[Q] a small question to the experts - Galaxy Ace S5830 General

is switching from a rom to an other many times harmful to the Ace 5830?

no i don't think so, just do a Full wipe before and don't forget it to calibrate your battery
Press the thanks button if I helped

Yeah, I don't think so either. But I still wouldn't do it all those times. Don't want my Ace feeling like a rom whore.

theoretically - no
practically - yes
just like any other type of memory
too much write can damage it.....

Ok I had flashed 6 rom's until now
I think there is nothing dangerous.

plzzzz hit thanks if I helped you in any means .......

ODIN will warn you after flashing 5 times in a day but with CWM it is safe only if you take all precautions such as wiping /system for cm7

It should't be for normal users but don't go maniac over the thing.

Ive flashed now already in total 126 roms with cwm 118 times and odin 8 times and till no damage (=

[Q] Is there any limitation flashing using ODIN?

Is there any limitation flashing using ODIN?
i mean, is that safe using ODIN several time to flash the S5830?
or any limitation for doing this? to avoid the bricked situation
thanks
Using this ace since March, I've flashed through ODIN at least 20 times and the most problematic hurdle was a bootloop. Once. Nothing I can't fix.
But there is going to be a degree of potential bricking when flashing (either through ODIN or flashing zips).

flash memories have certain amount of read/write cycles so don't try to flash it that much with odin as at end of life it will refuse to do anything..
no one can provide you specific number as it depends on flash chips on device

where is this lg customer care? here: http://www.lg.com/us/support-mobile/lg-P504 ?
is there other method, like using kdz?
thanks!
Just flash your p500 with kdz firmware updater. You´ĺl need ḱdz update program and the Gingerbread rom for p500 in kdz format. Don worry by name, it can flash roms too.
Refer here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1060121
OR
flashing stock rom via LGDMP is best option, refer this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1330684
I prefer LGDMP
(Don´t hesitate to use those programs because i have tried them once)

I have the P-504 in emergency mode and KDZ updater is the only software that will recognise it. I tried to flash the p500 firmware but that didn't work. Anyone have the 504 firmware in .kdz format? Or can you convert the .dz format to .kdz?

And Please, ive read posts on this forums about people who brick their phone by flashing zip roms, just because a few knuckle heads who cant read instructions brick their phone, no need to dismiss and scare away people.
If we dismiss every action that could brick your phone, dont bother having XDA forums =)
look up for a flashable zip with stock rom. You will lose root access.
I have tried with the P-500 firmware but it gives me an error code.18:27:37 : Smart : wParam = 100, lParam = 4008

Hi . First, you must have clockworkmod(cwm5) .. Reboot the recovery . Now wipe cache, data and dalvik. Go to install from SD card . Search your ROM file. Select it example: (IcSrom.zip) Flash it n wait. After that just reboot n wait.. Congrats u have a custom rom on ur phone now.IF u don't like the rom. Flash a stock gingerbread with Odin or use other custom rom. For me All the rom best!!!

This is exactly why ALL Android phones should come with Bootloaders unlocked. It's such a fail safe for end users to fix their phones.
YEAH I know companies don't like users flashing ROMS, but this is Android. If companies have an issue with it, then don't make Android phones. Samsung obviously doesn't have an issue with that.
Don't get me wrong I LOVE MY ATRIX!, but it still blows that we needed to do all the end user work on our time to make this phone great...

His original problem was simple to solve. Gingerblur used a bootstrap apk to boot into cwm (this is talking before we even had official gingerbread like a year ago). That bootstrapped version of cwm wouldnt allow him to flash anything new. All he would've had to do was flash a version of cwm with rom manager and boot into recovery. (Probably should wipe as well). U guys mucked him up good.
Pretty sure his phone was mucked up from the get go. He had err 2 since I replied...
Once you have errors like this you must sbf flash the latest 2.3.4?? Pudding firmware

Rookie mistake

I was flashing back to stock via oxen, when I pulled a rookie mistake. This is a used 777 and charge port is a little sloppy.During flash USB cable came out.
I have been flashing cappys for a couple of years and never let that happen.Have soft bricked a time or 2,but always fixed.I believe I have hard bricked this 777.No response what so ever.Wont go into down load or recovery.Isn't recognized by Odin.It was running supernexus, rooted and cwm recovery.
Is there a fix besides jtag?I've tried what I know.Been reading but haven't come across fix yet.Any suggestions would be appreciated.thnx,rbb1robert

Have tried going into download mode while phone is off holding the volume down button while plugging into computer or try a different usb port on computer and proper drivers for your model phone are installed . Make sure Odin is running under administratior rights. I know you are experienced at flashing roms, just making sure all the bases are covered. Jtag is not too cheap but would save you from a hard brick. Mobiletechvideos.com are the best..
