Hi, pls i had an accident with my phone. I spilled a drink on it.
I dried it out, and it works still, but now after booting, the buttons work for a few minutes then stop.
I have to reboot to do anything again. Only the power button works.
What can i do?

How long has it been? I dropped my x10 in a bucket of water, and am sending this to you now. At first the edges of the screen had tiny beads of water and the volume buttons were constantly changing the volume. After three days and the drying techniques of a towel, everything is working fine. Maybe wait a few says and keep it dry. Also it could be the sugar from the drink...
And yes, for a phone with root, button Savior is a good option. Almost ics like
Good luck!

So I'm running beta 4 with new baseband, everything is working beautifully.. except... my hardware keys will just stop working quite often. I have to fiddle with all of the keys (volume, power, and hardware) and eventually they will start functioning again. I've completely wiped the phone, reflashed with SEUS, reinstalled beta 4 and the problem did not subside. I've also tried flashing the latest global generic rom and still no luck. Has anyone experienced this problem? Possibly a hardware fault?

I have the same problem... sometime even the screen wont respond... it happens with every rom or FW i use.
So it's not a software issue.

have you guys dropped your device in some liquid before?
No never, the phone has never been dropped in any way. I guess ill have to flash back to rogers firmware and take it in under warranty.

Ok, this is going to sound stupid, but does this happen when the phone is on some kind of car mount?
I had this happen to me, when I was placing my phone in a car mount, because it was gripped too tight! I guess the camera button was pressed and blocked all other buttons. When I was loosing the grips, it went back to normal. Weird...
Wow you just saved me so much trouble! I thought back to when this started happening and it was around the time I bought a new plastic case for it. It always seemed way too tight.... so I took the case off and it seems to have fixed it. Awesome, thanks for your help! PS love your theme work
Its been over 4 hours and all hardware key problems have vanished Ill be sure to thank you when I get to my computer (can't thank with xda app?)

LOL! I thought I took a long shot there,
but I am really very happy that I helped you!
So out of no where my power button is being very strange. When I press it, it will turn on the automatically turn off I will if i press it again the screen will flash on and then off, it only does this every once in a while, but its very annoying.
At first I thought it was my rom but it does it in recovery as well, I will press the power button and acts as if I double.pressed the button.

My refurb that I received a couple of weeks ago does this as well. Very annoying. I have an upgrade available and the EVO LTE cant get here fast enough.
Add me to the list, mine has been doing it for months.
Same here! I always thought the power button was a little sensitive. I wasn't sure if it was a software issue or a design issue.
Glad to know I'm not alone..
Certainly a hardware issue. Have you seen the size of the power button without the battery cover on? If you press too hard on power often, the button may become super sensitive.
I don't know any solutions. I've experienced it, but rarely.
So if mine gets worse ill take it on for replacement
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
Yay Im not alone! :O Got that issue too.
Mine too. Not rooted
Also when mine does this, 50% of the time the phone will end up rebooting before the screen says on
Power button had been a problem from the beginning, mine is so bad that it almost sits flush with the body and I have to struggle to press it and get it to work. I remember people complaining about it when the phone came out and its a simple mechanical problem.
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
Mine has a similar issue, but it's the volume buttons rather than the power button, where if I press it once, it registers two hits, which was particularly frustrating when I had TWRP 1.0.
It's definitely a hardware issue. My first one had this same issue. My new one doesn't have any problem at all. Switching the back cover doesn't make a difference on the new one. I can't get it to happen at all with it.
For a temp solution you can use leedroid tweaks and set something else besiders the power button to turn the screen/phone on/off. Like vol up, down, or camera button even.
Mine does this aswell, non-rooted

I recently purchased a Motorola Atrix 4G, its my first android phone and its been working well for a while. My fingerprint sensor stopped working after about 3 months of use. it first started taking long to recognize my print and now it just doesnt read. i cant even install a new fingerprint profile coz the sensor just wont read. I hope someone can help me fix this, but remember im still fairly new to the droid world so please run me thru step by step on how to resolve this. Im using Gingerbread v2.3.6.
One other thing, the phone hangs sometimes and restarts itself, anyone know a solution to this too?
Backup your personal data, apps, etc. and make a factory reset from recovery. Solves such problems mostly.

