Dear (ME),
Unfortunately, we just received word that the ASUS Transformer Primehas been delayed worldwide and will most likely not be available beforeChristmas. ASUS feels the WiFi range does not currently meet their standardsand has delayed all shipments worldwide. At the moment there is no ETA and noinformation on available quantities on the first batch.
If this was intended as a gift, we would like to recommend changing toa different tablet to ensure on time delivery for the holidays. Otherwise, werecommend keeping your order in place to hold your position in the queue for atablet once they are available. If you decide you would like to have yourorder cancelled, please contact our customer care department here:
http://secure1.ncix.com/message/?dept=2
In the meantime, we would like to offer you a $25 off coupon on anyother in stock tablet.
http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?minorcatid=1384&in=1
Please find a tablet that suits your needs and add to your shoppingcart. Then add the coupon code “Tablet25-914091” to the couponcode field on the top right of the Shopping Cart page to receive $25 off yourpurchase. This coupon code will expire December 31st.

This was from NCIX Canada an official TFP reseller. It does say worldwide delays... I hope they're wrong. Anyways. Make what you will of it, we still don't have a release date. Figures.
Probably not going to cancel, so feel free to grab that code if you want 25$ off a new tablet from NCIX.

Thanks for that info. I find it most interesting that Asus still hasn't officially come out and said anything. Well anything other than how many people are enjoying their tablet. My question is though that obviously if this is a worldwide issue, if Asus choose to postpone the canadian launch and reroute a known good batch of tablets to some of their US retailers. I say this since both GameStop and BestBuy both seem to be sticking to launch dates of the 19th which means they must be getting tablets from Asus. Also which is why other retailers are stating after christmas and why Amazon canceled orders. Because they knew they wouldn't get enough from Asus to meet demands.
While this does suck, it could however mean that they will launch with ICS. Asus wouldn't delay a launch for a software issue, so this is likely a hardware issue and will require the entire lineup to be redone which will take sone time.

The other possibility is that bestbuy and gamestop are just much slower to send the info down through their internal channels and to their customers. NCIX and memory express in canada are much smaller so maybe they simply are getting the info out quicker. Who knows though

While that is always a possibility, some people are recieving status updates on their orders with the docks shipped date being moved up from BestBuy to the 19th, the same day as the tablet, without the tablet date being pushed back. Also with GameStop they always stop taking orders on special items when they meet their quota. If they stopped because they reached their quota that means they know how many they are getting and since they haven't told customers that they are delayed and even promised to ship a few tablets to non-tablet stores, they are pretty confident in their stock and probably already have them in their warehouse for distribution.

Lets hope So. Keeping my fingers crossed for all of us. We are to close now. A week n 3-4 days Prime should be in my hands. I was told the 19th several times when I preordered a few weeks back. Haven't called to check since. As I felt confident they will have it. Some places already have them in the back but can't distribute them until the 19th.
Asus should just give all of us who preordered from GameStop a free controller and dock for our troubles.

Apparently they know what the problem is and are able to turn it around quickly.
http://www.anandtech.com/show/5178/an-update-on-transformer-prime-battery-life-wifi-issues
The guys (if history is any indicator) at AnandTech have been pretty spot on with both release dates and reviews, check out there review on the Prime as an example. They were (as far as I know) the first to point out a problem with the WiFi. Of course Asus told them it was a defective unit (suspect), regardless they withheld there final analysis until they received a second unit which did "not" exhibit the same WiFi issues, which then to me means, they are able to fix it quickly, maybe a ROM update or something, IDK, regardless we will see. GameStop where I have mine on pre-order here in Houston continues to tell me it will be available on the 19th. I am a personal friend of the manager, his wife works with my wife ...kinda thing. If he had heard anything to the contrary he would tell me, so for now...on target.
Ouch. Even if we get tablets on-time they're likely to be busted. The wifi on the demo unit at GameStop definitely was fluctuating wildly both times I played with it, I had assumed the signal just sucked, but I didn't compare to my phone.
It's also concerning that the "fixed" one was still much more impeded than the original transformer.
yup. waiting for my email now. which is fine ill wait I do not care.
Edit. Got my email. Sounds good

Where did you do the preorder in houston? GS told me I was the first to preorder at the 249, spring cypress location. With all this issue and asus not saying a word maybe I should just not expect it before xmas. If you bought the transformer you would remember that asus pull the same **** with the supply. We didn't even know where it was going to be available, just had to try different online retailers. But at least it had a release date count down. My guess is within a few days of availability asus will announce the date. And if it was to be after the 19th...I'm canceling all my preorders. **** that...asus claiming to be first quadcore with ics. We already know the prime is not first with ICS. Hopefully it can still be first quadcore.

