I didn't know Safe Mode existed until I called HTC today. Basically, the tech support told me that safe mode disables all 3rd party apps, which is pretty useful if you need to determine whether an app is screwing up your phone. While in safe mode, you can still call, text, and use data.
To access safe mode:
1) Completely power off your phone
2) Turn it on
3) On the HTC splash screen (or your own custom splash screen) hold down Volume Down
4) Keep holding it down until phone boots up completely
5) Phone should vibrate and should say "Safe Mode" on the bottom left corner
Sorry if this is old news. I did a search and didn't find anything on this topic.
While I'm at it, I'm just going to throw in a question. The reason why I called HTC is because my phone randomly restarts or turns off. When it turns back on, I get a gray battery icon. Does any one know about this issue? PM me your answers to keep this thread clean. Thanks!

Did anyone know that our phone had a safe mode to them?
The only real safe mode is keeping it in the drawer and not touching it...
This is for the Galaxy S
If you run in to problems, you may want to try to boot the phone into Safe Mode so you can undo whatever was done to cause the problem.
1. Power the phone off.
2. Turn the phone back on while pressing and holding the Menu button.
3. Keep holding the Menu button until the Home screen loads. The lower-left corner should say Safe Mode.
Once you’ve removed the offending app, you’ll want to boot normally. To do so, pull the battery from the device, then replace it. The next time you start the phone, it should no longer be in Safe Mode.
FYI I have never had to do this.........
Hope that helps,
Pretty much my phone wigged out started flashing between the lock screen and the keypad to unlock, so i took the battery out and it resolved the problem, but let to another. In which my phone is now stuck in safe mode and i can not get out of it for the life of me, ive done everything, called tech support and motorola but they told me to do everthing i already did, so they are sending me a replacement, but my question is there any other way to fix the problem besides, factory reset/data wipe, power down power on holding vol up and down etc.
What is safe mode
What is on the screen
all the normal screens it just has a tab in the lower left hand corner that says safe mode, doesnt allow you to use and apps, well downloaded apps, you can boot into safe mode by powering down and then powering on by holding down vol up and vol down and power button, and they told me to that to see if it would take it out of safe mode but it didnt happen
Hi,
I have an HTC Mozart with 7.10.8107.79. It's got this annoying feature or lack of feature...how do I know when the handset is on or off? I mean I go into a meeting and want the phone off, I hold down the power button, slide down the screen, it's off. I'm then late for my second or third meeting and I rush into the room... I need to know if the phone is off so I don't start ringing... how do I know if it's on or off? If I press the power button the handset starts the rather long power on and I have to wait...and then power down. Surely it should be press and hold, press two buttons, or press twice, or anything that confirms I want to turn the handset on? It really is crazy if this is how it's supposed to function.
Like if i'm in a presentation and the speaker says Please check all phones are off...and then i'm there frigging about ripping the battery out.
It also acts weird when it's charging. I turn it off...it turns itself back on. I'm not as fussed at that but it's still crazy.
I couldn't find anything on internet about this, or an app of some kind. Does it upset others? Is it a possible enhancement for the phone??
Turn it off
Take the Battery out

There's no smilie but i assume you're joking
A more appropriate response would be:
1. Turn it off
2. Get a phone that's fit for purpose
If there was an app that started when the phone was turned on and turned the phone off if a confirmation tap or code wasn't entered by user, I think it would be very useful and popular.
Okay, so I was wondering if there's a way around Safe Mode or an alternative way to get out of it. Whenever I reset my phone, or just power it off, once I reboot it, it goes to the white screen where it lists Fast Boot, Recovery, etc. but the phone will not let me select anything. It seems when I hold the Volume up key while rebooting it, it lets me go into Safe Mode. Can anybody help me out, please? This is really frustrating and I still really like this phone.
Guys i was in my settings a few minutes ago and i came across a feature which enabled me to open up my notifications by just tapping the screen so i enabled it and went to the homescreen to test it! Upon tapping the screen the phone started maing a beeping noise and a blue line started scrolling continously downward on the screen! I cant turn the phone off ! I only seem to be able to reboot it which doesnt help! I needto power the phone off i assume and then maybe do a hard reset??? Advice needed please
anyone?
What setting did you access I don't believe anybody will be able to help if we don't know where you went and what you changed. The things you mention are very vague and don't really paint a picture of what is happening.
Also if you want to turn the phone off without using the on screen settings just hold onto the power button for about 10 seconds it should turn off, after that hold power, home button, and volume up to go into recovery to reset or what ever it is you please.
Also is it showing you an X and Y axis? If so then you just go into settings, developer settings, show screen updates and turn that off the grid should go away. I am not sure what your issue is but that seems like the most likely option.
