Okay so I've this problem where my battery discharges while charging!
I had this problem since wednesday that time I was on stock... So I thought flashing a custom ROM now as of now i'm on SonyStyle still the same problem,
let me elaborate my problem a bit more
-To monitor how much current is discharging n charging! -498 mA while discharging n -298 mA while charging it normally
-So next thing I tried is to charge it while being switched off, most of the times it wont charge n when it'll charge it'll reach some point n starts discharging! Discharging even when its off and plugged to the charger! BIZZARE isnt it?
-Now in order to put it on chrging i've to reboot it couple of times untill battery monitor widget shows +current... N when it reaches 100 it'll begin to discharge like it'll be empty in 1nhalf hour
-ALSO I'VE TURNED OFF ANYTHING THAT SUCKS BATTERY! AND I'M NOT USING MY DEVICE WHILE CHARGING! ALSO IT DISCHARGES WHILE BEING ON CHARGER IN A switched off state.
these things i've already tried
-Flashing custom ROM
-Putting my cell on powersave CPU governor
-undervolting
-charging using USB
-CUSTOMER CARE CENTRE only resets the software

You might try resetting your battery stats on clockworkmod or xrecovery. Charge until 100% and let it discharge naturally to switch off, allow a few days of charge cycling and it should be ok.
Lipoly batteries dont trickle charge. If you leave your phone on charge for 8 hours it will just switch off the charger, discharge for awhile and then switch back on the charger. Most take 1 to 1.5 hours to charge, so if you leave it plugged in you will be charging/discharging about 6 times in that period. Lipoly have a limited number of charges before they diminish, usually about 500. So if you leave it plugged in you can reduce your battery life span considerably - otherwise it should last a good year and a half before it wears out.
Dont ever try to trickle charge, overcharge or manually discharge a lipoly battery as they have a tendancy to explode.
The good news is lipoly batteries are cheap to manufacture. You should be able to pick up a decent bst-38 (or substitute) on ebay/amazon for around 15-20 euros. Dont be hoodwinked into the 2000mAh batteries, most are fake. My 970mAh can last 2 days on Gintonic rom.

I had a similar problem with the battery discharging whilst charging.
For me the problem turned out to be my USB cable becoming faulty. It would still transfer data when connected to a computer, but would get a similar problem to the one you describe when charging. Might not be the same problem for you though.
I am now experiencing this problem. I think it is my usb cable too. Will buy another 1 soon. It discharges then charges again when I pull out the cable and plug it in again.

Well already tried wiping battery stats
heres what I've discovered till now
-The charge current drops as if the battery is at 91% but it isnt even close
-It is either the battery is sending wrong data to charger, or it is faulty
-Not able to explain how n why it discharges even a switched off state???
-Only solution I can think is a charging dock for BST-38

If I leave my cell on charging for 8 hours, then after 8 hours my battery will be zero... It'll keep blinking the red light for hour or more... See thats a wicked problem...
happened to me also, had to use a better cable (don't use thin and/or long cables)
Yeah I tried with a Nokia made cable and its charging flawlessly! This is my first time with a Non-Nokia n so far the experience is not very good!

- similar (identical) problem, tried similar resolutions (factory reset/sdcard/sim removing/different chargers/battery replacement)
- disassemble my phone... and found out, that micro usb connector replacement is unrealistic.
- watched charge/discharge/voltage/current/temperature process trough battery monitor widget (1 minute sampling)..
- re-calibrated battery many times
RESOLUTION : micro usb connector or connections in mobo is dead. I build charger with current meter. No matter, what says my phone about charging (pluged in - discharging)- any information displayed delays for minutes on phone. IF my external current meter says - "charging", than phone state is "CHARGING" independent from what phone is displaying at the moment. Moving usb charging connector in phone causes current to stop flying to phone or reducing current value. Phone still says "plugged in" and or "charging" on "discharging"...
Temporary resolution: little pushing/deformation on charging connector (male) and LED in charging chain, witch is displaying - charging or not. Every time connecting charger i'm looking on indicator LED and moving charge connector, till LED says "charging" and then no more any moves on phone.
Future resolution: contact-less charging trough inductive coupling

