Hi as stated my question is NOT to know how many of you experience charging that takes too long, but is there a SOLUTION for it?
I am using a desire s, it used to take 2hours 30min(from 15%-100%) but now a days it takes close to 5 hours to fully charge.
I've read many thread with similar problem but non seem to be able to find the solution.
I doubt it is battery related issue as i got this phone together with my friends and theirs has no issue like this.
I've tried :
1)full wipe
2)different rom(s)
3)different kernel
4)battery stat wipe
5)different charger(both are htc)
ps : I've post this in DesireS Q&A but did not get any solution.
How are you charging your phone: USB to PC it via wall charger? If it's taking longer than usual turn off the phone. I've found that this sped up the charge dramatically! By doing so, you can also see a battery simulation on the screen showing the charging process.
Also, if you're charging vis USB, the requirements are 5 volts from a USB connector. But the problem is amperage. Wall chargers can supply up to 1 amp (some will supply more, but you don't want more for a phone), while many computers will only supply 500 milliamps out of a USB connector. Thus the phone (battery) will charge faster with a higher amperage. If that doesn't do any good, you may have a bunk battery or some kind of hardware issue...

I am using wall charger. It seems consistent to charge slower at around 70% then speed back up at 90%. Are u sure that this is a symptoms of a spoiled battery?
To me(an accountant not a technicians) it seems like the "smart" phone is tell it to charge slower at 70%.

I have the same problem, first when I bought my SE x10 mini pro. It charged in 1.5 hours but nw it takes about 3 hours. I don't know the reason but I'm trying to find out how to solve this problem.
I'm not entirely certain its a case of bad battery, but it does sound a bit suspicious. If you're feeling up to it, you can try this: (it's worth a shot.)
If, after rooting or more likely that case after flashing a new rom, you often have battery reporting errors and re-calibrating the battery along with some steps I will outline for you below will ensure that your battery is getting a full charge, and the battery reporting accuracy is right on.
1. Take the case off your phone (one of the latter steps involves taking the battery out from the phone while it's plugged in. Make sure your case won't stand in the way.)
2. Install Battery Calibration app from the market
3. Plug in your phone to charge while it's on, wait till it gets to a 100%
4. When the charge is 100%, open the BatteryCalibration app and lookup what the charge is in MV while at 100%. Write it down.
My Atrix 2 was showing ~3400MV while at 100%, which is definitely not the maximum capacity.
5. Discharge your phone completely until it shuts off.
A good way of doing this quickly is by turning on wifi, and a video player.
6. Without turning on the phone plug it into a wall charger and let it get to 100%
7. When it's at 100%, without unplugging it from the wall charger, take off the battery cover, and take the battery out.
Your phone will "reboot" and show a Missing Battery icon.
8. Without unplugging the phone from the wall charger or turning it on, put the battery back in and wait until the phone recognizes the battery.
9. Your battery should now be recognized by the phone, and showing a charge % significantly lower than 100%.
Mine showed only 5%.
10. Let it sit there charging for 2-3 hours (or more).
My phone wouldn't charge past 10%, but yours might. The numbers don't matter much as the phone is definitely getting additional charge that could have been lost while flashing ROMs, etc.
11. After 2-3 hours (or more), turn the phone on while holding the volume down button and get into CWM.
Do not disconnect it from the charger still!
12. Wipe battery stats and reboot.

13. When the phone turns on, go into Battery Calibration app again and look up your MV numbers -if you were like me, they should be significantly higher than before. After this whole process I had 4351MV at 100%, comparing to 3400MV before calibration.
Do not disconnect it from the charger still!
14. Make sure your wifi and data connections are off. Now finally unplug the phone from the charger.
Go to bed, let your phone sleep too.
The next morning, use your phone as normal throughout the day. Then when it comes time to charge again, see if that does anything for your battery life and/or charging times...

Yes is charges quickly when the phone is off, but what if i am expecting a call or some sort. Could it be a script some where to tell the phone when should it start slow charge or something similar?

Okay so I've this problem where my battery discharges while charging!
I had this problem since wednesday that time I was on stock... So I thought flashing a custom ROM now as of now i'm on SonyStyle still the same problem,
let me elaborate my problem a bit more
-To monitor how much current is discharging n charging! -498 mA while discharging n -298 mA while charging it normally
-So next thing I tried is to charge it while being switched off, most of the times it wont charge n when it'll charge it'll reach some point n starts discharging! Discharging even when its off and plugged to the charger! BIZZARE isnt it?
-Now in order to put it on chrging i've to reboot it couple of times untill battery monitor widget shows +current... N when it reaches 100 it'll begin to discharge like it'll be empty in 1nhalf hour
-ALSO I'VE TURNED OFF ANYTHING THAT SUCKS BATTERY! AND I'M NOT USING MY DEVICE WHILE CHARGING! ALSO IT DISCHARGES WHILE BEING ON CHARGER IN A switched off state.

