Hey guys. Got a problem here. My Coby 7022(which I have read that the hardware is known for problems) will not wake up on sleep after a period of time, so im sending it back to get an exchange. My problem is....I could uninstall superuser, but cannot find out(and ive looked everywhere) how to go back to original recovery. If someone would be kind enough to give me their stock recovery dump and explain how to do it, id greatly appreciate it.
Any help would be appreciated as I need this done ASAP
Thanks,
Zacho56
I am going to "try" to help you.
1) you want to remove Superuser...that is easy. we can do it later.
2) you say you want to go back to stock recovery? are you using CWM now? FDWN or fastoot?
I will be around most of the day today. reply back soon

Download the zip at bottom of post.
move it to your /root directory of your sd card.
make sure you have no other files named"update.zip"(if you do rename it to something else.zip)
change name of downloaded file to "update.zip"
in settings/about phone or about device you should see an option to update. press that. it will install the update.zip to you device.
please report back and let me know if this worked.
more information:
the stock recovery is <3e> your CPU is a telechips tcc8803. I am not sure what you have been using for a search but insted use tcc8803 .

every thing I have provided here is what I think you are asking for. I am unable to test files due to not having the 7022. I am mostly know the 7015....so...use them at your own risk. I will keep digging aaround and post any thing else that i think might help.

On day 2 of getting this phone over a month ago I did the lagfix from the file named RyanZAEXT2LagFix.zip and I also rooted so I could get rid of Bing and use wireless tether. I got the OTA update from Verizon and wasn't going to apply it but I did by accident (while taking it out of my pocket). So now my phone is sluggish and sometimes apps take longer than they should to start up.
I've searched and I may have found what I need to do but I'm not sure because I'm a noob (obviously). There are a few threads in this forum that I've found might be my solution but I can't post links in my thread to show you guys because this is my first post and it won't let me.
I want to return my phone to day 1 conditions, I only renamed apps I didn't want originally so I guess I can re-root and rename them back to .apk files (if needed?).
If there is a thread on this then please just point me to it, I have been looking but I'm just not sure which process is the right one to take.
Thanks, sorry that I'm a noob.
Did you happen to install CWM when you rooted the phone? If you did look here.

