a gaming thread for a different rom but I don't want posts about cm7 or MIUI in here.
*have fun- don't feel obligated to post something if you don't want to. Try to have fun in here and I'll try to too.
Well thanks guys I hope we can all help each other find some good games to play, please follow the rules and hopefully this will be a nice thread to be in.
Help make this community a little nicer guys!
Thanks
-Silente

Well I'll be kicking things off!
My first recommendation/review:
Dungeon Defenders: Second wave
Overview-
Dungeon defenders is a mix between a tower defense fantasy game and a traditional 3d RPG. The main premise is that the kingdoms heroes have gone off to defeat some great evil and have left their kids to guard the castle. In each area/map there is an eternia crystal that you have to set up towers and traps and such to defend from the waves of monsters.
Gameplay-
Gameplay is mainly governed by one of four classes each with their own play styles and pros/cons.
The apprentice-
The long ranged, magic user who places down towers that shoot long range projectiles.
The apprentice is the easiest class to use and is by far the best for beginners as his towers are the easiest to start off with and his skills are easy to understand and use.
The huntress-
The long ranged, assassin class.
The huntress wields either a crossbow or gun that deals long ranged damage and places down traps that activate when stepped on by monsters. The huntress can be somewhat hard to use due to her slightly less straightforward traps.
The squire-
The close ranged tank.
The squire combines melee attacks with brutal close ranged towers to destroy enemies quickly up close.
The Knight has some of the best starter towers in the game but he is at somewhat of a disadvantage without teammates to back him up due to his only close range play style.
The monk-
The all around skillful class.
The monk combines the first three classes in a Jack of all trades sort of play style. He has a melee attack as well as a long ranged magic attack with towers that deal different affects when stepped on by enemies. He is definately the hardest class to play due to his lack of a prominent skill and towers that need some getting used to and upgrades to really learn how to use effectively.
So once you've chosen a class its time to jump into the game.
There's a helpful tutorial that you can jump into but its not a super complicated game at first. Each map is made up of different rounds. At the end of each round chests will appear with Mana in them, the currency you use to build towers and buy or upgrade things after the round has ended. You also get mana from killing the various mobs that spawn throughout the wave. You also earn xp that goes towards level ups that let you carry more mana and unlocks new towers for you to build. Also when you level up you can attribute skill points to different skills such as player or tower damage, health, speed etc etc. Monsters also drop random items which you can equip or sell in between rounds.
After the round is over you can buy and sell weapons and armor, and upgrade you currently have equipped. The sheer number of weapons and upgrades you can apply to them makes it easy to make sure no two are the same.
Multiplayer-
The multiplayer element of this game is WHERE ITS AT! This game really shines through and its super easy to jump into a match and start playing as long as you have a good internet connection (which at time of writing I didn't). All you need to do is sign up for a game spy account which while can sometimes be a hassle keeps the hackers and cheaters out and keeps the fun consistent. Once you've made that account you can quick join a game or open up a server browser to pick between maps, difficulties and game modes. Once you join its smooth sailing and the different classes are very well designed to overlap and coordinate together in the multi player game modes. If you can get several friends to get this you will have a great time indeed.
Controls-
There aren't too many options for the controls but overall they're not too bad. The way to move your character is to rotate the wheel-ish joystick in the left portion of the screen. That controls both movement and direction mind you so it might take a little bit to get used to but once you do its just fine. Its hard to describe exactly how to use it because I've never seen another control scheme like it. The buttons around the other edges of the screen control other movement controls such as jumping or attacking, as well as selecting what towers to build (actual placement is done through touch input) or what abilities to activate or spells to cast. The game defaults to having the actual movement touchpad being invisible but that seems really stupid so I recommend turning that off in the settings. So while not completely perfect the controls are definately usable and should be relatively easy to learn for most users.
Graphics/Performance on cm9-
The game has a graphics slider that allows you to go from HD crisp graphics to blurry pixelated retro goodness. On the highest graphics setting the screen tearing really sets in but on lower resolution on the slider you can get very good performance on cm9. Overall it performs quite well with no hw accel and it will only get better once we get full acceleration.
Verdict-
Overall this game offers up some great RPG game play mixed in with some tower defense elements and kick ass multi player. The controls are manageable and if you want to have some long term fun, (as you can go quite in depth) this is a great choice and for a free game it couldn't be a better deal. I'd recommend it to any Android gamer and its a great game.

Love the idea of this thread
I'd love to contribute but I've found that with cm9 I haven't been able to find most of my favorite games on the market
Yeah, that's a problem, although most of them would run. Try using Apk leecher on your PC and then side loading them. Might work, but I'm not sure if you can download paid apps even if you've bought them.

Oh! I bought that awhile back, I'll have to re-DL it and try it out on cm9!

One thing that doesn't work is using three fingers to access the menu. I get around this by opening up the recent apps thing and closing it, which then pauses the game, opening the menu.
Also, swiping to slow down/speed up the game does not seem to work as well.
Draw Something, Angry bird's, Sonic CD and Plants vs Zombies work great
Unfortunately my favorites don't show up and I'd love to test them
Shadowgun, FIFA 12, Modern Combat 3, Asphalt 6, Riptide GP, and NOVA 2

Yeah, I've been considering getting sonic CD, are the controls any good? As that's kind of important in a sonic game.

I loved it beat it in one night lol
I find all games I've played so far worked well especially Cut the Rope experiments. My only complaint was that play store didn't work for me I don't know if that's a known problem but felt it should be mentioned. Though back on topic the games I've tried so far play smooth.
Can some one confirm list of Gameloft working on CM9?

With the default cm9 build.prop the gameloft games dont work. I'll try modifying mine to look like a Droid 3 (which worked fine for cm7) and get back to you on that. I'll also mention their performance too. If I get the chance to DL the big-ass game data.

Side loaded some of my games I was unable to download on Play Store
Fifa12 - "device not compatible "
Modern combat 3 - "device not compatible "
Riptide G P - works fine
Temple Run - you can play but controls are very unresponsive
Shadowgun - you can play but controls are almost completely unresponsive
Nova 2 - "device not compatible "

For the device not conptable message, you can edit the build.prop, I w able to get it to work on cm7 by spoofing a droid3. Dunno about cm9 though.

Haven't changed my build.prop because no one has said it is OK to do so as of yet nor what i would change. I like the play store recognizing the nook as a tablet as well
You know... it's funny. Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time, mupen64plus emulator, ran with amazing speed in CM7. However the video and colors were kinda bad. Like buttons just looked weird, and sometimes there would be random squares.
HOWEVER. On CM9, the video and graphics are superlative. However, it lags obviously. Not TOO much... I mean it's definitely playable, but if you are fighting Gannondorf it's kind of annoying. Hopefully rebellos will get this kind of thing working for us.
