Theming question - Motorola Droid X2

Hi all. Is there a way in order to unflash a theme before flashing another theme? Right now i am on BlueNeonSteel 1.0 (great theme btw. Props to Kevin3328) but my keyboard is still the theme that i was currently running before it (Ice Cream Sandwich).

If the keyboard was not themed then it will keep the keyboard from the previous theme. All you have to do is reflash your rom, then flash your theme. You don't have to wipe data, but I like to wipe cache and dalvic just to keep everything clean.

Keyboard is themed... if u want to go back to stock just reflash the eclipse rom without wiping.. reboot go back into recovery and reflash your theme of choice

When I already have a theme flashed and if I want a different one do I just flash that one?
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA Premium App
Eh not too sure about that one. You should always do a nand before flashing a theme. But if I were you I'd do a nand right now, then after reboot flash the new theme and see what happens. If it doesn't work, just restore your nand backup and then start over from scratch if you have too.

Make a backup of your current rom first, in case you don't like your new theme or it doesn't work (as stated above), Then wipe cache & dalvik (you won't lose your data), then flash the new theme.

Select it example: (IcSrom.zip) Flash it n wait. After that just reboot n wait.. Congrats u have a custom rom on ur phone now.IF u don't like the rom. I didn't know there were ROMs for that kernel.... I use Eclipse on the 2.3.5 kernel and it is the best on the X2.

I got the sbf in the developement thread, it was posted under the roms, root, etc. etc.? In that list i only see a couple roms offered and was just wondering if their were any more?
Alright I will reiterate because maybe im confused. I SBF'd to android version 2.3.3 system version 1.3.232, kernal version 2.6.32.9. Now what roms are available for me?
Well there were several eclipse releases for that build but I highly doubt anyone has access to them. Hosting for old roms isn't a priority. Honestly you are better off upgrading your build and kernel. 2.3.3 wasn't the most stable

You can do cm7dx2 with the 2.3.4 or eclipse 2.1 with the 2.3.5 update
Sent from my DROID X2 using xda premium
I hear great things about eclipse is it very stable? And I would have to sbf to 2.3.5. How do I root that version?
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA
If you update to 2.3.4 then eclipse 1.3 is very stable! Let me know if you need a link. You can always save root with voodoo root keeper free app and just take the OTA.
I would also strongly using the rerecovery zips as well to always flash last before you reboot in bsr. If you are not sure what I mean I will post a link.
Yea Travis a link would be great so 2.3.4 is what I should sbf to and i have rootkeeper already but was just wondering what the root method was? Psouza has a method for that right.

Rootkeeper isn't necessary for 2.3.4. It could actually cause problems with flashing the rom. Use Pete's one click.

Indeed we can help. You can flash cm7, eclipse 1.3, liberty (its not all that great), and molten rom. I recommend eclipse for stability and cm7 for customization. All you will need to do is install the bootstrap recovery and use it to make a backup of your stock rom. Then wipe data, cache, and dalvic cache. Then flash the rom of your choice. Cm7 requires a few extra steps but we can cross that bridge of we get to it.

Yea I think eclipse is my choice, seems the most stable. I'm not sure about the step by step process for doing this I would like a detailed walkthrough for this it would be greatly appreciated.

Is there a 2.3.3 version of Eclipse? Let me know which version you want to use.
Here is a skeleton walkthrough just to give you an idea:
Make sure your device is rooted
Download the appropriate version of Clockwork Recovery abbrev. (CWR)
Download the rom of your choice and any other zips you need and make sure they are on you EXTERNAL sd card (very important but DO NOT freak out if forget, these things can be fixed
Install CWR from inside the app labeled System Recovery
Your system will reboot into CWR.
Whilst in CWR you want to wipe Cache, Dalvik Cache and System Data
(things will be muy poopy if you dont wipe sys data and Cache; Dalvik not so much)
You would then proceed to 'install zip' --> 'install from SD card'
Find the zips need to flash the rom, let everything work, go back to the CWR home menu (the first one you saw)
Hit 'Reboot device now' and bam, you just flashed your first rom!!!
For future reference: When a developer or anyone for that matter says you have to flash a zip file, the above process is what you would follow; sans wiping the Big Three (Cache Dalvik Cache and Sys Data) though some zips may require to wipe one of three and the poster will tell you which one.
Once you decide which rom you want to flash, Ill give you a more specific walkthrough.
im on 2.3.4 now and want to go with eclipse. That seems to be for me from what ive read. I have read i should do a nand backup but do i have to do that even though im only rooted with no rom? And you mentioned a more detailed walkthrough that sounds great, the noob frendlier the better.lol