Like i said im fairly new to android. How do i back up my data and all. I knw thia sounds like a dumb question but some guidance would be helpfull.
Sent from my MB860 using xda app-developers app
I would recommend titanium backup for apps, sms backup+ for sms & call log. You can use your google account for contact list backup & recovery.
You can get to the recovery menu by holding power & volume down buttons together during phone's startup.
Sent from my MB860 using xda premium
I need to root my device in order to run titanium backup. Whats rooting & how do i go about it?
Sent from my MB860 using xda app-developers app
It's pretty easy, you should search & read a little in the forums There is also a wiki page for Atrix.
Sent from my MB860 using xda premium
Mine did the same thing. Had to get a replacement from eBay, cost a bit under 20$. Atrix is really easy to dismantle, iFixit have a detailed guide.

I managed to get another app to back up. I did the factory reset in settings but the fingerprint sensor still isn't reading. Or was i supposed to reset it when starting up the phone? Coz when i start up my phone & hold the power & vol down button it says fast boot & when i press the vol up button it says starting fast boot & gets stuck @ that. Suggestions?
Sent from my MB860 using xda app-developers app
Hold power & volume down buttons together until you see that phrase. Press volume down button again till you see the recovery, then press volume up to enter into recovery. That's it.

If you have an International Atrix , you can try flashing Full Firmware Froyo in RSD, and then flashing Gingerbread 2.3.6
It will fix everything. But if you are using an ATT Atrix, you will hardbrick.
The one thing you can do now is a Factory reset.
Greetings,
Try a few other GB ROMs, if the problem persists you may have a faulty finger print reader!!

Yes, you can buy online. Moderately easy, depending on your level of experience. Some gotchas exist.

I was using my phone fine 7 hours ago. Absoblutely fine. I put it in my pocket and left for School.
about 4 hours ago, at lunchtime, i went on it to check XDA.
But here's the thing.
I pressed the power button. Nothing. I presumed that I had turned it off. So I pressed and held the button to turn it on. No vibration. I wasn't bothered because i thought it had just frozen. So I popped out the battery, and popped it back in. Pressed and held. Nothing. i Covered the dim LED at the side of the camera to see if the battery was dead. No LED at all. THEN i got scared.
I have no idea. None, as to what caused it or what i can do. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks Guys!

Hello!,
I'm not sure if I'm posting in the right section but you guys can correct me if I'm wrong and I'll move it to another post.
So here is the case for my Sony Xperia Sola. It fell in water and when I picked it up and turned it on it turned on (bad mistake I know! but that was the first time I ever dropped my phone in water and didn't know what to do in that situation.) it seemed fine but I was still worry. I took out my Sim and SD card and let it dry for an hour. After an hour I turned it on again and it seemed fine so I just left it alone. I never turned off the phone though just for clarification, which I should have after many research but it was too late. Next day I tried turning it on again and it won't power on just a black screen. Then I put the charger on it and the red L.E.D. came on. So I thought the battery was just low tried again to power on but still a black screen. Am I at a total loss here? Can anything be done to save my phone I love this phone and I just had it for 2 months. Maybe a fried battery by chance?
The first thing you should do when a electronic device falls in water is to put it in a jar filled with rice, the rice will absorb water but I guess it's too late to tell you that. If you have still locked bootloader and warranty you could try going to assistance. Hope you solve the problem

I heard this from a friend who has tried this with success, immediately put the device in a container filled with alcohol. It repels the water and does not harm electronics. Remove the battery of course.... Let dry... Should work fine.

Yeah, That's what I thought too. Heard that you can't remove the battery, but is it possible to take it apart to find the battery inside? Not a good idea but why not right, phone isn't turning on so minus well. Do you think it could be a fried battery? My front l.e.d. light comes on so any possibility there?
If led turns on I don't think it's battery problem, maybe screen doesn't work cuz water did something there.
You actually can take out battery some how but then it loses warranty

My brother just had this happen. A repair technician told him to take the phone apart and clean the corrosion off of the contacts throughout the phone. You can see it. He did, and the phone is fine now....

My brother didn't remove either. I think because alcohol evaporates very quick. He put his whole phone in the container. Later, after it dried, the phone worked. Maybe it was a fluke......

It's okay I didn't even buy warranty for the phone. So I'm at a dead end here only option left is to take it apart and see if I can do anything to it.
