Hi guys
Lately my phone has been shutting down without any apparent reason.
Most of the times it happens at night, but it has also happened during day when some hours go by without using it.
It's not a battery issue, since it happens with 80% 70% 60% (...) charged battery.
I don't need to remove the battery to turn it on again (like some cases I've read here), it turns on just fine, like nothing happened.
I'm using openOptimus 2.202.1 with franco 2.6.35.14
So... any ideas or debugging I might do?
I was planning on posting this on openOptimus dev thread, but since I've just registered, I can't
Thanks!
Actually most similar problems are solved by reflasing the ROM. The cause is in most cases something wrong in the /system partition or half-installed or half-removed tweaks. I had this problem 3 or 4 times, but every time I reflash the ROM this gets solved.
If reflashing fails go for data wipe (First backup with Titanium Backup/similar software). All applications can be backed up/restored using backup software, but after the wipe restore data to only the user apps, because bad data in system apps may cause the device to malfunction.
Hi Ianis,
I'll try that today and I'll give some feedback
Thanks
And, i had this problems all on OpenOptimus.. fixed it by flashing Oxygen

Hi mDroid,
but Oxygen is old baseband, right?
I've wiped everything and reflashed with openOptimus, so I'll be waiting to see what happens
Thanks

That should be enough...
I themed Oxygen like ICS, deodexed, zipaling, update kernel etc
uploading REALLY SOON
Well, it's been 24h and no shutdowns.
I'll keep an eye on it and report if it happens again, but seems reflashing did the trick...
Well, a few days have passed and no shutdowns. So, issue fixed.
Thanks

Hi,
Give some more details,
On wich ROM are you, official or customised ?
Task killer app ?
Always the same problem with this phone or new problem ?
If you've installed the new custom kernels, then battery drain is normal..also did you do a clean install of the rom? If yes, did you restore the apps and data.?
As I said I'm running wolfbreaks rom. I have already done a fresh installation of the rom. I have restored apps and data using mybackup root. I am not running any costum kernels. Any help is appreciated thanks guys.

Wipe dalvik cache and reset battery stats, that could help
There is a known issue, stated on Wolfbreaks thread about the ROM, it says that if you have this problem..
Make a full fresh reinstall of 2.1 trought Sony Ericsson Update Service and then after that my ROM and dont restore your Data in 2.1 or my ROM. Make a fresh install and if thats done you can restore Data with Flashtool Method i described or with MyBackupRoot/Titanium

I use the Cyanogen 6.1.3 & have no issues at al, maybe you should callebrate your battery every once in a while!
Have you updated Wolf's ROM to V06? Since I updated the phone is flying! Very fast and smooth and battery seems to last much longer
reflash the phone (or recover using xRecovery) to 2.1
then reboot back to xRecovery, wipe everything in order as written in the instructions.
flash base rom (v05), reboot, login to the market and let it settle.
then install the update v06, flash in the new market, then reboot.
apart from doing the correct steps, it is also important to calibrate your battery, which you can find apps from the market to do so.
Hi, I was on Stock 2.3.3 then I flashed wolf's rom and my battery started draining :-(
Now I am back to stock via repair using PCC but the problem still persists... :-(
I need to charge two times a day if I m using my phone continuously... Previously it used to last one day...
Need suggestions on how to improve the battery.... Should I go back to 2.1 and then update it again to 2.3.3 ???
Or any other solution... I am on Stock 2.3.3 at the moment..

Calibrate it using battery calibration mate.
Fully charge and calibrate it, then use it till fully discharged, and fully charge again.

I never calibrated my battery. I guess what u missed was wiping battery stats before flashing wolf's rom. (he didnt mention this step in the installation procedure as its not mandatory) but this makes a difference I believe. I think u can have one more try. If your stock Rom is already rooted then flash wolf's rom again (or else u might have to go back to 2.1 and root it and flash wolf's rom). Now before u flashing wolf's rom, wipe ur battery stats just before selecting the custom zip (actual rom file). Good luck (PS: I'm on wolf's rom and I'm a heavy used - bluetooth head set on almost 10 - 12 hrs a day and wifi on almost 12 - 16 hrs a day and I usually gets over a day and I'm not using any custom kernels)

Just done a fresh install of wolf's rom with the latest v4.0.4 and this time I wiped everything and also formatted the system.. things appear to be fine at the moment as I have not installed any of my previous apps.. Will see how the battery operates for a few days..
I am also somehow hates the battery calibaration method it appears that it takes more from a battery then to give it lol..
well i just flashed the sonygenmod and flashed the jobans kernel on my lg optimus one. well everything was good until like 2 days later it start saying the process com.andriod.phone closed unexceptionly. it comes up like every 4 seconds. what do i have to download to get rid of this message. help ?
Go to recovery, having clockworkmod, advanced than reset the permissions or whatever it's called, do a backup first... If this doesn't work than download a different kernel like from fserve or franco, wipe cache/dalvik cache than flash fserve/franco kernel and the problem should be fixed... If all fails reflash rom than reflash fserve or franco kernel and that FC your having will be eliminated, the problem your probably going through is the kernel causes instability with the rom or its incompatible with the the rom itself, I've not seen a thread on joban kernel, so I stick to what's best for 99% of the roms that exist on OpT threads

