Anyone have luck installing the latest out of Mountain View? Seems like the NT would be a great platform for it. When I try to load the apk it stops mid-installation with "App not installed."

Works fine for me. I installed it on a CM7 HP Touchpad, and backed up the apk to install on the NT.
btw, my NT is rooted.
Edit: here's the apk if anyone wants to try it.

Strange, I'm rooted too, tried again with your apk and got the same result.
Kindle Fire people are having issue installing too, something about missing some google framework files. maybe their procedure could help:

Not working for me either.
Unrooted, been sideloading other google apps with minimal issue. Downloading from megaupload, the dowload bar pops up and i get the message "Waiting for data connection," but nothing. Megaupload has given me trouble before.

So it finally went through, but now it gives me a parse error.
Good find -- I followed the whole procedure and it worked.
My first impression, though, is that the app doesn't format text well on the NT compared to my phone. Medium text size is too big and the margins are huge; and small text size splits the text into two columns, which looks ridiculous and is difficult to read (only 3-5 words across a column). Hope google fixes that in the next release.

Thanks for the tip. I installed on my Iconia A500, backed up to SD, etc. and got it installed on the Nook Tab.
Cool app.
Works great on my nook tablet had to use an apk from my evo (because incompatible with your device b.s.). I use es explorer to tranfer apks to my lan network then download them on my nook. Works perfect syncs my google reader feeds automaticaly looks really nice.
Working beautifully on my NT, thanks google for making yet another beautiful app

It will not install for me either. Tried two different APK's including the one from megaupload.
BTW I am not rooted but Google Framework is installed.
Guess I'll stick with Feedly until someone figures this out.

Thanks for the link. Works just fine on my NT. I think it looks pretty good on here.
Downloaded it to my G2x, copied the apk to my dropbox and uploaded in on my NT. Works great.
works fine for me, great app!
installed it from the apk found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20114966&postcount=1 (General Android Themes & Apps Forum)
had no errors

Sorry if this is already reported, but Netflix has upgraded the client and it is no longer available in the market. Is there a workatound?
Sent from my NookColor using Tapatalk
Netflix apparently removed the app because of the issues some people are having with it. Since its a free app, you can probably easily find the older .apk file by googling.
I just found it using the Galaxy tab and the htc buildprops.
The galaxy had video but chipmunks.
The htc worked, but I had no video until moving the app toSD.
I am running MN.
Good luck.

Here's the thread with the latest updated Netflix apk.

Just installed, chipmunk because of the accelerated video. So I'd suggest try editing your build.prop as suggested above to see if it helps.

Saw this thread and it work great on my nook with Phiremod 6.3. No woraround necessary no chipmunks either.

I keep getting the following message:
"It looks like Netflix has been deactivated on this device. It could be an issue with your account or perhaps your device was deactivated on nexflix.com (2004)"
Is this a new issue? (or did my spouse forget to pay the bill? )

I had netflix working on Phiremod 6.2 with the "hack".
I got the same message that you're reporting when I tried to upgrade to Phiremod 6.3, but I didn't do a clean install.
I did a complete wipe of the nook and started a fresh install of Phiremod 6.3. I then downloaded Netflix from the market and it worked again.
Idiot me. Once you mentioned datawipe it hit me and I went to manage applications, wiped data and voila, netflix works
Thank you for the nudge in the right direction.
I did have to do the build edit to rid myself of the chipmunks, but I just finished watching a movie before bed

I live in Canada and the latest NOOK for Android apk is not available for us for download.
It would be greatly appreciated if someone could back up their version and post a copy here.
Thanks.

Does it even work outside the states? I would figure if you can't get it in market then you might have some login problems. I might be wrong though

It works once you've set up a B&N account.
Not sure but some books may not be available to people outside the US. So far I haven't had a problem.
I have relatives in the US who have Nook Color's and Touch's so I can share books from their libraries.
thanks for uploading this. Yes, it works outside US.
Even though the app is horrible, slow and featureless , it uses the same page number as my nook so its my only option to avoid the pain of figure out page numbers between devices.
Can anyone search in the store I can when I click the serch button nothing happens

Market Enabler?
Can't you just fake your provider to Verizon or something using Market Enabler and then find it in the Market? That's what I do.
giant_rider,
How did you manage to install the apk?
I copied it to an SD card and also copied it to an internal folder.
Both times when I tried to run it, I got a parse error.
Same thing happened with another ereader I attempted to run.
MickeyBear, I downloaded the file using Opera Mini and has the same file corruption problem. It works when I re-download on the desktop and uploaded to my Dropbox.
Does anyone have this issue with the newest version (3.0.1) of the Nook app crashing when you try to open a magazine or a book?
I'm running CM 7.1 Final.

Thanks! It downloaded and installed fine, but when I launch it, it just goes back to my home screen. Maybe it isn't intended to work on a stock rooted NOOK... Bummer! Thought it might be a way to get access to my BN subscriptions until the issues with downloads from BN Shop and Market are resolved. Oh, well! Thanks for the quick response!
Switching to Kindle for Android is perhaps the best solution if you want to buy e-books, but magazines like The New Yorker display great on the plain Nook with 1.4.1. I would buy some stuff from B&N, but if I can't install third party apps I prefer to go with another rom from SD and without the B&N reader for Android. Bye bye NOOK-Book-eBook-store...
If you haven't check the Nook Dev. section of this forum since last night, Indirect and anlog have figured a way to root the NT. please check over there...
List
Root: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1354487

Getting mine on Friday, can't wait to put all these (and maybe more) to good use.
Nothing really worth rooting it for yet - at least for me. When they unlock the boot loader then I'll consider it.

