Hi everyone!
Just decided to share this with you guys.
As my NT had problems maintaining a stable connection with the router, I decided to update the firmware of my NETGEAR router.
That has indeed solved my connection issues on both my NT and also my Blackberry Storm.
However, since the spectrum in my place is pretty much crowded (there are tons of wireless networks around), I have decided to use a different channel (channel 13 on the WiFi router) - But this brought a side effect.
I have just discovered that the Nook is unable to connect to a WiFi network running on channels about 11...
Does anybody know of a way to make th NT be able to use WiFi networks working on Channels 11, 12, 13, 14?
Many thanks,
Gizmo
>Nook is unable to connect to a WiFi network running on channels about 11
US wifi only allows up to 11, unlike EU. Nook is made for US market. If it doesn't connect to 11, use 10. Additional channels likely require kernel mod.
Use below graph to avoid channel overlap. Rule-of-thumb is to use ch 1/6/11 (ie +5 to channel in-use) for non-interference. But in a crowded env, you can use +4 or +3.

NT 1.4.3 supports WiFi channels 1-13
Try the newer B&N firmware. I'm running the Nook Tablet v1.4.3, and it connects just fine to a router on channel 13. No mods were necessary.
You could also DL WiFi analyzer from play and use that to find out which channel is the least congested.

Basically I use my pda for internet browsing and syncing with my personal email while at work.
To make it easier, i want to use a remote control program like MyMobiler. Problem is that when i connect via usb, the pda wants to switch activesync to use the passthrough connection of the pc. The work lan doesn't let me connect like this.
So, is there some way that I can still maintain the gprs connection even when connected via usb?
Some sort of preference of which sevice to use?
Also, anyone know of a remote control software that lets you expand the prophet resolution?
I tried dotPocket but it doesn't seem to work.
thanks.
wooooooooooooohooooooooooooo!!!!
ok, I managed to get this working...
I couldn't find any help on the net but I figured it out myself.
Connect your pda via usb.
Activesync will connect then disable active sync by unchecking "Allow USB Connections" in connection settings on the pc.

Your device will be disconnected.
Then start MyMobiler and select "connect to IP". Enter the ip address as 169.254.2.1.
And voila, remote control of the pda without activesync there fore still using your gprs connection and not work's connection.
Notice the "G" at the top.
And you may say "but now I can't explore my device from activesync..."
That's when I say ... "wait there's more..."
Use mobile explorer from the tools menu in MyMobiler.
Thanks for coming!
sweet, thanks for sharing your tips )
SOTI Controller
Hi,
Why you're not using SOTI Pocket controller pro 6.01? It connects over active sync or over tcp/ip (depending on the profile that you set up) and you can browse your pda and syncronise it with the pc. The synco is much better than the active sync.
Hi guys! I have had the fascinate for quite awhile and never knew it was wifi "N" capable. My phone syncs fine with wifi G, but how do you connect to N? When I go to the wifi options it just sees my "G" network. Before you say have you check to see if the "N" network is being broad casted it already is. My xbox 360 and laptop are sync to the N wifi network. I would assume someone has figured this out because the specs shows wifi 802.11 b/g/n networks. Thanks dudes.
I only run an N network and mine connects no problem didn't do anything fancy. I am using wpa2 instead of wep don't believe that would make a difference since usually anything that will do wpa2 will do wep lol. double check make sure you N network is broad casting at 2.4Mhz range and not 5Mhz. since you say you have both I'm just assuming you have a dual band router and that might the problem. again just assuming there, but the fascinate will not pick up the 5Mhz range

Here is my current wifi settings. I tried disabling just the "G" network and leaving the "N" on. When I rescanned for wifi networks from my fascinate it didn't detect the "N" wifi. Is there a setting some where I'm missing on the phone or in my settings?

