these are tools you can to use to increase ram all apps are the free version.
the motomizer can be used on J.Y.Daddy builds .
the ram manager is very good but you need to go get the pro version free one is worthless
the Ron tootbox is very nice.
vm heaptools is the best I found free.
you to get a system apple remover
things to do to get better ram this is base on running 70 to 80 apps.
1. I removed the following system apps, dsp manager, gmail, talk app, 3d gallery.
2. set ram manager pro to heavy gaming.
3. set vm heaptool to 32.
4. use se taskmanager ONLY USE THE WIGET.
5. In the cm7 settings I only use allow purging of assets.
6. Ron toolbox has memory settings.
If you are using the go launcher skip es taskmanager and use widget to control memory.
I highly recommend you to get the ram manager pro.
any ? pm
feel free and add to this thread.
i do the same but after two days without turning my phone off , my ram go from about 50 to 30 mb , do you knowwhy ? how can i fix it , i have fjfalcon's CM7
You need to read my post all of it and you will not have ram issues.
I will download his build soon.
Feel free to on me.

Waow!! 94mo free!!!!
You re still using ho no??? Not the last the one before if i remember?
Are you using supercharger??? v6 ? v8 ? which settings???
Do i have to use vm heaptools since i m already set my vm to 32 in cyanogen settings
In CM7 settings you re only keeping the purging assets????? Are you sure nothing more is check in the performance menu??? Cause i use to keep SMS/MMS in RAM (i lost some SMS without...). In my perf settings i use: -JIT -16bits transparency -purging of assets -sms/mms in ram -gmaps hack
I don t use launcher in ram cause it make the phone very very slow when using supercharger
What are you using to manage your proc speed??? SetCPU??? Cyanogen settings???? Something else?
Which memory settings are you using in rom toolbox???? Why do we have to run the ram manager and rom toolbox it s not the same memory settings???
I can t understand why you have so much more ram than me the only difference is that i don t have ram manager pro and i keep 3d gallery and gmail...(I also use gowidget memory)
And which settings are you using in motomizer??? the one click pack? Is this working with fjfalcon rom???
Other subject i m asking myself why we don t put all this trick for memory directly on the rom????
Can we put all this in an recovery update??? Or in a nandroid backup?
We have a lot of good rom but there is so many things to do after flashing(to make the rom speedy) that it take so much time for each rom to test...
Maybe if somepeople can make a fresh flash, install a rom and do all that memory stuff before doing a nandroid backup to share.... It will help a lot!!!
edit: and can you share your theme please???? I love your notification icons...
You can't include ram manager pro its not a free apple but I found very easy.
I use see task manager ONLY USE THE WIGET example DO NOT GO INTO ES TASKMANAGER.
System apps I removed,dspmanager,gmail,talk,3dgallery.
I use vm heaptool set at 36.
I use motomizer to set cpu 1gz ves set at 66.
You don't need the Ron toolbox.
In cm7 settings I have only have allow purging of assets checked.
I have the ram manager pro set at hard gaming.
I'm using ho!no! Cm7.1.0-11.10.13-xt720.J.Y.Daddy.zip.
P.S I found the v6 and V-8 super charger worthless for the xt720.

I try motomizer and ram manager pro and i don t know which one cause it but my phone is a lot faster now (i get between 50 and 60free ram)
I will stop using supercharger too cause i don t see many difference (and it force me to flash sbf sometimes...)
So if i understand all you don t use milestone overclock anymore??? I see motomizer can oc too...
And which launcher are you using???? And which theme if you have one?
I use the motomizer for cpu and vest setting the ram manager for ram management and I use live home launcher.
I'm using ics theme with plenty of ram.

FYI after applying the compatibility fix for supercharger in fjfalcon's CM7, I used V6_SuperCharger_for_Android-update9_beta_6.3.sh to select "4. Super UL (Aggressive) {6,8,28,30,35,50 mb}". It seems to work quite well. Free RAM is usually 35-40, but multitasking has been no problem.

