So I used the rezound like a typical day and it ran out of juice. I went back to charge it. Took a nap and woke up to find that my phone was restarting a few seconds after booting up (maybe 20 seconds). The only way I could get it to stop restarting was by taking out the sim card but the moment I put it back it, the phone would restart by itself in the same manner as before. Should I just bring it to a store?
Yeah, shut it down, do a battery pull and reboot. If you are still experiencing the problem, time to take it in to Verizon.
Try a hard reset. Maybe flashing a stock Ruu.

another route...
take the battery cover off... if it boots fine, make sure LTE/cdma is enabled, and put the cover back on. Still a problem, investigate running apps while the cover is off and remove them... Worth a shot. But bring to the store of course if you're fed up with tinkering.
Ended up doing a factory reset. Really wanted to avoid that route but its better than taking it back to the store. Weird how it happened all of a sudden though. I really want to figure out what caused it. I think the only thing i haven't used before yesterday was an app called CamScanner but it took the pictures fine and everything. Anyone got any ideas?

This has happened to me twice now since getting the phone. Can't figure out what causes it and the only way to stop if from rebooting is to do a factory reset. Hopefully they will release an update or something because I'm sure that it's just a software bug.

Tellin' ya, This has happened to me more than once now, and I never had to hard-reset...
I just took off the battery cover and it booted fine (just no signal), and re-enabled LTE/CDMA mode. For me it's been consistently around that being on or off during a reboot.
Hasn't happened in a few weeks now though, as I've just kept it on lte/cdma because why not, it's faster
I bought my phone Saturday and it has frozen 3 times on me. The three times it has frozen I was exiting dolphin browser and stayed at the boot screen. I had to do a battery pull to restart. I have not temp rooted. It happened the night I got it and hasn't happened since.
I haven't had what you're experiencing, but a lot of times ill be in the middle of doing something simple when all of a sudden the phone will freeze up... after a few seconds it'll start to be responsive again, but it'll do this "sloe motion" thing for a second or two, then go back to normal.
and that's how you write a run-on-sentence.
so far so good on my phone. Only time I've had to do a battery pull was a rogue app (super statusbar) making my touchscreen unresponsive. Emailed the dev, never did hear back...
My phone too. I've noticed it mostly when I have to reply to texts.

First time it happened to me I was messing around with some stuff while temp rooted, but then I did a factory reset and haven't temp rooted since then. So the second time happened was just this morning and all I did was install HD Widgets, since it was only .10 cents today and after it installed, it didn't show up in my widgets list so I rebooted. Then it just got caught in a boot loop. As soon as it came up enough for me to see the lock screen, it would sit there for a few seconds and then it would reboot again.

I'll have to try this. I normally just have mine set to CDMA only because LTE uses more battery but maybe you're right. I did notice that when mine kept rebooting, it would get to the lock screen and appear to be froze up and it did not have a signal. So yeah, maybe it does have to do with not having it set to LTE/CDMA.
I have not been using the temporary root at all

Never attempted temp root on the rezound and won't do so until s-off. I will try the cdma/lte toggle trick next time I'd it happens though
I had a reboot sometime today while the phone was in my pocket. I didn't know about it until I checked battery use and noticed the tell tale blank line. The really odd thing... after the reboot the battery showed at least a 15-20% drop.

Hi there.
Getting kind of worried and irritated at the same time. My phone has recently been turning itself off and it seems the only way I can get it back on is removing the battery and putting it back in. Lock button doesn't work to turn it on. This happened a few days ago when I was sitting by a fire so I thought it might be the heat, but even then, my phone heats up often if I'm playing games etc. it also happened just a moment ago when my phone was just laying on the floor.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Anyone..?
charlimit
And what ROM might you be using? Stock or a custom one? Giving a little info never hurts

Dunno what a lock button is, but when you say the phone turns itself off, are you sure it hasn't just frozen? Next time it happens, press and hold the power button for about 8 seconds. If there is something still alive in the phone it should turn off/reboot without having to remove the battery.
And yes, lots of others have seen this type of behaviour. I have personally seen this freeze, "slow" reboots and "fast" reboots. Lots of threads out there about this type of stuff. I have no idea why it happens. I don't even know if its a hardware or software (app or OS) problem. And I don't think anyone else knows either ...
My phone was returned for replacement 1 week ago and it now appears to have been sent for repair / investigation / lost (take your pick).
I'm on stock rom by the way
I have the same problem. It started a few weeks ago. I had about 4 reboots/shut offs per day.
About one week ago it just stopped.
I haveno idea why it started or stopped.

