If you know how to flash a kernal, then just do it again with stock kernal. Or do a full wipe and factory reset in cwm or factory reset in settings/privacy that way it will be as out of the box and you will still have Pershoot's kernal.
Or
Forget all that and flash a custom rom like Task's, then you get the update, kernal, root and everything else improved and still get the out of the box experience with a whole new rom
---------- Post added at 02:08 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:06 PM ----------
Just noticed you said 3g . All I said is still right except Task's rom is for wifi only.

Follow the instructions in "Re-“Stocking” Yer System…" section of http://p7510.teamovercome.net/?page_id=18 to get stock ROM.
After this flash the stock recovery using ODIN.
Then factory reset in stock recovery.(note: this will erase your SD card data too)

I followed a guide recently, but it took me to honeycomb.... Like the google io devices. Pissed me off.

Task.. just makes for WIFI... and overcome tab gave tooooo many FC when I flashed it. Did not enjoy it at all.
Im currently running stock 3.2 and pershoot kernel at 1.4ghz.
Screen rotation is extremly laggy... and many other things are laggy also.

[Q] Looking for stock kernel for GT10.1 3G

Hi, I am new to Android, , just got my GT10.1 3G [EUR] last week. I am thinking of flashing my tab with the oc kernel from
droidbasement.com/db-blog
So i am just wondering, where can I find a copy of the stock kernel, just in case something goes wrong. I tried searching in the forum but couldn't find it.
My current kernel:
2.6.36.3 [email protected] #1.
Or maybe the kernel comes with the stock kernel?... I'm not sure
Also, is it ok to flash to the Overcome 10.1 Series v1.2.3 rom but use the oc kernel?
Thanks in advance
HI there...what you need to do is do a nandroid backup of your stock rom thru CWM before you flash the new kernel..then if you decide to go back to the stock kernel, via cwm go to restore, advance restore and then choose restore boot...this will get back your stock kernel.
Thanks alot for the info... also is it save to use the
Overcome 10.1 Series v1.2.3 rom
but use another kernel?
You should check out the particular thread..iinm there are a few ppl who reported that there were some problems when using overcome with Pershoot...well you can try and if you face any problems,at least now you know how to revert back....don't forget the "thanks" button...good luck!
I can't seem to find the "thank" button on the lower right corner... weird
maybe its due to my low amount of post??
I'm kind of opening this thread again. I have tried to search for this.
I wonder what is the easiest way to get hold of the stock kernel if I forgot to make a nandroid backup?
Now I have lost 3g cous I flashed the wrong kernel.
I run on ICS italian rom.

[Q] Problem with touch screen and soft keys

Hello,
I have accidentally flashed a kernel for the Galaxy.
Of course it did not work.
Then I flashed Steve kernel.
I noticed that the Y-axis was inverted and the Menu and Back buttons not working.
Can someone help me?
I don't have any problems with STeVEs custom with my french Galaxy s wifi 4.0.
---------- Post added at 10:10 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:52 PM ----------
Maybe you should try to reflash the rom? I don't know how to flash the official rom. ^^
Do you have the US version or another version? Because the US one has a capacitive home button, making it not compatible with international versions and vice-versa. If you have the yp-g1 international (physical home button), try the firmwares at samfirmware.com, all their yp-g1 firmwares are for non US versions.
If you have the US version, here is the link for the stock ROM (credits to alltellmobile): http://www.4shared.com/file/zhZjh0EY/package_us235tar.html
Hope I helped!
EDIT: Oops sorry I just saw that you have a German version. Well go to http://www.samfirmware.com/mp3.htm and pick the right firmware version yp-g1. You have to create an account first but it's easy. There is a flashguide in the ROM package and follow that to reflash your device to stock.
It does not help!
I have reflashed STeVEs ROM and the ROM from samfirmware.com.
Did you try wiping all data before flashing?
Yes, with Volume Up+Home-Button+On
And you can't reflash an official rom?
No, I do not find the XXKPQ-ROM.
Edit:Maybe I should still complement that I mistakenly flashed a Kernel from Samsung Galaxy S
Then it cannot be begun any more.
Then I have flashed STeVEs ROM and Kernel and everything was reflecting-wrong.
Can nobody help me?
I see a YP-G1 ROM here. This seems to be the stock rom for YP-G1 in Hong Kong. Let me know if you have difficulty in downloading it (the download page is all Chinese )
1 Day to download.
Tomorrow there are results.
Edit: Download always failed
thanks for thread, helped a lot
It may sound strange but I got used to it now.
Nevertheless, I would like to have a fully functioning player.
Does anyone know how?
Same Problem here
Hi there,
I have the same Problem.
I tried to flash a gt-i9000 rom on my yp-g1 and it failed.
After this i flashed it with odin (etherealromV2.4 and R3_INTL Kernel). Succesful.
My Problem: my y-axis is inverted and the menu and back keys dont work (but they are lighted).
I already tried different combination of roms (etherealromV2.4, IcyFusion_v2.3_G1UEKI8, Klassic_R5_INTL) and kernels (R3_INTL, STeVEs-3.0-EU, TerraSilent_intl-1.3.5). But nothing fixed the problem.
Do you have any idea how i can fix it?
You two that accidentally flashed the wrong rom most likely need to find the stock rom for your respective players and flash back. Don't flash any custom roms or kernels because that isn't going to help you. Go to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1720457 credits go to zalcimon, and get it from there.