Hi,
I'm using the "Balance (more Multitasking)" option in ram manager pro: I'm running j.y.daddy's Ice and Fire, and it looks like it frees up more memory than "hard gaming" (which, moreover, makes some processes restart from time to time).
The ram manager will not make you reboot at least that's I think your talking about.
What are you overclocked and vessel set at and these build are to reboot once in while.
I game a lot but I like hard game setting the most.
Sent from my XT720 using XDA Premium App
The other options are set exactly as yours (OC at 1Ghz, VM heap at 36,...).
I'm just telling that according to what I experienced so far, Balanced (more multitasking) allows me to have more free memory than Hard Gaming and prevents some processes from being restarted, which is better for the battery life...but that's just a personal opinion I wanted to share
What ever works for you I like heavy gaming because I game a lot.
This is a must have app for the cry.

Yes low on ram. Don't use ram manager. It's waste. Don't use so many apps like replacing dialer with go dialer. It all consumes ram.

You can also try this tweak from build.prop tweak that you can see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1367082
You have to write this code after the last code's line:
ro.HOME_APP_ADJ=1
After this reboot the phone.
On my sangingerace*sl2 this works. But make a nandroid backup first.
it's finally over!! i used ram manager pro and ticked no close launcher and it's fine so far (odd i ticked this option the last time )

Improves phone's RAM.
You can set it to have more or less free RAM, so you can run apps, that need much RAM(games) or have more apps open at one time(multitasking) or just improve phone's speed.
It changes the minfree amounts, that is when Android starts killing apps to free up RAM.

Our devices have very little memory. So I would recommend a modification in OOM(out of memory) values.
Ways to do that are many..
I ve been using ram manager.
But if you really want to understand the script you should really read carefully the topic regarding the v6 supercharger...

Thanks for answering. So, it seems im not gonna try supercharger. The post is quite long and hard to understand for me.
Ill take a look at ram manager
Sent from my U20i using XDA
I did try supercharger, didnt work well, tried OOM, die hard laucher. Background music always used to stutter, apps took longer to load. This script is actually not designed for our phone per se, so i would recommend stock settings. Frankly, I find Prime HD to be the best for the Mini pro with good multitasking and smooth UI.
P.S: I have also allotted a swap partition for the system and a ext partition for my apps. It does make a difference.

But i also want the battery..

don't think 250 is possible with ICS on 512MB.
some roms claim 200, like Zperience or Aroma? but i haven't tried can't confirm. i think anything over 100mb free after finishing boot is good.
the way Android uses RAM though this is maybe misleading, free RAM by itself isn't really useful, but i know what you mean..

actually i just noticed on a brand new phone with sony official .54 ics installed, nothing removed:
200mb free RAM!
on first boot was 210mb, now is around 185mb on 3rd boot,
weird because i know after setting up apps and accounts etc, AND using Speedy Droid to remove lots of sony stuff, she had only about 50MB free, after a fresh boot. not sure why i have so much more now.

i know.
this phone is slow if you run many complex apps because 512MB is not enough for ICS (google target was 1GB).
free RAM after startup is still a rough guide to how much memory the base ROM is using. do you have a better suggestion?
the comment about 200mb on stock was because many 3rd party roms seem to think they've acheived something when they show 200mb free. i found this is almost same as stock.
I was answering OPs question: no, probably no fully functional ROM gives 250MB free after startup, but the stock .54 can give 200 ish before you install, configure or run anything. then you'll find you have very little free and things tend to get laggy.
if OP posted more specficially about his problem maybe someone can help further..

