Lucky Tegra 3 users.
UPDATE: Full-screen support works if you have a NVIDIA GPU that doesn't use Optimus switching functionality. This was actually done a while ago, and works with all versions of Splashtop (regular, HD, THD). You can read about it here.
Just bought it! Can't wait to test it
Just tried it out and video runs almost perfect! Games was a bit too laggy for me though, but i suspect this beeing because my prime does have a little weak wifi. Anyone get games to work full screen?
Sorry to hear that. I can't test mine yet 'couse I'm at work and Prime is at home.
I'll report back ASAP.
So what are the advantages over the version we already have installed?
Ugh, another version of SplashTop. Why isn't this part of Remote Desktop HD I wonder. I have so many SplashTop apps by now that there's no way I'm going to pay them even more for something like this.
When I load up Skyrim it still asks me to use windowed mode. I thought this allowed direct access to the screen and can run full screen?

So thought I. Doesn't go full screen here either. There are so much lag in games that they are totally unplayable anyways, how did it run for you? Not very smart to launch it to prime only when it has so much wifi issues.
Yeah, I'm confused as well. I bought the HD version, then figured heard on hear there is a slightly less (and not quite as high-horsepowered?) version pre-installed, and now THD? What does this version have that HD doesn't?
They already got $7 out of me. Unless there is a big reason, I think I've already given them a fair amount...
Anyone else frustrated by the Sshift Kkey Bbug on the HD version? Ii Rreally Hhope Tthey Ffix Iit Ssoon... (Makes it pretty tough to get some serious work done)

Well on my LAN it ran awesome.. then again my computer's pretty tricked out so maybe that's the case?
I haven't tried with my 4G hotspot yet
I thought with the THD version they figured out some fancy way to virtually connect a controller to the computer, this isn't the case, all they give you is game profiles, which are keyboard buttons mapped to buttons on the controller.
You get ONE profile when you buy the THD version, the Skyrim one, it works, but the movement keys are mapped to WASD so you cant control your movement speed.
They don't even provide us with the mapping software, you have to "request a game" and then they will map the controls and create a new profile, thats stupid.
I mean you could go into all your games and map the keys to use the Skyrim profile, that would work but what about racing games, you don't have a axis for movement just WASD, you slightly pull the joystick left and you are fully pressing down A.
Only positive is that they have proper mouse emulation, you can connect up a mouse change the mode to have the remote computers mouse follow yours and use left click and right click..
Can anyone confirm if this is more stable than the version that came with the prime?
I really like the principal behind it but connection would just drop fairly regularly even when next to the router and server wired in.
Also, is it true like they showed in the demo, streaming video is flawless, as though your at the machine?
Cheers guys, I too have been optimistic and really looking forward to the THD version, is it what we expected?
Does this version have remote desktop via the internet?
THD version is optimized for Tegra3 chip. the HD version is just like a tablet version. that was out before tegra3. now tegra3 has a version specifically for us that makes the most out of power or whatever. people experiencing lag on game, if your computer don't at least meet minimum requirements, lag is to be expected. if it does meet specs and you have a fast internet connection then you should be good. can't wait to try this out.
I'm hoping this include this in the next update for us. only fitting we should have it since we the only tegra3 device on the market right now. plus this is the version that really should have shipped with the prime.
Wow, great. I just bought regular HD because I got tired of how unstable the connection in the MyCloud version was and how we weren't getting any updates to fix that.
Why bother including any apps if this is what happens?

in the market description it says yes. it says you can access from anywhere or anytime or any place. as long as your PC at home has the desktop splastop streamer installed and running connected to internet, you should be able to access it anywhere in the world from your prime. as long as prime getting internet connection itself. and a decent one at that.
Great, I had just purchased the HD version last night!:/ Sheesh...
so how fast should my Connection be to even make use of this version? My max is around 17Mb/s. Usually i'm getting speeds between 10-15Mb/s. DSL sucks...

so whats the final verdict. Can you play games full screen from your PC to the prime?