My Streak is only 3 days old and I am thrilled with it but .....
Last night I shut it off and put it on the wall charger as usual at bedtime. It had about 80% charge left and had been working fine all day.
When I got up this morning and tried to turn the phone on, it said "0% Charge" and shut itself off. I had it on my cigarette lighter/usb charger in the car on the way to work (1 hour) and it still said 0% charge. I have had it on charge from the usb on my desktop computer in the office for 1-1/2 hours now and it says 20% charge.
When the phone is shut off, what the heck could discharge the battery completely in 6 hours????? Could the charger be bad and drawing current from the battery? (Shouldn't happen - poor design if it did!)
If it is REALLY sensitive to input voltage, maybe the USB charger in my car isn't high enough to charge the Dell? (I have seen some usb devices that actually want 5.1 to 5.2 volts to charge.)
Anyway, it is slowly coming up but I need to figure out what killed it over night. Has anybody else had this happen????

Did you fully shut-down your streak, or just turn-off the screen? There is circuitry that stops the battery from charging once a full charge is reached, as over charging will ruin the battery. So the phone should be on while charging. Another thought... Will it even charge if it's not on?

Yes, the phone will charge while it is powered off.
Your car charger may not have the power needed. I have seen a few posts about the car chargers.
Something does not seem right. While on the wall charger it should have been at 100 percent.
Also, my phone will charge fully in 2 hours on the wall charger, not sure of the time on USB.

Getting stranger!
After two incidents where the phone SHOULD have charged over night but was dead or nearly dead in the morning, I plan to switch to a USB charger that I KNOW is good but .....
When I tried to power up the Streak this morning (after being shut off last night and left on the charger over night) it was TOTALLY dead - didn't even light up again when I plugged it back into the charger! - so I stuffed it in my pocket until I got to work.
I popped the battery out and measured it - no-load voltage showed 4.0 Volts. When I put the battery back in, the Streak booted fine and showed 100% charge! (It was not battery contacts - I cleaned them a few days ago after the no-charge incident).
It appears that there may be something in battery-backed memory that got out of whack and removing/replacing the battery cleared the error state allowing the Streak to boot. This could tie in with the apparent charging problem?
Any ideas?
Yes it sounds like a catch-22 and that's exactly what I think it is.
Yesterday my phone battery bailed on me. So I plug it in for a night and wake up to see it hasn't charged at all. It's still off and continually displaying the battery charging icon, after which it shows the Samsung Galaxy S2 logo, after which it dies. This goes on forever.
I've tried different outlets, also my computer's USB port, but to no avail. I have the impression that it wants to be on to charge, and since it does not have enough power to start, it won't charge. Seems like the amount of power from the charger suddenly isn't enough to start, or that the device tries to start before the battery can handle it.
This evening, after not trying anything for an entire day, I got it to show the CyanogenMod logo, but it got stuck on loading. So I took it out, wanted to go into the CWM to wipe some settings and have a clean installation, but then it bailed on me again.
Now I'm back in the endless charge-start-die loop. What can I do?

I think your battery is messed up, buy a new battery. Or make it go into recovery mode. Or, go to your nearest Samsung Centre.

Do you have a multimeter to check the voltage of the battery?
Either you will need another phone that will accept the battery to charge it or your can charge the battery externally with a lithium charger (think Remote Control cars, planes, helis)
or ebay for a new battery.

BTW Lithium batteries will die very quickly i not kept above the correct voltage. Li-Ion are charged in two stages. Constant current, and then constant voltage.
Constant current is to apply 500ma at around 3.7 or 4 volts per cell till the battery voltage gets to its upper limit depending on what battery chemistry you have. Then keeping the voltage at that limit, reduce the current continually till the battery is fully charged. As I do not know the max voltage for the cell, I will just assume that 3.5v will be a safe amount.
So to charge, simply apply 3.5 volts to the phone battery for a few minutes at a time, with a resistor or light bulb in between so the current is limited, then checking it back in your phone inbetween to see if it charges.
If you are confused at the major concepts here then just buy a new battery, to save breaking you or your phone.
I'm travelling around in Asia but the local market had a place that had proper equipment. I managed to fix the battery by charging it with an external one-fits-all charger (where you can put the positive and negative leads anywhere). After that I can just use the phone again and charge it normally.
If the phone didn't try to start but would just charge the battery when plugged into the mains, this would also have worked. Anyway, I had a new battery made (I'm in China so they just pack a random battery with some rubber to make the size fit into some stickers and that works). Funny thing is, it has 1900mAh, a lot more than the original battery, though being a lot smaller in size. I hope it will last...

