Maybe this is part whining and part frustration, but why the delay by HTC in releasing the WiFi only version of Honeycomb? It seems from the reviews and trade information I've read, many more WiFi only units were sold than either GSM or CDMA models. At least it seems we won't be last, as GSM users are still wondering if they even will get an upgrade, and according to HTC we are "coming soon" (caveat - we were gooing to upgraded "soon" on original release LAST MAY).
Does anyone have any insight into the whys and wherefores?
From my experience Europe models tend to be on a swifter upgrade cycle. This was the case with the galaxy s serries from Samsung and appears to be the case here. I do not know why though.

I think it's because of the reason you said, less units sold in that market. Easier to roll it out to a smaller number of individuals initially and track the issues accordingly. From there they can proceed to larger markets or pull the plug if there's any show stopping issues. A lot companies do this, let the public be the beta testers.

That's a flawed assumption. Europe is the largest market globally ( majority GSM models, though there are Wifi only models also )

I was talking about wifi vs other models. I too heard that wifi models sold better. Don't think I mentioned Europe. By Markets I was referring to products segments. But as you mentioned, unless your in the HTC strategy loop its all an assumption.

Don't need to have anything to do with HTC to know that. There are lots of other ways to gather information on what is out there.
For example assuming similar behavior of honeycomb upgrades and percentages of users using custom software in each market segment, there are approximately 3:1 GSM to Wifi flyers out there. Now I don't believe that is the case, using previous knowledge about user behaviors the ratio is more like something like 1.5-1.8 times the number because certain of the markets I am seeing downloads coming from for GSM downloads have extremely high ratios of users that customize to get around various network situations. Note I don't track users in any way, the only metrics I have are how many times a file was downloaded from each country.
Taking the US market in isolation then the fact is that Wifi was by far the biggest seller. The sample size is currently about 10,000 samples.

No problem. I actually hit submit accidentally the first time.
If you're interested in US numbers, I obviously have no figures for the view but in terms of Flyers it's about 98% Wifi 2% 3G, but the 3G sample size is not large enough to be statistically significant and the ratios would be skewed anyway because it is such a small market segment there are likely to be a much higher percentage of customizers, I would actually estimate 99+ % of Wifi.

Anyway side-tacking aside. I imagine that the real reason is GSM/UMTS operator pressure. There are no operators of any value selling the Wifi Flyer. In order to complete QA and release to operators HTC have to do testing/release of a vanilla HC ROM, which they can then release ( Europe being the largest operator market comes first). Now since the localization is the same for Wifi models it is possible that European Wifi models will be next, US models and other regional models need additional localization so may take longer.

Note that statement was for US market only.
I'm guessing the 3G capable Flyers got the upgrade first since HTC has more experience with phones and porting to a 3G tablet requires less editing/deleting of features than the WiFi version will. Nothing iritates me more than the WiFi-only android media players that still have cell options (with no cell hardware) in the system settings.

I think this is the most likely reason, or close to it. Working for a large tech company myself, we test new updates in a single market to broaden our tests. Beta testing is good, but the sampling is still too small, using a good sized market that is still only a relatively small part of your customer base reveals a lot of issues when the customers start complaining.

That's the way for most products release to a small market first. I do that all the time in my work too, however the telecoms space is a bit different with future carrier phone deals etc to think about, it's often most powerful operators first.

I apologize for my lack of clarity. My response was meant to back your theory up as well. I just meant that it is likely testing purposes that not everyone is receiving the update yet, but as to the larger gsm Europe market, I am sure you are right.
I understood, I was just further clarifying why it's not always the smallest market but you're right, even if it was the same rom everywhere it would probably be geographically specific in terms of release both for testing and to avoid overloading the download servers.