OnLive's gaming app was released today for Android... you can find it on the market at
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.onlive.client
I don't have my NC with me, but I tried it out on my phone. It works at least! I didn't really get to play much but hey, it's there
FYI, there is a special controller that is coming later this month too (tomorrow?), although it's supposed to be $50. Hopefully it at least comes with a free game.
PS. if you sign into onlive through the app, you can get Lego Batman for free.
Anyone have the .apk file so we can try it out? It doesn't show up in the market for my T-mobile Samsung galaxy s 2
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
People in the article on engadget mentioned it was posted at http://onlivefans.com. I didn't find it just by looking quickly, but maybe try a search
I got it, ill post it soon. It's running laggy on my NC but I bet its my crappy 3mb internet connection, since i keep getting a message that my connection dropped lower than the minimum
Here is the apk hope it works
Ok, cool. I'm interested in the new controller they have coming out. I did not find much information on if you could use other controllers, but it sounded like "no" for Android: http://onlivefans.com/showthread.php?14160-The-Controller-FAQ
I haven't been able to try it on my NC yet, but on my phone the graphics were fairly blurry but it was mostly pretty responsive (just navigating the UI and playing the first couple seconds of Lego Batman). I was on 3G because Verizon's having another 4G outage apparently, so I'll have to see how it goes on my home wifi or 4g when it comes back.
Anyone having issues with not finding in Market or the apk not side loading likely can go to onlive.com/hardware_mobile and click the Market link that shows there. Had to change my dpi to 160 to install but worked great after that. I had to go this route on my 2 bionics and the NC.
It runs great on CM 7.1.0.1 (Stable)
I tried playing games on my Nook Color like N.O.V.A. 2 HD and after getting my @$$ handed to me in the game because the NC wasn't fast enough to respond to my controls I tried the OnLive game service and I have to say it's pretty sweet.
I didn't notice any lag whatsoever when I played a few minutes of LEGO: Batman and I was using the on-screen touch controls the whole time since I don't have their universal game controller.
I'm not a serious gamer but my 5 year old is really getting into it. He already is monopolizing time on my other android devices playing games. Since LEGO: Batman is his favorite at the moment I've been forced to drag out the old Playstation 2 console out of the closet. Now that I've got this to work on my NC I can get rid of the PS2 finally and contain all of his gaming on the NC.
Hi all,
I was hoping someone could offer some advice.
I am due to be working away from home for half the month and at the moment my set up at home consists of a beast of a gaming rig. I don't want to fork out for an expensive gaming laptop and thought the prime might be a good option for me.
So a few questions...
1. How do the remote desktop applications fare on the prime? Essentially I would need to use the prime to wake up my pc at home, control torrent downloads and maybe play a game with low graphic demands like football manager (i'm not expecting BF3 or other FPS...could an MMO work via remote desktop? like TOR?)
2. With regards to the "cloud storage" do you get 2gb with the transformer prime? if so can this also be accessed via a pc at home? So I could for example...
Remotely download a movie.
Put the movie file onto the cloud storage.
Access the movie file from my prime so that I can watch it in an area without wifi.
3. Is there a way to add a 3g dongle to the prime?
4. I am due a phone upgrade in March. I currently have a HTC desire which has stood the test of time for it's 2 year contract. Money is a little tight so I was considering getting my phone upgrade and sticking it on ebay to cover most of the prime's cost. I figure I only need a phone for calls and the built in sat nav and the prime can do the rest. also my HTC desire can only get me £75 from mobile recycling places.
5. As I have to wait until March is there a tablet I have overlooked which will be released in March that would be superior to this...basically if i am waiting until March should I hold out for something else?
Thanks in advance for the replies everyone!

1 the preloaded software only works when the laptop is already in but it is smooth enough to play something simple
2 yes download movie in PC upload top cloud storage them you can watch it without wifi our already some services allow that
3 no 3g dongle it's a wifi tablet
4 get the nexus a you can find them cheap and feet ics on them
5 tablets well be the same by March all quad core all same resolution that's my view anyway all you can do its wait and pick on personal opinion

I meant already on* so the laptop has to be open already so you can't turn it on from the tablet and go into the my cloud app then my desktop there is the software to do this