UPDATED : 5th October 2013
Welcome to the Viper's thread on performance and battery life !
On topic : As you all know, no matter what ROM you use, no matter what the kernel is, you always seem to find a compromise for performance over battery life. If you are a guy that roams around with the charger after every 4-5 hours, and expect both performance as well as battery life, THIS THREAD IS FOR YOU !!
We'll start with the most basic settings for this and then go through under clocking etc. Let's get started !
Basic settings to have better battery life & performance :
Under the settings menu, do the followings :
1) Accounts & sync - untick background data and auto-sync.
2) Privacy - untick backup & restore.
3) Location & security - untick all.
4) Sound- Disable haptic feedback.
5) Display - Set low screen brightness, select no window animations, disable auto-rotation if you don't use landscape mode much/at all .
6) Applications- Development--> Untick usb debugging & untick allow mock locations.
7) Mobile networks : Tick use 2G only if you don't want to lose battery soon while browsing.
Some recommendations :
1) Do not use task killers frequently. Kill the tasks once. If not much memory is revived, reboot your device. I recommend rebooting your device atleast twice a day for lag free, better performance .
2) Once your battery gets as low as 15 to 20%, charge for 3 hours without a break.
3) Many roms come with applications that you never use. Either delete them using a root explorer if you never use them or just go to Settings --> Applications --> Manage applications ---> select the app you don't use --> force stop, in case you want to use those apps in the future .
4) Find the lighter alternatives for the heavy apps you use. For example, facebook touch over facebook for android.
5) If you're on cm7, under the cyanogenmod settings--> performance --> Enable 16 bit transparency, untick surface dithering, enable purging of assets, set zram compression to 26% under memory management for increased virtual capacity ( These options are available on CM10.1 too ) .
6) If you're on cm10.1, under the developer options, reduce window scale animations to zero, limit background processes as per your need to have a better battery life and more free RAM.
Thanks to brewy for making me assimilate the vitality of force stopping an unused app
7) Do not theme your launcher heavily. Use only those widgets that are needed. Heavy theming consumes more RAM, consequently, low battery.
Scripts that can be used:
1) Adrenaline engine : Included in most of the ROMs
Thread link : Here
Thanks to Imbawind .
2) Full GPU rendering : To reduce the CPU load & force the phone to use GPU for enhanced graphics. Thanks slaid
Thread link : Here
=-Or-=
If you are on cm10.1, under the developer options, you can enable the gpu rendering without the need of any script.
3) Adrenaline boost : It is a great script if you want just that hint of a boost for gaming.
Thread link : Here
Thanks to Imbawind again
4) Battery bar mod script : You have to draw your own results after flashing the script.
Thread link : Here
Thanks to : tazlooney89
5) Project silk : Another nice script for your overall performance & battery starvation.
Thread link : Here
Thanks to : Pulsedroid
6) Fly on mod : Another script mostly similar to the adrenaline engine.
Thread link : Here
Thanks to : slaid480
7) Pure Performances X : Recommended & works like a charm on all android versions !
Thread link : Here
Thanks to : Jeeko
8) Cross Breeder: This is another awesome performance enhancer & this script works on all the devices. It comes with a built in entropy generator like the fly on mod & the pure performances x. It also supports ad blocking to get rid of those annoying pop-ups on your shiny phone. You can update these host files periodically using the adaway app, check out the OP of the tweak to know more. Many more features this script offers, just visit the development thread to know more.
Note: Do not use seeder with this mod. You can only use it to monitor the entropy available. For more details on this, check the OP of the tweak.
Thread link: Here
Thanks to: idcrisis
NOTE : Enable USB debugging mode in the development settings before flashing any of the scripts. Fly on mod & pure performances x come with integrated entropy generator so no need to install Seeder over them. Check out the op of fly on mod to know how to enable/disable the entropy generator manually using terminal emulator. On pure performances x, the entropy generator is enabled by default.
Under clocking :
Under clocking limits the frequency of your phone and allows you to choose between different governors and I/O schedulers. This results in better battery life. But if you don't want to underclock the whole thing and prefer performance with screen on and battery life with screen off ( i.e., on stand by ), go through this thread by my dear friend SuperAce609 :
Thanks to him
Thread link : Here
You can use set CPU for root users or similar apps to set the profiles of your choice.
Apps :
Seeder : I use the Seeder entropy app for lag reduction ( moderate mode ) with all the options checked in ( ticked/opted or whatever you call it ) .
I think the app is free for XDA users.
Tweaks app on stock : This app is mostly included in all the stock based roms. It encloses several tweaks with darktremor a2sd support. Open this app, grant su permissions, tick everything except media straightfright & Darktremor a2sd. Hit apply & reboot.
All these steps and settings have been tested by myself on a cm7 ROM with fire kernel for nearly a week and I can definitely say, my battery that once lasted for just a matter of hours with much of the time on standby, now lasts easily over a day for moderate use . For browsing on edge, it lasts for about 2 hours. I just lost just 7% of battery after listening to over 1.5 hours of non stop music ! Btw, my phone and battery are nearly 2 years old ! Hope this helps you all ! It took nearly an hour for me to write this thread up ! So don't forget to leave a thanks behind .
