Well but dell haven.t release the radio driver so no one can make the fm radio works… it.ll be great if one day we can listen to radio on the streak XD
FM RADIO does work you have to turn on bluetooth, plug headset and launch the fm app... works perfect for me.
What app are you talking about here, could you please share the link of the apk
For the uninitiated, what does hacking the radio actually accomplish or allow? Is it just for FM radio stations, or are we talking about the cellular radio the phone uses to communicate with towers? Can it be reverse-engineered to change the frequencies the phone uses, for example to shoehorn 3g connectivity with another network?
this is a guide for teaching the basics of reverse engineering android, it uses the evo radio as an example.
Why are you all getting so hung up on the streak radio?
How about read the article and learn something maybe?
Yah, the tutorial is just a guide to how you can reverse engineer any Android application... and it just happens to use the radio app as a real world example of doing so. I really like the style of tutorial this person chose, IMO it's the best way to guide someone through how to do something like this.

Sorry, I repeat myself because I see a Sticky post saying "NO GPS - anntena missing". I've also read a few contradicting posts so I want to make clear:
HTC Touch Dual (nike) HAS gps receiver.
It is enabled on my “Bell” ROM (Canada).
I used the Diamond test software and I can see about 10 satellites. (Nadavi_HTC_GPS_TOOL.cab)
I have also installed Google maps and Garmin Mobile XT and both work like a charm.
I don't think there is a register/settings you can change to enable it on your phone. I think you need a new ROM.
On the WIFI side, I strongly believe it has WIFI but we may need a new ROM to enable it.
Dump your rom and share!!!!
Do you have an 528 MHz CPU? If yes, you have a Neon400 that comes with built-in GPS! And that's why you can't give us Niki-Users a GPS-enabled ROM!
More [email protected]
The canada Released Neon400 has GPS thats been confirmed alot already confirm you have the Neon400 and theres nothing special here
htc are sure churning out lots of different versions of the nike/neon
This sounds realy good!
Need a Dump from SPL and OS. After that, i make NV-Item and RAM Dump. Then i can Compare and found this settings.
Please talk with me tomorow via ICQ or MSN!
Hi, I have no longer followed this thread as I found out I have a Neon and not a Nike.
I'll dump the Rom, SPL, OS and anythink that can be dumped if you tell me how.
The Neon400 isn't the same like Neon100/200/300 because the Neon400 based on another Chipset! This chipset is the Qualcomm MSM7201A (like the Diamond) instead of the Qualcomm MSM7200 and this chipsets doens't have a built-in GPS antenna so dumping your ROM isn't really helpfull for other HTC Neon users!
Sad but true, even for us Niki users!
Anime ... CPU doesnt interessting me ... i need a Full Ram Dump, then i can enable it. I think, GSM is present in Niki and Neon to. Possible Antenna isnt present. I need some NV-Items etc ... i will talk with Thread Starter NOW to found a solution!!!!
Aaahh, I didn't know it! I need to learn a lot more about HTC devices!
It seems HTC is always good for an surprise
Hope Netrunner will find the needed Files. With GPS the Niki is a dream for me
Thread Starter doesnt answer hehehe
Not much to answer. I don't know how to dump the ROM and I've asked before. If you can teach me I'll post the file. Mabe somone can enable the Wifi for Neon, at least.
Yes i will teach you all we need BUT please talk with me over ICQ, MSN, MAIL, Skype ... what ever!
We need a lot steps and its to complex to post only via this Thread!!!!
Some steps doesnt brick your phone, but it doesnt start the OS, after reset. Some steps need a lot of time. Full Ram Dump ~ 2 hours!
I just ordered HTC Touch Dual from bell canada
set to arrive in mail in few days, does this mean im getting the Neon400? want to be 100% sure.
and if so, should i be looking at roms made for the HTC Diamond instead of nike roms?
Hello I live in Europe...and a friend is going to give me an htc s743 from USA...and i wonder if it is going to work 100% here in europe. Because i know that there are some differences at the frequency (hz) of the 3G or something.. I dont know what exactly is it...if someone can inform me it would be so nice
Also i know that the s743 has no FM radio...is there any way i can enable it?
thank you
I really want to know a way to enable the FM radio.I was told that my 3G will work only on GPRS but anyway...At leat i want to enable my radio...anyone any idea?
S743 does not support european 3G. It doesn;t have FM radio module. Read/search before posting, as answers are so close:

Nowhere I said the FM module HW isn't present in s743. With high probability is still there, just disabled. At least for HTC it's much cheaper as development of extra "disabled" chipset.
Look at Rhodium. The FM radio isn't officially supported by any version od ROM, but it's there and fully functional.

Moto Atrix 4G use BCM4329
this ic supports radio fm,802.11n Wi-Fi,bluetooth
how to use FM?
help,help
This has been discussed in a number of threads. You are new here, but that's no excuse not to search before posting a question.
Putting it simply, you can't, the chip is there but it lacks the required hardware connections. So unless you want / are able to figure how to change that, you're stuck with mp3 or internet radio
Hi, i hope this question wasnt asked before, but i searched and i couldnt find such a question on this forum, but can someone tell me how should i set spiritfm to make it work for this device, cause i really like that radio app on other android phones and just cant get the right setings for this one, and i hope im not asking about something that is impossible, thanks in advance.
Only certain RHOD's have the FM modulator chip (I believe all GSM models, which you have a 100)
Because of this, I don't believe anyone has enabled the path for the FM modulator to even function/route audio. So I don't think it'll work without some kernel trickery. Good luck.
aah, thanks for the info, i was really hoping, cause omgb has a fm radio app that doesent work for me, and i was hoping i can get fm to work

Yes... if you note, the head/pretty much only developer on OMGB for the TP2 is/was using a CDMA RHOD .

lol, now i wonder why do i never read the sigs of others xD
i know that this phone has a FM receiver built in. The wifi chip is also supposed to just be for receiving, but we can do wifi tether. this makes me think it *may* be possible to transmit fm from the chip in the phone (from what i understand its built into the wifi chip). i know i can buy a fm transmitter, and i actually already have three of them, but it would be nice to not have any extra hardware if its not needed. i also know you can do bluetooth streaming and stuff, but it would be nice to stream through fm to devices that do not have bluetooth. so please dont tell me to go buy a real fm transmitter or do something else. if it is possible, please let me know. if not, just tell me that. thanks!
Not possible. It would be nice, but such is life

Also, there is another thread in this section regarding this. That thread is titled "fm transceiver"
haha. i am subscribed to this thread and i got the email notification on my phone. lol
It is possible. But no one has done it because no devs think it worth the effort. Personally I would love it, but not enough to learn to develope the necessary drivers.
Here's a link to a thread in the Evo 4g section regarding this topic.
There's some detailed info in there about antennas, fcc rules etc
Worth a read through if this topic interests you...
Edit: I guess it would help if I included the link lol

Someone try this and tell me if it works. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=13379669 it kinda pricey for an app. But if it works it will be worth it. There is a link in the OP for a free version.

Hell it a receiver app, not a transmitter app. Sorry guys. But maybe he has the knowledge to do a transmitter app.
Do a play store app search for,"quick fm transmitter". It installs but doesnt work. It says the system is not supported. It does list the supported "sharp" systems. The good part is, the app is there; although it needs to be ported.
I also found that there are at least 6 HTC phones with the correct chip set. Those other phone users would also like an app for this.