I use Teamviewer, it runs the computer just like I was in front of it, never tried major gaming on it though. I don't think it would work well since most of the login apps out there decrease colors and other things to enhance performance.
2. With regards to the "cloud storage" do you get 2gb with the transformer prime? if so can this also be accessed via a pc at home? So I could for example...
You get 8 gb, and yes you can access/sync it from any computer. I use it to sync my work, Prime, and home computer files
Remotely download a movie.
Put the movie file onto the cloud storage.
Access the movie file from my prime so that I can watch it in an area without wifi.
In order to do that it will have to be downloaded first to your prime, but it can be done.

right now it really is a waiting game to see what other tablets come out by then, if any. Probably the Ipad3 will be out, and I would guess 1-2 more Tegra 3 tabs, but they may hit production delays just like the prime did, no one really knows, right now it is a crap shoot. The great part is this tab is going to be competitive with anything that comes out next year for the most part.
Thanks in advance for the replies everyone!

Ok, my msg is too short....
You can control your PC over the internet using TeamViewer. No, you won't be able to play an MMO or do other major gaming on it. I guarantee you that TOR will be a slideshow, you'll be able to gather nodes (if you log near them) and manage Crew Missions but that's about it.
If you are running Windows7 you will need to use a Magic Packet to wake your PC to manage torrents, etc. I believe there is also an Android app that will remotely manage Mircotorrent (aka uTorrent) remotely without requiring you to manage your PC.
You can share your files via DropBox (or similar) as long as you are mindful of the 2GB limit.
No better tablet has been announced for March release yet, and if it were (given the industry standard of badly slipped release dates) I wouldn't count on it. Now if one had been announced with a January release....
You can remote in using Splashtop HD to remote in. It transmits both video and audio. Just have to install remote viewer software on the pc.

In relation to the 3g single question, Asus feel that as android phones can tether then peeople would just tether to their prime. Obviously they are assuming that everyone with a prime will already have a smart phone with tethering available, this is a stretch.

wow some fantastic comments thank you all.
I think there has to be a limit to expectation here. I'm not expecting the remote desktop to run things perfectly but it won't be it's primary function otherwise I'd just get a laptop.
So £500 then...I wonder if carphonewarehouse would do a deal if you buy a contract from them.
splashtop HD or built in splashtop in mycloud in mydesktop should work fine for video or gaming. just make sure to load reviewer on to PC. pretty simple setup. load reviewer on PC. load on tablet. enter names and passwords on both devices and your good to go.
another thing to look at for gaming is OnLive. its out for Android. allows you to play PC/console/Indie games through the cloud on OnLive servers. response time is fastest out there and basically no lag. feels just as if you natively playing the game. there are some great games up there like PC/Nvidia optimized Batman Arkham City, Homefront fps, Metro 2033, unreal tournament(PC version), etc.. the games look and play great on the prime. no loss in quality basically. the app is free from marketplace. free to make an account. you get to play all the games with a free 30 min. trial period. you can flat out buy the game but best seems to be the bundle package. for $9.99 a month you have unlimited access to 100's of top notch PC/console games. I was playing Darksiders, through OnLive, on my prime. no lag at all, graphics looked sick. definitely a cool experience and great deal considering the caliber and number of games they have up there.

Do you have ICS?
nVidia showed Splashtop at the CES Keynote and played Skyrim in Full-screen...
Maybe you should give the market app a try.
even on Wifi there is a 2 second lag....
So hope your playing a RPG like Final Fantasy because the lag would kill you otherwise
Even Skyrim was unplayable.. he could move around but couldn't kill anything due to lag nor move the camera so he was facing the SKY
you could maybe stream a movie but if you going thru all this hassel just download to your SD card and call it a day or get Netflix, Amazon Prime etc etc

I don't think Splashtop THD is the same as the Splashtop HD that's included in My Cloud. (and word of advise, if you're a Transformer user, avoid the $9.99 Splashtop HD version on the Android Market as it's the same versioin as what's included on My Cloud),
there's not enough info yet on Splashtop THD except that's it's been showcase at CES this past week.

