Super Talent Micro SD Cards? - HTC EVO 3D

Anyone ever heard of these? Meritline has a 32 GB Class 4 for only $30 with free shipping. I don't really need one right now, but the price is almost too cheap to ignore.

I have a super talent usb 3 16gb flash drive and have had zero problems with it.
I think the price is decent. You can get a sandisk 32gb for just a little more. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&sku=752149&is=REG&A=details&Q=
Im not saying Sandisk is better but just that the $30 price shouldnt be the reason you jump on this. Now if it was a class 10 card for $30 then I would be all over it.
If it was me and I didnt quite need 32gb card yet, i would wait for prices to drop even further then grab a higher class microsd card. (class 6 or class 10). Hope this helps

Thats Where im at. I have a 8gb class 10 card. and while extra storage would definetly be great i am realistically only filling 5gb if i take all my nandroid backups off my sd card.
So all wait till at least boxing day and see what kind of deals i can find. I would love to be able to put my entire 10gb music library on my phone. so ill be looking for a 16gb or 32gb class 10 card.
Anybody thats looking for a new sd card. I really encourage getting a higher class card. it makes all the difference in the world to how your device runs.

WinTek cards from Frys are cheap & work very well. Sometimes you can find Patriot 32GB Class 10 for 80ish if you're willing to spend a little more at Frys also.
I'm currently using the Transcend 8GB class 6 in all of my devices, speeds are pretty good so far - they are around $15-20 including a SD adapter.

Wow! You are correct, sir. Major brain fart on my part. Hadn't hit the confirm order button so was able to save myself the headache.
I am currently using the Wintec 16gb class 10 and they are fine. Speeds are way above 10mb per second write. I get up to 12 mb per sec write and 17mb per sec read.
Polaroid 16GB from Fry's is $17.99 this week after rebate. Bad news is mine just died today in my N1 (error check fails / can't format). Good news is that it's lasted in my daily driver phones for the last two years. Considering I used it for swap while I had a G1 I'm surprised it didn't die sooner. Not a bad deal if you regularly backup your SD.

Its definitely a class-10, the videos and pictures play and save pretty quickly compared to the stock card that came with the htc evo.
Can someone recommend a good (aka fast) 32GB micro sd card? I'm not concerned with cost. I'd rather just spend the money up front than worry about whether or not the card is too slow. Also, is there a nice comparison chart of 32GB cards with read/write speeds of various class cards?
Thx
EDIT: Well, I'm a bit confused. Which SD format does the tablet actually support? SD or SDHC? I would like to get the largest, fastest card.

[Q] Question about Wintec Class 10 MicroSD card

Hi. I read that a few of you have bought wintec micro sd cards from newegg.com. I was wondering if you had any problems with this card. The reviews on newegg seem mixed. I particularly want to buy the 16 gb class 10 microsdhc. Does this card work in the transformer? Any help would be great. I want to spend my money right the first time and not waste any on unreliable cards. Thanks

Not sure about the Transformer (yet... still waiting for mine. Hopefully tomorrow), but I bought one for my Motorola Atrix. After formatting it in the Atrix, it worked for a little while, then my Atrix said the card was unrecognizable. I had similar issues when I put it in my Nexus One as well. Using it in the SD adapter with my PC or camera doesn't seem to have the same problems.
I find that a class 4 card is good enough for most things. Heck, I use a class 2 card on my Archos 5 Internet Tablet to hold movies, and I have never seen it stutter. I just bought a class 4 card in anticipation of my Transformer.
If you want a faster card, get one from a reliable manufacturer. But I really don't think you'll need it.
I've been using the 32GB Wintec class 10 in my EVO for months with zero issues. It's fast too...makes a very noticeable difference when viewing pictures in the gallery. I was a little nervous after hearing other people's reviews, but it's been great for me. I make sure to backup fairly regularly though, just in case.
My 1st wintec 16gb class 10 would constantly get corupted in my epic and wouldn't be recognized in my laptop at that point. I formatted it numerous asy and the results were always the same. Rma'd it and just got the replacement today. Will load some things on and give it a shot with files I won't care about losing if it goes down.