For starters, there is no other quad core tablet out now. Even if prime doesn't show until febuary or march, it will still be first quad core with ICS. as it'll ship with it or update to ICS immediately after. That Chinese tablet running ICS is b.s. Anyways..lmao plus it's not a powerful device at all. So Asus will still hold both titles until someone else has same setup on store shelves. Some people already have device in their hands. So first quad core is already achieved. ICS will be available to update to very soon. No other quad core won't release until at least march at earliest and that's pushing it. Ipad3 won't be quad core or running ICS. That Acer n Samsung tablet still a long ways away. It's all still rumpled right now. No physical devices been shown. Only good tablet that's about to be released soon other than prime is the galaxy tab 7.7. Which will the best/most powerful/best display having out of all the galaxy lineup. Aside from the Galxy note

I wish Asus would have said "we have no wifi issue" instead of the "we didn't know anything about wifi issue"
Asus would really make points with me if they really delayed the tab because the wifi has problems.
I mean better than shipping it with knowing the problems.
But again Asus does not give any information and that sucks big deal...

I have an order for the 64 GB Prime (Gray) at Amazon and have not received the cancellation notification yet.
However, just to be on the safe side, I also pre-ordered from J&R.
Well, just about 5 minutes ago, J&R called me and told me that the 64 GB (Gray) will not be shipped out until January 2012 due to Asus suspending the shipment.
How is it that I keep reading on here that Gamestop would have it available on December 19 ? Why is it that Asus suspend the Prime on some store and not on others? Strange.

This seems to be the same thing that happened to the Amazon preorders.
None of the "official" ASUS preorder sites took orders on the 64GB version... I'm wondering if I just shouldn't expect this until mid-January. No date in December for a 64GB version seem to be panning out...

Given that Gamestop is listed as an official preorder destination on Asus' website, and J&R is not, I don't find this all that surprising. There is almost certainly an extra middleman distributor supplying stores like J&R, Adorama, and some of the other sites folks have found to order one, but Asus' commitment is to their official preorder outlets, and making sure they have enough stock to fulfill their preorders.
I haven't received a call from J&R yet, but I figure I will. When did you order yours Earthbrain?
This seems to be the trend. Newegg still seems to be on track, as is gamestop. ASUS is funneling the supply into a more focused retail base, and seems to staying true to their main channel partners.
Certainly no doubt at this point that there is a huge shortage of this thing...what concerns me is that there was such a huge initial preorder allocation, and it isn't that they are running out of preorder slots, it's that the stock just isn't appearing in the supply chain...which in the industry usually means a manufacturing issue.
That is of course unless ASUS just grossly underestimated the demand.

Crap. I ordered mine on Sunday, and I got the 32GB flavor which you would think would be in even shorter supply. I guess I'll call them today.
So weird that it seems like my Gamestop preorder is going to be the one that holds up at this point.
I placed my order a while ago and got the "backordered" email, but that was explained to me that they must send it if the unit isn't available or a special pre-order. I was told it's still on target for the 15th as they hadn't received new info.

I'm not sure this forum and those placing pre-orders is a good indicator for demand. The technophiles here may only represent a tiny percentage of the population. I think we'll find out when they hit Amazon or Newegg if they remain in stock.

I'm skeptical of the huge demand as well. I live in a small twin city situation with about 200,000 people within 2 towns 20 miles apart. Between the two Gamestops in my area that sell tablets (there are 3 or 4 GS's per town) there have only been two preorders. Total. Me and one other guy. I will be interested to see the initial sales numbers on this device. I think overall, to the general public, Android tablets have a bad(cheap) name. At the GS in the town neighboring mine the manager said they are about to quit carrying tablets all together due to low demand.
Don't get me wrong though. I think this tablet should be creating some demand and likely will once more normal people see it. I have just not been convinced of it's huge preorder demand as of yet.

They don't really seem to know and in fact got their colors wrong on initial pre-orders. Anyway, they claim they are a big retailer and that's true so they expect first availability. I think it is encouraging that they were told a date by Asus for their in stock date.