The official article isn't very clear about a separate version actually being released? Makes it sound like the usual version will just have improved functionality. At the end of the day it just needs to be updated to allow applications to run that require 'direct screen access'... I wonder if Mycloud will automatically update it's app.
Wow I feel like an idiot for spending £5 on Splashtop HD. Though I read Splashtop can remote desktop your pc from anywhere but my cloud can only do it on the same wifi network?
No matter.
I find I can run games provided they are in windowed mode. Football manager 2012 was easily playable including the fast match engine.
I havent tried anything like FIFA or GTA (especially as I have icenhancer) but when I get a free day I'll give it a shot.
If you're playing turned based games I think it works fine but you probably won't have the reflexes to play COD/BF3 especially against online opponents. You should also consider that anything like teamspeak or steam etc wont work because your microphone on the prime isnt the one used to speak to others.
I can stream VLC movies quite happily and dont notice any lag. Though if it drops out it immediately plays on my PC downstairs which, when it has the sound turned on...scares the living daylights out of anyone who is downstairs.
I wouldn't advise streaming pron in this manner. Accidents happen.

I'm not sure if this is old news or not, but the Skyrim demo at CES had a USB XBOX 360 controller connected to the prime dock. The Nvidia rep said that they preloaded all major USB controller drivers onto the prime.

Splashtop is already pre-installed under the mynet icon, or whatever it's called, same icon you use to access the webstorage
you have 3 sections on the left, the middle one is Splashtop

Just an FYI....the installed splashtop is under the MyCloud icon.
THE op means the Tegra3 optimized version shown off at CES, Splashtop THD. THE ONE where the people used the THD version to play Elder Scrolls Skyrim on his Prime.
I haven't been able to find a release date on this either. Looking forward to the release, whenever it is.
So still no news on a release date at all? I'm dying for this app!
The Splashtop that comes loaded on the Transformer Prime is a slightly modified version of Splashtop HD. The OP is asking about Splashtop THD which is an upcoming version of Splashtop customized for Tegra-based tablets and devices.
Here is a video of Splashtop THD being used to play Skyrim.

I'd like to know as well. Any news on the release date?
Damn it, I just bought Splashtop HD while it was on sale for $6.
Now I suppose I'm not going to get a free upgrade......
Must say the HD version already works perfectly fine... Will try skyrim on it to see how that goes and how the responsiveness is though. But believe I could watch a video fine (playing on the pc, watching it through splashtop hd on the tablet) already.

Didn't work... when starting skyrim splashtophd says it can not run apps with direct screen access and wants me to run it in windows mode. But in windows mode I just get a black window.
Also, the xbox360 controller blinks all 4 lights when connected (as opposed to 1 for 'player1' when connected to the pc) so dunno if that one works either.

Yes there is a difference between HD and THD. The THD version allows communication between Tegra 3 and your computers graphics card. I'm assuming so your host computers GPU can render the graphics specifically for the tablets pixel density and I imagine there is some sharing of the work as well to lesson lag. You will be able to play games in full screen and your computer HAS to have an Nvidia GPU or the THD version will not work for you.
The HD version is just like the original but optimized for tablets to take advantage of the larger screens and whatnot.
Any news on this? Can't find much on Google.
The HD version that comes with the Prime is okay, but it's pretty laggy. Nothing like what I see in that video where you can play a game on it. Looking forward to a better version.

Thanks for the info, just bought it!
EDIT: 'Splashtop Streamer does not support applications which need to run in full screen mode now. Please switch to windowed mode.'
...are you friggin kidding me?
As far as i heard, it yet only works with Skyrim?!
I also heard that u need a nvidia gpu in order to get it working...
/fail imo

I have an HD 6XXX series and it works just fine.
Except that Skyrim runs like ****. It works, but it's utter ****. Mouse has a sensitivity that's over 9000, and using an xbox 360 controller only works to look around.

I know.... Pisses me off. Left a 1 star review for a delivery of lies.
I posted this in the other thread, but, just to make sure everyone sees it:
Full-screen support works if you have a NVIDIA GPU that doesn't use Optimus switching functionality. This was actually done a while ago, and works with all versions of Splashtop (regular, HD, THD). You can read about it here.

NOWHERE in the description of the app does it state you NEED a NVIDIA Card to have certain features, just that these cards are recommended. Last product I bought from Splashtop, ever.

If you look closely, the THD description says nothing about playing full-screen 3D games. That's a feature that's supported by Splashtop Streamer, because it's the piece actually collecting the data from the computer. I imagine there's some sort of low-level tie-in that has to be done on the graphics card to support this high-quality, low-latency video that they're pulling.
If ATI wanted to, they could probably get Splashtop to offer the same level of support with their cards. Who knows, at this point, if they have, or if Splashtop is exclusively in NVIDIA's pocket.