I have been following the forum since I got this beast.
Personally I have had a very pleasant Windows Phone experience using Titan. However in last few days the negative feedback threads have increased in number. Presuming that number of end users is increasing, the amount of threads/feedback would have increased anyway. But then does it mean that majority of users are regretting buying this beast? - I am not.
However after looking at few threads, I've noticed that majority of issues with Titan are to those owners who are on AT&T. Could it be carrier modifications in the USA? Is Titan available on any other network in the US? Anyone have feedback?
Most Europe based users have not give much input in those problem threads, so am assuming it's just AT&T handsets that go weird.
But it will help if we guessed a rough number of Titans and their providers/sellers.
Not sure what a poll of owners will show you without correlating it to how happy they are. I am on AT&T and am quite happy - other than WIFI being a little over sensative. If I did not turn off the sound enhancements, I think I would be very unhappy.
I am on at&t with the titan and have no issue with it. Its been an amazing phone, best i have ever had.
AT&T here, other than my disappointment at "4G", everything is fine. Most notably, I don't have any signal issues while holding the phone, I ran several tests with the app Bandwidth
Astute observation. As another poster said on another thread, we drooled over the Titan so much that there had to be a little bit of let down.
I tried to balance my likes and dislikes in another thread, but my bottom line is that the good still outweighs the bad, and much of the bad is software, not hardware, so might be fixed in the future.
I would agree that, yes, the Titan is the best phone I've ever owned, period.
All that said, I just picked up my wife's Focus not ten minutes ago, and I really miss its form factor, weight and saturation.
Thanks for voting guys!
The only reason I din't correlate it to happy or not happy was because it will be too relative an idea of happiness. e.g. I might be happy even with those wifi issues, purely because I am with a network provider that gives me unlimited internet and never use wifi!
However, it is definitely a good idea to have a poll correlating experiences with geographical purchases.
By the looks of just initial 9 votes it looks like either way the views are from AT&T users majorly - happy or unhappy ones. I am just a little inclined to believe AT&T modifications could be at the root of all these(?)
Can someone let us know if on WP AT&T puts it's own bloatware like on Android? Or is bloatware additions just restricted to manufacturers and not network providers?
I know here in the UK Orange is nasty and very notorious in terms of modifying any OS to an extent by their useless bloatware. But am not very sure about AT&T, however would be good to add to my knowledge

They install a couple AT&T specific apps, but you can uninstall them. Other than that, it is as stock of a rom as you can get. No bloatware.
I had all the att stuff off ,except for the Myatt app, within an hour of getting and activating my Titan. Love it, only hiccups so far are getting my old word, excel docs off my old Fuze- not all of them are docx format. Hope the next update includes the ability to mms with gif and audio files. I have fun just turning it on and flipping screens smooth and bright.
Edit to the office docs: had to reset the office hub on the phone, no problems now reading earlier versions of office and can edit newer versions.

Haha exactly my feeling! turning on and flipping screens gives me so much of satisfaction!
Now that we know ATT bloatware is nearly zero, I am struggling to figure out how come so many ATT users have dodgy titans that need to be replaced within one week. Again not 'so many' probably 5-6 that might be reported out here in the forum.
My Titan after 7740 update has worked so much flawlessly and everyday I keep discovering new apps that never imagined to exist on my old Android phone! This WP Titan is a treat to my eyes!

me too,the phone is just great. No problem so far.
Well for one thing us AT&T users are running older software on our Titans than the rest of the world because AT&T sucks.
Unbranded Titan UK, No issues, Perfectly happy and hope it stays that way.
UK
Unbranded UK on orange no problems so far, battery lasting much better than i hoped slight issues with the radio and wifi , not had any screen lack of response as metioned in other forums, last phone was HD2 running 'everything'.
This phone is the only upgrade i could go for after the HD2. Sadly just lurking in hope of the 'custom ROM' i know the geniuses here will eventualy produce
After putting WP7 on my HD2 I decided to get myself a Titan until something better comes along here is Australia.
So I got myself a AT&T branded unit off ebay, SIM unlocked it using htcimeiunlock.com (which took all of a couple of minutes) after AT&T customer serice told me I couldn't unluock it and I'm now a happy camper on the Telstra NextG network here in Oz wiht my Titan.
I am seeing 3G/WiFi issues like others but other than that the unit is going well.
Oh I also got the Mugen Power 1950mAh battery, which I can run my Titan for almost 2 days, with bluetooth and often WiFi on as well.
Now if only we can get a custom unlocked ROM the world would be perfect