When my order got canceled on amazon, same day as everyone and I ordered on the 22nd also, I came and order at JR that evening using google checkout. They still haven't called me saying they've canceled. Any chance I'm going to get a 32gb champagne gold? Should I call them and check the date? I don't have much faith in this order.
Yesterday, I put in a preorder at a gamestop location. They say that they are one of the location receiving the prime and I was the first one to preorder at that location. They said that they didn't have any in stock yesterday but expecting to arrive before 19th. I think they only have the 32gb grey. I'll settle for that if I have to. Would like to get what I wanted from JR to avoid tax also, but not getting a good feeling. I've got so many stuff canceled on me this holiday I'm getting pissed.
Any good news from anyone out there. You guys been told of the date that it will be available or something that's not canceled?
My guess is that the general public don't really know or care too much about this, it's not like an apple product or anything. Yet, I'm surprise that asus still fail to supply again.

absolutely... as a matter of fact, no one knows about the TP outside the usual geek crowds... i mean, there are no advertisements for the damn thing, so what do you expect, right? haha... contrary to that fact, there are all these shortages and some whack shipment schedules... some sketchy sh!t, that's for sure...
Just to reiterate what others have said, I called J&R to verify my preorder today and was told that they wouldn't receive any units until sometime early next year. I originally pre-ordered on Sunday the 4th, but it sounds like they won't get any stock until the new year, no matter when you got your order in.

If it's important to you, I would hedge my bets and get in the car. The guy I spoke with made it sound as if the Primes in general wouldn't show up until the new year, not that my Prime wouldn't show up until then.
Can't hurt to hang on to your preorder, but I don't think you should count on it at this point.
ok quick question? Is there a delay or not? Will prime launch at 19th of December ot not?
It depends on who you ask. So... no one really knows.
The Verge (I think it was them) got a response from Asus that said shipments will be going out the week of the 19th.
well sir, if you read any of the forum posts,
NOBODY KNOWS
its ALL speculative
You must not have noticed the 30+ threads trying to glean every word spoken or written by anyone even closely associated with Asus or any one of their delivery partners, tech blogs, forums or the palm reader on the corner to ascertain the actual day, time and second the Prime will begin shipping.
If we knew for certain the day I am sure there would be several posts clamoring to be the first to announce it.

Most of today's comments from online resellers are that they don't know when they're receiving their shipments and some saying delivery will most likely be after X-Mas. Check the Adorama, B&H, and Fry's threads for detail.
Best Buy's saying the 19th is on and people who pre-ordered there are trying to guess the hidden meaning of having their credit cards re-authorized (apparently they periodically re-authorize on pre-orders).
Amazon's canceled all 32GB and calls today indicate the 64GB won't ship before X-Mas.
GameStop has demo units and people have said some stores have inventory but aren't allowed to sell it yet.
Asus Canada's said shipments are delayed indefinitely while a Wi-Fi range problem is resolved.

Let's look at it this way. No one besides asus know that question. So that eliminates almost everything posted on the internet by anyone besides asus.
Now let's assume that only asus can tell us the answer. Asus USA says it will be released on the 19th. Now you have two choices, believe that or don't. So you got 50/50 still. According to asus usa it's not delayed.
Bottom line seems to be this, in the interest of maybe forestalling other such threads (ha!): ASUS is shipping SOME stock to SOME retailers on or before the 19th. So, they'll live up to their public statements. However, they're shipping far fewer units to far fewer retailers than expected. So, only a select few with the right pre-orders at the right retailers (Best Buy and Gamestop, most likely) will actually get Primes before the end of the year.
Pretty much anyone who wants one should be able to get one by, say, February.
I think that's probably as solid a bit of speculating as anyone is able to conduct at this point.
Engadget is pretty reliable, they got something from Asus saying that it will ship on the 18th. Pretty sure it's shipping.

All of this.
Asus may have screwed themselves by not getting more inventory out prior to CES. People buying tablets for X-Mas will have made a different choice and people who haven't gotten one by January may wait based on how soon what's announced at CES is expected to be available. Once the "I have to have it first" wave passes there's no rush for existing first-gen tablet owners.

This appears to be their latest. It changed from the "19th" to the "week of the 19th" which may or may not mean anything.