i have the same trouble of him, and i can share you that my wife and me just bought two galaxy s2 white from France...they are totally new (two weeks ago).
Here the bug i confirm, if we are out of battery, then to plug it in the official craddle of my car, with the official charger will power on automatically the phone, then it will loop in on---off--on--of, because not enough power to keep the phone charging.
I confirm that the only way to make the phone charging correctly is to plug it with the power socekt wall charger, by the car there is no way.
It seems the difference between the car charging and the house charging is that in the car when it is plugged the phone power on auto, in the house the phone charge without powering on the phone....
Is there a way to force in the car with the craddle to charge some minutes without the need to power on it auto ??

have you tried to remove the battery from the phone for at least a couple of hours and then put the battery again and plug it?. I had the same issue and doing this I could charge the phone after a couple of tries. I hope you got luck with this.
I've tried it but it wouldn't work. A separate charger (charge outside the phone) did the trick, no more problems since then.

1 Cell lithium batteries like phone batteries are nominally 3.7v but their voltage depends on charge. They should generally be charged to a maximum of 4.2V, and not discharged below 3.3V/3V, depending on who you ask. You don't want to get it wrong though - look up what happens if you overcharge a lithium battery on youtube!

I have the same Battery Logo Boot Loop
I have several batteries, and a separate charger ... batteries at 100%
The problem occurred while phone was in use, connected to wall charger, and had reached 100% .
I continued to use the phone while plugged into charger.
Phone shut down with a Battery Logo showing only a thin green line at bottom.
I turned phone off and swapped in a hot battery, but phone would not turn on.
Stays totally black screen, will not enter Download mode or Recovery mode.
With charger plugged in it will go into the Battery Logo Boot Loop.
The blue light next to the power button flashes, the Battery Logo appears for a few seconds then screen goes black and cycle repeats.
Any help will be appreciated.

Hi all i have a problem with my sgs2 i don't know if it is the battery the charger , Apps or charging port. When the battery gauge shows 1% i can't charge my phone it stops to 2% when i plug to usb it can't connect as mass storage properly and when even the phone shows full charge then i unplug it battery gauge falls suddenly to 60% as an example i have try changing two usb cables same issue plz help
Got my second Prime, after having to send back the first one. But this time the charger was defective. I have been able to charge it a bit by using the USB on the PC, so-called trickle charge, but I did not charge it properly before first time use (the eight hours recommended). The tablet was slightly used, slightly charged, slightly used and charged to exactly 100% through computer's USB. The dock won't trickle charge at all and has now 0% power.
I can send in the charger back and receive a new, but this will take one to two weeks. So I won't be able to charge the dock at all in a couple of weeks and it will be stored with 0 % battery power. The tablet would have to do with the trickle charge.
I then wonder how damaging this could be the battery? I do not want to take any chances and end up with a crappy battery after a year or two. I have read a lot on the internet, but people are very inconsistent about whether a Li-ion battery will be damaged without proper first time charging or not, and lying around for a couple of weeks with zero battery power.