Nevermind I think I answered my own question with your previous answer lol. I have the g and n wifi named as "b33zuG" and that's how it shows on my phone. My screenshot for 2.4 shows as b/g/n. But if this is the case how do I know it's the true N network and not G since there both in the same 2.4 bracket?
if is in the 300mbs mode then it's broadcasting the N network because G only maxes out at 54mbs.
SC2.8 WP7 Revolution
also I have the high end 300-300 netgear router and if I enable the 5mhz n-network it won't let me run N on the 2.4 st the same time only lets me either do G 2.4 N 5 our just N on 2.4 so maybe when you have both on your only getting the G?
SC2.8 WP7 Revolution
Yea, I have a dual band router at home and the phone's wifi scan only detects the G.
I have different SSIDs set up and my N network isnt listed...
I'm gonna put it in manually when i get home tonight and see if it does anything but I'm interested if anyone has a solid answer for this
Our phones wont do N in the 5Ghz spectrum, only 2.4Ghz.
I've connected to N at work and it drains my battery faster than anything else that I do to my phone. I am curious if anyone else had experienced this. G is great for battery life

My wifi N network seems yo run fine on my fascinate. Although its mostly on a charger so I can't comment on battery life

Seems like under honeycomb I could connect to my phones tether easily. Did the upgrade last night and now I can't connect. Just sits at obtaining IP address.
I was running a older 2.x build of it, so went to the homepage and tried 5 different versions on 3.x beta.x and none of them helped the situation.
Any others?
sh*t sorry, I don't know how I was in this forum! Please move!
I just moved and my cable and internet has not been hooked up yet so I have been using my phone to tether and it works everytime. I stopped usuing wi fi tehter app it doesnt seem to work anymore. I have been using open garden and it worked last night to update my transformer. Then it connected as soon as it rebooted with no problems.
#1 Love when people post in the wrong place!
#2 When they ask to have it moved afterwards!
You do know you can click the little image that looks like this

That way others do not have to clean up your crap after you
I have already done this for you!
my wifi tether still works

open garden doesnt work either... the prime doesnt even see it as a wifi network
I've been using Bluetooth tethering and it still works after the ICS upgrade.
how do you get bluetooth tethering to work? I can't get it...
n/m i got it using open garden, and it opened up the sprint hotspot thingie and I had to check enable...which is weird...but it works.
I guess screw WIFI tether
I have a rooted Verizon 4G Samsung Charge. Was using Open Garden Wifi with no problem since I received my Transformer Prime.
Wifi Analyzer on Prime finds the wifi network but It doesnt show up at all in Wireless and Network settings. FML

For those using Open Garden Wifi, what frequency channel, transmit power, and LAN network settings are you using?
I have even tried Barnacle now with no luck~!
I have a Droid 2 with mobile hotspot feature. Using Auto-Tether makes it real simple and quick to switch it on remotely from the TP and connect. I've had no problem under HC and still no problem under ICS.
I did a reboot/factory restore on my wireless router couple of days ago and ever since that my phone barely connects to my home wireless network. It keeps saying Network out of range even though I'm right next to the router. Finally after 20+ minutes of waiting, it finds it.
I tried "forget network" and add it back but it's still happening. I got the 'Fix my WiFi" app and no luck. I also tried rebooting. Haven't tried factory reset but I may if this keeps happening.
Is there something wrong with my router settings maybe? My laptop connects fine though.
I think there might be something wrong in this settings for the router.

I had a problem where my WiFi didn't work and had to flash all the away back to 2 variations of stock via Odin. I'm not sure what went wrong, but it probably isn't a problem with your hardware.

Did you wipe Davlik (sp) cache in recovery to see if it fixes the problem?
did you try changing the wireless channel on the router?
Turn on broadcast ssid.

Does it work on any wifi? Try going to a coffee shop and see if you have the same thing.

I have the same problem, But i noticed that while both my Bluetooth and WiFi show nothing found, they both still have MAC addresses and i get notifications about open WiFi networks that i can't see. Oh, and my other Samsung phone cannot see my LG L9 through Bluetooth.
Any 1 have any ideas? I even went so far as to replace the entire antenna flex with a new one. no change. ( I work in a cell phone repairshop Ironically enough)
not working: wifi, BT, radio (P768)

Maybe flash the radios for your models? I know lots of bootloader tutorials have the p769 and metro p769 radio.

Why radio? All doesn't working - radio, BT and WiFi. together.
and there is one chip for all of them.
seems like chip broken.
