Just outta curiosity, does anyone use the at&t media net with there i9100? Is it similar to the regular data packages? I searched but really didn't find any answers, plus im using Tapatalk which the search option isn't the greatest.
No one??????
Yes, I'm on MediaNet on my i9100, and it works just fine. I usually get around 3-4 mbps down on H+.

Ok, thanks. Also, is the Internet the same or is it slow and not load everything?

I'm using it, although it's no longer called MediaNet. It's now their unlimited data for non-smartphones. Data and tethering/hotspot works fine. In terms of speed tests, 9.6mbps was the best that I ever got. Supposedly, 10mbps is the actual cap you can get under this plan, and a real world max of 10-12mbps can be achieved using their higher priced plans. Not worth it, IMO. I'd rather pay $10.

Yea, my $5 dumbphone loads pages slow. A $5 phone will do that as the phone itself only has a GPRS (1G) radio, and the processor couldn't power a toaster. Today's smartphones are pocket computers.
Don't expect near 10mbps contantly though. HSPA+ is overrated. It's not true 4G. Latency seems to be twice as high as LTE on average, and a constant connection speed is around 3mbps. The faster plan likely won't change this.

Its not worth it right now chances of u even getting 4g in your area r slim. Besides the vibrabt isnt even set up for it. The tethering plan will boost your signal and think its only 15 a month

How is the tethering plan will boost your signal?
To the OP, did you go over 5GB of data in your billing cycle? Did you use your phone as a tether?

Huh?
Anyways, the so-called 4g does make a dramatic difference even with the Vibrant. Where I live, I went from around 1mbps down to 3-5mbps down (speed based on speedtest.net app). My ripoff p.o.s. ISP limits my speed to only 3mbps because I don't pay an extra 15-30 dollars a month. Recently I was downloading a large file, and out of curiosity I switched in the middle of downloading from my local ISP to tethering my phone via wifi. The download speed was around 1.66 times faster, peaking at speeds almost twice as fast. In other words, the speedtest.net results, which suggest hspa+ on my Vibrant is significantly faster than my 3mbps ISP, were validated.
Secondly, data plans cost the same regardless if you have access to hspa+ or not.

Well the 4G plan and the older one is currently the same price. I got unlimited because I will tether. i dont think i need the tethering plan because i have the wifi tethering thing on my vibrant.

I think the $10 text plan is only applicable for those who also have the unlimited android plan. I asked my t-mobile dealer about my text plan (after my added an unlimited android plan) and he reduced my monthly text rate (unlimited at $15 to $10).
I'm not 100% sure though

Dude seriously? Did you try rebooting your phone? You don't need to upgrade to any plan to continue using 3g. There's no such thing as a "4g plan" that makes your vibrants data speeds any faster. The dude's posting here are blowing smoke up your ass. My vibrant is using the $24 grandfathered plan (4G didnt exist then) and I've been hitting 5Mb's down and 1.5 up. You will see increased data speeds if your local network has been upgraded but that's it. If you lost 3G signal is could be because of weather or service issues in your area or your phone just needs to be restarted. Call t-mo back and switch back to your previous plan if it worked better for you financially. Once again, you will not see a speed boost from any plans that t-mo offers.

Ever since lauch date, I have seem to be racking up data very quickly..
Already 5.4GB and counting..
At this rate, Im very worried about future capping or throttling..
How much have yall used?
I have used 500 Megs in three days but I have been playing around a lot and have good 4g coverage. On the down side, you can almost see the battery meter drop while downloading.
It's currently Unlimited for now right? asenduk, how long have you had it. That's quite a bit of data man!
Over 10GB so far. I use it as my home ISP and will continue to until they take away free tether. Then I will debate about root/tether.
Thanks to you folks, I will never be in the top 5% that get throttled.
since Thursday last week lol