If you haven't yet, do so now then follow the first links instructions

Don't you have to flash a kernel? Or will doing this work? Or how about this ?
Thanks guys, I think (after more searching and from what was suggested here) that I should re-root, flash clockwork, then take a clean rom and flash it on there. Any thing I should know that wouldn't come obvious? Do I need to rename my bing app back to .apk?
Thanks.
Also, since root was taken away when I updated, to re-root is it the same process as in
forum.androidcentral.com/fascinate-roms-hacks/33899-how-root.html
or does the process change since it got rooted/un-rooted?
edit: nevermind, rooted it no problem.
I remember when I was looking for all this info I had to jump from board to board to board and
experience tons of trial and error when I was successful with my own device then wounded up
bricking my phone or someone elses based on other factors, or OCLF/CWM not working in recovery,
all that fun stuff.
So I decided to design this guide as a way for a person to make one stop at this guide, and
find everything you need with some tips I had to learn the hardway.
First while YES you can root/flash your phone from 2.2 Froyo official Samsung it is more complicated
and you risk a LOT more. I HIGHLY recommend doing a flash BACK to 2.1 update 1 to make your phone
bone stock to the way it was when you first bought it (Or if you bought it with 2.2 the way it was at launch.
Its a MUCH easier process and almost impossible for something to go wrong in the process. These
steps will help if you have also bricked your phone (Kinda bricked anyways)or its stuck in a bootloop.
Also while rooting is great to apply some Lag Fixes and such there really is no point unless
your going to flash a new ROM (or OS if you're new to this) because you probably don't use your
phone to utilize any of this stuff anyways.
Before you start please be sure to have the drivers working for your phone on your PC.
If you are running Windows 7/Vista and User Account Control (UAC) is enabled, be sure
to right click the Odin icon and select Run as Administrator.
DISCLAIMER:This is my contribution to the wonderful android community here that has given me
a wealth of information on this subject, and had it not been for these boards and others like
it I would not be able to enjoy my phone and the contributions made here by so many hardworking
people. With that said. I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR YOU DAMAGING YOUR PHONE.
1.Back up everything in either Titanium backup or to PC (PC backup can only save Pictures etc.
not your message logs/call logs/account settings/etc.) A Nandroid backup should work equally as
well.
2.Shut Down phone into Download Mode so Odin can recognize phone.
-If phone is in boot loop or bricked:
-Plug USB cable into PC
-Take out battery
-Put battery back in
-Hold Vol Up + Vol Down buttons at same time
-While holding inster USB cable into phone
-Odin should now recognize device in download mode
3.Load Files into proper fields. (.TAR into TAR,.PIT into PIT)
4.Do not check any other boxes then defaults. You only want the PIT file and .TAR files for this.
5.Click Start.
6.Phone should begin flash process
NOTE: EVERYTHING ON YOUR PHONE AT THIS POINT WILL BE ERASED! KERNEL, BASEBAND, ROOT, ETC.
YOUR PHONE WILL BECOME COMPLETELY STOCK AS THOUGH IT WAS JUST PULLED FROM THE SHELF
IN THE UNITED STATES.
7.If process completes the phone will reboot on its own. If it gets stuck in any one process
without moving, just close the program, and repeat steps. Might take a few tries.
Once stock OS of 2.1 Update 1 is applied you can install the update.zip on the SD.
NOTE:YOU DO NOT EXTRACT THE .zip! JUST SIMPLY PLACE IT ONTO THE INTERNAL SD IN NO FOLDER.
If you're running 2.2 froyo and you were just flashed back to 2.1, then you should already have
an update.zip. Thats fine, delete the old one and replace the new one.
1.Now that the update.zip is on your phone the rest is really is. You can root your phone using
this file from your phone. Go into recovery by holding the Vol Up+Vol Down+Power button at the
same time while the phone is off. Let go once the Vibrant logo appears.
2.Select reinstall packages. Phone should reboot and you are now rooted!
If from here you want to flash a ROM over your current OS its simple.
1.When the phone reboots and you see you have SuperUse permissions you are rooted.
2.Go to the market and download ROM manager.
3.Select Install ClockWork Recovery Mod for your specific phone within the ROM manager app.
Find your ROM, Drop it into your SD the same way as the update.zip
4.Shut down your phone and boot back into Recovery Console.
5.Select Reinstall Packages again. This should Install ClockWork (CWM) OVER your recovery console.
If it doesnt take the first time just do it again, it will take you to a different color
console.
6.Once in CWM select the item using the Vol Up or Down buttons and power to select on Install
Zip from SD card.
7.Then pick Choose/Select .zip to Install.
8.Find your ROM, Select it. Select Yes to install.
9.WHAMMY your device is now installing the ROM and you have a flashed and rooted super android phone
on steroids.
Hope this helped.

I wanted this to help people who are new and scared. lol
The guide that s15274n has is like the bible to this. but I know sometimes that much information can be either overwhelming or confusing to some.
So hopefully this helps out some people!
Thanks for the post man. The more ways to help the better. Mine has a ton more detail, but some may not want / need that much.

And that is EXACTLY what I was hoping to accomplish. Sadly though I didn't stumble across your thread last night when I had soft bricked my brothers phone and was doing a million google searches to find the work around on his boot loop frenzied phone (Recovery console was even corrupt).
So after what seemed like 1000 snipits from different articles I was able to mostly compile this. And then throw in some warnings for future rooters/flashers.
Had I known Samsung's own 2.2 release was going to be so AWFUL compared to 2.1 I never would have upgraded. But then again if I probably never would have flashed/rooted. haha. Oh well what can you do.