I personally think that Asus planned a Dec 9th release, but this was moved to the 19th for them to fix the minor wifi issue that was in the preview units. So the delay was already incurred. The problem would then be inventory ramp up which was slower due to fixing the issue. Since most of the rumors are coming from non-us sources or smaller chains, one can assume that this is really a supply issue and not an actual hardware delay.
I am willing to bet that if you haven't heard from the retailer you pre-ordered from about a delay, then you will probably get one shipped the week of the 19th. However, its all a guessing game which obviously has people sensitive.

If that's all it was, then Asus are idiots for not just coming out and saying so. When there's a problem, people are much more forgiving if you're frank and open with your communication. Asus Canada at least had the balls to tell their resellers that there was a problem. Asus U.S.' terse one sentence responses to inquiries by the media mean either: A) something's going on or went on that they haven't wrapped their hands around, or B) what you said is true and their PR people should be fired. And any one that says this is all intentional to build up buzz and intrigue doesn't know PR.
Bottom line is if the early units people receive work flawlessly then all of this will be forgotten in a couple of weeks and Asus will come out unscathed. God help Asus if after all the gymnastics people went though to get one there's common issues or problems. Especially Wi-Fi related issues because that's what Asus Canada reported as the reason for the delay and Asus U.S. has denied via their silence. If that happens their obvious rush to get it to market and all the secrecy about the delay will come back and bite them in the ass.

Absolutely No it Won't! Wait, I just read a site that claims that they heard another site that said that their little brother knows a tipster, that knows a friend who's cousin is a friend of a social worker, that knows a guy that used to work with Asus and says his inside source is as confused as this post is and all these other ones are!

it means no Christmas gift for me. Now seriously I just got a "friendly" email from Best buy explaining me my order has been backordered, I'm cancelling right now(a $650 order with dock), 2-3 more weeks waiting is totally unacceptable, I pre-ordered mine on November 23th, by the time tf201 is out, it will be only 2 weeks away from ipad 3 release, and there won't be any guarantees asus will deliver on time, it may be another delay. I will better wait for apple 3(already have an ipad 2 and tf101), so long asus.
Thanks, the more pre-orders that cancelled, the sooner I get mine!

iPad 3 isn't coming out in late January.
i got the same email
I am in the same boat. This was the sole gift for my 7 year old Autistic son.
I can understand the supply issues with a preorder product. However, I was in contact with Best Buy every day and, although each rep had a different story, all we ensuring me that I would get this by Christmas and that there were no problems with the order getting filled. Then, of course, they backorder the thing on the VERY LAST FULL SHOPPING DAY OF THE YEAR. Now most places are bare, will not be getting more shipments and a very unlikelihood of being able to order anything online for the holiday. To butter it up, Besy Buy reps have not made any offer to make good on this screw up. At least Gamestop and Amazon gave out credits.
I am going to be calling to make a huge stink today. I am not cancelling until I have the product from somewhere else, but I am going to spread the same holiday cheer they have with me.
By the way, feel free to contact the corporate offices and the CEO to send your holiday wishes as well:

Have you ever once considered that it is asus who is giving you the shaft? Seriously, they've pushed back the release date over and over and still have never given a solid date that it will be released. I'm sure BB wants to make money, they are not delaying orders just to piss people off here.

Has anyone considered that no one is giving anyone the shaft, that crap sometimes happens that corporations cannot foresee? I think asus cannot keep up with the demand, and Best Buy probably had way to many people order. Granted the communication has been horrible, from every company dealing with this. I am in the same boat as you guys, waiting for it, but I do not believe that anyone set out to do this.

It's more that they should've informed their customers that Asus is being stupid. Of course they said the 18th was just an ETA, but I was told countless times that there is no reason to believe it won't be shipping on that date. I had one guy tell me it had shipped to UPS and should get a shipping confirmation soon. All of that is unacceptable.
Remember the last 2 ipads re announced in Feb and did not ship until April. I would guess this one will be no different. Good luck getting one in February.

Best Buy is responsible for fulling orders. If they did not have stock then they should not have been taking pre-orders. Other vendors did this, so Best Buy should be able to do it too. There's other things like maybe letting people know sooner their order would not be fulfilled.
I expect a retailer to be able to count.

I agree. Best Buy is the one that changed the dock's shipping date from 12/31 to 12/19. They could have send an email in advance about the delay issue. Now I won't have a Christmas present due to this "Primegate" fiasco.