In an attempt to distance themselves from the increasingly volatile Carrier IQ situation, we’ve been told that Sprint has ordered that all of their hardware partners remove the Carrier IQ software from Sprint devices as soon as possible.
This comes after a number of dramatic turns over the past few weeks. During that time Carrier IQ was called a lot of things, from a harmless mobile intelligence company to a vicious rootkit designed to steal our personal data and sell it to the ne’er-do-wells. In my opinion, Carrier IQ is a company that provides a service that benefits everyone with a cellphone by giving information to the carriers about when their network has problems that affects our service. Unfortunately, this software was installed in such a manner that, when discovered, there was a significant panic. This is understandable because the software was forced onto unsuspecting users with no real oversight to speak of.
That panic was made worse when the company responded by trying to silence the person who discovered the software, instead of trying to explain what was actually happening. So here we sit, a month away from a Senate hearing on whether or not Carrier IQ is doing anything illegal, on top of a barrage of lawsuits against all of the companies involved.
Sources at HTC have told us that, as a result of the lawsuits targeting Carrier IQ, Sprint, and other CIQ-using OEMs, Sprint has asked all of their partners to get rid of Carrier IQ. Starting with the high-volume and high-profile devices on the network, each of the OEM’s has been asked to quickly release binaries that do not contain Carrier IQ so that over-the-air updates can be pushed to those devices as quickly as possible. The eventual plan is to remove Carrier IQ from all of the devices on Sprint’s network.
This is being done as soon as possible and, according to our source at HTC, anyone who is working with Sprint in testing labs have even had their vacation time over the holidays seriously restricted. No official rollout plan for these updates has been devised, but it has been made clear to everyone involved that this change needs to happen soon. I would assume that we will see updates for devices including the iPhone, HTC Evo 3D, and the Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch before 2012.
At this time, Carrier IQ, Samsung, and Apple all refused to comment on any developments in this matter.
Some may view this as a classic “too little, too late” situation. Sprint waited until there were lawsuits to start removing Carrier IQ from their network, where previously they had been defending their use of the mobile intelligence service. This could possibly even be seen as an admission of guilt, as them removing the software in an attempt to make amends for what they have been caught doing.
Even so, Sprint could have just as easily made a public statement announcing that they were turning off the servers that collected the information, pending the results of the trial and the Senate inquiry. At that point a simple test from any of the security researchers that have gotten involved would confirm Sprint’s cancellation of CIQ and they wouldn’t have to involve every manufacturer on their network.

Nuff said!!!
Another victory!!!! TrevE is forever my hero!
While this is nice and all the article seems to be lacking some knowledge in itself on some things. mainly the fact it included iPhone in the list of devices that would be getting updates. I'm pretty sure Apple commented on this long ago stating they do not use CarrierIQ in their devices anymore at all.
And I can't really see Sprint able to force Apple to load it on the device either...

I just had to laugh I mean Sprints network already sucks how could it possibly get worse. CarrierIQ is not going to fix 4G or even poor 3G speeds due to network congestion. They know they have a problem doubt they need an app to confirm it.

I understand that it's probably used to make phones and services better, but they should at least give you a disclaimer, an opt out option, and an explanation of what CIQ does and maybe then so many people wouldn't be angry at CIQ.
I think the *****ing and complaining is like he said...the fact they covered it up, tried to silence someone. Not that its probably bad software but bad business ethics. Agreed?

