Pleas don't flame me on this, just something I had been thinking about. I was thinking about returning this and going back toy incredible. Reason: I really need consistent sound setting for school, important calls, alarms, etc. I talked to a rep at a local store and he said I was past the return window. I asked about the extended return date that I had heard about and he said he thought it was only for online orders. Anyone help me out with what is right here? I have no other problem with the phone and I'm sure it can be fixed once we have root. Just throwing this idea around in my head. Thnx

If you are in a vzw store and have a policy question it is always best to ask to see the manager. He can pull that type of info up on his computer and usually give you the correct info.
If you bought the phone on or after November 15th you have til some time in January. If you bought it on the 14th you have 14 days to return it.

I was told by a Verizon rep that the return policy for phones bought after middle of Nov..... (Sorry can't remember the exact date) but you will be able to return until Jan 15, 2012. Hope this helps.

I bought my Rezound in a VZ store during the Jan 15th return period.
I actually made them give me the return in writing as I was planning on returning it and getting a Nexus as soon as they became available.
Now that I've used the Rezound for a while, you couldn't give me a GN but that's another story.....

I've seen many people get flamed for the choice of returning this phone. Mostly due to the fact that they mention getting the n***s. But still wanted to make sure I didn't get the stick. I appreciate the helpful responses by the way. Is there anywhere at all that this policy is in writing? IE website or in a store? last time i spoke to a VZW rep over the phone(611) they informed me that this "holiday return policy"(nov. 15 - jan. 15) is something they don't advertise but do honor at any actual Verizon retail store.
but as i had mentioned in another post, it is only for purchases made at an actual Verizon store. purchases made from Amazon, Best Buy, Radio Shack, Walmart, etc do not get this policy and only follow the return policy from the stores themselves.
Ok. I will go to the vzw store I bought it at and talk to the guy that sold it to me. He was actually quite nice and seemed pretty knowledgeable. Thnx.

I am on Rezound # 4 so I have a number of receipts. I can confirm that stores are putting "if bought after ... can return until Jan 15" on them. When I call the 800 number to ask, they keep talking about the 14 days. On the last call, I said "then how come I have a receipt that says Jan 15" and the rep typed and said, yes, that is correct.
So they will not volunteer the information, but it is there.
So does that Nov-15 - Jan-15 return policy give you the option to cancel service for that extended time or just to return the phone for exchange?

Actually, ASUS doesn't sell directly to end users, so their customers ARE the retailers. That's who they're set up to deal with, and that's why you didn't get directed to anyone.

Funny thing is, even then you might not get a response. The retailers all have buyers who deal with ASUS, and they've probably established long ago that only those buyers should interact with ASUS directly. Nothing could create a flustercluck quicker than every store from a retail chain calling manufacturers asking about upcoming stocking levels and such.
I'm betting the Best Buy stores call Best Buy HQ, and then Best Buy HQ calls ASUS. The information is then passed back to the stores.

This has been the worst release ever, and the second worst was the transformer. I blame all this on asus. They are the ones responsible for all the retailers not having it. I'm pissed at bestbuty, amazon, gamestop. But it all goes back to asus. They are the screwups. After amazon telling me to stay up all night to preorder they finally give me a date of jan 25 at least. What the hell do I need to stay up all night for if it's a month later. I thought they would be able to get it a few days later not a month!
Maybe I should just chill....wait to see all the complaints everyone has before getting it or if I get it at all. Gamestop suppose to have it tomorrow, but with all this aggravation, I just might not get it....Oh who am I kidding, if it's available I'll get it.
Asus may be to blame but amazon has the worst policy when it comes to preorder. They screwed many people over for canceling orders only to reopen preorder shortly afterwards and the. act innocent with emails stating they can reorder. They put them people at the back of the line. Now they are even taking more orders knowing they won't even have them. Notice how they won't give estimated dates till long afterwards. Bestbuy is right behind them

According to Amazon rep I spoke with the 4-7 weeks is a conservative estimate. They have requested more stock from ASUS and as soon as they get it they will ship it out. The 4-7 weeks was their next scheduled shipment so assuming they can not get an extra stock from ASUS that is when the next orders will go out.

Scratch all that, just talked to a support rep. They're done manufacturing the First model of it. They've got a second model they're planning to roll out this month (just like ICS would be available before the end of the year). That would explain why Best Buy assumed it's done, discontinued the first version of the TF201. Perhaps a TF211? Feel free to call 'em up and ask if it's been discontinued. They should respond with something along the lines of Lol new model! Or something to that effect. Waiting for a supervisor to call me up tomorrow.
Just got off the phone the Best Buy.com floor manager, and *apparently* Asus is no longer manufacturing the Prime. I wanted to return it for a REPLACEMENT, and nobody could answer one simple question: Do you have one in stock to replace it with? I got to the supervisor and he simply told me it was done, gave me a direct number to Asus. He also told me to file an RMA and that Asus would try to fix it, and if they couldnt, then I'd get a same or better one.

I'm calling Asus to see what's up. I'll update the OP with more info. I want my damn Prime fixed...

I had one "E-Commerce VP tell me that ASUS Hasn't RELEASED the dock yet, it will be out at the END OF JANUARY, LOL! I had to tell him that my co-worker HAS one from Best Buy sitting on his desk, and he still doubted me. I had to point him to one of the "Dock Sources" thread here at xda.
He DID NOT become a floor manager by knowing ANYTHING about product releases, I will tell you that. Man that's funny!!!
I almost hurt myself laughing. HEHEHEHEHE! HAHAHAHAHA!

if anything bby doesn't have a proper in store stock date so their system is screwed up. no one on CS or at the store level has any idea of what's going on as far as manuf or actual stock beyond what their inventory system shows them, and that system is a piece of crap (unless they updated it significantly after i quit from there, which i doubt)
the only actually plausable thing one can take from this is they are for some reason giving the new batches a different sku and discontinuing the old one.

