I just got a 512 Sd card and my XDA doesn't recognise it.
I also have a 256 card which works fine.
I am thinking maybe I need to flash the ROM but am a little scared of doing so.
The card is working in other devices.
TIA
Jamie
Same result here. Anybody know what's wrong?
does a flash reader for pc work with the sd ?
format as fat16 or fat32 ?
The Billionton 512mb SD card works fine everywhere else (my desktop, laptops, camera, ipaq 1940 pda, eten p300 pocketpc phone).
re: "does a flash reader for pc work with the sd ? format as fat16 or fat32 ?"
hey mate,
normally i reformat my 512 sd card via the sd-card reader (usb) through my laptop. i once formatted using fat16 and fat 32; i found out that the sd card's memory seemd to be restricted; i could only save files or use up to 300-plus mb. i then tried formatting using the ntfs format and my xda2 didn't recognize the card. i then tried using FAT format and the memory usage went up to 480-plus. i use sandisk by the way, not sure if this is the same as the sd card you have. but i do know that you can't use the entire 512 mb; something to do with the security or the card's internal program to retain files.

have you tried using one of these via XDA ??

or
StorageTools frmo there

Help me...
I use guide from Galaxy Y > [GUIDE] Increase RAM using Swap File and Swap Partition ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=33472176#post33472176 )
I got 16GB SD card, so i try using this guide. It works, but i don't really like it.
So i want to go back (not using swap method), and i format my SD card.
But i fotgot to off the swap (like in the tutor, you mus off it, or your SD card can't be mounted)..
Now my SD card can't read by my phone :'( , i can't use it anymore.
Whe i connect my SD card with card reader, it show (not broken or something), and when in CWM, i choose mount SD card, i can backup.
But when i turn on my phone, it not read (mount) my SD card.
And i can't make swap (because my SD card did'nt read by my phone, it not show)..
help me
Tried it with a linux system? It must detect your card because swap partitions will be detected by linux systems .
Edit: format it in fat32 file system then only it will be recognized by your phone.
Sent from my ST15i using xda app-developers app
Since exFAT is not supported by AOKP roms and I plan to use one, I have to reformat my sd card. The thing is I don't know how and I cant even find out how to do it.
I've tried reformating in CWM, in Android itself and in Windows (by plugging the phone). There is no option of changing the partition format.
The only way possible is plugging the SDcard directly to the computer? I dont have any adapter so I cant really do it wihout buying one
I use either EaseUS Partition Manager or MiniTool Partition Wizard...google them, you can reformat any SD card to pretty much any format

Format it from within the phone.. Go to settings >storage.. It will format it in fat32
sent from here, there, somewhere!!
Oh, I did format it from within the phone earlier, just like you said. It is in fat32 then I guess, will install an aosp rom later and check it (im currently on sammy based)
thanks guys
Well If it is different can't you just install the new rom then format the card within the new rom??
Also i am sure the GS3 formats the card to exfat and not FAT32 as i thought we didn't have the 4gb limitations??
Hello,
my Xperia ray does not mount (working) 16GB SDHC card that I formerly repartitioned to provide additional space for applications. Following this tutorial
xperiablog.net/2011/12/12/link2sd-guide-never-worry-about-internal-memory-limits-again/
I've set up 2 partitions, but phone recognized none of them. Neither did Windows, when card was connected through Xperia. Using card reader, I've managed to delete both partitions with partition program and make one FAT32 again. After formatting, this SD card is working properly in Windows, but doesn't in Xperia ray (and another Android phone). Another card is mounted in my phone flawlessly.
CWM Recovery also can't mount this card. I've even changed from CarbonROM to one that I believe to be stock (ST18i_4.1.B.0.587_CE_1252-3693_ForsakenNGL.ftf), but it didn't help. I dont know whether is it related, but none of kernels (ROMs?) i've tried had partition table file in flashtool menu. Does any of those have one?
How to repair this memory card?
EDIT: Problem solved, all that was needed to do was to change state of partition from "Logical" to "Primary" in partition program.
what is/are the micro sd file system(s) recognised by OPX?
i inserted a 64G micro sd formatted with exFAT, and it was not recognised by OPX.. (it was recognised by TWRP as "/external_sd")
should i try NTFS then? (but im afraid TWRP might not recognise it then..)
any hint? thx..

Ive allso had exfat and have problems with it, now i have ntfs and it works prefect.
In Oxygen 2.1.2 my experience was that the only filesystem working BOTH in Oxygen, Windows and TWRP was Fat32 formatted in TWRP. I really tried them all (exFat, fat32, NTFS, Ext4, f2fs)
However, after upgrade to Oxygen 2.1.3 I discovered that also exFat works everywhere so I reformatted my 128 GB card to exFat.
yes v2.1.3 added back support to exFAT..
What is correct file path for sdcard? Stock E1005 2.1.3-X using stock file Manager?
I have 64gb sdxc gskill class 10 there is no option to format card on phone. Upon boot "sdcard available click to access".
Shows up in Storage. Saving to sdcard is hot & miss. ie. Moving OpenCamera frm internal to sdcard, shows up Settings>Apps, ON SDCARD tab
But not in file Manager

Click to collapse
Sorry to bump a really old thread but I noticed on 3.1.4 ExFat is not supported and the phone asks me to reformat and it goes into FAT32
Anyone else seeing this on 1+X?
Yes I found this rather annoying I ended up just formatting it in end. Lol. There is ways around it but eh.