I couldn't wait for a decent 16GB Class 10 microSDHC card to get back in stock, so I ordered two of these Wintec cards from Newegg yesterday. I know there's a chance they will crap out soon, but I thought I'd take the chance since I'm impatient. I wish the A-Data ones would come in stock sooner.
Sad part about the Adata ones is they're usually a class or two slower than their rating. So their class 10 is probably about a class 6 where Sandisk ones usually outperform their class. I have a class 2 32gb Sandisk in my Samsung Epic and have had no complaints about speed or reliability.
Im using one right now in a stock unrooted TF. But when I tried to root it , it always corrupts that card!
I bought two Wintec 16GB Class 10 MicroSDHC cards and they BOTH didn't work. I couldn't format them and I had problems recognizing them on the TF and computer. I'd stay away from them.
Wintec class 10 16gb microsd works fine with my TF.
Faster than my other class 4.

Buying a MicroSDHC card
Class has to do with the speed of data transfer to your “microsdhc card”.
You may want to be careful of that particular memory card (Wintec Class 10 MicroSDHC) on Newegg, Located at ...... Alot of very bad reviews for this item. It has a very high failure rate. 1/3 of the cards fail, become nonfunctional after a very short time, loose data, lock up, etc.
For a couple dollars more you may want to get SanDisk or Kingston memory. I have been using their memory products for many years. Both have an excellent rating and warranty. I also find it hard to believe that you can get a real, reliable and functional Class 10 memory at that price. Usually a Class 10 memory retail about $175.00 $190.00 but can be bought for $ 75.00 to $90.00 dollars.
People who usually use Class 10 are photographers, for speed of image transfer to memory and less time waiting between shots, and heavy duty graphic users that have a lot of transfers to do with large files.
For example for a real Class 10 memory:
NewEgg:..... $89.00
Amazon:..... Kingston-MicroSD-Adapter-SDC10-16GB $82.00
Example for Class 2 memory:
SanDisk 16 GB microSDHC Flash Memory Card $23.85
Example for Class 4 memory:
Kingston 16 GB Class 4 MicroSD Flash Card with SD Adapter $32.84
Class 2 or 4 will do just fine for your Asus Transformer.
Just go with Sandisk. Even Class 2/4 Sandisk cards will be fast enough. Cheaper brands just stick a class 6/10 on their cards and buyers will eat them up. But real-world performances will show you that they're definitely not in the same class as Sandisk cards.

[Q] Micro SD Card Size or Speed?

Hey what do you guys think? I can get a either a 16GB Class 10, or a 32GB class 4 for the same price. Does a class 10 really make much difference on a phone? If this was for my DSLR Camera it'd be different. So just curious what everyone's thoughts are. Thanks In Advance!
P.S. The Price is $60. However I work at Best Buy and know i get a discount im just not sure what it is yet...
I was wondering the same thing?
I would think the class 4 32gb would be fine with the Evo 3D, but i could be wrong
What brands? Not all brands are the same.
I just purchased a Sandisk 32GB class 4. I mainly use my storage for music/pics.
I use a Sandisk 32gb class 2 I believe, it may be a class 4. Used it in my Evo4G and now my 3D. I run most of my apps and games off of it, never had an issue. Never any lag, just as fast as a class 6 I used by some off brand. Sandisk is known for having speeds faster then what they are rated, alot of no-name brands are just the opposite though.

