Firstly, wrong section. Post in Q&A. Second, no. You can use a friend's computer, but that's all there is.

Sorry about the wrong section and thanks
Mod could you please close the thread

And no, coming from stock, the only way to root is to flash a kernel with root injected... or Superoneclick/zurgrush root from a computer. Only after that can you start flashing from your phone.

This, is a question. Guess which section this belongs in? Q&A! That stands for Questions. And. Answers.
ok,sorry. it is possible to change room?
if its gingerbread you dont need to unlock it.. just run clockwork. I have a bell atrix with the 2.3.4 update and i didnt have to unlock but yet i flashed a rom and installed custom recovery.
If that^ isn't it, did you run the faarboot oem unlock command in faatboot yet?

The android XDA app needs a report button.... Could a mod please move this thread to the appropriate Q&A section?
The development section is for development purposes like for developers that create new roms and maintain them. The Q&A area is for question like yours.

Hi everybody, this tread is right for my phone.
I have an Atrix I-TIM branded with Android 2.2.2, no updates expected from TIM, tried this method to unlock it : http://briefmobile.com/how-to-unlock-the-atrix-4g-bootloader, but don't work.
I've root and recovery yet on and need to unlock bootloader to flash CM7 or other Roms.
Thanks for any advice here.

It is based off tapatalk, but doesn't have all of its features including the report option

no. this 'tread' is not right for your phone. this 'tread' is in the wrong section. if you have a problem with your phone, do a search and find a similar problem and fix it. once you have exhausted all searches, then you can create a new thread in the Q&A section....
Ok, Iwill do, but mind that this tread isn't closed and you can move it to the right section!
New tread here

that is not true?
to install a custom recovery you need to unlock the bootloader... that is the whole point of unlocking... unless you have some weird atrix...

I dunk the answer but you won't get one posting in the wrong section. Post this in q&a (which means questions and answers) and you'll have a speedy answer GL

you should probably post this in the Q&A Section but...
The easiest method to enable root access is probably through the toolkit which is stickied in this forum
The Flash Counter gains a number everytime you flash a custom kernel or rom.
I have no idea what you mean by your third question
It is capable to flash stock through Odin or through the toolkit.
Good luck!
sorry for posting in wrong section, please close

can i root without having to flash a rom?

I get so confused when rooting and what not..so i thought I would come here before i screw something up. I just want to simply root my phone so that I can use wifi-tether and if I can avoid it.. I don't want to flash a rom or do anything else special besides rooting. Can I do this or do i have to flash a rom for the rooting process?
You don't need to root to use wifi-tether. Just download a tether toggle app from the play store. The toggle will bypass the subscription screen.
What he said. And yes you can root and stay stock. You'll then have root access if you ever decide to make any mods.

Stock Firmware help needed

Heres my problem. Got this phone off craigslist. I think the guy who had it tried to root it and screwed something up. When I try to update to the newest software it always fails. I am looking for a way to re flash all stock software back onto my sch i 605 note 2. The phone does not curently have any kind of recovery's downloaded. Is there any easy way to flash back to stock using Odin? Searched through all the forums and websites I could find. but just could not find exactly what I was looking for.
Hint: stickie in the section you're incorrectly posting in.

No. Once you're rooted, there are tools you can use to update ROMs without a computer, but you've got to at least have superuser access.
There's no way to gain that which doesn't require a computer.
I think he's on a rooted ROM already, hence why he's wanting to go back to stock rooted. Use mobile odin from the play store. There's many threads on how to use it, so search for one of those. I'd give you detailed instructions or link you to them, but I'm on my phone and not at home to get to the computer. Hope this helps