I am at around 2.5gb. Had the phone since late friday afternoon (5pm).
After using the iphone since te 3g.. this is a nice change. I am liking it alot. Just need more battery life and i am set.
I'm at just over 3GB.
300MB Most according to TrafficStats is from the HTC IME and Touch Input.... like wut?
4G speeds are addicting!
The LTE speeds in NYC are AMAZING!! Even downtown manhattan. I realize the airwaves are pretty clear rigt now... but i hope verizons network dont take such a big hit once it get saturated. ive gone as high as near 18mbps down
lets just hope that iPhone 5 is not LTE
we dont need them clogging up bandwidth lol
Something seems to be way off with the way the data is calculated on LTE.
If you look in the details of your usage on the Verizon website you will see that many of the entries have no actual usage details - only some do and if you sum up all the entries that do show the number of KB used - you will see that it is actually LESS than the number of KB showing on the main my account page.
My data usage patterns have not changed since i switch to VZW last week and yet it seems that i am using 5x more than what i used to use on at&t....it does not make sense at all. i don't tether and don't download anything.
2.4 GB for me
.07 GB for wifes iphone 4. she got hers before me lol.
I use the hotspot for my ipod pandora and usually use phone more than comp or laptop for playing on internet.
1.3 gigs since launch. I haven't really been able to use it much though. And lte here is iffy.
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk
Little over 4 gigs. When you tether and use LTE data goes pretty quick. If they ever do implent 2 gig caps like AT&T this phone will be damn near useless for me.

Here in Cincinnati, I've hit 30mbps a few times. I was getting those speeds at work, so wednesday I was going to take a picture of speedtest if it comes back that high again.
But usually I see speeds of 20mbps down.
I have had the phone since Saturday night, and I am like 2.8GB of data. Helps that I downloaded all the files to root my phone, on my phone, since its like 6X faster than my home internet.
Anyone else try gaming while tethered yet on like an xbox 360 or ps3? My ping is usually low 50s at my house. Might try that out tomorrow, just because I can
Hows the tethering for you guys on sprint since I hear that the sprint service is subpar, I'm currently on tmo an have a nexus s an just got a text saying I had reached my data cap so they slow down my data, an I use my tether a lot on my laptop, so I come her to ask how the tethering is for you guys an if I do come to sprint I will be picking up a evo 3d most likely...
My tethering is just fine If I recall correctly I get 150-350kbs on 3g.
Just tried 4g and pulled 3.5Mb. I have seen up to 6Mb.

That's all you are getting on 3g? How bad is your signal? I consistently pull around 1 to 1.1Mb on 3g.. There are some tweaks that you can apply to boost your speed.. Check the developer section.

Depends where you are. At work I get about 1000 down, at home around 500-700. I get a about 5000 down on 4G but only outside with a weak signal.
I can drive from metro west MA to Central NH and be connected 3G the whole way with varying data rates !! Pretty impressive.

It just slowed down and it doesn't get back up!, What would it be?.My phone is brand new and has been working like a champ for weeks. when I use wifi is really fast but with the cellular data I have this issue.
Thanks

Try the samsung galaxy 4g forum
Maybe they throttled you because you went over your limit like the person above said.
You could always call your carrier and ask them.

I called and I am not throttled, actually it has to do with the phone or the towers. I need to fix the radio on the phone maybe.
maybe internet have problem!
modem driver?
i decided i may activate my view but sprint doesn't get coverage in this are. i was wondering if there is anyway to unlock it to work on a different carrier.
i tried searching on here and google but all it showed me was results for rooting and unlocking the bootloader both of which i have done, but i could have missed something it is almost 5am.
any help is appreciated thanks.
I would consider a tethering plan or rooting your phone to tether that way.
CDMA phones are simply a no go for that. The View is just too good not to keep though. Beautiful device and it works very well.

I've heard you can make it work on Clear, but if you don't have Sprint service, it's pretty unlikely you'll have Clear service.
I'm pretty sure you can get it working on Boost Mobile.
With a CDMA device, your options for moving to a device to a different carrier are basically non-existent. You're essentially limited to the carrier that sells the device and any pre-pay carriers (and sometimes small, regional carriers) that use the network of the original carrier.
Unfortunately, Boost is going to have the same issue, since they are just a prepaid brand of Sprint. You can try PagePlus, though their data rates aren't exactly the cheapest.

Touché. Not sure what I was thinking there.
the only ones who get service in my area are us cell and Verizon, so it looks like im s**t out of luck
Yeah, if you don't get good Sprint service you count Boost Mobile out. I'm on Boost and love it. I'm on the $15 a month plan and its worked out real good for me. The speeds are acceptable and are more than enough to listen to an MLB game or watch a movie on Netflix without constant buffering. Groove ip and google voice give me an extra phone number with unlimited calling if I should ever need it.
Your best bet is to tether like someone above me has posted. Only real drawback to that is that tethering drains your battery rather quickly.

Lucky you. Sprint 3G in my area wasn't fast enough to do much of anything, especially nothing that involved video or music.