CIQ might have done the right thing collecting error logs on the phone to troubleshoot. But installing it on devices without user permission or any kind of disclosure of the software being install is just "unethical".
P.S. the reason why they are being sued was due to unethical practices.

That's because by choosing the bank you opt into that, and go in knowing that they can track your money. And for the record they don't know what you bought, just that you spent so much money here and so much money there. The cc from the bank gets an amount taken not an itemization of funds spent per transaction. CIQ was added without knowledge, why can't you grasp the differences?

First of all I never said anything about personal info. I don't like how it was forced onto us without control. Second, just because they say (AFTER they were found out about) that their software does do anything with personal data doesn't mean it's true. The US Gov said there were weapons of mass destruction and we should go to war, there wasn't and we were there for oil only. Don't believe something especially when the company has their back against the wall trying to fish their way out.

Iraq war is a great analogy for Carrier IQ....
I'm quite puzzled by Motorola's lack of vision in unifying apps compatibility across it's range.
The fact that Xoom apps don't work outside of the US on MZ60x 's is just plain rude considering it has nothing to do with carrier/location/hardware limitations.
The Razr/Bionic/Atrix 2 have some great apps and should be available to all.
Something that intrigues me are both the SmartActions and MOTOCHAT.
A possible rival to RIM'S BBM should be a major deal and available on ALL MOTOs (along with motoprint, blur, etc).
As us outside the US are given almost no heed, I was wondering if any kind and enterprising souls could post all Motorola Mobility apks here.
Thanks for listening.

It's so they can produce incremental hardware upgrades while implementing in-demand software on each release, hence justifying (to themselves anyways) for overcharging consumers.

I've looked into porting SmartActions a few times and each time it just took me deeper and deeper into the Razr system only to end with bootloops. I really don't understand why we have 2.3.6 builds but they don't have the new Blur or SAs. I think it comes down to a lack interest by Moto. I kind of feel like our 2.3.5 and 2.3.6 builds were done built some employees free time, or while they were supposed to be doing something else.
That said, I'm very doubtful we'll see ICS. (Please don't turn this into an ICS thread)
I'll undoubtedly keep trying to get the new new Blur and SAs ported to our device, but that's probably because I crave disappointment.

Nottach, I'm highly programming illiterate,so I highly value any effort done by people like you.
It's sad that a device like the Atrix (with it's very current hardware) is now treated like a naughty stepchild despite it's flagship status 5 months ago and CES heroics.
Even the latest Kal-el SoC has just 1GB of RAM despite the quad cores, so even the most processor intensive apps should be covered.
And that's why Apple does so well.
Google/carriers/manufacturers need to keep promises and buck up.
Sent from my MB860 using xda premium
And this is another thing that disheartens me. There's no doubt that Motorola does have some "bright" developers/engineers working for them but it seems that their main goal is to fragment their own ecosystem in an effort to persuade people into upgrading their devices at a higher rate while trying to confine you into their structure. Which can be said for pretty much anyone else like Apple and Microsoft but I feel Motorola does it more blatantly to the point where its more detrimental to the consumer rather than an inconvenience.

I'll undoubtedly keep trying to get the new new Blur and SAs ported to our device, but that's probably because I crave disappointment.

I'm starting to believe that Moto is merely a trend setter in this department. Samsung and HTC products refresh so quickly in Asia that 6 months seem to be the upgrade cycle (in a region where carriers offer no subsidies).
On a sidenote, how do I post apps via mobile/xda premium on threads? I want to start the ball rolling!

Here are a few Moto-apps (free,Android Market, modified for ALL DEVICES)
that may not be available to all countries.
The MOTOprint app is an earlier, free version.
I had nothing to do with these, just publicly available.
vlingo was not available outside the US.
Other apps not on worldwide Atrix's (MB/ME860) were Zumocast(!!!),
MotoLounge(Australia only) and Moto PIM sync.
Even the Webtop app is different!
As, usual,I had nothing to do with this attached app, just publicly available.
I apologize if I've derailed the point of your thread, sometimes I get all "99%" without realizing it. This is definitely a good topic and I hope more people look into making these apps/services cross-compatible.

