I was able to have "transparent curtains" on my old WinMo device, I was wondering if the same is possible with my Droid X2 running 2.3.4 GB?
As you can see, the bottom bar is transparent. I would love the top bar to match it, if so, how?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Interesting..
Just from guessing I think it can also, but I have no idea what to do with it. I am looking for more of a Newbie solution without flashing a new ROM, something like an .apk, or a .zip that can be applied at boot or in bootstrap, easily applied with instructions.
(I am an old fart who loves his first Android device)
If you send me a copy of your systemui.apk and your framework-res.apk I can make it for you. The result will be a flashable zip file that you can flash just like anything else.
Sent from my DROID X2 using xda premium
Where are they located? I have a Droid X2, stock 2.3.4 GB
System ui is found in /system/apps/ and framework-res is found within /system/framework/ you have to be deodexed in order for this to work.
Sent from my DROID X2 using xda premium
I do not think that I am, since the ROM is stock except for being rooted. How do I go about deodexing those two files?
Sorry for the lenghth between responses. Just got home from the hospital today with a new baby boy. There may be a deodexed 2.3.4 lying around the dev section somewhere if there is you most likely will just have to flash it.

Here you go:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1295950
This is 2.3.4 stock deodexed and zip aligned. You may have to debloat this again if you already have.
I would do a factory reset, flash this, make a nandroid backup. I will try to get that status bar as transparent as possible. Let me know if you would like a different text color as well.
Edit: Ok here it is. Flash the zip from the link above. And I have attached your transparent status bar. Enjoy! Let me know that it works.

y0himba - Looks like CadenH has you covered here but wanted to interject something. One of the flashable zips for the 2.3.4 pulldown toggles will replace the stock 2.3.4 SystemUI.apk with a dodexed SystemUI.apk. Rather than flashing an entire deodex'd system you could flash that file then apply CadenH's UOT file.
I know that the attachment says it's for pulldown toggles but what this part 1 file really does is deletes the SystemUI.apk and SystemUI.odex, then replaces it with a deodex version of the stock SystemUI.apk. The zip then wipes dalvik cache. So if you do flash this expect an extra minute or two on your next re-boot.
CadenH - congrats of your baby boy. I have two boys of my own and having the time of my life!
A few questions: I am going to flash the zipaligned and deodexed 2.3.4, I know how to remove my Dalvik cache, what is the method for wiping my cache? Also, this should just flash right over my current 2.3.4 without losing all my apps correct? How about V6 supercharger, Re-apply? Should I use SBF to flash this? Will I need to re-root?
Once I have flashed the deodexed and zipaligned 2.3.4, how do I apply the UOT? I have bootstrap installed, can I use it for this?
I am sorry to be so new to this, and very thankful for any help.
Edit: Bootstrap is incredible! EASILY cleared cache and Dalvik cache, then applied the deodexed/zip aligned 2.3.4, then wiped Dalvik cache and cache again, then applied the UOT. the application worked like a charm, however, here is my top bar now:
It appears that text is not being removed....nor are the status icons. Everything that was displayed up there, stayed there.
Oh well, just re-applied the Stock deodexed/zip aligned again....
That was completely un expected. Did you want the text up there or no? Also was it just the picture or was everything really "blurred?"

I just want the blue background to be transparent. Everything else should operate as normal...I have no idea why they don't build this in, that background is just plain ugly and takes away from the home screen.
No offense to all that are helping you, but I would say if you are going to do all this flashing in the first place, you might as well just flash a ROM onto your phone. Most ROMS make the top bar black. Or if you can find one, you can try to just flash a theme for the stock ROM. I think there are some out there but I cant think of any off the top of my head.
And I agree with you. That top bar and pull down menu is ugly. I dont know what they were thinking when they designed that. When I first got my phone, I tried to change it but messed up my phone and had to SBF. I then just flashed a ROM.
---------- Post added at 05:48 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:37 PM ----------
Or you can look into this:
http://uot.dakra.lt/
I know what mistake I made. Let me retry for you. I would agree that a rom would make your phone run better than deodexed stock. In case you want to remain on the stock rom I will upload the new flashable zip soon.
Edit: Here are the new uploads. One is plain stock w/ transparent status bar, the other is the same but with the pulldown toggles hedwig posted earlier if you are interested in them.
I installed Eclipse. I got pissed and just did it. It partially fixed my Android Market app, but I have lost so many paid apps that I cannot remember, and the market pages are blank after the 'G' section.
It's a known issue. I wish I could remember all the apps I had.
Shouldn't they have attached to your Google acct? Did you make a backup with titanium backup?

Yea any app you bought should be tied to your goggle account.

I was having the issue where there were no apps listed at all under "My Apps". Got that fixed by installing Eclipse ROM.
However, on the market web site, there are about 12 pages that are blank, so not all of my apps are there, and they are missing in the market app as well.
It is a known issue from what I have found, but Google has yet to fix it after 4 months (3 months for me).
So they are lost because I cannot remember the names of everything I had.