Before sending the charger in try putting in a plastic bag and place it in the freezer for about 20 minutes. Get as much air out of the bag as possible. It could be the chargers safety has been tripped and its stuck.
they recommended the battery be fully charged up when first recieced. they say 8hrs. but that's way too long. only takes about 2 hrs. for battery to fully charge through its power plug. once fully charged battery will need To go through a few complete cycles(from 100% to 0% or close) before the battery is properly calibrated and optimized.
I wouldn't think trickle charging the prime will hurt anything as long as you still going through cycles. if you only can trickle charge right now, might be best not to let prime go completely dead. just charge once its low or whenever not in use. how long did it take to charge battery completely up through trickle charge?
As far as I know trickle charge is even better for Lithium batteries, and provides longer battery times and less wear-and-tear on the battery.
Tried the freezer. It would charge for a couple of minutes, then stop again. But it gets pretty hot, so I would thinks it's overheating.
Don't know how long the trickle charge takes. I charged it for maybe four hours from 60 %, but don't know when the charge was complete.
And as I said, I used the prime for a bit, turning it on and off, tryinging to get the charging to work. I first charged it completely after 2 days. And the dock got dischared at once since connected it to the tablet at once, and left it for 8 hours because I thought it was charging. Haven't been able to charge the dock since...
Trickle charging is actually better for your devices than charging with a rapid charger. It both prolongs the overall life of the battery and can lead to "deeper" charging where the batter actually ends up with a slightly higher stored charge which would give you slightly longer battery life.
As for the charger, if you live near an OfficeDepot they might have some in-store so you can pick up a replacement for around $30. You can also get them online from the OfficeDepot website: http://www.officedepot.com/a/products/768723/ASUS-Power-Adapter-For-Eee-Pad/
Even if you get your charger back from RMA, it is good to have a spare charger lying around!
Hi as stated my question is NOT to know how many of you experience charging that takes too long, but is there a SOLUTION for it?
I am using a desire s, it used to take 2hours 30min(from 15%-100%) but now a days it takes close to 5 hours to fully charge.
I've read many thread with similar problem but non seem to be able to find the solution.
I doubt it is battery related issue as i got this phone together with my friends and theirs has no issue like this.
I've tried :
1)full wipe
2)different rom(s)
3)different kernel
4)battery stat wipe
5)different charger(both are htc)
ps : I've post this in DesireS Q&A but did not get any solution.
How are you charging your phone: USB to PC it via wall charger? If it's taking longer than usual turn off the phone. I've found that this sped up the charge dramatically! By doing so, you can also see a battery simulation on the screen showing the charging process.
Also, if you're charging vis USB, the requirements are 5 volts from a USB connector. But the problem is amperage. Wall chargers can supply up to 1 amp (some will supply more, but you don't want more for a phone), while many computers will only supply 500 milliamps out of a USB connector. Thus the phone (battery) will charge faster with a higher amperage. If that doesn't do any good, you may have a bunk battery or some kind of hardware issue...

I am using wall charger. It seems consistent to charge slower at around 70% then speed back up at 90%. Are u sure that this is a symptoms of a spoiled battery?
To me(an accountant not a technicians) it seems like the "smart" phone is tell it to charge slower at 70%.

I have the same problem, first when I bought my SE x10 mini pro. It charged in 1.5 hours but nw it takes about 3 hours. I don't know the reason but I'm trying to find out how to solve this problem.
I'm not entirely certain its a case of bad battery, but it does sound a bit suspicious. If you're feeling up to it, you can try this: (it's worth a shot.)
If, after rooting or more likely that case after flashing a new rom, you often have battery reporting errors and re-calibrating the battery along with some steps I will outline for you below will ensure that your battery is getting a full charge, and the battery reporting accuracy is right on.
1. Take the case off your phone (one of the latter steps involves taking the battery out from the phone while it's plugged in. Make sure your case won't stand in the way.)
2. Install Battery Calibration app from the market
3. Plug in your phone to charge while it's on, wait till it gets to a 100%
4. When the charge is 100%, open the BatteryCalibration app and lookup what the charge is in MV while at 100%. Write it down.
My Atrix 2 was showing ~3400MV while at 100%, which is definitely not the maximum capacity.
5. Discharge your phone completely until it shuts off.
A good way of doing this quickly is by turning on wifi, and a video player.
6. Without turning on the phone plug it into a wall charger and let it get to 100%
7. When it's at 100%, without unplugging it from the wall charger, take off the battery cover, and take the battery out.
Your phone will "reboot" and show a Missing Battery icon.
8. Without unplugging the phone from the wall charger or turning it on, put the battery back in and wait until the phone recognizes the battery.
9. Your battery should now be recognized by the phone, and showing a charge % significantly lower than 100%.
Mine showed only 5%.
10. Let it sit there charging for 2-3 hours (or more).
My phone wouldn't charge past 10%, but yours might. The numbers don't matter much as the phone is definitely getting additional charge that could have been lost while flashing ROMs, etc.
11. After 2-3 hours (or more), turn the phone on while holding the volume down button and get into CWM.
Do not disconnect it from the charger still!
12. Wipe battery stats and reboot.

13. When the phone turns on, go into Battery Calibration app again and look up your MV numbers -if you were like me, they should be significantly higher than before. After this whole process I had 4351MV at 100%, comparing to 3400MV before calibration.
Do not disconnect it from the charger still!
14. Make sure your wifi and data connections are off. Now finally unplug the phone from the charger.
Go to bed, let your phone sleep too.
The next morning, use your phone as normal throughout the day. Then when it comes time to charge again, see if that does anything for your battery life and/or charging times...