They did the same with the delayed release of the Thunderbolt. They are incompetent. I was giving them a second chance but now I am fed up with them. I canceled and ordered with Amazon again. Asus' CEO publically said "November" for release. Then Asus said "12/9." Then Asus said "12/19." Then Asus said "the week of 12/19." They'll make their last commitment but by sending far fewer units to far fewer resllers then they originally planned. The Galaxy Nexus was a highly anticipated device for VZW. They didn't officially launch it until their was enough inventory in the pipeline (stores, VZW.com, resellers) so that people looking for it didn't have to pull their hair out. Something happened that screwed up Asus' ability to honor their original commitments to resellers. Since they're a public company, they will have forecast "x" amount of Prime sales in 2011. We'll see when they file their Q4 earnings report how badly they missed their earlier projections. Bottom line is they rushed the product to be first to market with Teg3, encountered issues and had no slack in their timeline to deal with them, and are claiming victory by eeking out a small quantity of product this year.

Totally not true. BB, like Amazon, was told by Asus how much initial inventory they'd be receiving and what the flow would be subsequently. They sold pre-orders based on those commitments. Asus botched the commitment causing both BB and Amazon to have to cancel or back-order customer orders. Amazon deserves props for getting the message out early and at least giving their customers an option to find a "plan B."

This happened last time. I'm really not sure what the exact cause of it is but it seems like their production/supply chain/delivery process is unreliable.
You would think they would have learned something the first time...
Honestly, a delay wouldn't be too bad. But, they have to be public about it -- not leave customers in the dark. This whole time they're trying to market this thing by giving it away on facebook but people who actually want to buy the thing, can't. Where is Asus's official message about these botched commitments? Asus isn't as big as some companies but it isn't a small company either; they should have said something by now. You limit the damage by being upfront with your customers.
As an update, I called and gave the rep a hard time expressing my opinion that Best Buy needed to make some attempt to make good. Finally after asking for free next day shipping and some sort of compensation for not getting anything for christmas, I was told they could not credit the order, but got an "issue number" to call back after it ships to get reimbursed for the shipping cost. Also they are sending me a $25 gift card.
It sucks to have to ask for this. I told them that upgrading the shipping was in their best interest because if I find it somewhere else they lose a sale. Of course, after they changed the order my status went from backordered to order in process, but I am sure this will revert back and was only because the order was changed.

You're spot on. I've seen Asus' CEO speak and he's a bit of a character. His ego's also as big as a house. I'm guessing instead of letting the product drive the timeline he mandated the reverse. Product management's reported to me and this consequence is what happens when dates become more important then quality - in either the product or roll-out. Nine women can't have a baby in a month.

I think you're right. I think it's partly cause their CEO's a cowboy. I think the other part is that Asus made a strategic decision to be big in tablets (unlike, say, Acer, whose support is half-hearted). Asus wanted to be technology leader, in hardware, and OS, but had to hit the window before iPad 3 was released. So the CEO pushed, and drove the organization to the point where, as you say, dates drove the product, rather than conversely.
I for one, appreciate the strategic decision, and that emphasis is why I decided to return my Acer A500, and just wait for the Asus TF. I understand bleeding edge, vs leading edge, and pre-ordered one from BB on 12/4. So I got the 2 week wait email also. I was hoping for "on-time" delivery, but would have been surprised had it arrived before Christmas. So now it's a matter of managing my "wants" more than cursing BB.
That doesn't stop me from disliking BB's pre-order and order management practices. I doubt I'll online order from them again.

I've had a few issues with them on some stuff but I had no idea how disjointed their order and dispatch systems were until the Prime incident(s). You'd think that after the death of CompUSA and Circuit City they'd have made some investments in their infrastructure. They managed this process far worse than some much smaller resellers.

At other times, when it was OOS, the Office Depot site kept suggesting the TF101 and kept trying to put it into your cart as a substitute. So stay alert during checkout.

