Can I install the mywater live wallpaper from the OG transformer? I'm running eclipse 1.3 and I've tried to put the .Apk file in system/app and setting the permissions to rw/r/r but it didn't work, so I tried installing the file from that file, but I just get a "file is not installed"

I am looking for the stock samsung memo app. I believe I found it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10157669&postcount=1492
The problem is it won't install I unzipped it and and tried to install just the memo apk.
I also searched and came across this one. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=811097 Again the apk will not install but this one had a odex I am not sure what that is.
How can I get this to work?
Your gonna have to manualy put it in system/app with root explorer. If your on stock rom you will have to have an odex file with it. The odex files are in the system/. But if your running a custom rom its probly been deodex so just push the apk.

I do have a custom rom Nero 5. I was trying to run the apk from my downloads folder. I just tried to move/copy it to system/apk and it will not move with astro file manager. Am I doing something wrong?
You know i dont use astro so i dont know. You may want to try to fix permisions in clockwork. But if if I were you I would just pay the $1.99 for root explorer, its the best app for root users. I use it all the time to install memo on nero roms. You know my girlfriend has a mt4g temp rooted and I cant install anything in there with linda file manager.

I used to be able to add/remove .apks by using ES file explorer, I managed to add a widget by copying and pasting into /system/app
but when I tried to copy and paste LivewallpaperPicker.apk and VideoPlayer.apk it successfully copies but didn't seems like it's installed.
Any ideas?
I did search and came across this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=875797
but that seems very different to the popular copy and paste method.
thanks.

Did you reboot after you pasted the apk's into system/app?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App
No but when I was on Cognition rom I didn't have to reboot.
I moved on to Leomar's rom anyways.
Cognition > Leomar > VillainRom
You aren't trying to copy an apk from stock to a custom rom, or from a custom rom to another custom rom, are you? Since the signatures are different, it won't work.
Nope, I downloaded both Villainrom 2.3.0 signed.zip and VillainRom 2.3 Lite signed.zip and installed the lite version.
After that I extracted 2.3.0 zip and tried to copy and paste into the Lite rom - Maybe that's where i went wrong? I was guessing since villain signed them both they should be fine.
This is all of the usable system apk files i could find that come on android but were left out of the kd2,kfhd7,kfhd9. All file's were pulled from my optimus v running on thekravens cold as ice android4.0.4.
i gave all apks a quick run down, they all work but beyond that...
here's the files and what they are/do
*Trebuchet android system launcher- don't look so good on kfhd but it works
*HoloSpiralWallpaper- for built in wallpapers
*GalleryGoogle- can replace the built in and i believe relatively useless kfhd picture viewer, it also can apply any picture as a wallpaper just like on reg android, can be used to watch videos
*Android system Browser-good browser if your looking to replace silk or maybe a standby. Once installed reboot kfhd or will have connection error
*LiveWallpapersPicker- Install Live Wallpapers from the Google Market, or Sideload them
how to install
I used jrummys root browser lite to unzip, move n give proper permissions to all files.
1) download kfhd android apks.zip from below. (I download mine directly)
2) unzip the packaged files
3) Make sure you have root access.
4) Install a application to manage files with root access
5) Go into your system/App folder, and move the all the apk's you decide you'd like to use, to this folder.
6) Change permissions to all apks you decided to place in system/app folder to rw-r-r.
7) N reboot and all should be fuctional
***be sure to watch your step inside of the system folder, you could do some damage***
Hi
Ever since I've upgraded to new Sammy JB, I cannot simply install any app by CWM zip or manually by copying the apk to /data/app or /system/app
If I copy the apk and restart it won't install. If I use root explorer and go to the apk location (i.e /data/app/) I see it has a generic android icon. If I click on it and select install, It the parse error.. However, if I copy or move this apk to anywhere on the sdcard, the original apk's icon will restore and i can now install it by clicking it... I tried changing permissions but it did not help... I tried full factory reset and installing another JB based rom (LS8 or LSD WanamLite or NeatROM) but I always get the same problem. Placing the apk on /preload/symlink/app did not work either...
Any ideas what could be the problem?
Thanks
Hi,
I have an android TV box which came with its own launcher, it has a default wallpaper but there is no option to change it. I have found the launcher apk in the pre install folder and extracted it with Apk easy tool and zipped it back and tried to install (app install by directly clicking it) but it wont install says failed then i put the apk in a firmware and zipped it with windows (send to compressed folder) and tried to install the firmware but it also failed.
Could anyone tell me whats wrong or any idea? or is there any software to change it directly ?
Thanks