No worries, i've been guilty of that in the past as well.
I've posted some cross-compatible apks for those who may not have 'em/
flashed their mobiles.
Here's a Zumocast that works well with my Archos 70S and Motorola MB511
Flipout and A855 Milestone/Droid.
Hhhmmm...
it now states that Motochat v01.03 is only supported by devices
with Android 2.3.7 (rather than 2.3 and above) to 3.2;since 2nd Jan 2012.
Is it impossible to make it work with 2.3.4 and above?
I also have some hilarious screens regarding the Atrix's "compatibilty" with Atrix-specific Apps. Granted apps are for the US version, but the eco-system should
allow us to download them anyway. Whether or not they work is up to us. (ala
International-market Droids, the A853 and XT720)
The "Certificate Updater" was really only an issue with the 4.1.83 build that had to do with the Atrix not being able to access mobile banking sites, and I think it was an US-only issue. That was still Froyo too. It has since been fixed with subsequent releases.

Understood, but Motorola Mobility have an awesome track record of incompatibility issues with their world-market devices; such as Android Market stating that the Droid-Flashlight app (ooh!) won't work with the Milestone A853 or even better,Moto-Pack FOR TABLETS not working with the MZ601/604.
It doesn't recognize overseas devices for the most part.
My previous phone, the MB511 was detected as a Defy MB525 for 2 months
before it said "Flipout" once market hit 2.2.7.
UK Market Atrix were only updated to 2.3.4 last week, and also had mobile-
banking bloatware courtesy of Orange.
Chinese "Shop4apps" specific apps i get, but this is too much.
Hence the thread, a way to unify all MB860/ME860 users.
I understand and I totally agree. You can ask anyone that knows me, I'm usually the first one in line if someone is throwing a "Motorola-Bashing" party.
It's quite frustrating and I have my theories, but they are usually border-line conspiracy theories. All in all, I feel there needs to be more petitions brought out against Motorola and other companies that decide to undertake these business practices and marketing that are disadvantageous to the end user.
We are the 99%! (sorry, got carried away again)
But from the other end of the spectrum, consumers need to take the time to educate themselves on products and whether there is going to be a mutual ascension in compatibility and, thus, make better purchasing decisions that would pressure companies into providing a more consistent platform.
EDIT: To elaborate even further, HTC did well being consistent (profits soared) with Sense until they got carried away and tried to maximize even further with incremental (and ultimately fragmented) developments in their lineup and now they are starting to come down to earth. Now Samsung is on top with their Galaxy "S" line but now I see them trying to diversify their lineup with "M" and "W", etc etc, series and I see them flattening out soon.

I don't like that rich location app. events and information do not seem up to date in my area.
Motochat (beta) seems to be motorola's BBM rival. Weirdly only works on 2.3.7. I would expect something this crucial to be available even on the motokey social ex118!
Thanks regarding the Rich Location app.

Motorola RICH LOCATION apk
....and here's the RICH LOCATION app.
"Garbage" according to some, but i think it's incredibly useful and
forward thinking.
It uses your phone's location services to determine where you are IN ANY CITY
and lists services/promotions/places of interest within a predetermined radius.
Extra services include Yelp! plus the usual listed businesses.
Well done to the devs.
By the way: the Rich Location app has been renamed to Social Location. You may find it under this new name on the Atrix 4G. There are some countries that this app will not come installed by default, though. As you mentioned that you used Rich Location in the past, I assume that the app is available in your area.
With probable hardware variances between Primes and different software, settings, etc. it strikes me that Asus could really benefit from having a comprehensive data set gathered from all of our tablets which logs detailed system information, including the causes of crashes.
At present, this information is patchy, anecdotal and posted randomly throughout different threads on this forum. If Asus released a tool we could all install, which monitored battery usage, CPU behaviour, crash logs, etc. and which fed this info back to a central Asus database, along with serial numbers & SW versions, they could very quickly build a coherent data set which might reveal patterns as to what is causing all of these problems. This would surely help them build a better fix which would be testable against various configurations on lots of different Primes before release into the wider world.
Good idea.