I have a YP-G1CW/XEG (Samsung Galaxy S WIFI 4.0 white - i think for the german market).
I followed this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1531850
First i tried it with G1XXKPQ - but i had the same issues.
Afterwards i tried G1ZKC5. Now everything is fine :good:
Even if I flash TerraSilent_intl-1.3.5 and EtherealRomV2.4 all keys are working correctly and the y-axis is normal.

[Q] How to undo ICS firmware update?

Hello,
I updated my SGS2 to the 4.0.3 firmware from my previous 2.3.6 Gingerbread. After the update my phone lags a lot and the ICS keyboard for texting lags and just sucks.
How can I flash my ROM or whatever it is back to Gingerbread? I don't like this ICS and would rather run GB on my phone. It looked "nicer" in my opinion and ran much much smoother.

You can not undo the the update, per se. You can flash back to stock 2.3.4. If you want to do that, follow the guide linked in my signature to prepare the phone to return to the store.
There is no stock 2.3.6 available.
You can also flash stock plus root 2.3.4 or 2.3.6. For this, you can follow the guide linked in my signature about installing custom firmware without incrementing the flash counter. You would have to get the 2.3.6 firmware from the Download Repository.
In any event, since you will be changing firmware base, you will have to perform a wipe data/factory reset. The instructions are in the guide. You will lose all installed programs, personal settings, contacts, text messages, etc, unless you back them up.
Lol here comes the flood! Get the life boats ready! The "how do I undo this **** stock carrier updates suck wtf " revolution is here!

Once a person commits to dumping the stock 4.0.3 back to 2.3.4, it's a matter of time and reading before they will flash a custom rom.
ICS has too many added features to give it up. If you know that you can go back to 2.3.4 without issue, why not flash a custom ROM.
I believe you can call AT&T CSR and ask for help.
Should AT&T have provided the instruction for reversing back to GB?

Well, this is not entirely accurate. If you flash the stock 2.3.4, you can still do the OTA (over the air) 2.3.6 update from the phone (Settings -> Software Update, IIRC.) We just don't have it dumped and ready to flash from PC. Be aware that this will be a huge hit to your data, so you should use WIFI if possible (it's free at most McDonald's.)

If I flash back to stock 2.3.4 (without root), will I be able to use the OTA updates to get back to 2.3.6? Or will there be a problem since I used Odin to get back to 2.3.4?
Thanks.

Yeah, I thought about that. I don't know if I want to get in that cycle of addiction
Any you recommend? I tried various ROMs with my Galaxy S, and it seemed like there were a few that had deal-breaker issues, like sleep of death and freezing, but it could have been the phone too. It was just hard to know which one to use.

CyanogenMod 9 (ICS) stable was just released. I've been running the nightly builds for three months or so and am quite happy. None of the crap Samsung Touchwiz bits...

DO NOT USE ROM MANAGER OR ANYTHING FROM GALAXY2ROOT_DOT_COM. MAKE SURE YOUR DEVICE IS AN SGH-I777.
Sorry about the all caps or if that sounds pedantic but I'm starting to think that should be in the signature of all posts on this forum.

+1 this is exactly what happened to me. Upgraded to at&t's ics, hated it, and it made me decide to root to get rid of it. As i was doing research on how to root I found xda, and have never looked back. I am now officially addicted and feel like a papparazi: always looking for new stuff to "flash"

[Q] Upgrading from 2.3.5 to JellyBean (Odin wont detect sgs2)

Hi Guys (and Girls),
Ok so rooted my SGS2 and installed custom kernel and rom about 9 months ago, and sort of forget about it after that.
I am wanting to upgrade to one of the Jelly Bean roms (still looking at kernels). I however wasn't sure what the correct approach to this would be as I came across some threads about rooting the phone for the newer android versions, so this probably sounds like a stupid question but i was wondering if i need to re do the root following the new guides or if i can just install a new kernel and rom.
Just a little bit of extra info, i will be starting from scratch with the phone (ie wiping all data from it) as i want a fresh install of jelly bean. Basically factory reset, but from what i remembered of doing my first rom that doesnt remove the root.
Specs:
Android 2.3.5
Baseband I19200XXKI4
Kernel 2.6.35.7-I19100XWKJ2
Build CheckROM Revolution HD 3.1.1
Form memory i used chainfires root guide the first time around.
Any help would be much appreciated.
EDIT: Trying to get ODIN to detect my sgs2 but not having any luck.
http://androidadvices.com/update-galaxy-s2-gt-i9100-official-jellybean-412-xxlsj-firmware/2/
Here is the Jellybean firmware and after flashing it you will loose root access but dont worry u can root it again
---------- Post added at 08:26 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:23 PM ----------
This is the link for rooting this jellybean firmware
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2031042
Thanks Ankur,
Any difference between that and using one of the jelly bean roms in the sgs2 section? because i am keen on using one of the custom roms, or is it best to do this firmware upgrade before a custom rom?
Cheers
I prefer u the stock one because I m also using the stock one with rooted and I get quadrant score of 5069
And 50gb space free on dropbox
Lol, fair enough, i will give the stock a run through and see how it goes.
Thanks.
Edit: Did a factory reset, put the phone into download mode and odin doesnt seem to want to pick it up. Tried turning on kies in the settings as recommended but it just says the app was forced to close.
Odin and Kies don't like each other, have and search and read about how to get odin working. There's literally one of these threads everyday here