Nice theme. Sent some donation love your way
i've been waiting for this! before i complain, i'd like to thank you, i'm such a huge fan of the stock android interface, the new blur stuff was making my eyes bleed..
is there any way i can exclude this from installing the droid 1 sms/mms app[mms.apk]? i'm using the modified sms app that comes with the epic rom and installing this theme messes seems to break it.
something to note- i used 7zip to browse through the theme zip and noticed a conversations.apk.
the interesting thing is that before installing your theme, the 'text messaging' app[conversations.apk] works.
after installing, i notice that there is an mms.apk. i used root explorer to rename it to .bak and the 'messaging' app that appeared after installing your theme disappeared.
but whenever i open 'text messaging' it just closes. no FC no error, it just closes.
Try reinstalling the conversations to apk by clicking it in root explorer. I got my terminal emulator to work when it was doing the same thing by doing that

Sure, just open the zip file and navigate to /system/app. In there you will want to delete conversations.apk
I actually didn't even notice it was different. I will add the stock conversation.apk later. Thanks for the info

Where did you see mms.apk? If you go to /system/app inside the zip file, there is no mms.apk... It must've came from whatever ROM you're using.

yea i think i may be mixed up. i have to do some testing, i'll report back.
i also noticed that putting this theme on top of the epic rom makes doubles of a couple apps.
for example, now there are two music players. when you try to open either, it asks what you'd like to complete the actoin with, 'com.android.music' or 'com.google.android.music'
i'll compile whatever errors i can find for you and report back

with some slight modifications i got it working flawlessly. i ended up using the theme porter to modify the sms app included in epic's rom to be themed to the stock conversation app included in you rom.
if anyone is interested i'll post it.
I'm assuming this has the Stock D1 icons (the ones in stock android 2.0-2.2)?
Is there any way I can extract those icons and put them in another theme?
you could locate the png, extract it, replace it in the new theme.

I re-coded the Services.jar in /system/framework for Axura JL5. The clock is originally black, which goes against most themes out there. I figured id post the Services.jar file here for anyone interested. THIS WILL ONLY CHANGE THE TIME CLOCK COLOR TO WHITE (top right hand corner of screen), NOTHING ELSE. This is ideal for people who are trying to theme with a black status bar.

i dont know, no one else has reported this issue......off the top of my head, did you do any of these:
1. Did not unzip the attached file before replacing services.jar
2. try to flash through clockwork?
re-read the instructions in the OP and make you followed them EXACTLY. if you did, then it should work flawlessly. If done right, thsi is not a risky mod.
The file that was unzipped somehow got truncated, so it was corrupt when I copied it over. After I restored and tried again it works.
And, I also added that file to the theme zip I use so when I applied it through clockwork it applied this file as well. Is that something that perhaps should be included in themes? <shrug>

well i dont think there is a single theme out there that has a status timeclock as the same color as the statusbar background (unless its intentional, ive seen those, in order to get rid of the clock)
the only reason i did this was because im very anal about my phone and the way it looks. Axura JL5 is the ROM of my choice, but the way i theme it has a black statusbar, so i had to change the color of the clock so i could see it. The original ROM theme had a grey statusbar, so the clock could be seen. That was the choice of Master (the ROMs developer), and we have to respect his themeing choice.
Major Update!
This tool was put together based on some request I saw on the boards, and using different snippets of code and a little know-how.
The latest version of Un-Theme-Me is a comprehensive theme removal tool that will undo any currently available applied themes and revert your Motorola Atrix 4G to an ATT 1.83 Deodexed file system files, stock boot animation, maintain your data and even widgets. FYI, I've only tried this on my phone once. I'm not interested in taking multiple runs at re-creating the whole process. I was running a heavily modified version of GingerBlur 3.1 and used this tool to successfully revert back to a Stock ATT 1.83 state with no issues. I then ran the program again just for good measure.
Download
Stock ATT 1.83 Deodexed Theme Removal Tool - note, this installs 1.83 version files. Verify that you are on ATT version 1.83 in your settings, about phone before using this program. This program may work for other versions in the future.
Your phone will take a REALLY long time to reboot after this is applied. BE PATIENT. The first time I tested this the phone sat on the ATT logo screen that I was halfway through taking off the case to do a battery pull when it started up. Subsequent installs have taken the same amount of time.
To use:
Download the .zip from the link above
Plug your phone into USB - set USB Connection to USB Mass Storage
Place the stock-att-1-8-3.zip file on your SD card
Follow all CWM instructions to eboot to install mode with CWM Recovery
Follow the prompts to install this zip from your SD card
You know the drill, I am not responsible for any "bricking" that may happen to your device. I have only tested it on my phone only.
I RECOMMEND NOT INSTALLING ON A BELL ATRIX.
This program will take your phone back to the stock 1.83 ATT deodexed file system.
Let me reiterate - I have only tested this on MY phone but have been successful in removing all themes I've installed from this site. Thanks and good luck.