You might try resetting your battery stats on clockworkmod or xrecovery. Charge until 100% and let it discharge naturally to switch off, allow a few days of charge cycling and it should be ok.
Lipoly batteries dont trickle charge. If you leave your phone on charge for 8 hours it will just switch off the charger, discharge for awhile and then switch back on the charger. Most take 1 to 1.5 hours to charge, so if you leave it plugged in you will be charging/discharging about 6 times in that period. Lipoly have a limited number of charges before they diminish, usually about 500. So if you leave it plugged in you can reduce your battery life span considerably - otherwise it should last a good year and a half before it wears out.
Dont ever try to trickle charge, overcharge or manually discharge a lipoly battery as they have a tendancy to explode.
The good news is lipoly batteries are cheap to manufacture. You should be able to pick up a decent bst-38 (or substitute) on ebay/amazon for around 15-20 euros. Dont be hoodwinked into the 2000mAh batteries, most are fake. My 970mAh can last 2 days on Gintonic rom.

I had a similar problem with the battery discharging whilst charging.
For me the problem turned out to be my USB cable becoming faulty. It would still transfer data when connected to a computer, but would get a similar problem to the one you describe when charging. Might not be the same problem for you though.
I am now experiencing this problem. I think it is my usb cable too. Will buy another 1 soon. It discharges then charges again when I pull out the cable and plug it in again.

Well already tried wiping battery stats
heres what I've discovered till now
-The charge current drops as if the battery is at 91% but it isnt even close
-It is either the battery is sending wrong data to charger, or it is faulty
-Not able to explain how n why it discharges even a switched off state???
-Only solution I can think is a charging dock for BST-38

If I leave my cell on charging for 8 hours, then after 8 hours my battery will be zero... It'll keep blinking the red light for hour or more... See thats a wicked problem...
happened to me also, had to use a better cable (don't use thin and/or long cables)
Yeah I tried with a Nokia made cable and its charging flawlessly! This is my first time with a Non-Nokia n so far the experience is not very good!

- similar (identical) problem, tried similar resolutions (factory reset/sdcard/sim removing/different chargers/battery replacement)
- disassemble my phone... and found out, that micro usb connector replacement is unrealistic.
- watched charge/discharge/voltage/current/temperature process trough battery monitor widget (1 minute sampling)..
- re-calibrated battery many times
RESOLUTION : micro usb connector or connections in mobo is dead. I build charger with current meter. No matter, what says my phone about charging (pluged in - discharging)- any information displayed delays for minutes on phone. IF my external current meter says - "charging", than phone state is "CHARGING" independent from what phone is displaying at the moment. Moving usb charging connector in phone causes current to stop flying to phone or reducing current value. Phone still says "plugged in" and or "charging" on "discharging"...
Temporary resolution: little pushing/deformation on charging connector (male) and LED in charging chain, witch is displaying - charging or not. Every time connecting charger i'm looking on indicator LED and moving charge connector, till LED says "charging" and then no more any moves on phone.

hi guys! i'm running cm7.2 on my su660 (it's a kang build which is ported from p990 official CM build). and i have a problem on charging the phone. when the phone have 10% of battery left, i plug in the charger, the phone show the charging symbol . but when i leave it sleep and come back after 'bout 3 hours, it still show 10%. but the voltage in sparepart is aproximate 4200 mV. so the battery is fully charged but the rom didn't regconize it. but then after some minutes turning the screen on, the rom show that phone is fully charged. so i guess that the battery percentage counter doesn't work why the phone is pluged in and sleep. so this is a rom issue? can i fix it myself?

As far as power cycling, I don't know that it does much good. I run my device in performance mode all the time, and with a CPU overclock of 1.25GHz and various tweaks, I have about a day an a half to a day and a quarter of full runtime from my battery. This is with moderate to heavy usage (calls, emailing, text, gaming, web browsing, etc.) so you should have no problems getting acceptable battery performance after following these steps:
1. Take the case off your device (one of the latter steps involves taking the battery out from the phone while it's plugged in. Make sure your case won't stand in the way.)

3. Plug in your device to charge while it's on, wait till it gets to a 100%

15. Make sure your wifi and data connections are off. Now finally unplug the phone from the charger.
Go to bed, let your phone sleep too.
16. Success! Next morning check where your battery % is at and if you followed the instructions correctly / got lucky like me, your battery life should be 90% or more.
I went to bed with 98% and woke up to 94%. So, I consider this mission a success.

