theme caused adw to force close, how to fix - Motorola Photon 4G

I have CM7 installed and have been running the ICS Theme for ADW by Kodev, and it recently had an update, i ran the update and right after ADW keeps force closing, and i cant get the phone to do, well anything.. I restored via an old Nandroid of an empty CM7 and installed it again and it crashed again. Is there anyway to fix this?? Or a way i can get ahold of an older version that will work. I made a nandroid backup before restoring and im hoping i can somehow restore back to that and fix it with someones help becasue i have settings and stuff that i haven't backed up. If anyone can help me thatd be great, or know of an ICS themes for ADW becasue i absolutely loved that one.

I was able to get it fixed, the dev pushed an update and only way i was able to receive it (get into market) was to push another launcher(i used golauncher) and install it via adb so that you would be able to get to home screen without force closes. Im sure most of you know the command but if not here it is, "adb install <path_to_apk>"

awesome thanks......

trying to update laucherpro???

hey people newbe here i am trying to update laucherpro but it wont let me, some people have responded but i am still confused.... i tried root explorer but i dont see it in there and when i try to uninstall it from the applications the uninstall button is dark any solutions?? also i get forceclosed with launcherpro when i first start up my phone i was hoping to update to take care of that problem thanks for helping
Are you running a theme that has LauncherPro included in it? If so, you'll need to delete it from /system/app and then restart before being able to update. Make sure you have another launcher installed before deleting it though.

Market 2.2.11 force close

I can't for the life of me get the Android Market to launch using VEGAn-Tab. The setup of the ROM goes fine, but when I try to launch the app it force closes immediately - no chance to even put in my Google info.
I've tried making a backup from my phone, I've tried downloading both the APK for 2.2.11 and the zip to flash from the internet, I've tried the file included in this thread which apparently helped someone else. I also tried changing permissions on the Vending.apk file to 777 (yes, extreme), even tried another version - 2.2.6 I believe. I've tried the clear cache and uninstall update "fixes" but considering I've never been able to launch this app those aren't available options.
What can I do? It works on other ROMs but CM isn't really tablet ready and I'm not a fan at all of TnTLite.
Bump.
Spent the last couple days trying to recover from bricking my tablet so I've been ignoring this thread, but I've got it running again. I would REALLY like to run VEGAn-Tab, but without this fix I'm going to have to throw in the towel and use another ROM.

[Q] Need Help

So I recently rooted my Photon and in all the excitement I uninstalled swype and installed swype 3. Well I didn't back it up like I wanted to so now I lost it. I would like to get it back just in case becuase I am getting FC with swype 3 and I would rather not do a hard reset if I don't have to. So question is anybody on here have the photon themed swype apk file?

Try this. Download the CM5 from Yay's thread in the dev thread. Using 7zip remove everything from the package except the swype apk
I had the same FC issues, and the recommendation in the post above will work like a charm. I grabbed it from the system dump that is posted but CM5 should work just as well.
If you really want Swype 3.+ You can wait for an update which they say is coming soon but we will see lol. Otherwise if you search around you can find a stand-alone version that will install without the swype-installer app and work like a charm. I couldn't figure out the FC issues for the beta and that was the only way I could get Swype 3 to work.
So that you don't loose the original you can put it back in the /system/app/ folder and rename it to swype.bak and you'll still be able to install swype 3. Then if you need the orginial back to return your phone or whatever just uninstall swype 3 and rename that file to swype.apk
that did it thanks alot

Text Messaging App Missing After Adding RAZR M Launcher(Circle Widgets)

i posted this over @ driodrzr.com i am hoping the more eyes see it someone can help me out,
I had this running fine on ICS. Upgraded to JB then while i was re installing all of the RAZR M Things i installed the Text Messaging App with out backing up the old one first. Now the App is missing in the dock. I used root explorer to go to system app and it is not there.I tried to install the app as a normal program but that did not work.I copied it over with RE and set permissions then installed but not go there also. i have not tried use adb not sure how to use that. I have been reading into it. I am lost i have tried everything i know how to do. Please help me out i am loosing my hair trying to figure out this issue. Thanks in advance. anyone have any questions about this jsut ask and i will give me more info.
Anyone with any ideas be JB on RAZR here.
I did the same thing messing with the Razr M stuff - should have never went after that carrot. Anyway, the only way I could fix it was to flash back to ICS (which does not boot), but you can get into recovery to do a factory reset, and then reapply the JB update. The only problem....you WILL lose root! But at least your phone will be 100% functional.
Thanks for telling me i will try that when a root comes out for JB. I have root now and i am using a 3rd party text app for now. Not ideal but it works

[Q] Default keyboard gone, can't get past encryption

So I went a little app uninstalling crazy after rooting my phone while trying to get rid of the Verizon bloatware. One of the things I uninstalled was the default keyboard and now I'm having some trouble.
My work email requires the phone to be encrypted, but when I do that I can't get past boot encryption! I have no keyboard showing up anymore.
I've factory reset the phone a few times and don't have the list of things I uninstalled anymore, dumbass move I know.
Does anyone know the name of or have a link to the default keyboard that comes installed? Or know how to get a keyboard to show up on the boot encryption?

Installed and just added encryption and still no keyboard at boot :crying:
I'm thinking I might just return the phone today since I got it very recently.
Just an fyi, in the future use titanium backup, our something similar to, to freeze the apps not delete them. That way if you mess something up you can just unfreeze them. I suppose you're also on me7?
You could Odin back to stock and then re-root. I'd think that would fix the issue.
Try to Odin back to stock like wolfgrrl said and don't forget a nandroid backup,backup,backup..,lol
Don't Odin that's a waste of time. I did the same thing. Just download a ROM that is not themed and pull the SamsungIME.apk file then push to system apps via root explorer. Set permission then reboot. Super simple. I have an apk for it. Just pm me and I'll send you a drop box link.