You're right and I'll add a disclaimer to the op regarding the version used by this until I can build some kind of version checking into the program. Boot shouldn't be affected.

There were three files replaced when you installed the zip. You would need to push the original copy of the files back to your phone.
Framework-res
SystemUI
And i think
TWframework-res
Do not recall off the top of my head if these are APK files or not, I think so. Also tw may be tzframework
Not sure why, but had some problems after flashing this. Phone booted partially up, but skipped the lock screen. I could see my Widgets trying to load, but screen kept going black. Tried to reboot, but same deal. May have been a CWM problem, not sure (using b3). Restored successfully with Nandroid.
Anyway, will try again later, but I was wondering if you could change the wifi and cell signal bars to blue as well. I hate the grey!
Thanks!

I haven't installed the theme but it does look nice. You're also the first themer (as far as I can remember) for our i717 Notes
I know it's just a beta, but a feature you want to look into is making the slide down bar transparent (I don't know the specific name, but the bar you pull down to show notifications/wifi/bluetooth/etc). I know that's a nice feature on my Nook Color.

You will also need Rosie.apk for the navbar and Idlescreen_Base.apk for the lockscreen shortcut backgrounds depeding on what you are changing. These are in the system/app/ directory of the rom zip.
Open m10 tools, and select Rosie.apk.
Once decompiled, find the Rosie_navbar.m10 file.
Expand the file until you see the options shown in the screenshot below.
On the data circled in red change the opacity from "1" to "0". (you can also change it to any value in-between like 0.5 for half transparent)
Make sure you select the data how it is shown in the screenshot or else other images will disappear!!
Once done with the edits save and m10 tools will repackage Rosie.apk.
Then push the new Rosie.apk to your phone or install via a flashable zip.

This is essentially the same process for the lockscreen shortcut backgrounds.
Open m10 tools again, and select Idlescreen_Base.apk.
Once decompiled, find the Lockscreen_Shortcut.m10 file.
Expand the file until you see the options shown in the screenshot below.
On the data circled in red change the opacity from "1" to "0"
Make sure you select the data how it is shown in the screenshot or else other images will disappear!!

Then push the new apk to your phone or install via a flashable zip.
One incase anything else comes up :fingers-crossed:
Thank you for sharing.
Same to you zhp pilot, you've been pumping out some good stuff!
I don't know if I have something personal against those images  or If its just the fact it looks so much cleaner without them.
Nice discovery
Thanks
With the screen shots this was a real easy mod to apply.
should this work for any htc phone running sense 3.6? i have an evo 3d running the "cool-ics-v10-evoc" rom and when my phone loads i get a black screen with the notification bar at the top. if i put the stock idlescreen_base.apk back in and leave the modded rosie it loads to the lock screen but when i unlock i get the white screen with the htc logo and thats as far as it goes. if someone could please help i would really like to learn how to do this...
did you fix permissions when you replaced the apks?
No I didn't. Sorry. I'm a complete noob to all this. I honestly don't know how to do that yet...

Long press the apk with the file explorer you used, assuming that's what you did. You should see an option for permissions. Make it rw-r--r--. If that's confusing then check the permissions on another apk in the system folder. Just make yours match the existing. If you didn't replace the apk via a file explorer, more info on your method would be helpful.
After making changes to the apk I saved it to my desktop. Opened the rom I was working with and replaced it there while on my computer. Then reflashed the rom to my phone. Made a copy of the rom first in case it didn't work I could easily go back to the working one... Which is what I'm using now.

Oh. Well nevermind the permissions thing then. Doing it that way would have set them correctly.
Do you have any idea what I'm doing wrong? I tried your transparent nav bar from here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1814171
But it didn't do anything for me. Once the phone rebooted the nav bar looked the same as before...

I have experienced some versions of rosie that are very fussy. After m10 edits i have had to decompile and recompile with apktool (no other edits) just to properly compress the m10

That mod only works on the rezound due the updater script. It specifically uses the mount points for the rezound.
The issue may be due tho the fact your are placing a modified apk into the rom zip. The modified one has a broken signature and/or one that doesn't match the other files. When you boot a rom for the first time, the signatures have to match. After the rom boots once, it no longer does sig checks on the system folder. I would suggest placing the modified apk into a flashable zip and flash it after the rom has booted.
Alternatively, you can adb push Rosie.apk to the phone or manually replace the file with a file explorer that has root access.
If it still doesn't work, then the problem is with the apk itself.
Well...didn't get home till late last night, had to be to work early today, so I didn't really get a chance to try everything. I did try to manually replace the apk using root explorer and after doing that and setting permissions right, pressing the home button did nothing. Pressed back button to back out of root explorer and got to a white screen. And that's it... Tried rebooting my phone, same thing, a white screen... Idk if those other options will work but I'll try when I get home today...

no prob, glad you got it working. The only other thing I was gonna toss out there was if you had signed them but i don't think that m10 tools breaks the signature anyways.