Hello everybody,
At first I would like to thank you for the anwers you'll post
I'm new in that forum and i hope to find a solution for my trouble
So I installed some apk on my viewpad in order to have the market and to create a google count
But my tablet switch off suddenly and reboot continuely
I found a firware on this site F70_VSAM__ etc and I installed it in recovery mode
but there were a missing file which coundln't be installed : tmp/userdata
I want to tell when I was on recovery mode I made a reset factory but nothing change
Did I eraise all the data on my tablet
The problem is I can't send it to repair because it was rooted with gingerbreak
Have you got some solutions for me ?
I would be very glad to read your post
Thanks so much
I would try to redownload update for and try to update again. Verify file size and or checksum after downloading.
I have not done a factory reset on mine so i can not verify the outcome of a factory reset other than I would bet that all personal data has been removed. Not sure if it effects root.
Also, after you are able to update, you will have to root again using same method.
thanks so much for your answer
but I tried many times and two kind of files and it's the same every time
how could i put a file root and where could i find it ?
Which recovery mode are you in when you try to update? I know that vol up + power on is a different mode than vol down + power on. Have yet to figure what the difference is between the two are.
I have decompressed the update file that i have and there is a userdata.img file in it. Not sure how to tell it to install/update that file.
Mabye you might try different sd card if available.
Also just wondering if it is able to boot, and how far it might get during a normal boot.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA
so I used power + up to access the recovery mode and i don't know the difference between the two modes
i decompressed the package and i haven't got the userdata.img file in it and I think that's the trouble
the boot lasts about more than a minute, there are the picture of the birds then after it's written Viewsonic, it's loading for maybe 30s then it reboots
could you give me a copy of your userdata.img i could try to put it on the package
and the link where you find it
thanks so much
I can post up the file but I would not be until tomorrow. I am at work and have all that on my computer at home.
ok I don't mind
I will wait until tomorrow or after
take your time
thanks so much
Try this. I noticed that userdata.img was not in the root of the file but was in fact_recovery.img. Since I can not post that large of a file, and you have extracted the complete update, copy fact_recovery.img to root of sd card. Rename it update.zip and try to get the tablet to install that. With any luck all should go well. The only items in that file are userdata and userstorage, it should not effect any other parts. If you don't have that file let me know and I can post it up somewhere on the web.
i want to thank you so much for your help
yesterday i send a email to the viewsonic's website and today a guy from ups came to take the tablet
so it goes on repair
i hope they could repair it because it was rooted before the trouble
we keep in touch
Sorry for the late !

I find myself with a big problem. I just got a new Huawei Ascend D1 (not quad) and I am having MAJOR issues. My programing friend decided that he was going to root it for me and add the play store to it. He didn't and now now it won't boot. Near as I can tell, he did something to the system file, based on how gapps seems to be installed. Anyway, I can boot to the splash screen and put it in download mode. I can get to the bootloader, but it fails to allow me to flash the factory ROM back....something about a signature failure. I really need help. I have some knowledge of ADB, but seem to be failing. Can anyone help me?
Any pro. expert help you

I need more detailed description of actions your friend perfomed, and version of your firmware. Also, if you do not afraid of russian language, you can check this thread (to download any attachments, you must be logged in, or it give you 404).

I was able to get some info on what Z did. After rooting the phone with Root Bin4ry v18, he copied the contents of the System folder in the gapps package, using es file explorer, into the system folder of the phone. He then restarted the phone and now it goes straight to bootloader and will not flash the ROM. Unfortunately, I could not tell you what firmware was on it other than the latest one. The one bright spot in all of this is that Z made a copy of original system folder. I think I just need to get that back into the system folder on the phone and I should be all set.

have you try data wipe in recovery ?
if no so check and try wiping :good:
That was the first thing I tried.
I recently rooted my phone and I would like to make a backup before I mess around with a few things. The phone I have is a Galaxy K Zoom. It's running 4.4.2 Kitkat.
My problem is that CWM and TWRP don't seem to work. CWM tells me that my phone is unsupported, and TWRP says it will backup, but when it reboots to create it, I get an error. Is there another recovery app that is available? Or am I stuck having to restore to stock if I soft brick it? I'm ok even using ADB and/or Odin to flash it back to the phone, but I just need to make a recovery to start with.
Also, I have a recovery file that I found in a rooting thread for my phone. Won't that recovery file restore to their phone's settings? How can I make my own? I'm sort of a noob at this, so sorry for asking.
Thanks in advance and I really hope I get get some direction here. I'm more than willing to read through threads, I just don't know if I'm searching for the right terms. I noticed that there have been some posts on this before and there were no replies. Hopefully I can get one!