i have the same problem right now, at first i believe that because i havent set a lock, maybe my phone turn off in my pocket by accident, but today it happens again just over my desk..... curious????
Alright, so this phone is becoming extremely frustrating.
The very first day i got the rezound I had it for literally five hours right from the store and I figured i would restart it to freshen things up after messing around with setting up my home screens.
Upon my phone turning back on, it booted up to the lockscreen... froze... turned itself on and then restarted itself and it LOOPS... it does NOT get past this point it bootloops the process
So I pulled the battery a few times, then did a factory reset in hboot and the problem fixed itself, so I gave it the benefit of the doubt and thought maybe it was just a fluke so i reset everything back up... now three days later... I restarted the phone... upon turning it back on... SAME THING... BOOTLOOPING for no reason
I have never tried to temp root my phone or do anything whatsoever. This is a 100% legit phone but its becoming extremely annoying. Im returning this thing to VZW tonight and exchanging it for another one but im torn between exchanging it for a different rezound or just straight up returning it and waiting for the nexus december 8th to come out.
There have been ALOT of reported problems with this phone from my bootlooping... dead pixels... horrible battery life... etc
Dont reboot it anymore. There is an app in the market called fast reboot.when you need to freshen the phone just push the icon and it wiill get all the free memory in about 10-15 seconds.

im supose to be locked into a phone for the next 2 years that i cant reboot because it bootloops?
I have seen several people with boot-looping issues.
I'm not one of them and I don't think it is rampant with this phone. As for dead pixels and horrible battery life - those issues are even fewer and far between.
I wouldn't say there have been ALOT; probably a normal percentage of definite defective units mixed with people being unfamiliar with "how things work" on a phone like this.
..... my $.02
yeah im returning it at VZW tonight for a new unit... if the second one has any issues at all that have been described on this forum so sorry i gave them two chances... returning and waiting for nexus
You also gotta realize your hearing about a ton of issues with the phone, because only people with issues are posting about it. The other 90% that dont have issues arent posting.
Anytime a new phone comes out about 10% of them are duds with the same problems you are describing. When the nexus comes out their forum will be full of threads about problems with that phone. Read thru the android forums and no matter what the phone, you will see complaints about the phone. i have been reading them for years.

I had the phone for about 7 hours three have been fighting loops. My temporary solution is to disable LTE and put my standard size battery in the device ? I don't know why, but I have a hunch that my specific device may be verry sensitive to heat issues.
I called Verizon and they show the boot cycling a known issue and that it was submitted to HTC.
The phone does not seem overly hot to Me so my hunch could be wrong

Ok here's what I did. I shut down, removed the 4G sim and rebooted. It fully booted with no cell service of course. I went into the LTE switch and set it to CDMA auto. I shut down, re-inserted sim, booted up and it's working. Not sure if all that was necessary, but that's what I did...

Bootloops = Heat
In my experience, Bootloops are a result of heat. The phone heats up (or the radio heats up), the phone reboots on the thermal warning, but the bootup time is not nearly long enough to cool down a phone that hot, so once the OS (or kernel) loads to the point where it starts checking for thermals, it sees a heat issue, and reboots.
I have this on my DInc which I was hoping to replace with a Rezound because of these bootloops, but of course I am going to have sit and see if this subsides (or what the Nexus people say) because ...
... you are right, you do NOT want a phone for 2 years which bootloops when you use it for 15 minutes. It is hell.
What is causing all the heat on your phone ??

I asked and called Verizon again. I found someone with a little more info.
it seems that an above average amount of devices where sent out with a corrupted OS.
The corrupt Rom is having issues with its signal acquisition and causing issues.
its heating up from consistently trying to cycle thru signal acquisition etc etc.
I kinda believe they have nailed the issue- as we booted up the device with no back cover on,and bam!- a perfect phone that functions without the reboots ( Obviously no signal),but it works.
I have a replacement coming Tuesday.
Hmmm i think mine has something like that. BUT i dont do it so much.
Had the same issue with mine last night. Removed Sim disabled all network services and replaced Sim and it worked when I enabled networks again. Mine has been set to cdma only also. I think it might be an issue when authenticating with Verizon that somehow crashes the phone.

Let's hope that is the problem since I haven't had it and would hate to see it be a hardware problem. That is something that can be fixed with an update. I think phones are getting to thin for their own good. Cases problem don't help either.
For what it is worth, my phone is charging, streaming music, and I'm on the internet with auto brightness on. The temp is reading 100F. When I first got it, I was trying to kill the battery so I streamed Netflix over 4g and it got warm but never rebooted. Hope they figure this out for y'all.

