[Q] Social Hub won't display Facebook messages - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I might be one of the few people who actually likes the Social Hub app on my SGS2 but one thing drives me nuts - it refuses to display any Facebook messages. The Feed section works fine and Twitter messages display OK. No errors occur when it syncs and clearing the app data doesn't help. I even removed the Facebook account and added it again but nope, no messages.
Is this a known issue?

Yes. facebook message problem. last 24 hour same problem.

I suggest you to use "friendcaster pro for facebook" . It is 100 times better than stock FB app...

[Q] Facebook contact sync error (screenshot attached)

Note: It's working again! Looks like a server issue from Samsung which they might have fixed. See post #6.
I replaced my old phone for dead pixel. On the new phone, I restored contacts, and synced with Facebook (Social Hub), but I get the following error and FB contacts are not getting loaded -
"Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly."
I tried the following but didn't help -
1. Reset phone, sync with FB contacts before anything else - didn't help
2. Remove Samsung Mobile app from Facebook (from the browser in App management) - and remove mobile account at the same time. Reconnect mobile account. Didn't help.
The Facebook App's sync works though, and syncs with the contacts! Unfortunately the way it syncs is not compatible with third party apps like Viber or WhatsApp who try to read the phone numbers from contacts list.
I know this has been posted sometimes before, but that was 1 year ago with Froyo. Is there a solution to this?

Facebook Samsung Social Hub sync error
I also have the same problem with my Galaxy s2. My problem started with a session expired error. Now i get "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly"View attachment 748549
I have the same problem after flashing KI8 firmware. It was working fine with 2.3.3 and 2.3.4. But I can sync messages.
Looks like it is a current problem that the servers are facing. I will report back when it works (if ) for me!
Same thing happening for me on my T-mobile GS2. Social Hub FB Calendar syncs OK but not Contacts nor Messages.
My regular FB account sync (that comes with the regular FB Android app) is syncing contacts just fine however.. So I can see my FB contacts from the Contacts/Phone app, but the Activies, History, and Media tabs (which I assume are fed via the Social Hub FB syncs) are empty.
The Social Hub service is back online on my SGSII. Everything is green. Samsung must have fixed their server issue.
Thanks, checked, it's working!

Thank you! I looked at your post and checked, it's working for me as well. It means now Viber and WhatsApp can analyze my address book again
I will post a comment in the original message.

Facebook issues

I just got the Rezound, stock. I can't stop facebook from wanting to sync with my calender and phone book. I delete it under accounts/sync and when I check back, it is there again. I also get a "auth htc sense to acces facebook" notification alot. I don't want face book to sync with anything on my phone and I can't get it to stop. It's driving me crazy. On my incredible, just deleted facebook under accounts/sync and no issues. Also under people on the pulldown, face book is unchecked and also I stopped the sync for face book too. But all the face book stuff is present in my phone. I've also been reading there are two types of facebook, regular facebook and facebook for sense, whatever that means. Please help
did you also turn off syncing within the facebook app itself?
also, try leaving the account there in the accounts and sync settings, but click it and uncheck everything, see if that'll work. may still have to change the people and calender settings to not show FB stuff also, but may stop it.
but sounds rather wonky, may be worth clearing data/cache of the app, then uninstalling and reinstalling.
There really isn't a "Facebook and Facebook for HTC Sense." One is just the FB app, while the other is the Sense integration of FB, such as the widgets, uploads, and sycning, that don't actually require the app to be installed.

Facebook messages notification

Just bought the SG3, i get facebook notifications from groups and such, but when someone is chatting or sending me a message on facebook i dont get any notifications at all
Any idea? Tried uninstalling/installing , and rebooting phone
Did you install both Facebook app and Messenger app ? Notifications for direct messages work best if you install BOTH apps and only use Messenger for direct messaging. Hope this helps.
Thanks. Yes i installed both first. But i was told by another user with GS3 that he didnt have the messenger app installed and still got notifications about messages.
Installed messenger again and got my notifications.
Asked him later, looks like he had the messenger installed aswell
Did you check your Facebook settings inside of the FB app itself?? There is a whole section for Notifications and also a section for Chat.
I installed the Facebook Messenger app, and immediately started getting message notifications.

Need email setup help please, coming from iphone with gmail push exchange - HELP ME

Coming from iPhone, using gmail sync exchange (setting up gmail as exchange server), used with 2 gmail accounts, everything got pushed properly, instantly, etc... contacts, emails, calendar and bookmarks.
Moved to Samsung Galaxy S3 on T-mobile USA.
Tried the gmail app... this worked, but the interface was terrible. Forces you to scroll left and right to read email - I can't understand that. Why not "FIT TO SCREEN WIDTH" option? Panning around an email just seems silly to me - sorry. All email is fit to width on the iphone and so I'm spoiled to that.
Tried the "email" app that came stock on the GS3... Not much different from the gmail app. with the exception I can see "ALL INBOXES" which is also the way I want it.
Then I found K-9 Mail, which has a format to screen size (fit to width) YAY... formats the emails correctly... YAY!!! But has some kind of a network issue... EATS data ALL DAY LONG. And with eating the data, the battery just gets drained like a bath tub.
No matter how the phone is connected to data, beit wifi or mobile network - there is constant data traffic. I checked using network manager, and finally after sorting by active data connection, and trial and error I figured out it was K9. If I go to settings, background sync has a few options, but the only 1 of the 4 that STOPS the massive data eating is when I set it to NEVER which obviously STOPS emails from coming in.
Surely this can't be right... what am I doing wrong?
Is there an email app that will get GMAIL PUSH EMAIL from 2 accounts without eating data and battery? and also format the incoming emails to FIT TO SCREEN WIDTH...?????????????
Does anyone have any news on this subject?
Push email was available on the native S2 email client.
I vote for native apps first.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app

[Q] Facebook Messenger consistent crashing

I have a very strange issue with my Facebook Messenger right now. I tried searching on her but found squat.
The problem is very specific. When I clear a notification about a direct message on Facebook (Regardless if its in the Facebook Messenger app or the regular Facebook app (I have different accounts on them as I have a business, has never been an issue before)), the Facebook Messenger app force closes. Every time.
So basically it goes like this.
I receive a direct message on Facebook or Facebook Messenger.
My phone gives me a notification.
I clear the notification.
Facebook Messenger Force Closes.
What's weirdest to me is that it crashes even though I have different accounts signed in. It should be noted I have tried being on the same account on both, and it still crashed. At first I thought it was my phone, but I just changed from a Motorola Razr XT910 to an LG G2 D802, and the issue persists.
What's the cause of this, and how do I solve it?