I actually have a pre-order with them from 12/22 which had estimated delivery for 12/27. I have yet to receive it.
I e-mailed them and the response I got today was:
This is in reference to when you will receive order ********. According to our replenishment department , this item should be in stock at the distribution center by the end of this week . We should be able to ship by next week. I do apologize for any inconvenience. Thank you for your business.
What about the keyboard dock?
I just ordered from Office Depot. Rep promised me it would be delivered Jan 6th.
I figure I will get a second Prime (i already have one) to see if it has any defects (hopefully not). And plan to sell whichever one has the worst defects.
(current one has dust under screen, screen bleed and broken wifi, laggy performance but it may just be a software problem.)

Located in east coast. Thats why mine is going to take a week longer to ship to my nearest warehouse.
I called and asked for overnight shipping, and I'll pay for it, but was told that its unavailable for it. WTF! Only the 3 day shipping option is available
Hmm. So I ordered one of these just now, but now I feel like cancelling.
I keep reading about all these different issues with the device that I somehow think that if I wait for my Amazon pre-order to ship, that next batch from them will be less prone to have those issues, plus I'll get the gold color, which I think looks a bit cooler.
Is it likely that when Amazon gets more in stock that they will be updated and in better shape than these first batches, or am I just as likely to get one with issues?
Also, Amazon estimates february 1st as the shipping date, is it likely this will quickly change to sooner in early January, so I wouldn't be waiting much longer?
Should I not cancel?

That is a hard decision to make. I had one on pro-order from GS that is supposed to be delivered on 01/11 which is only about 11 days differentce from the one I should be getting this Friday, so chances are they are from the same lot and my chances of getting a lemo are probably 50/50 from either shipment.
But I think you might have a more valid point, if they are fixing the issues the are coming up, the later you order/get it, the better your chances of getting a unit with little to no issues.
Let me ask you something, when you are thinking about "sticking" a woman, do you go to the forums and ask them if you should. Decision is entirely yours. Never let someone's opinion influence what you buy. You would be angry if it doesn't work for you and even angrier for listening to someone when you knew better. Just know that there is a manufacturer's warranty and if you can live with the wait for repairs, then that's a start.

Well, the first batch of TF101 tablets had really bad screen bleed and build quality... I just bought one (TF101) last month and it was just as bad, horrible screen bleed and backing loose and falling off (and last month i ordered two and both had these same defects that the very first batch had).
One was from bestbuy and the other was from amazon. Asus isnt too good at working out the defects, so I would say yes no matter when you get your prime, it will have some sort of defect.
Just have to hope for a minor defect, or one that you could live with.

True.
My main question was whether people knew if ASUS would be actively fixing these issues for their later batches, so I should have just asked that. My other questions were just thought streams that I didn't analyze before typing.
Ordered mine on 12/28, did a live chat today and this is what i was told
Irving: Thank you for your patience. I checked you order, it will most likely ship on January 3, 2012.
Michael: will that be overnight shipping?

Bought my first Prime from Gamestop in January, returned mostly because of light bleed, but also WiFi/GPS was horrible. Bought second Prime beginning of February, but it has WiFi/BT issues, so I'm going to return it also.
I've read so many positive reviews that I'm hoping my next Prime will be great, and looking forward to exchanging it... not just a refund.
BUT I CANNOT FIND PRIMES ANYWHERE LOCALLY!!
Given the fact that the Primes have an awesome less then 1% failure rate, why are they not on the shelves at retailers? Why are the retailers not sure when, or even if, they will get more stock?
Thanks in advance for your answer.

Thanks knives. I thought that site was only for online vendors, who are moving whatever inventory that managed to get their way through the supply chain.
I had no idea that site provided local retail availability!!!
It is an interesting question though... Where are the primes? It seems as though availability is getting worse, not better. Has Asus decided the beta period is over, and is now switching to produce production models?
No joke... I sent mine back to Amazon after soft bricking, for a new replacement... ****, 64GB Primes are 4 -6 weeks out.
I hope they are doing some big time quality control improvement, and the new ones, when they do come out will be problem free.

If you go to Staples website and search for Asus transformer prime, you won't get results. The only way to find the tablet is to use google and search for staples asus transformer prime. I think that Staples is gearing up to stop selling the device completely.
Couple that with my 2 local staples returning all of their stock to the warehouse and I'm starting to think that asus is going to slowly stop selling the prime. Would make sense with all of the issues it has.
It makes business sense to stop selling the device and get out the new units with "improved wireless" ASAP so they can stop eating all the costs of having to deal with their mistake on the TF201.