The first thing you want to do is upgrade to 2.3.5. That is the kernel you need to be in in oder for Eclipse to work.
You really always want to nandroid when you are installing something semi big. You'll save root and time if something messes up. Do you know how to nandroid? It takes about 15 minutes to do

[Q] Help! MIUI Install

My Photon is rooted, unlocked, CWM 5.0.2.8, Running CM 7 NIGHTLY 7/22. I wanted to switch to MIUI 2.7.27 Official Port for the Photon. Downloaded the Zip and GAPPS for the ROM, Nandroid Backup, Cleared Data/Factory Reset, Formated /Data, /System, /Cache, Cleared Delvik Cache and The Flashed The MIUI zip TWICE... went REALLY fast only showed MIUI Logo froze and then said rom completed. Flashed The Gapps and Rebooted... it stayed on the Motorola logo with Unlocked on the top for a whole day... i really want to switch to the MIUI Rom.... what am i doing wrong?
miui uses an installer that requires a rom to be installed on the phone. you wiped the system. don't wipe anything before installing. you can do that in the installer.
there are three files to flash. base, options then themes. it's a great rom. you'll enjoy it.
Sent from my MB855 using Tapatalk 2
So I download it from miui.us now what's the install process... its only one zip...
Bump... Anyone?
Sent from my MB855 using xda app-developers app
The zip on miui.us is only the ROM. You should be able to flash it but you have the wrong version of cwm. You need to have either jokers recovery v3, twrp, or cwm 5.0.2.7. 5.0.2.8 is from ROMmanager and doesn't work for any ics roms

Why don't you flash a rom that you can flash from CWM and then flash MIUI?
You could reinstall CM7 or AOKP.
Once installed run the MIUI installer (without wiping anything before starting the installer), and then install Gapps. You should then be good to go.
Also, I think you should spend some more time reading about what you're doing. It seems that you may be on the edge of not knowing what you're doing. I'd suggest (at a minimum) the first 3 posts in the MIUI thread should be understood in detail before doing this again.

I'm not sure. I run AOKP. I think if you've got jokers revision 3 of CWM that you're fine.
I'm on 5.0.2.7-photon3. I think you're one release newer, but make sure it's joker's version and you should be alright.
Check out qbking77 on YouTube. He has install vids for most of our roms.

From your wording it sounds as if you flashed the GSM patch & rebooted before you flashed the rom. If that's the case, you're booting into an empty partition. You have to have something on the safe side to boot into before attempting to power up into that side.

On GSM you ONLY can boot DHackers Roms with Safestrap. Regular Roms won't boot.
You have to use Boot Menu and convert the Rom.

:good: I tried HSD-Pilot's way and rom works correctly now. :good:
Do these steps:
convert nxrom by boot manager(thick all parts specially the last one)
download eclipse gsm patch and put it in SD card
go to recovery
do full wipe(data and cache)
install the rom
install the gsm patch TWICE
reboot
after long booting do first initial setup and reboot.
you will find everything works perfectly.
Will try. Just a question about Safestrap: is it ok that when wipe data and caches in safe mode, i got my unsafe os factory setted?

and I'm interesting others answer.
When you wipe data on safe system your non-safe system won't get touched. So when you toggle back to non safe, all your apps and settings will still be there.

You where asking about safestrap (Safe & Non-safe)
But i guess you used BM and didn't format the Webtop partition. If you did it, then you have to many Apps installed, because the Webtop only got around 1,5gb Space. If you need more then you have to use your Main System for the BionX Rom.