16GB Class 4
I just went through this same thing.... The card that came with the phone was class 4. I downloaded SD Tools from the market and did a speed test. My goal was to ensure that whatever card I got had at least the same read/write speeds as the stock card.
Out of 3 tests on the stock class 4 card the highest results were 7.0MB/s write and 16.9MB/s read.
I went to Frys and bought a 16GB class 4 card (I think it is WINTEC, but will double check) for $19.99. Figured I could return it if the speeds weren't up to par.
Out of 3 tests with this class 4 card, all came back with 11.0MB/s write and 19.2MB/s read.
I decided to go with 16GB first to see if I would really fill it up. Sure, I would love 32GB of storage but when do I really need ALL my music on my phone at one time and how many movies do I really need on hand? I figure I will still use my PC as the ultimate storage device and then sync down about 4GB of music and maybe 3-4 movies at a time... still leaving room for some camera pics. If I find I am running out of space I will then upgrade to a 32GB card.
Hope this helps!
I ordered the Lexar 32GB class 10 microSDHC from tigerdirect today - $55 (approx $6 for shipping *and* tax) today. It retails around $90 at amazon
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=186367&CatId=7071
Only problem is that it is expected to ship in late August... hope they don't cancel it by then
I'm using sandisk 16g class 2 card that come with my Droid X. I do get lag sometimes playing 1080p vids, although rare.. If I don't skip around a lot then no problems at all. I don't consider it a nuisance enough to throw away any class 2 cards but enough to make class 4 my new min requirement.

I have the Adata 16GB Class 10 from newegg. Works really well.
i got a 16gb sandisk from amazon...pretty cheap.... im sure its a generic one but never had a problem with generics
I've used the 16gb class 10 Wintec Filemate. I tested it with hw2test (forgot the exact name), and it turned up 12 mb/s writing and nearly 20 mb/s reading. So it's definitely a class 10 and performs higher than its class actually. It's worked well for the past year, and is generally around 25-30 bucks on Amazon.
Try checking out Amazon's prices, they're usually pretty good. You can get a 16GB card for as low as $16 and a 32gb starting around $40. I usually stick with Sandisk; haven't had a problem yet. They're usually a bit more, but the reviews tend to be high. I went with a 32gb-- class 4 to keep the price down-- but I think I'm gonna go with an Ultra model (15 mb/s) when I get a 32GB SD card for the dock. I have one in 2GB and side by side, it's like tortoises (not the fast ones on youtube) and hares. And with recent price drops, it'll be cheaper!
I appreciate the replies. Is there a major difference between a class 10 and a class 4?

You might want to check you are actually getting the full 32gb capacity on that card. There are a lot of fakes on Ebay that show up in Windows etc as the size stated but if you actually try to copy that amount to the card it fails.
Ive had great luck with both my aData and Sandisk 32gig cards. One is a class 2 and one is a class 4.
One thing to note with classing of cards is pretty much any card will be fast enough to operate with the TF. Playing videos and holding data for programs. The Class only refers to write speed, so its how fast you can put data on the card. This will primarily come into play when copying large files to the card. If you arent worried about that as much then you could save some money passing on higher classed cards.

Using TeraCopy to copy a big movie file to the Adata class 10, I got a constant speed of 16MB/s. Reading is a little bit slower, around 14-15MB/s.

All SD cards above 4 GB are SDHC. SDHC reader is backward compatible with the standard SD card. (without HC).
ebay are full of fake memory card. Stay away.

a 4GB card isn't bad in my opinion... i currently have 1 gb card that still hasn't filled up, but I plan on maxing mine out at 32gb once I have the money too.
as far as installations go, it just depends on the app. some apps go for the memory card without you realizing it, you can usually view them under manage applications to get an idea of what apps are being installed where.
hopefully that answers some of your questions!

Amazon had some good sales on 16GB for $15 and 32GB for $32 the other day.
I don't think you will fill up a 32GB with Apps, but if you have a lot of music and videos, it comes in really handy...
its hard not to just get the 32 gig one cuz prices are super nice right now..i got my 32 gig class 4 sandisk on amazon for 27.99
Since I have many Gameloft games installed, having the SD card is nice, because now like 10GB is taken up by the data from their games.
Is there a certain class I should get?
@fr3dw0rth,, class 4 should do.. currently my sdcard is only class 4.
I got a 16 GB class 4 Sandisk card at Staples for $25. (Normal price was $30, but they matched Microcenter's price of $25; I simply showed them a web page printout from Microcenter.)
Card is a pain to install. Whoever designed that on the Nook must have had incredibly tiny fingers.
screw that noise (no offense), you can get a 32 gig class 4 sandisk for like 30 bucks on amazon. Just get it over with and get the biggest one.