Yeah, I rooted and got market working! I was about to return this, but now I have hope for the future capability of this device. The only huge issues I have now are just being able to install swiftkey, remap the nook button, copy/paste in all fields, and for autocomplete to work with gapps. Otherwise this thing kicks ass! Thank you developers for all the hard work, I will be sure to donate $20 to whoever figures out how to get roms on this. If ICS can run on this, I will be one happy camper.
I rooted mine and almost immeditly after the mobo in my big computer **** the bed. There is lots of really good stuff you can do with root access. You'll be able to put a real keyboard on there the google market, and soooooooo much more.
No need for root for me...I got all the apps I needed from the amazon app store and by downloading APKs off the web. Using Go Launcher, swiftkey and Dolphin web browser...

I'm kind of feeling the same way. With sideloading as an option, I'm getting pretty much everything I need from various non-Market sites. That's not to say rooting isn't worth it - just not a high need right now, except for the possibility of expanding the 1GB limitation.

How did you get swiftkey to work? I can't seem to enable it once it is installed. I saw that someone posted a possibly functional workaround similar to kf, but it was really laborous and I have two huge exams in 40 hours
I expanded the 1 GB limitation by using a 8 GB Micro SD card I had sitting around the house.

I dearly want to root the NT. I have access to an iMac and a Windows XP machine, but I'm not at all familiar with scripts and adb and stuff. I rooted and rom'd my Htc Incredible, but that was easy lol. A video walkthrough would be awesome, or a one click solution like Unrevoked. I do appreciate everything that the devs have done though, thanks guys. If anyone would like to hold my hand through this process I, and I'm sure others, would greatly appreciate it!

i rooted mine today. mostly because the script included the gapps. i wanted market for easier management of my apps.
Is there anyway to Copy and Paste without root? I assumed the NT would automatically be able to do it unless I am missing something?

I am not sure I am going to root this device. If I can get what I needed via sideloading I may just pass. I hate having to redo everything each time an update get's pushed down, and was not happy with CM7.1 (Wifi, SOD, and other issues) on my NC.
I have almost everything working now on my rooted tablet with the GoLauncher.
After a lot of effort, I got the SlideIT keyboard installed and working.
But, The Nook Reader (from the Market) does not work. I can access a reader that works on my B&N books by going through Library, opening the book, and then using "Reader" to read it. But I can't find "Reader" in the app list to make a direct access to it on my GoLauncher desktop. Reader.apk is also in /system/app. Is it the Nook viewer? When I start that, it does nothing.
Similarly, QuickOffice_Viewer.apk is installed in /system/app, but I don't see it in my app list.
Is there a way to turn on wifi location services?
Also, in the Android Market, many many apps are listed as being incompatible with the Nook Tablet, even though they work on my Color Nook (albeit with CyanogenMod). For example, the free angry birds, which works perfectly on the NT when I moved it from my NC. And I had to get Evernote and LastPass from the B&N market.
Finally, the Nook Tablet suffers from the same anaemic maximum volume as the NC did. Nook Color Tweaks fixes the problem on my NC, but does not work on the NT. Does anyone know some other way to goose up the volume settings? The inbuilt controls are maximized.
Personally I havent found a way to get reader to work other than the way described by yourself.
As far as I know the "incompatible" apps thing is due to the ppi being 169 rather than a more common 160. Rather than changing it, I have just found it easier to copy things from one of my other android devices. Or you can see if the items in question are in the Amazon Appstore.
Currently the only way I know of to get the volume up is with a paid app...that I cant seem to recall the name of. If you search the forums for it I'm sure you'll find it.

Thats the app i was talking about, thought it was paid only. Guess I've been proven wrong on that front, which is a good thing .
The Android Market says Volume+ is not compatible with The NT. I installed it my NC, but I can't find where the apk is installed, to grab it.
What is it called, and where is it installed to?

Yeah the browser is working here for me too. Can't say I like it though, but it works.
Any reasons as to why it wouldn't install on my Touchpad? It says application not installed. But it was fine with the first version. However it was giving FC as to eveyone else. Maybe it's signed incorrectly?
One of two reasons : Either its signed incorrectly or not signed at all or there is a previous version existing.
Worked here also after following the steps in the first post of that topic.
TBH though, I'm not impressed at all. Boat Browser still beats it for me on the TouchPad.
@ puneet_champ
But I don't get what can be wrong as others managed to install it on their Touchpads. As you found the solution for the FC maybe you can have a look as to why the application refuses to install? thanx!
Edit: Nevermind. Managed to install it. Cleared everything and did all over again but this time didn't change the permissions and it worked. Thanx for nice work just one thing that I noticed. Even if you choose to use desktop mode in the settings it still gives mobile websites e.g. there's no way to have Vimeo in Desktop mode
Make sure to follow the directions fully. Set permissions correctly and REBOOT
