Hi, I bought two xperia mini's ST15i's for me and my wife.
We can be in conversation with each other when for no reason the call seems to cut off, sometimes only for a few seconds other times longer, in some cases the calls cuts off and doesn't come back.
This has also happened when speaking with people on other phones on other networks.
My wife and I are on different phone networks so I don't think it is a network problem.
Anyone else experienced this problem?
Thanks and great site, I have rooted my phone using the tutorials in here.
Mark
Make sure both phones are updated with the latest software. Use PC Companion for this. It can be downloaded from Sony Ericsson official website.
If you have old SIM cards you should ask your operator for new ones too. New phones with old SIM card can sometime cause trouble even though the very same old SIM card works fine with an old phone. Strange, I know but I've seen it a lot.

Hi Markus-SEAnswers, we are both on the latest firmware.
I am on 02 and my wife is with 3, I had a new 02 pay go sim card that i got when I bought the new phones.
I put the 02 payg sim into her phone and phoned her, was on the phone for about 4 minutes and didn't cut out once....just had to listen to her nagging
So it seems that this has done the trick, she is going to get a new sim card from 3 and see if that is the fix.
Thanks for your reply.

Hey guys I am not on my third X10 from Rogers. The last replacement I had sent was defective immediately as the screen would slowly go darker and darker (contrast issue) over about an hour until nothing could be read.
I had them send me another one out (total pain).
The new one I recieved is simlocked. No idea why or how, but I put my sim in and it says the thing is locked. My SIM is fine in my other phone and I have never had this problem with any of my replacements. Phone could not be repaired with SEUS as it says no software is available for my phone. I downloaded the flash tool annd flashed it with generic firmware and the same thing happens (although it dosent lock me out, it just says no SIM is in phone).
Anything else I could do to fix this, or is the SIM reader in this POS not working?
Hi, I found an Xperia Mini Pro a couple months back and while owning a HTC Legend, I am quite fond of this mobile.
However the previous owner didn't put much info such as home number or something similar for me to return It so I kept it.
Now one month after that I was unable to make/receive calls or send text messages on that Xperia X10 mini pro. Due to not having some kind of an insurance for the phone, I took it to 3 Mobile shops that claimed that they could "open" the phone and remove this lock.
The prices were different but It didn't matter but none of them were able to fix the phone.
One claimed that the phone was open for two days and fully functional but when I retrieved it, the shop clerk told me that It got disabled again.
So now months later and this phone in my drawer collecting dust, Is there any way to fix this phone?
Custom roms don't seem to do the trick.
I have tried to change the sms communications settings via a hidden menu but nothing.
I still have the old sim card from when I first found it, If it can be of any use now.
Thanks for reading and I hope there is a way to fix this phone.
Seems that your phone IMEI is blacklisted on your operator (maybe due to a request by original owner).
Since there's no easy (and legally) way to change IMEI and you don't have the bill of sale, I don't think you can put your phone online again.
Call your operator and inform you found a phone. Maybe they can find the owner for you and you'll make someone happy.
Regards

Hello, im new here but I have seen over the years that this is the place to come to fix cell phone issues and the such. My issue is this, I have just received an ATT HTC ONE, I bought it off Ebay. The phone itself phisically is in mint condition, but the problem is whenever I put a sim card in it, it just wont read it. Im overseas, I have already bought the unlock code for the phone but I get no chance to enter it because the phone wont detect a sim no matter what I do. I have tries puting several different sim cards and no go, I even had a spare ATT sim card and no go. I have just tried the "tape fix" but the phone wont recognize my sim. Is there anything else that I can try or do? I have flashed phone software in the past (droid dna) so if thats what would take to fix this I would do it. Im overseas and returning this to ebay for a refund would not be an option for me. Any help would be greatly apreciated.
I had the same issue and it solved after they replaced the sim tray, but I bought the phone from ATT so I was under warranty.
You might try to get it repaired there, but they might charge you. Or try buying a replacement sim tray off ebay or amazon (I don't know if they sell it or not)

Sim cards can go bad as well. I would go to an AT&T store and they will replace your sim card for free.
Thanks, I did try several sim cards that I had lying around and none of them worked. I have just gotten of the phone with HTC tech support and they are sending me a replacemente sim tray, hope that fixes the problem. Will have to wait 4 looooong weeks without a phone tough...
It happened to me last night. I restarted my phone and it worked normally. Haven't happened since.
Sent from the "ONE" phone for me
You can buy a new simtray for $2.30
They sell lots of other parts for the HTC One as well.