This is done in the corporate world with large networks and would work pretty well. The information that can be sent to Asus would be invaluable and be only text so it would be very small information. Of course voluntary basis, and I would.
They obviously know the issue with it it is all the back plate why else would all their new tablets have plastic?? They now have to change dock colors for the 700t

Im no engineer, but I'm pretty sure the backplate isn't causing reboots, or battery drain, or Sleep of Death.(Current, REAL issues) Infact I would say the only thing the backplate really interferes with is GPS, and partially WiFi.
I think a product wide diagnostic reporting App would be the fastest way for Asus to get to the bottom of this, and more importantly some solid statistics into a working to not working ratio of these devices. (I'd be afraid if they got all their stats from XDA polls)
With all the varying issues that people seem to have, and so many variables I'm surprised they havent done this already.
Knowing Asus they will just keep playing guess and check with frimware updates until they get /most/ of the primes working.
Great Idea!

The new tf-700 backplate isn't plastic. Its using the same metal backplate as prime except for a lil plastic strip across the top. Until we see hard data n tests of wireless on new model, there's no telling how it'll perform. Even with plastic strip metal could still be a factor. We won't know for sure till tech sites review it n test it.
Is there anything specifically wrong with 'adb bugreport' ?
Funny how everyone screams when they find out there is some kind of app/data tracker on devices and here is a thread where people are asking for it. WTH?!

Lol
Without really stopping to think, I ran my CarrierIQ remover when I first got the tablet. Cuz of all those carriers carrying it
However, we're not asking they do this 24/7 and without our permission, but more for a downloadable and uninstallable app which we could use as needed. But yeah, definitely don't want them using CarrierIQ for this as I would just end up removing/disabling it and we'd be in the same place (for me at least) lol

Distinguished leaders marketing HTC,
We call out to date show you our dissatisfaction your decision not to propose to the SHIFT ICS (where possibly another) Obviously your ad had the effect of a Treason in the world to the owners of Tablet Flyer famous who have seen this act deliberate killing programmed from HTC.
Indeed, the Flyer is your only so far shelf and it will not be entitled to benefit from last improvements in google.
We do not understand your approach knowing that this product has one year old! From a customer relations standpoint, it is totally outrageous.
There may be a technical problem because the Developers are most certainly the height to solve some technical problems. If it turns out that this is a business decision, we think this is a huge mistake and that it wrong in the sense of logic, why private that a better enchant owners.
Other products have also seen a change radical from you.
We ask you to please rethink your decision on the judgment of the SHIFT shelf Flyer because it is your duty as provider mobile phone to offer the best services and follow-up to these clients to be missed manner most who follow you from the beginning.
The angry customers! ...

People...HTC is not obligated to provide us anything besides basic hardware/software support. They are not required to give us a upgrade, heck they aren't even required to give us bugfixes. When you buy a tablet or phone you are buying it with the current software load, meaning you need to make sure you are happy with what it runs and how it runs. Can we PLEASE stop beating this horse?

Hello,
It's your perspective and you've made, it is!
This is not the generality of people who think that, already after just seven months of existence, it simply removes purtement and the evolution of the tablet, this is not normal.
They are not obliged to provide it to us for free, okay, at least that we are proposing an alternative to évolution.
Knowing that the products were sold frozen and for the typical person, not necessarily easy to change OS as two shirts!
If you can afford to buy every two weeks, good for you and too bad for us ...