I got stuck bootlooping related to the fb chat widget. As soon as it would load, sense would restart and after 10-20 the phone started rebooting.
Non stop. I got it to boot with battery cover off (no reception).
Cover on, it would restart as soon as the lock screen was up.
Battery pull, no help.
So I did a battery pull, guessed volume down +power and choose factory reset.
No fb chat widget and no issues so far

My wife's Rezound (.605, ClearnROM 4.5) has been stable for weeks and weeks. Then, in the last 72 hours or so, it suddenly started ripping through its battery in minutes -- fully charged to dead in 90-180 minutes, even if the phone is just sitting on a desk, untouched, screen off. There doesn't appear to be anything running in the background to account for the drain (no Facebook or anything like that).
Any ideas? Really don't want to have to return it to stock, exchange it with VZW as defective, go through setting up a new one.
Thanks in advance...

best thing to do is go into settings and see what has been using the phone. Go into apps, too and see what has been running.. Finally, an app like better battery stats can really help you see what is killing it.
Often in cases like yours, its a recently updated app that is keeping the phone awake for some reason.

No to overclocking or undervolting. Haven't really had the need to do either since moving off our Droid Xs some months ago. But that was a good thought.
The screen appears to be what's killing the phone. For some reason, it keeps setting itself for Sleep/Never, meaning the screen is on all the time. The last time spent changing that setting seems to be working. Not sure why it keeps toggling back to that setting. May have to reset the phone, reload a ROM and see if a fresh start makes a difference...

Could you elaborate more about what this screen is?
If you had it you would know what I'm talking about for sure.
If you were just asking in general. It all appears to be a screen that gives you an option to go into download mode after your phones hardware resets. Phone boots into it.
I got a black Demigod screen on my old phone Friday. It was the proverbial straw on a phone that was rebooting itself daily - I exchanged it on the weekend.
The black screen was, I believe, for a kernel panic. I got the same 3 options: Download mode, reboot to normal and something else...
Does your phone get poor battery life. Does it make noise when you squeeze it? I wonder if all these issues are related. You should have your phone replaced. My phone does not give me any of the problems people are talking about

Was told in irc that its a mode the phone goes into that allows jtag over usb. If it does it again im just taking this one back too. Everything seems normal after a reboot for me too, something is changing when it happens though because my hosts file reset both times.

They definitely know more. No doubt about it. At least we know one thing. I got it on stock while others got it on a ROM. So I'd assume that it's a hardware issue or an issue that's buried in the software. See, I just covered all the bases. Lol

Is all fine and dandy until you miss an alarm.
I just got the Demigod screen too.
All I've done to my phone is root it and unlock it with FreeGee.
EDIT: I had noticed that the phone was acting somewhat strangely the past couple days (slow response, screen not turning on when I press the power button, multitasking screen not appearing/not responsive). Now it seems alright even though I had rebooted the phone prior to the Demigod screen to try and resolve these issues.
It started happening a couple days ago, but I haven't installed anything new, but maybe a few apps may have autoupdated. Anyways last time it happened was about a minute ago so I figured I should probably try and figure out what's going on. I sat down and launched a game. As it was loading my phone shut off. I turned it back on and put a song on and loaded same game again. I started to play and then it shut off again. Earlier today I was listening to music and was started a different game and it shut off. I turned it back on and relaunched the same game while listening to music and it was fine for hours. Any idea what it could be? My battery is also well over 60% so it's not anything to do with low battery.
Thanks.
i recently have this problem, some say that was stock battery problem or the phone is bad reading the battery status and shutdow, i am from Nicaragua and here is hard to find a stock OEM battery so, i try do a fix permission in recovery and the problem was solved , but most users solved the problem by changing its battery
good luck
This problem has come back again and has been increasingly getting annoying. It will now shut off multiple times a day randomly. For example I'll check the time on my phone and it will shut off. I turn it back on and as soon as I unlock the screen it shuts off. After it does this a few times it will work. I would then open facebook or something and be scrolling down and it will just shut off again. I'm running default ics rooted and unlocked. Never had issues before and nothing has really been added. I've disabled a couple things such as advanced task killer and single cpu thing with the hopes that it would help, but it hasn't.
Any idea?
Thanks.

Yeah I'm thinking the same. It is so annoying trying to send texts when it would shut down for no damn reason. I am hoping it's an app that is causing the phone to crash, but I haven't installed any recently. I got a new battery a couple months back but I wasn't having the problem then. This battery should be a few months old so I don't expect it to be the problem.
Love HTC. (even though I'm considering am s4 simply for a change of flavor) but HTC cannot make a good battery. They underestimate by a lot.
