[Q] safe mode boot on CM7 - Motorola Photon 4G

Is there anyway to make my phone go into safe mode(no third party apps start) while running CM7? It would greatly help me right now becasue im stuck with a never ending force close of adw. I found directions on how to in general for the photon which are, Power the phone up. When you see the Dual core screen count to 3 then press both volume buttons. Then keep holding until you see safe mode on lock screen after Now screen. But when i try this it doesn't do anything for me. Is it not compatible with CM7? Or is there a different sequence?

Safe mode?

Did anyone know that our phone had a safe mode to them?
The only real safe mode is keeping it in the drawer and not touching it...
This is for the Galaxy S
If you run in to problems, you may want to try to boot the phone into Safe Mode so you can undo whatever was done to cause the problem.
1. Power the phone off.
2. Turn the phone back on while pressing and holding the Menu button.
3. Keep holding the Menu button until the Home screen loads. The lower-left corner should say Safe Mode.
Once you’ve removed the offending app, you’ll want to boot normally. To do so, pull the battery from the device, then replace it. The next time you start the phone, it should no longer be in Safe Mode.
FYI I have never had to do this.........
Hope that helps,

[TUT] Safe Mode

Mini PRO only
Shutdown the phone
Start the phone
W8 until the boot animation starts
Press power button+middle button + left button

if you didnt do a backup on xrecovery and if you install an app that may cause malfunction to the os. You can enter on "safe mode" and you can fix that.
i think it can help devs too... we need to explore the "Safe Mode"
well that's cool but its just something which does not allows me to play games and has dirty watermark of safe mode..! nothing much found..! dev people may try to **** around the kernel thingy! it might allow to change or edit it!
can it be used to reset setcpu settings in case of boot/crash loops due to overclocking too high? if so i can see this being useful to anyone who checks 'set on boot' option and has problems...maybe?
would solve alot of 'keeps crashing' problems people complain about
Tried this on CM7 v14.5 by slade86 on my X10MP. Booted, saw the safe mode watermark, then it automatically rebooted. It wouldn't even let me unlock the screen.
One question: because my phone's vibrator dont work, how many secs i must push the buttons?
Thanks anyway...
Thanks for the tip.
I see that some people are complaining that is not useful, it might not be for them, but you never know if it won't help other, and it's always nice to know what soft is capable, like the engineering or hidden menus.

Safe Mode

I didn't know Safe Mode existed until I called HTC today. Basically, the tech support told me that safe mode disables all 3rd party apps, which is pretty useful if you need to determine whether an app is screwing up your phone. While in safe mode, you can still call, text, and use data.
To access safe mode:
1) Completely power off your phone
2) Turn it on
3) On the HTC splash screen (or your own custom splash screen) hold down Volume Down
4) Keep holding it down until phone boots up completely
5) Phone should vibrate and should say "Safe Mode" on the bottom left corner
Sorry if this is old news. I did a search and didn't find anything on this topic.
While I'm at it, I'm just going to throw in a question. The reason why I called HTC is because my phone randomly restarts or turns off. When it turns back on, I get a gray battery icon. Does any one know about this issue? PM me your answers to keep this thread clean. Thanks!

Booting into safe mode

power off the phone and remove the battery for a few seconds and then put it back in. Press your power button and after the phone screen turns on press and hold the volume down button until the phone boots up. It should enter safe mode and display some text near the bottom of the screen.
This loads the phone without any Play Store apps active.

That's the way it was on the Droid Incredible 2. On the original Dinc, it was Volume Down + Optical joystick. You don't have to remove your battery to do this, though, or even turn the power off. A simple restart works.

lol. I wish. Safe mode, as in a desktop operating system, lets you enter the OS without allowing problems plaguing your system from apps or other things generally causing problems. You can uninstall apps or change settings to fix issues. If you're overclocking with an app like SetCPU and having problems, it lets you boot into the OS without the overclock which may be causing the issues. If the overclock is built into the kernel or set before boot, you'll have to find another way.

[Q] HTC Droid will not let me exit Safe Mode

Okay, so I was wondering if there's a way around Safe Mode or an alternative way to get out of it. Whenever I reset my phone, or just power it off, once I reboot it, it goes to the white screen where it lists Fast Boot, Recovery, etc. but the phone will not let me select anything. It seems when I hold the Volume up key while rebooting it, it lets me go into Safe Mode. Can anybody help me out, please? This is really frustrating and I still really like this phone.