You might want to flash the stock RUU, might have a bad radio flash or something odd.

Oh..ok.. well I dont think new sim tray would be the solution.
I have two HTC One. And I tried putting the sim tray of working HTC ONE into this one and nothing happened.. same issue.
I have couple queries though : Was ur phone's software modified in any way when u recieved it ? I mean was the phone unlocked, rooted etc ?
If yes, did u tried flashing a RUU on it and see if it solves the issue
So I finally found the solution to my problem.. apparently its something related to sim not aligning properly in the socket.
Tape-fix didnt worked for me too and nor did the RUU. Then I tried something different.. I had my iphone 5's nano sim and put it in a plastic nano-to-micro sim adapter and put that in.. it snug in very tight and hurray, the sim got detected. Got the unlock code and its working now !!!!
With this experiment I think I also found out whats ur issue might be too. We often cut the sim using the sim-cutters which are often not perfectly sized but works with most phones. I suggest either try using my method if u can or get a retail micro-sim from a service provider and try that.. it should work.

Agreed, but it does happen. The last batch of T-Mobile Nexus 4's my company purchased, 2 out of 16 had an issue where the SIM's weren't being read due to pin misalignment issues inside the slot. We were able to replace them.

Did u gt the sim tray yet ?
One more thing - how did u managed to get service from HTC ? Did u paid or its covered under warranty ? As I already mentioned I am in exact same condition as u are and would like to have HTC take a look at this too
Waiting for your reply mate.. Pl do asap.
Just received my Z Ultra Today, and had some issues. Firstly, it was randomly powercycling. The 4.4.4 update seems to have fixed the worst of that.
However, the issue remains that the device will not read a sim card. I've tried four different sim cards from four known working devices and two carriers. It just reads, "Invalid Card- Emergency Calls Only".
I've gone through and repaired it several times using the PC Companion and i've tried several resets as well- nothing.
At my wit's end.
HALP!
Edit: Yes, i do have a valid IMEI. Knowing that, should i return the item to the seller?
I would return it.
Is it new?
Send it to Sony, if you can. Mine was defective, purchased on eBay. Called Sony, sent to repair center in Texas, they paid for shipping. Exactly one week later, device returned. WAS BRAND NEW, IN RETAIL PACKAGING!! ? Totally ? . Writing from it now. My problem was with the headphone ? jack not working at all, and a few other issues . So, I was pleasantly surprised to receive a totally new MOBILE PHONE ? !!

Hello guys,
I live in the Netherlands now and my folks came to visit.
While they were here, they bought an S9+ (SM-965F) for themselves on Belsimpel (on the store) and took it to Brazil.
We asked the guy if the phone was completely unlocked and he said yes, but...
When we were unboxing the phone, it said: "European SIM Only."
We then tried inserting two SIM Cards at the same time, one from Italy (TIM Italia) and another one from Brazil (VIVO Brazil).
In Brazil, we never get asked for PIN/PUK, so when it booted up, we entered the default Italian PIN (0000).
It said it was wrong, so I tried again a couple of times and it did not work at all.
I thought it was weird, but I could call him on the Italian number and that was all I cared for the moment.
Fast forward a few days, they went back to Brazil and..... VIVO does not work.
My father went to a VIVO store and they could not solve it.
He went to a Samsung store, nothing...
He even went to ANATEL (Brazilian Agency of Telecommunications) to see if the IMEI was blocked somehow, it wasn't.
Please help us to get it working with VIVO!
well... solved!
I got him an european SIM card and made a call over 10 minutes to him, that region-unlocked the phone, according to Samsung.
So Sammie are still doing the 5 minutes of calls with a particular SIM before itll work overseas... Well that sucks..
Yea I've heard this regards the Indian version, you've got to use an Indian sim before any other works
It's designed to keep companies from importing large numbers of gray market phones to resell, while still making it possible for individuals to buy a phone in one market and use in another.