Try uninstalling the Kies software but keeping the Samsung drivers. If Kies keeps trying to keep the phones output to itself Odin won't recognise it.

How do i get back to original rom

hi guys,
i have a samsung galaxy s2 (GT-i9100 - NFC), which i got from orange end of 2011. I the in jan 2012 got help from this forum to root my phone and change the rom from the original to:-
Rom & Build No: VillianROM 3.0
And' ver: 2.3.5
Baseband: i9100XXki1
Kernel: 2.6.35.11-ninphetamine-2.0.5+ninpo @ titan #20
Although the phone works okay, i'm beginning to notice a lot of slowdowns and regular reboots, so i want to go back to whatever latest google android OS the S2 can handle (rooted). I've forgotten what to do and would be most grateful if someone could please help me with the following:-
1. Whats the best software/method to backup everything?
2. What is the latest rom (original, but should not have a provider's bloatware) i can use on the S2?
3. Once backed up, how do i change from VillianRom to the latest/best OS currently available?
4. How can i root the original rom?
Thanks once again
Check
www.galaxys2root.com
I think it ll help you and save you time

For official stock rom, check
www.sammobile.com
And search latest stock rom for your region.
If you like custom rom, then there are so many roms on xda. I like omega and alliance roms. Choice varies from person to person

1. Depends. You can do a backup in CWM to image your device or you can use Titanium Backup Pro to just backup your apps/appdata and restore to new rom.
2. http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/ < Check your device/model here.
3. Well just so you're clear, There is no "best" its subjective. Also "latest" depends on what type of rom you want to flash like Sammy/AOSP/AOKP/CM/MIUI etc. To flash latest samsung do it via ODIN, to flash any other do it via CWM. All info you need is already on forum.
4. By flashing custom kernel via ODIN.
All your questions have already been answered countless times.
Thanks very much guys. I simply want a fast lean rom as some seem to be slow running.
Doesn't get better than this.
sendign the phone for warranty?
you will need to flash back the original rom and unroot your phone.
if they found your phone is rooted the warranty void, experience it before so be aware of this.
Let me thank you guys for advicing me. I am most grateful. I read your posts a bit late and in the meantime, I think i have bricked my phone as i've flashed Samsung's original FW (I9100PBVLP8_I9100PORALP8_ORA) from sammobile.com. I used Odin v3 and successfully flashed the phone, but it's simply stuck on the boot logo. I have even done the following:-
I've managed to wipe the cache partition, but the recovery menu has No advanced options. It says:-
ANDROID SYSTEM RECOVERY <3a>
reboot system now
apply update from ext' storage
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
apply update from cache
test redband fota[FS]
But i still cannot get it to boot. I have also tried to use an old nandroid.md5 backup i made, but odin reports the file as invalid.
I'm desperate guys, please could someone help me.
Download Mode and re flash.
Are you sure you are flashing the right ROM right? Check under the battery to see the Device Model.
If it's i9100, then make sure you are downloading a i9100 ROM.
Thanks very much for your advice gastonw - i have managed to fix the problem now by going into system recovery and doing a factory reset, so thank you.
Although everything seems to be working fine, i would have preferred a more newer 4.2 jelly bean rather than 4.0.3. Oh well beggars can't be choosers and all that, lol! I guess i'll have to re-root it again.
gastonw mate ur a star! I've installed the latest JB rom u posted earlier and i'm very happy with it.

Hi You could try this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1501719 its quite safe so ether should work or wont, if don't no harm done as it doesn't need a insecure kernel.
I'm quite new myself @ this so plz use caution when trying it out.

Good to know man, enjoy it
About root, I've seen a couple of methods laying around the threads, I'm sure they're safe.
I still think that ExynosAbuse app is the fastest way to Root now (one-click).
Here's a vid. I never tried it tho.
Thanks very much for the links AnubuRe and Gastonw.
Gastonw mate, i have been playing with the rom you posted a link to. Don't get me wrong, it's great and very fast, but the downside is that it doesn't have a huge number of options to tweak etc. Now someone mentioned a rom called Neatrom, but i'm wondering what you can recommend? I don't want a bloated rom...i want a fast rom, but with some options to allow me more greater control over the phone.
Also, i know this is a bit off-topic, but can you recommend me a widget app, where i can quickly dial phone numbers i.e. by touching a person's photo?
