how to use FM?
help,help
This has been discussed in a number of threads. You are new here, but that's no excuse not to search before posting a question.
Putting it simply, you can't, the chip is there but it lacks the required hardware connections. So unless you want / are able to figure how to change that, you're stuck with mp3 or internet radio

Hello everybody,
I’m terribly sorry to disturb you but I’ve already use the “search function” on this site and there are plenty of posts and I’m lost …
Do somebody know if there is the GPS and WIFI functions on the HTC TOUCH DUAL ( nike ) ?
If, it s yes, may someone give me the precise link of the ROM I’ve to use in order to active them…
Thanks to everybody
See Sticky on this forum. Short answer - NO. The Touch Dual does not have the hardware for it.
The Hardware is present but no Radio could use it till today! And there wouldn't be any Radio for it!
Hello I live in Europe...and a friend is going to give me an htc s743 from USA...and i wonder if it is going to work 100% here in europe. Because i know that there are some differences at the frequency (hz) of the 3G or something.. I dont know what exactly is it...if someone can inform me it would be so nice
Also i know that the s743 has no FM radio...is there any way i can enable it?
thank you
I really want to know a way to enable the FM radio.I was told that my 3G will work only on GPRS but anyway...At leat i want to enable my radio...anyone any idea?
S743 does not support european 3G. It doesn;t have FM radio module. Read/search before posting, as answers are so close:

Nowhere I said the FM module HW isn't present in s743. With high probability is still there, just disabled. At least for HTC it's much cheaper as development of extra "disabled" chipset.
Look at Rhodium. The FM radio isn't officially supported by any version od ROM, but it's there and fully functional.

Thank you very much...but this is for Rhodium...is it going to work on Rose?
Hi all,
I sincerely apologise if this has been answered before but I did try
to use the search function but I did not really see it that clearly
I am sorry if I am off the ball / wrong or don't know what I am talking about but...
According to the data sheet found here:
View attachment DTCOL_2007FEB15_AVDE_RFR_AN_01.zip
It states that the MSM7200 (Nike Chipset) does indeed have "support" for a wifi module and claims there is a GPS unit. Now I don't know if the "support" word means it has wifi or is capable of wifi being added.
The HTC Kaiser uses the exact same chipset but has wifi and gps already onboard / installed.
Don't know if I am correct but,
Is there any way some ingenious XDA Developer can maybe "use" or "take" from the HTC Kasier Windows Mobile ROM drivers and maybe use or add them for the Nike somehow?
Once again, I am sorry if this has been answered before, but couldn't find it.
If it has been answered then feel free to remove it I won't lose sleep at night if you delete this post
Thanx
Wayne
yeah thats right wifi is included at the nike, but the drivers are missing .
and we need a antenna for the reception.
look at:

and

Hey syre! Thanx
Thanx for the info dude,
However, what I am really asking is there some possibility that some XDA dev
maybe could use the drivers and / or the radio drivers from the Kaiser and port them over to the HTC Dual Touch since they share the same MSM 7200?
Is there some possibility maybe?
Sorry if I sound like a douche bag hahaha...
sorry no more development on that, nike is an old device, on this forum nike user and developers is not many anymore so that seems imposible for now. Anyway GPS and wifi thing had been developed before but no luck to make it working on nike. you should give up for that feature unless i think if htc leaked their device structure and driver for us, hope you understand. thanks
Oh well...
Thanx guys, at least i got my answer,
Its just i wish i had wifi on my device,
Anywayz...
Thanx
Wayne
how can i install the GPS & Wifi drivers

Well but dell haven.t release the radio driver so no one can make the fm radio works… it.ll be great if one day we can listen to radio on the streak XD
FM RADIO does work you have to turn on bluetooth, plug headset and launch the fm app... works perfect for me.
What app are you talking about here, could you please share the link of the apk
For the uninitiated, what does hacking the radio actually accomplish or allow? Is it just for FM radio stations, or are we talking about the cellular radio the phone uses to communicate with towers? Can it be reverse-engineered to change the frequencies the phone uses, for example to shoehorn 3g connectivity with another network?
this is a guide for teaching the basics of reverse engineering android, it uses the evo radio as an example.
Why are you all getting so hung up on the streak radio?
How about read the article and learn something maybe?
Yah, the tutorial is just a guide to how you can reverse engineer any Android application... and it just happens to use the radio app as a real world example of doing so. I really like the style of tutorial this person chose, IMO it's the best way to guide someone through how to do something like this.
Hello, I have searched the forums and have been unable to find an answer to my question either here or through Google.
I am trying to figure out whether or not the HTC Evo 3D has the capability to use the Android Open Accessory that was supposed to be added in 2.3.4. Though, even though the phone supports may contain the libraries, the hardware itself may not support it. If some one could help me determine whether or not the phone is capable of connecting to an Arduino board it would help a lot. This is the one feature that I absolutely need to know it has before I purchase it.
Thank you for your time and I apologize if this has already been answered and I was unable to find it.
Android Arduino Board
The hardware can do it, but since the 3D is android v2.3.3, I don't think the libraries are there yet. Once HTC provides an update to v2.3.4 (or we gain perm root for custom roms), you should be "good to go".
Just FYI - the Arduino board acts as a USB Host since Android phones are normally USB devices. That and the software are all that is needed to talk to the board....
Thank you very much for your help.
I do not know why the USB Host bit slipped my mind. After all the board I am using is called Oleg's USB Host Shield. lol