Don't know anything about the implementation, but my guess is the Streamer emulates a monitor to fetch the data from the graphics card. At least that's the way I would do things if I had to implement such a software. Any card is capable of doing that. My guess is it is really an exclusivity thing with NVIDIA.
Oh and btw, I never planned on playing any fancy 3D games, I think the task I need Splashtop to perform could be handled even by my good old Riva TNT

Oh, god, I hope you don't plan on displaying more than an 80s terminal.

little slow on understanding this.
Have a Asus N53SN that have Nvidia GT550M and the Intel HD optimus thing.
If i want to make splashtop work best should i some way kill, turn off the intel graphics and make the computer only run on the GT550M? Or can i make it so when i connect to splashtop it switch from Intel HD to GT550M?

Nah, but would fancy some Blade Runner, so 90s it is
So I have an nvidia gtx 260m on my laptop, and so far this app works extremely well for everything I've tried. They need to make the mouse and prime keyboard work better before you can really use it for gaming, but I played League of Legends in full screen and it actually works pretty well. I used my mouse and keyboard connected to my computer, and it was completely playable, so hopefully once they get the input stuff figured out and add some game profiles, this will be a pretty sweet app if you have an nvidia card already. I also played stepmania some, but that didn't go nearly as well, haha...
I just tried it out, runs like sh*t. However I'm guessing the computer and tablet both have to be sitting directly next to the router, or at least in the same room.

Your computer should only be using one of these anyways. Why would you ever use your Intel integrated graphics over a dedicated card? Should disable the Intel one so you can free up whatever ram it has partitioned off for itself.
Played Skyrim. Used Onlive Controller. Worked.
edit: it kinda does, but then gets weird. Damnit.
skyrim with logitech f310 controller works like charm. fps could be better (on desktop i have around 80fps and on laptop its around 20 i would say, from the looks of it), but its playable.
I posted this in the general thread but..
So my setup is a i7 2600K with a Gigabyte Z68 motherboard with onboard video connections to take advantage of the Intel HD graphics of the i7 chip. I have a GeForce GTX 580 video card and a dual monitor setup. Couldn't for the life of me get full screen Skyrim working and someone here said that only window mode was supported and that they used a borderless mod..
So I tried unplugging the second monitor. That didn't work. Tried reinstalling drivers on my Windows 7 64-bit machine. That didn';t work.. Contacted Splashtop and they suggested me disabling the Intel graphics option on the mobo. Did that and uninstalled the drivers.. Still windowed mode and Splashtop still didn't say Optimized for NVIDIA.. Then I got this email:
The settings for dual-display-chip case is a little complicated, we also experienced this on ASUS motherboard, not sure same as yours, please take as a reference.
1.check your motherboard, it should have a HDMI interface, attach another monitor with HDMI cable. This is the most important step to be able to utilize nvidia display. (in our case, nvidia display is not default used display)
2.exit Splashtop streamer from system tray
3.find Splashtop streamer program icon(not shortcut) from Windows Start menu, then right click on it
4.you can see a context menu pop-up, and a menu item/sub-menu like "execute by GPU processor.../..nvidia..."
5.by this way, you can see Optimize for Geforce enabled.
Please have a try.
So, I plugged in an HDMI cable from the motherboard to the second unplugged monitor. I rebooted and BAM, Splashtop says Optimized for NVIDIA now. I didn't have to do steps 2-5.
I connected with my Prime and loaded up Skyrim. Finally, it played full screen and it played really really well. No borderless mod, no windows.. It was true full screen.
I'm going to try it with my LTE hotspot next and try USB mouse later on.. but yes, you can get full screen gaming with the right setup and have it play really really well.
it must have changed as i can clearly see it states
Notice: This version is only compatible with NVIDIA’s Tegra 3 equipped tablets (Ice Cream Sandwich). To play Skyrim in FULL screen mode, you need a computer with NVIDIA GeForce graphics card or else the game can only be played in windowed view. Please visit http://bit.ly/ymiiFg for more details.