@thewadegeek:
As far as I recall, there is some kind of agreement between Google and the main manufacturers to give proper support/updates for products for at least 18 months after its initial release.
Now, as the HTC Flyer has been released < the mentioned 18 months I expect HTC to honor that agreement.
And please do not forget that the HC update was rubish and should not be called an update but a downgrade (as some features do not work (as well) as they did before).
If you would own a car, and for some reason they upgraded some kind of software @ the garage which resulted in non functioning blinkers/signal lights and you had to put your hand out of the the window everytime you are about to switch lanes or make a turn in order to warn the other drivers about your actions, would you accept that? I WANT MY HARDWARE BUTTONS BACK!!!
Everyone is free to make his voice heard and if you don't like topics like this one, than please .. by all means .. stay out.

It's SUPPORT not upgrade, and in no way does SUPPORT entail a UPGRADE.

First off I LIKED the upgrade, so you can't make a blanket statement calling it rubbish. The pen support with Honeycomb is pretty slick and I enjoy it. Second that's not a valid comparison, in that case they removed REQUIRED functionality, in this case they just replaced it with something else. And if you want your hardware buttons back then downgrade, or install Lee's Honeycomb. Viola. Your last statement is TOTALLY contradictory friend, first you says we can all make our voice heard, and then you tell me to stay out. Also the purpose of a forum is for discussion, you all seem to just want people to agree with you. I'm just getting tired with everyone starting a new petition or "HTC sucks" thread. If you feel betrayed then deal with it, HTC has done nothing legally wrong so everyone is stuck.

Lol. ( its just Google translate)
To all:
Something is not happening right. We are arguing on wrong issues. Some points I noticed and I would like to emphasise upon are:
1. Yeah they gave us honeycomb. But its not perfect. Chiefly the internet browsing experience. Internet is the soul of computers, tablets, smart phones, ipads etc. and we need a solid browser to experience it, which is not there. It leaves a lot to be desired considering:
a. Flyer has 1gb ram, a powerful processor, 1 GB system ROM, Enough Internal Memory
b. Initially it was sold for exorbitant price (700$+, though mine 32 gb, 3g cost $390)
c. It was told by Google about an year back that all devices should be supported till 18 months.
Yeah, flyer has beautiful features like pen, hd cams, srs, mhl out, brilliant screen, top battery. But it lacks a solid browsing experience. In my view what the majority of us want is a solid browsing experience. Now that comes with a HC update or ICS update will not matter to me.
Many people are talking of broken GPS. If its really broken, then its HTC's duty to repair it, not the developers'. If its not broken, we should forget about this issue. Now if someone says it requires just a change in config file to repair it, I agree to it but this small repair forces you to root and risk bricking.
On another note of doctorlirio campaign: he should not have raised the issue of GSM calls with HTC. HTC didn't give us calling functionality, xda did.
So, why we are always wanting better? Because it has become our need and habit to stay ahead and overcome the weaknesses of our devices. We can't stand any weakness in our devices. And for me, a solid browsing experience is my primary need where my flyer doesn't satisfy me fully. Whether its HTC or developers, we always want better for our devices.
( though opera mobile works a little better in browsing, but sometimes ( may be often) it also fails to function perfectly on high load web pages.)
Lastly, I feel that, its a little too late now for us to keep chasing HTC. ( though HTC is to blame for a weak internet browsing experience and those who paid exorbitant sums for buying this are even more right in blaming htc)

I came to that conclusion today about Web browsing actually. I wanted something that would be as useful as a laptop and Web browsing has never been stellar on it. And the best Android Web browser isn't available on it!
Senseless helps with browsing big time but unfortunately I still find myself grabbing the laptop and getting frustrated with the browser when I need to get something done.
As for everything else its perfect but the one thing I bought it for is its greatest weakness. I didn't buy it expecting any update, but I was hoping we'd get ics to fix the Web browsing. Web browsing is fully gpu accelerated in ics and my phone whether I'm running chrome or the stock htc browser is pc quality. The flyer is more akin to my old captivate.
Firefox might be the answer if they ever optimize it for tablets