Yeah best buy also told me that Asus wasn't coming out with the Prime back in december.
Major bugs, horrible design flaw and dishonest sales tactics mixed together with a name that is clearly ripped off from hasbro will lead to its demise.
Prime could have been a real winner but Asus just couldn't live up to it.
They will probably stop making the current bugged out and defective units and redesign it with a plastic back and rename it to the Asus Tranny.

Take it back. Why would you keep something with an obvious defect when they will exchange it with hardly an explanation? Walk in an tell them what's wrong and you'd like an exchange. They will do it.
It may very well be a dead pixel. Dead pixels are not all that rare. I'd say go to/call sprint and say you want a replacement. Who knows how long it will take for you tovget one though.
I would definitely bring it back....it does look like a dead pixel. I had the same problem with my old 2g iPhone and after a few months of use the dead pixel went straight across the screen overnight. Dont wait just tell them you are not satisfied and want a new one. At least you know too that you wont be getting a refurb this early in the game.

That's the only problem with 'take it back', you might have to wait a while. Its not that easy. Sprint stores still have preorders they need to fill as well (which they haven't done yet).
Agreed, swap that sucker out. Good luck on finding one though.. Hopefully the stock issues will get taken care of swiftly.
I had to return my OG evo within the first 30 days because it had the crack by the power button on the casing. Turns out, most of them eventually did this, but they replaced it and before they were giving out refurbs.

If you call them they will drop ship you one just as easily too...I'd call around and see if the stores have any in stock(not likely though)....If not just call and you'll get one shipped to ya for less hassle for going into the store and likely just as fast if they dont have any in stock right now at the store...

yes there is lots of issues but soon as you do a chat at sprint.com its solved in less then 10 minutes

SERO plan or something equivalent to that like the EPRP ones?....If so you'll have to get a very very nice customer service rep to do it for you b/c evidently your only supposed to order phones through sprint on those plans...ran into this last year with my 3D and the rep said 3rd party just doesn't have the ability to do it...b/c they are basically employee plans...

Ooh look at me, I've got my new phone. And it works great....... lucky.
I called telesales who transferred me to tech support, and tech support told me that for screen defects I would need to take the phone into a store to swap it. Of course, none of the local stores have any stock.

I got told this as well for my proximity sensor problem. They told me they are not allowed to just ship another phone out... such bull****.
I have a similar spec of dust under the screen in mine. It's so small I barely notice it. Unless there are more serious issues with the device, i'm not going to lose sleep over it or bother returning it.
This spec is only noticeable on a white background. I'm not OCD enough to be bothered by this When viewing the phone in a bright environment (outside), you don't see it at all. Having a spec of dust under the screen protector is much more noticeable than this.
i highly suggest being very carefull because many defects with this evo, my camera doesnt even zoom in and take pictures correctly.....this is insane. i will never give in again, samsung all the way baby
user error? mine works just dandy! recorded the whole Devils celebration over the rangers and too kstills at the same time. zoomed in and out perfectly.
That's tragic, you made the determination that there are lots of defects based on your experience with the phone you got. Seems kind of silly. I would say based on the number of phones shipped, and the few comments on defects I have read in ALL the forums I visit.
In all honesty, both Samsung smartphones I had were buggy. Not just defective, but permanently borked in one way or another. GPS that doesn't lock? Yep, I had one.
Don't swear off one company just because you got a lemon. Samsung has its lemons too. When life hands you lemons.. send it back for a good one

Mine works just fine too I am only saying this cause I don't want people seeing this and writing it off cause of your one issue.

if it is only a camera issue.. can you live with it for a week or 2.. till they can get you another one?

i have no problems with my camera zooming in or out.. so what else you got?
only problem with my camera is that sometimes it over saturates the picture, but it also works out to my advantate, i take pictures when its getting dark and the grass looks nice and green as if it was a sunny day. Lovin it.

since when has SS become the benchmark for good quality phones? They had a plethora of issues when the S and S2 first released as far as I'm concerned. My cousin got his S2 in Jan/ Feb this yr and it is buggy as hell and by that time the phone had been out way too long.
But anyway my suggestion: return your phone and wait for the S3. I think you will never be able to be satisfied w the quality of HTC phones because you have already formed a conception about them. Even the buggiest Samsung phone will be better than an HTC good phone according you. Return it and get another phone. At the end of the day it's your money your experience you should get what makes you happy. And by doing that you are doing goods as well since there are less negativity going on around.

My wife's camera is busted also. So I am waiting either bestbuy to get more stock, or 30 days to pass and go to Sprint to have it switched out on insurance.
i think after this im done, im moving on to a different obsession.... this is the last straw, im done on xda, done caring anymore about smartphones, will try to get back into video games.......and comics.... this **** isnt worth it anymore

It is just a phone... If you get that worked up, it is time to switch to a new hobby.
I have no issues with mine, get it replaced instead of opting for a plastic Samsung phone.

First u were jumping the HTC ship to Samsung because of one camera defect. Now jumping the smartphone ship altogether because u have to send it to a manufacturer who's willing to fix it for u even though u don't have the original receipt?