I've been having issues with my phone charging. Took it to Telus and I got a new one. Problem kept occurring so I got the battery replaced as well. Despite basically getting a new phone I'm still having issues. Basically say I'll have 14% battery, I plug it in overnight and come back and it's 34%. So it charges 20% in 7 or 8 hours in the wall charger. I'll then turn it off and pop out the battery, put it back in, turn it on and I'll have 60%. Within a few minutes I'll have 50%. After an hour of use or so it'll beep saying I have 15% battery. I once again pop out the battery and then it'll say I have 40%. I don't even remember the last time I've ever got over an 80% charge or even a 100% charge. I'm lost for ideas at how to fix this.
I'm running ICS S-On, but rooted.

PS The picture I've attached shows what I was talking about. When it was at the bottom red when my phone died saying it had over 20% battery I plugged it in and left it charging for about 14 hours to find it at under 30%.
Sell it and get a better phone
You probably are flashing something wrong or have a rogue app... but there are better phones and its the "black friday" time of year. Just get a better phone.

Have you tried using a different USB cable and/or adapter? Either or both could be faulty.
Give Better Battery Stats a try, and see if it can point out some apps that are running that you were unaware of.

Alternatively, based on what you're saying, you might need to re-train your battery stats. Since you used a new phone with a possible bad battery, when your phone depleted itself on that bad battery, that might have trained the battery stats improperly. Retrain your battery stats and see if that will help you out.

I just re-read OP and noticed you advised it NEVER hits 100% charge - Few more things to try:
Firstly, try shutting phone off and charging it OFF overnight, as that might charge it faster.
Secondly, if that fixed the issue, try a different phone charger. Either your USB cord or the USB adaptor (or both) might be bad and not supplying sufficient power.
Thirdly, if that didn’t work, try a different wall outlet – I have run into a few wall outlets that don’t supply sufficient enough power to charge a device.
Finally, if everything I advised fails …… get a new phone. LOL I’d suggest a new battery, but you already did that. If you still have your old one, try the steps I suggested with that battery as well.
Yeah, you could try a different battery or charger. Make the the battery is genuine OEM and new just to be sure, and/or try getting that T-Mobile branded micro-usb charger that outputs 1,000 mAh.
Ive haad a zero lemon 7000 may battery for months now for my s3, however recently when I plug my phone in to charge, it charges until its full and then I take out the charger, plug it back in in 10 seconds and it charges for up to 3 hours and does the same thing again

i didn't quite get your point but if you are saying that the phone takes a lot of time to charge
like way more than it should try a different charger and see if the problem is still there
Or check the spring contacts in the housing. Maybe an after sales or not original Battery has squeezed the contacts

No what I was asking was, when I plug in my battery, I let it fully charge until my phone says its charged, then I unplug it, wait for 5 seconds plug it back in and it starts charging again for 30 minutes and it Keeps doing the same thing everytime I unplug it and plug it back in
This was how people thought they were "calibrating" their battery. Forcing "juice" into it. Its not healthy. Stop doing it

PLUS, let the battery drain until it is below 10%. Fully charge it (the FIRST time) then let it drain again to under 10%. Take out battery and hold down power for 30 secs then put battery back in and charge it up without turning it on. When full turn it on and see how it goes.
Most if not all modern batteries NEED regular drain to low figures to keep them healthy. Failing to do so causes issues. Also to protect th battery, the software cuts the charge out BEFORE the battery is absolutely 100% charged. Taking it to maximum charge like you have been doing will kill your battery quickly. The software will protect the battery if you charge it up and don't unplug when it gets to 'Charged' but when you unplug it then plug it in again it tries for a new charge - bad for the battery.
So, i bought from eBay a small and cheap battery bank. After charging my phone with it, my device started to reboot now and then. As the time passed, the problem was getting serious, until i wasn't able any longer to turn on my device (the initial logo would appear for a ms and then vanish), even when My device was plugged with the wall charger. I then bought a generic battery, and my device seems to be working fine now (except for the battery meter,which seems not able to get celibrated - after a full charge, it would show 100% for some time, then a fast drop to 80, it would stay there, suddenly then 70, then 40...).
So, I was wondering if you could tell me what did get wrong with my first battery. The battery meter got messed up. After a full charge (battery level 100%), and a reboot, my battery meter was showing no more than 15%, while the voltage was pretty much 4200 mV. From then on my device was rebooting constantly, until I couldn't get it on again...
Now i have this second battery, on which i'm afraid to plug that battery bank, since it could possibly damage the battery.

Get a proper working battery from your friend...let your phone run through a complete charge/discharge cycle..
Completely drain the battery..Connect to wall charger and leave it for 5 hrs..See if it fixes the battery meter..
I suspect the battery bank is giving a over voltage or its not grounded properly...dont use that anymore..
