I usually dont do posts like this but I just had to say I cant wait for my GS2 to get here and finally be rid of sprint! Their speeds here in NYC were great(wimax) but 3g sucked and data was not always consistent. streaming you tube or google music was just painful sometimes. I'm also looking forward to getting back to a GSM device where development is more plentiful. I currently have the Epic 4g touch and am also looking forward to the 4.3 form factor(I prefer it over the 4.52)
It's also nice to have CM available for the device. I've been CM deprived since joining sprint. (had the evo3d first then the GS2/E4gT. I'm looking forward to being apart of the ATT community here on xda.
Is there an irc channel for the ATT GS2?
Welcome! I think we are all glad you're here with us for this great phone
As for the irc channel, I am not sure. I don't think there is one, but I never use orchestra so maybe I've just crossed over it without thinking.
Im not sure about an irc channel for att gs2 as a whole but several of the devs and cm7 have their own irc channels.

Welcome aboard! Always great to have another dev come around. Great phone with a solid community and looks like we just increased by +1. As to an IRC channel, irc.freenode.net #sgs2-att.

Welcome to the Darkside AGS2 forums, always glad to have another Dev here. We have some great options for our phone already, or if you're planning on throwing your hat in the ring Id love to see what you can cook up (see what I did there?)! Anyways, make yourself at home and enjoy the view.
Welcome! I got my phone abt a week ago and I can understand how it feels. You won't regret with this phone.

Thanks guy! Wow you guys are so much more friendly then the folks in the Sprint GS2 forums My phone should be here monday and I cant wait! My sister has the AT&T GS2 and I def like the form factor much better than the Sprint GS2. I know most prefer the 4.52 inch screen but it's just too big for my tastes. The 4.3 is perfect in my opinion. If I need anything bigger, I have my tablets for that
Thanks for the welcome and I'm looking forward to the switch!

The developers ?? This makes all the difference on a device, the skyrocket has finally taken off. How long do you guys think it will take for the note ? Or will it not be embraced by the developers ?? I can't wait to get this monster again only been a week since i sold my n7000 and it feels like its been months

The great thing about XDA is the fact that there are varying degrees of talent here. From those with their first android device, to others who build custom roms. There is even support here for beginners to learn from those more experienced. The responsibility of creating development falls on the community, not just specific individuals in my opinion. As soon as the full rom dump is posted somewhere I would love to try rooting it. Then creating a mod to make it easier for others.
In short, give it time. People willing to work on it will come.
Keep in mind the people that will be moving to the Note.
Biggest groups:
-Dell Streak owners
-HTC Aria owners
-Samsung Captivate owners (just take a look at their dev community)
-a lot of Atrix owners seem to be moving over
I have faith that we'll have a robust dev community very soon. I'm trying to get into developing myself but it's a bit of a learning curve and I have a pretty busy personal life

I agree, many waited on the nest "big" thing
can't wait to see what the devs do with this phone
Dman one of the best Infuse developers is picking up a note.
I think we will be in good shape on the development of great roms.

I don't know about the dell streak devs. Most of the good ones are from the UK or Ukraine . So I don't see many coming from dell streak. Fards has the note but UK version. DJ Steve said he will never buy a Samsung and nop is part of the DSC club.

The device itself is still new. The only real devices that have amazing devs right off the bat are the Galaxy S phones and the Nexus line.
And who is the Infuse dev coming over to the Note?
I would help donate money to help pay for a Note for a dev if needed. Did that for the Atrix and Transformer

+1 ...we should find a capable dev, start a thread to collect donations and buy him AT&T Note. The only difficulty I see with that plan is that AT&T Note is not available off contract and one would have to marry AT&T for 2 years.
I would *love* to get this guy to develop for Note community, and would have no problem donating something like $50 to get the ball rolling.
I vote for DesignGears
It's available off contract on premiers website

Not that I've heard.
Was with AT&T and did great things for the Captivate. Talked about switching to Verizon. But I think he's still developing for the S2 on AT&T.
Most recently made an ICS kernel for the Captivate.
Hangs out on RootzWiki.

Well your work looks awesome. We'd love to have you here.
When there's a market for second hand Notes or something, we might be able to help you out.
well since i currently am rocking a superbricked n7000 *being sent to india for repairs* i was lucky enough to pick up a used i717m for 200$!
so i will be hopefully bringing with me Codename Android to the i717 since im the device maintainer for the n7000 makes sense for me to do the same for you guys
now this wont come out right away it will come in time, but i thought id introduce myself to this section and tease whats to come
hopefully this section is as great to people as the n7000 section was to me!

But i'm worried there won't be many roms for it which is why i was thinking about getting the S3 instead.

I would find it extremely surprising if this phone didn't have a decent dev community. People may not want to admit it, but this IS the phone to beat in Verizon's line up right now. Once S-Off is accomplished, things will pick up...IMO

Just want to give a BIG shout out to EVERYONE in here, especially the DEVS and Modders of course individually Adam Outler and his team of genius android minions who got our phones back from the dictatorship that is verizon.
Also a huge thanks to EVERYONE who contributes here. For a bunch of people to band together and help a bunch of other people that you dont even know is pretty amazing. when you could just as easily say "sorry about your luck" ...especially when there is really no reward other than a thanks button. much love to all of you.

Nope. Glad to be here.
Yep, I'm really impressed at how much the developers have accomplished in such a short amount of time since this device released! It's been like, what, a little over 2 weeks? Yet we already have root, an unlocked bootloader, a way to get back to factory stock, and a bunch of custom roms! This dev community has helped to create a bright future for Verizon's Note II and I can't wait to see what else they have in store!
For me this site the awesome work done by so many devs here is why I run an Android device, who wants a walled garden or a phone everyone else has when you can be as custom and crazy as you want to be. Thanks to all who make this a great community to be a part of.

This is the best thing I have seen on xda in a while I just got my note 2 today and seeing a thread like this is awesome. I definitely don't complain about things I can't do myself. My thought to the ETA guys is "if you want it done so fast then do it yourself" I think the team working on the note are some of the best out there...I mean this thing has been out 3 weeks and beanstown106 has already kicked out like 3 ROMs. I mean these guys could punch out roms faster but theyd be buggy as crap. Personally if im putting my name on something its gonna be right. Its crazy. We are just scratching the surface of the dev/mod potential of this phone I think. This is my first Sammy and I'm so glad I made the jump.
I've been following this community since the day it was posted on xda. I've been following everything going on and even donated here and there. I've read and studied every single page lol. I won't be getting my note till after Christmas, but it's okay I feel like a Odin pro by now. Lol. I too wan to shout out a HUGE Thanks. These devs deserve every bit of it.

Forgive my unfamiliarity here, but the two ROMs being discussed, are these stock based or AOSP? Just curious. Either way, it's great to see some developer interest so soon. Give me a little time (just returned to work after 13 weeks because of a broken leg) and I'll gladly throw in some money to help the cause.

if i remember right, both are stock; Beans is optimized with features while Clean is lightweight smooth as butter (i don't speak for the devs and its been a while for me so..ask them?)
Be careful what you wish for with Cleanrom. On the HTC One Max, Note 10.1 2014 Edition and Tab Pro 8.4, he got the device with donations. He put out one Rom and maybe one update and sold the devices very quickly. I had all of those devices but did not donate thankfully. The forums for the devices had some very upset people.
