[Q] new kernel old rom - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi can i flash old rom(rom for android 2.3.3) on new kernel?
2) how i can flash the old bootloadr to reset my counter?

you first have to flash the old rom then the new kernal on top of the old rom.
older roms come with older bootloader as part of the rom so you can use the isb jig to reset.

ray: how to get back to real Stock firmware?

hey,
i flashed cyanogenmod on my ray.. but after all u flashed the stock rom again from this forum (ftf via flashtool).
the thing is that SE companion software says (if i want to update /repair my firmware) that the firmware is modified and it wonmt update it. now my question: do i now always have to flash the new roms (for example when ICS will come) or is there a method to get back to the real stock rom so that SE companion will update/repair the firmware?
im on android 2.3.4. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1316070)
its rooted and the kernel is still the one from the cyanogenmod (i think- well, i didnt flash any new kernels after cyanogenmod..just flashed the rom)
bootloader is unlocked
hope you can help me..thx
yes after unlocking bootloader you always have to install stock firmwares via flash tool
use wotan server , it is a great way to install stock rom
hmm okay thanks! .. btw is there a way to lock the bootloader again so i can install the firmware with SE again?
thanks for the tip!

Noob question regarding basebands

Hello,
I have a stock froyo rom installed, so I have an old baseband. That is clear.
If I install a stock ginger rom using the LG official updater, will it update the baseband as well?
thanks
The Stock GB ROM from LG comes with the new Baseband.
Update to GB through LG updater and you'll automatically update to the new Baseband.
If you do not want to update baseband, you can still root froyo, flash a custom recovery, use the baseband fix and try out any of the custom GB or ICS roms from this forum.
Keep a nandroid froyo recovery as a backup, just incase you choose to go back to the froyo rom.

[Q] How do I get from my old ROM/firmware to the latest firmware safely + newer ROM?

I haven't updated my phone in over 7 months. Baseband version 1.00.20.0913_3, which appears to be old. I see warnings on installing new firmware without flashing intermediate versions. I'm using custom ROM stock with Goodies 2.10.
How do I get my phone up-to-date on firmware and using a newer custom ROM without brickage?

[Q] Flashing CM 10.1 on Verizon Note 2

Hey guys. I've been on the "Beans" rom forever (Build 21) and starting to have some issues so wanna try flashing a new rom. I have the Verizon Note 2 rooted with unlocked bootloader (Never took the OTA that locked it) so I have Android 4.1.2 at the moment with VRAMC3 Baseband version. What do I need to do if anything before flashing CM 10.1? Do I need to upgrade firmware or anything? I heard you can brick if you flash a newer rom without upgrading your firmware first? I believe CM10.1 is Android 4.2 so I'd be going from 4.1.2 to 4.2 so I dunno. I'm also using an older version of TWRP as my recovery. Should I download the latest TWRP and flash that first? It's been a while since I did any fancy stuff with my phone just wanna make sure I don't mess it up. Thanks in advance everybody
