dear all...
forgive this newbie stupidity...
i really need to ask concerning some issues...
does this phone really have 512MB of RAM?
i checked in running application between used and free it come up only about 300's MB of RAM...
and secondly...i got an issue concerning sms...when the phone was on for several hours and i did multitasking this phone sms became lag and i can't do anything, typing, opening or else and when this happen the software will always tell me to "force close" or "wait"...if i click wait the lag continued...and then ask me again the same: "force close" or "wait"...so i click force close...
the only way to stop the lag is turn it off and then on again...
is there anybody got the same issue as i am?
need help...
thanx all...

Here we go again.... this has been answered a zillion times. The Android OS uses a part of the ram in order to run. Thus you get 300 total RAM, because the other 200 is reserved from the system.

okay...i'll try the app...thx,bos... anyway...ane dari bogor,gan... hehehehe...thx yak...
Another matter discussed a zillion times... You DONT need a task manager in 2.3.x... Instead its worse having one... The running applications list may be full of apps you havent been using or dont want. But they arent consuming your "real" RAM. Apps are there running in the background for a reason. Maybe the OS has some unfinished business with those apps so it has stored them in the RAM, without them actually using any resources from your phone. When it has done what is needed, the OS closes those apps. By using a task manager you force close an app that has been queued to be shut down at a specific moment, thus forcing the phone to actually recall the application and redo the whole procedure from scratch.
The laggy issues you are having are possibly due to some issues with the messaging app. I reccomend you backup your data and re-install the official FW.

and i always have around 100 MB Free RAM and i get no lags at all
Though this mobile says it has 512 MB RAM,it has 335 MB Usable for other apps and other is used by system as per my knowledge.

I've been using the mini running 2.1 for about 2 weeks now. At the start I noticed considerable lag while sync or while heavy multi tasking. This simple way made my phone give a quadrant score of 570 without JIT.
* Install titanium backup
* Freeze every unused applications
* restart
Your so called lag will definitely vanish.
Removing apps is kinda bad to the file system because some apps will depend on the other for a service. Freezing just makes the app unresponsive and takes it out of memory completely.
Have fun. Post the result. Those who have already removed apps , ignore !

Thanks. Works really well. Only problem is still my lag in my msg app. Do you know which system processes we can freeze?

I read you have +7000 messages... i dont think you can reduce lag with that... you will need to delete
How can you freeze your unused AppS? I can not do that.
Whew almost repaired again, me and my stupid impulses..
Just to clarify, the apps that I would most likely freeze would be the same as those listed as safe to remove on the other threads?
I haven't really removed applications from my ROM, as my TB doesn't show me an option to restore an app once its been removed [though it has a backup]
Hence my 4th, most recent, repair >_<
warning i did this earlier and froze something that stopped the market from working, i unfroze everything and now i still get force close when i open the market
Specifically which apps did you freeze?
Can't remember but i know i did some google ones, i didnt think freezing them could mess up my phone
did you reboot the phone after unfreezing.
Yes many times, I have removed a few apps before I tried this maybe freezing them caused some kind of error?

I also get random system restarts on mine. I don't know what's the cause because it's intermittent.
I can not launch market, neither sync my Google acount. I have unfrozen everyapp, but no solution. Please help!!!!
i had the same problem! google apps stop working after being frozen and still dont work after being defrosted the only way i found to fix it was reinstall the firmware
Just out of interested. I have like 545MB free with hardly anything open, is that okay?
564mb free when idle most of the time which is more than enough.
i got about 560MB free. i think its OK..
you can try removing services that are not being used or needed.

not possible thats the amount of RAM available after the Android System usage. Everyone has that. Using a system tool such as Android assistant to find the actual free RAM after all the background services , etc
unless i am wrong and lightening ROM is a miracle

347 MB free on stock KE5
About 540 RAM available. Got a problem with my browser though, it isn't RAM-related though. Something wrong with the browser in VillainROM 1.4
I can't multitask. Well I can only multitask with a few and that are:
Standard music player
Whatsapp
Hotmail
But with other apps I can't like with the standard webbrowser.
How can I make multitask possible?

Hello, jan2426
Are you tried kinds of multitask apk already ?
For example Smart Task Switcher or Task Switcher or MultiTask Manager or ...
Maybe you can multitask to using more handiness.
However, You have to keep "Free ram space" in mind. Because our device doesn't have enough capacity of ram
So If you open alot of apk, device to be slow and to be unstable and get freeze or be restart sometimes.
Anyway, be careful with multitask

Thanks for your reply.
Although it was not totally what I was searching for.
But I also guess there will be no app for it, its just in the custom rom.
The only thing what I actually want is that he doesn't close the standard browser (shouldn't take that much RAM I guess, of course depends on how many tabs you have open).
This should be more a request for the newer version of the custom ROM in place from a question.

This hurts a bit in my heart though, especially for the big x10's.
I will need to learn to life with.
It isn't a big deal although it would be a bit better if I could multitask.
Atleast still thanks for your response, I know now atleast where I deal with.

I just curious about ram usage on my x10 using feralabs rom for locked bootloader.
If I go to settings---applications---running services it says 168 used and around 20-25 free MB but as far as I know user available ram is 287 MB.
Also, go launcher ex shows around 240/287 MB used ram.
what else is using my ram? and why difference in settings and go launcher ram info?
Its normal mate... When I owned a xperia x10... Faced the same issue... But later came to know it was OK!

Install an app ZDbox, it has great widget called task killer. When you tap it, it will show running apps.
Or if you want extra and complete control even with system running apps, the install OSmonitor, it will show completely all of apps.

Hi. I recently posted on this forum coz I always only had 120 free MBs and my smartlhome started to go pretty slow without any reason. When I was typing on whatsapp it suddenly closed, I couldn't send any instant camera pictures because camera suddenly closes too, etc...
So I decided to root my phone and uncheck the 2 options of MLT Test (Enable option and USB depurate option) and seems like I get more free mbs but now the RAM it started to get short again, Im still gettin 150mbs again and thats annoying....
There is any solution ti fix this? Im using Clean Master too.
Greetings.
Ps. I got an app of my Phone Company and I dobt know how to unibstall it, it is desactivated but I couldnt find thr way to erase it, I've tried many explorers but didn't show up.

Disable mlt is always a good way of gaining a little more ram, also the longer you have your phone running, the more it'll start lagging. So restart it for at least every time you charge it again. Also a bit more than that. Clearing caches isn't always the right solution, due to the fact that your phone has to load everything again, and it is sometimes quicker if you already have the apps cache there as the app will start quicker. If you have a lot of your apps running in the background, messenger, Facebook etc which are quite heavy when it comes to taking up ram, either delete them, or find apps which automatically close certain apps you choose yourself, and remove them from starting on boot.

Completely forgot to mention, if you go into developer settings, then there should be a ProcessStatics or something, it's also called geeky stats, in there it tells how the memory status is, which is the thing managing ram and so on, you can click on every app and see how much it uses and so on, its quite handy. And I'm not sure about the temperature, it doesn't sound alarming so it should be fine