Seems I was a bit premature giving thanks to Knives. (By the way, I'm an Amazon Prime member)
NowInStock.net only shows online retailers. Given enough margin, online retailers will sell anything.
What is strange is every local retailer that carried the Prime is now telling me the same story:
They've heard of problems with the Prime
They've had a lot of returns of the Prime
They have no estimate of when, or if, they will get new stock
Not just one, but all of them: BestBuy, HHGRegg, GameStop and even Staples!
Since Gary has confirmed the Prime has less than 1% failure rate, which is AWESOME, it just seems strange that no local retailers are expecting new stock. If these things are flying off the shelves, why don't any retailers have them or at least an ETA?
The TFP is exactly what I want. For me, higher resolution "2048xwhatever" is just too small on a 10" display, plus it will be slower.
Even Apple products are not this constrained after two months, where people camp out and wait for them.
Its been two months, and retailers are saying due to problems we're not sure when we'll get more?
Ofcourse, there is always the extermely remote possibility that Gary is not telling us the truth. That retailers have suffered from such a high return rate, they have decided not to carry that SKU anymore.
Which I'm sure is not the case. I'm sure Gary will post here tomorrow and clear things up.

No joke... I sent mine back to Amazon after soft bricking, for a new replacement... ****, 64GB Primes are 4 -6 weeks out.
I hope they are doing some big time quality control improvement, and the new ones, when they do come out will be problem free.

@Swift, howdy , I see your located in C-Stat. I actually called the BB here in C-Stat today to see if there were any Primes available after returning my 2nd one last weekend. The rep told me they could have 2 avail by tomorrow and to call in the morning. Just a heads up if your looking bro.
Also guys, I called the BB in my hometown and on 2 different occasions they told me they were waiting on the "new batch" of primes b/c of all the problems they have been having with them. No info as to when this "new batch" is hitting stores though.

HOWDY!
Thanks, but I'm replacing my 64GB Grey, which as far as I know BB doesn't carry. Besides, I'm getting a full replacement from Amazon... whenever they get some again.
With the law suit happening (and probably winning), it'd be smart for Asus not to ship any new primes.

BINGO! Exactly what i did. I was like WTH cant i find it on their site. Light bulb went off & i used google & it came up. Did a store check and what do you know..... 2 stores locally just got a stock. I grabbed my jacket, & GF and ran! LOL. Actually the guy held it for me.
Oh also when i returned my original to BB the lady said they were not selling them anymore because of the high return rate.

no idea why anyone would want to buy it locally, unless you like wasting time and money. no tax with amazon and the easiest return system ever.
i order with amazon prime and get it the next day for 3.99...truly amazing service

I'm an Amazon Prime member too.
I guess you missed the seperate paragraph, which was in ALL CAPS, that said:
"BUT I CANNOT FIND PRIMES ANYWHERE LOCALLY!!"
Some people don't mind spending a little extra money and time, to buy something locally. But since you have no idea why that would happen, its not valid. Guessing you have no use for GPS or BT also.

I Googled Staples and TF201 and found it on their site. Checked local availability a couple days ago, and there were a couple stores with stock. Returning my Prime tomorrow. Re-checked Staples, no local availability. Plus if you check their main site, they don't even acknowledge TF201 as an item.
Must be because its so poplular, they don't want to sell it.
We can't help but feel that we're being lied to by Asus. These things are f'd up and being sent back as fast as they can ship them. Very disappointed in Asus for this massive f'up. 1% failure rate my a$$. I was totally ready to accept a unit w non functioning GPS (as I won't use it), but screen bleed out the a$$! no. And still a locked bootloader!

I know how you feel (except I would use the GPS). But I'm sure local retailers are wrong, and a boat-load of fully functional TFP's are on their way to retailers.
I bet the retailers got caught up in reading XDA posts and didn't pay attention to their actual return rates, which are less than 1%, like Gary said.
Seriously looking forward to Gary's reply. I know he has a couple PM's, but with less than 1% defects, spending 30 seconds addressing this thread will clear things up for a lot of existing and potential customers.
NCIX in Canada shows >53 in stock of 32 and 64 gb versions. I bought one there last month and it was such a hassle returning. I had to demonstrate all issues to the service guy and he was very reluctant to take it back until he got the ok from ASUS. I won't be buying my next tablet from them. Their return policy is horrible.
I am awaiting confirmation on this forum that a new batch is on its way.
West coast.