I had ur same problem yesterday with cyanogen. I solved it flashing another rom.
P.S. I like your nickname
well thanks but can i get a download link!
And it doesnt work so is there an alternative methood?
First thing is that jobans kernel is for the Phoenix/thrive, so they can flash p500 roms.
The error is caused by the phone looking for a data network. No real fix, just a bandaid for now.
Not quite sure how you came about the kernel without knowing the phone it was moded for.
If you stick with kernels that are for your phone and that come with the rom you shouldn't get that error.
Not sure if this was resolved. But I hope this helps.
Ok, I'm in a real fix here. I have an LG Optimus One P500, with rooted stock Gingerbread (2.3.3), and a .35 baseband.
I used this guide to try to switch to the old baseband (.32) because most of the ROMs that have been developed support that baseband.
In the guide, I followed the instructions, and the software automatically created an .NV2 backup file. However, when it came to RESTORING that file, I got an error, saying failed. Now in the guide, they said this was curable, as long as I disabled the LGE Virtual Modem, which I did. At the time, my phone was in Emergency Mode (Yellow screen with text "Emergency Mode! ). Here's where (I think) I went wrong:
I disabled the Virtual Modem, and then pulled out the battery from my phone and rebooted, I tried running the Program again, but got the same error. I tried rebooting my PC and trying again, again same error. I also tried going into Emergency Mode and trying again, this time it said NV backup not found. I tried backing up a recovery image I had made with ClockwordMods Recovery. I got back the recovery, but still no GSM.
Please help me, I have no bluetooth, no FM radio, and most importantly NO GSM
Flash a .32 kernel based rom.. everything should be fine.
Sent from my LG-P500 using Tapatalk
Actually I'm quite sure that won't work... Because I can't get GSM radio even on stock GB. Also, I don't have an IMEI.. Although, you might be right, so I'll try and get back to you soon.

Sweet. I now see that you hadn't tried an old baseband rom. So flashing ComicXperia (which is an old baseband rom) works. It proves that you have successfully reverted to the old baseband. But at the post above me: .32 is the kernel, it is different from the baseband.
32 base and?
Don't make me laugh..
.32 is kernel and has nothing to do with baseband!

Hello SGS2 users! Has anyone experienced this problem before?
I was originally running VK 5.1.2 without a problem then I flashed RR 2.5.3; didn't really like the theme then I came across PFittech ROM GTX which I thought "Wow!".
After flashing, I noticed that when the screen went off and locked, it won't wake and I need to pull battery and reboot.
As you may know that is extremely inconvenient so I flashed stock rom and went back to VK 5.1.2 but this hasn't stopped the problem
I have done all the wipes (cache, dalvik, factory/data and format system!

Ur having SOD, sleep of death... when ur phone enters deepsleep it wont get up.
this is frequently related with UV, or poor bus freq.
u should flash a kernel cleaner like this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1363738
or any other. then u have to flash a new kernal.
Thanks mate! Will try this now
Still there
Firstly, I flashed stock firmware, then I flashed cf-root. Went into recovery and done a full wipe and flashed the script.
I done another wipe then installed VK Rom (I have never had a problem with this) and left the phone for 30 secs on screen off and it came back.
What should I do next?
Should I check all settings for CPU and GPU? Revert them to standard? I don't touch those settings as I don't have a great knowledge of changing volts and clock speeds.
Maybe you could let it on stock (unrooted) and see if it happens again...

I flashed the stock LPB firmware and used it for a full day and I never experience any SoD. Tried a few custom roms and still having the error.
Although there may seem there is nothing wrong with the phone, I have never had a problem with any roms I use. All the roms I am trying are previous downloads that have worked successfully so I doubt there is any corruption.
I won't be giving up and I will be trying everything and anything... the now I am going to try Gingerbread based roms and see if I still get the error. If anyone else has any more ideas please tell me.

You might need to check your cpu frequency i read her that if it was set to less than 200Mhz you might have the sleep of death issue

I always do a full wipe but today I've seen something unusual.
Kernel Panic Upload Mode came up when the phone was off?
I am flashing back to GB and see if any SoD appear.
Mate, there is something wierd with ur phone...
There sure is.. I am running KI3 GB with CF Root and not received any SoD. Seems to be only on custom roms?
Good news! I fixed it!
What I did:
First of all, I had an extended battery and I swapped it for the old battery (Because of case with stand it won't fit)
Flashed stock GB (XXKI3)
Flashed CF-Root KI3
Full Wipe (Cache, Factory/Data, Dalvik, Battery stats)
Format System
Flashed Kernel Cleaner
Flashed VK 5.1.2
Flashed Siyah 3.3.2
So after doing all this, the SoD has gone. So it must be a problem with Fluxi on my device.
I may be wrong but after doing this the problem stopped and I am happy again
So thank you to you all who tried to help!
I have the same problem, except my SOD also has high battery drain even though the phone is pretty much useless. Very annoying when you are relying on the alarm clock. Did you also notice high battery drain?
I found it happened on Thebyani 4.3, not on 4.4, and now it happened on 4.5. Im hoping the kernel cleaner and the latest Siyah kernel will fix it. Any kernels you guys recommend if it still happens?