Quick question... Did you buy a Dutch sim card (prepaid), send it to him in Brazil and then made a 10 minute phone call to this Dutch sim card in Brazil? And that solved the problem? I bought the same phone also from Belsimpel and have the same problem now in Colombia, even though I made two 5 min calls using a KPN sim card before leaving the Netherlands. But so basically I can borrow a European sim card from someone here , put it in my phone and have someone call me from Europe? Thanks for confirming. Best.

Hi!
I landed him my old italian sim card.
We spoke for about 30 minutes in that call, so I am not sure for how long you should be on the call, but it worked!
Good luck!
Thanks for the reply. As it turned out my phone was not region locked as I had made 12 minutes worth of calls while in the Netherlands, using a local sim card. There might have been an easier solution for you though: I was told by Samsung that they have region unlock codes for such cases. You would simply have to request such code from Samsung in the country where you bought the phone.
My problem was different and had to do with the message "SIM network PIN blocked. Enter SIM network PUK". Unfortunately, neither Samsung nor my Colombian provider could help me. I kept being referred from one to the other. My Colombian sim card would work on other phones so that was not the issue. My phone would not accept any Colombian sim card and it seems it had to do with the registration of phone itself in Colombia. In the end the only solution to unblock my phone was to use an online unblocking service. This worked perfectly. My phone was unblocked and I was then able to register my phone in Colombia without any problems. Shame this has to be so complicated but I am glad to be able to use my phone now.
My phone was bought in the UAE and Samsung Pay app etc doesnt work now that I am based in the UK. Samsung next to useless. Can i resolve this by getting a UAE sim (god knows how i'll do that) and then get someone from within the UAE to call me for say 20 minutes?
Does anyone know that if we do a factory reset then do we need to do this 5 minutes call again?

Wich unlocking services you used? I have the same problem, I live in Argentina
...
I wrote to about 10 of them, some did not reply, some did not come over as trustworthy and some said they could not unlock dual sim phones. In the end I used UnlockBoot. You can chat with them via their site or write to them via. I cannot post links but you will find them after a quick Google search. It cost a bit more than some others (USD 49) but they did it via TeamViewer and it was well worth it. Just a tip: once you get the code I had a long delay when entering each digit: enter a digit, wait, listen for the click, then enter the next. Best of luck!

You are not being a pain in the ass, mate.
You do not need roaming for this as roaming is just for data.
You just need to have enough credits to receive a 30-minute phone call.
I imagine you can get away with a lot less than 30, but we did 30 to make sure we would not have to start over.
Good luck!

There is no need for payments.
All you have to do is receive a call in that number for a number of minutes.
My guess is that 20 minutes would work, but I have done it with 30.
I would talk for 30 minutes with someone on the phone just to make sure it works.
Now... for the call to work, you need to have credits in the UK SIM Card because, even if you are RECEIVING a phone call, you will spend credits because you are receiving a call outside of the country of origin of the SIM card.
If you use your Argentinian SIM card in Europe, you will pay per minute to receive calls too... its just how it works.
So make sure you got around 25-30 pounds (i know, kinda expensive but it is worth it) on the SIM's account and then someone have to call that number.
I would use VoIP to make the call, since it the number is in the UK.
After that, you can shut down the phone and put the Argentinian SIM in.
My father could not believe we cracked this problem after the call.. it is an amazing feeling to finally being able to use your phone like a normal phone.
Good luck, man!
Let me know how it goes!
I'm not sure if it would help somebody. I was also facing this problem with region lock.
I bought a Samsung M30s 128GB (SM-M307F/DS) in India and used just the Wifi while in India. Then I went to Dubai and put in a local SIM card from du.ae and it clearly said region locked. I was not able to call.
After I went back home to Germany, I was leaving the phone switched on without a SIM card inside for a few days and then inserted my local T-Mobile contract SIM and it just works. Was doing several calls yesterday and today without issues. I found it weird because I never removed the region lock.
Maybe it can help someone try something.