Yes is charges quickly when the phone is off, but what if i am expecting a call or some sort. Could it be a script some where to tell the phone when should it start slow charge or something similar?
So i just played with Custom ROMs to find the best for me...
But from one point my Phone f*cked up the battery detecting...
CM9 and CM9 detect the battery at 45% and then he Level instantly just drop to 0%...
I cant even restart my phone, so i guess the battery really went out...
So how can i fix, that the ROM would not detect it 45% but 3-4% ?
And let me fully chage my phone ?
Stock rom Always Detect it 100% and then randonly the phone shut down in random times (cuz it drops the level to 0%)
I've tried the "Fully-Charge, Fully-Discharge" But the ROM still detect the Battery wrong...

How old is the battery? What charging cable are you using and what is the cable plugged into?
If the battery is more then a year old it could be 'tired' and not holding a charge correctly (trying another known good battery in your phone will determine this, as will trying your battery in another phone, and if it works well you may have more issues to deal with). If you got the phone second hand, you have no way of knowing the battery's history. Repeated overcharging is also not recommended, as well as leaving the battery in very hot places as it can damage the onboard circuitry in the battery.
Cheap aftermarket (non OEM) USB cables are not that great imo, they are generally not as well made and soon get loose connections, resulting in poor connectivity (charging with a bad cable can also damage the battery). Always use the original cable or a good quality aftermarket one, like Belkin.
Charging the phone from a USB port on a PC or laptop (and/or via a USB hub) is not as efficient as charging it directly from a wall mains USB adapter, because the power often gets interrupted. Ideally for the best charge you should turn the phone off and use a wall/mains socket USB lead, so as give a direct, constant, power supply to charge a battery. A typical full charge is done in two hours. If you charge this way and the battery still has issues buy a new one.

First of all, the Phone is manufactured in 11W41 (2011 Week #41) and the battery in 11W39 (2011 Week #39)
I use a tipical Micro USB charger which does not connect to the wall with USB but the cable directly integrated into the adapter...
And the phone's shipped official cable to charge throught my PC...
The battery worked fine before i forgot to delete battery stats and flashed a ROM...
After that, all ROM is getting fake battery data...
After using my phone i noticed:
-When the phone displays 70-80% charge, the battery actually have 10-15%
-When the battery reach 0% the phone not just jumps to 0% but the Phone shut down within a half second (as no more energy)
-When i charge it to 3-4% the phone show 80% again...
-So i can charge it to about 10 or max 15% when the OS detect 100% and does not charge it further more, which prevent me from properly re-calibrate the battery stats, cuz 10-15 will be always the max charge of the battery...
Now i'm looking for some kind of Mod / App that fake the Battery level to the OS (for example lock it to 5% and the OS continue to charge the battery) i know its dangerious cuz if i'm not aware i'll overcharge it and it will die permanently, but i have no better idea ATM...
Update: Sometimes after my phone dies from no remaining electron in the battery It displays 5% charge when i switch it on while connected to a charger (the only way i can switch it on) And starts to increase.. (5-6-7-8 etc..)
But sometimes it instantly jumps up to 70-80% if i think right when the screen switches of..
So i enabled "No-screen-off-whili-on-charger" and letit charging..
Will notice you about the result...

try reflash stock.ics ftf should fix this
Already tried, the Stock rom always showed 100% charge, and when the battery ran out, just powered off...
(Jumped from 100 to 0 instantly)
As i mentioned, in the reply you quoted, today it started charging from 0...
It went good, but somewhy, it just stopped at 26% and not a single volt went into the Battery...
As i Pulled out the Cable, the indicator jumped to 100 instantly...
Can you link several stock ROMs ?
I've tried with the 4.0.4 Android
but maybe the 2.3 can still work with it...

but i think theres some HW damage. even if not rhe battery maybe some config chip is broken or whatever on the board. normally flashing a stock.ics.ftf resloves all software issues, as its resets all stuff to factory..

One solution still, that my frind has the same phone as me, so when i meet him, he can charge my battery to really full and maybe when i insert it to my phone it might work...
