[Q] Dead Pixel (Glowing) - HTC Amaze 4G

Hi people
Im from India and got myself this AMAZing phon yesterday from the US since its not available here..
I noticed a really tiny glowing pixel against black background only in the middle.
It's not gonna be easy for me to send it back for a replacement to the US...
I have a few questions :-
1) does anyone here have this problem
2) is there any way to fix it
3) is there a chance that the dead pixel will spread ?
thanks in advance

1. probably
2. no, screen replacement?
3. yes

1) probably but maybe not in the same place.(see below!)
2) search for 'stuck pixel' or 'Dead Pixel Detect' in the marketplace. Some people have said it works if you run the program for long enough, some people no difference.
3) possibly..

Anyone know dead stuck pixel policy, since I got 1 glowing too in the middle of the screen.

Bad pixel on my Galaxy Ace

After month of using Ace I found bad pixel on my screen
What's even worst is that it's in the middle of the screen and I can see it all the time. Did install Dead Pixel Detect to confirm this and unfortunately it is there.
Does anyone know if repair center will give me new one or at least change the screen on this one?
It depense of your warranty... But for me, I know that they will give me a new one if I have this problem.

I'll contact my warranty service and ask them about it, but I'm worried that they might want to change the screen and I don't want that.
After they changed screen and digitizer in my i900(I had white dot from overheating and poor digitizer - common problems with i900) it had specks of dust between the screen and the touch layer.
Hopefully they will give me new one. I'll keep you posted on my situation, maybe it'll be helpful to some

Live with it?
I voided my warranty and your mum.
If its a dead pixel then definitely you will get replacement. Post the screen shot by pressing *#0*# in keypadafter the screen test.
Besides there is a dedicated Indian thread going on,

Take you mobile to Samsung Service with original Invoice, Complete Box packing (including Charger, Data Cable, Headphone, manuals etc.)
They will check it and reseal the Box and issue you an RMA Document. Which you can take alongwith the SEaled Box to the same Dealerf from where you bought it and you will get replacement.
Mine was also showing Dead Pixel frim the second day when I bought it and got replacement.
Sounds good to me, thanks for sharing.
1 dead pixel would not be covered.
I actually went in to Samsung and said I am having issues with my home button. It is randomly closing apps and also the VLingo app is starting automatically.
This gave me a new front panel and, hence a new screen. I also had 1 small dead pixel as well.
You will have to go when there is no rush and ensure that you get your point across.
IF YOU REALLY cant live with it, its 5k for a new screen and they will install it for you in that cost.
My suggestion is GO TO Samsung and put in a complaint of the home button and a dead pixel, get that complaint number and keep bothering them until they finally replace it.
P.S, I just went through this whole process only 2 weeks ago and got my screen in for free last week itself.
Hope It Helps.
Thanks for the info guys...seems like I gotto fight this one out....will let you guys know about the outcome

dead pixel

So it appears that I have a dead pixel. I can't really tell. It's definitely not on the surface, so it's either dust underneath the screen or its a dead pixel. But it's a very very tiny black spot, right on the white part of the clock on the homescreen. Should I take this baby back? I can probably live with it for 2 years...i guess...it's just knowing it's there that bugs me. There's no danger of more dead pixels is there? Is one dead pixel indication that more may happen?

eXplicit815 says there is an app called dead pixel test on market that can tell you for sure whether there is a dead pixel or not. The post is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1683245&highlight=pixel&page=2

Run the app for 1 hour and that might fix it. It has worked for others.
Dumb question: is there any danger in running the fixer for that long?
Thanks, BTW

If you look right at it you could suffer a seizure.
If the pixel is the only screen issue I'd say keep it. Swapped mine only to get one with a dead pixel somewhere else and now I also have the dreaded yellow cloud towards the bottom of the screen. So count yourself lucky if that's the worst of your problems. Take care.

I was thinking the same thing. The way the OP explained it, it sounds like it's not even noticeable. BTW I was told that yellow cloud will improve as time goes on.

Yellow cloud?
I've heard of these dead pixels and light leakage issues. I don't see any dead pixels, but I work nights too so my phone is always at lowest brightness setting.
Think if I knew I had one it would drive me crazy staring at it, lol. Anyone have a pic of what one looks like, maybe zoomed in?

Judging from the review on the market, NO. But, I haven't used it personally. however, I would think if something bad happened, you would see a ton of bad reviews talking about this.
HI, I just wanted to add something to the list of problems that the new evo is having, yesterday i went to the sprint store to buy an evo lte, but i couldnt take any home, since all of them were plagued by dead pixels, the sprint rep open six boxes and all of them had a least one dead pixel, I went home very frustrated i cant understant how HTC uses cheap screens on its premiun devices, I am one of the guys that cant stand to know to have a dead pixel on my screen, since once you know its there is a pain not to look at it. So i will keep going to every sprint store until i find one with no dead/stuck pixels. It may take months but ill be worth it. I personally suggest and encourage that you guys download the app called dead pixel test, and try to find any dead/stuck pixels on your screens if you do find some, take your device to sprint and return it, and get a new one without any deffect, lets make htc to stop giving us cheap quality parts in our premiun devices, we are paying a lot of money so we deserve to have a device with not deffects. I can understand a dead pixel on a tv screen because is big, but on a small screen is unacceptable!!!. Please tell me what you guys think about it, and please bear with my english since is not my first language. Thank you

Dead pixels and LCD screens go hand in hand. Its the nature of the beast. Just wait and see when the GS3 gets release.
I noticed last night that I had like 2 or 3 dead pixels
i can probably understand a dead/stuck pixel on a big screen but on a small screen is just unacceptable.
JFYI, I ran the dead pixel test on my old 3D and had some obvious ones on that phone, but I just ran it on this one and what I thought was a dead pixel was just a speck of dust. Kept thinking I was seeing them and kept being able to just wipe them off. Sounds dumb but try it.
well my experience with this phone has been a nightmare i have been to 5 sprint stores around my area including best buy, and i have checked 24 htc evos lte and all of them had a least one dead pixel on then, im really frustrated with htc for this, i really like the phone but im starting to think that all of you phones have a dead/stuck pixel as well but you havent check it throughly. i really want a evo lte but i not longer wish to fight with the sprint reps for going over and over and keep returning phones for this. i am not crazy maybe im just having bad luck, but its embarrasing going back to the store and all the reps looking at me like (i dont want to sell you anything), oh i really hate my luck. but i hate htc the most for using cheap screens on this phone.
Wow, I have a slight bit of the yellow cloud toward the bottom of my screen, and I thought about going to try and swap it... but from what I'm hearing about the amount of devices out there with dead pixels, I think I'm going to keep the one I have since there are no dead pixels on it. I've checked.
You may want to report these issues to Sprint either by calling them or by posting on their forums.
I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. My phone doesn't seem to have any issues at all. Curious to run that app, but don't want to be disappointed and find something wrong with my phone,,,

Ive been lucky since the hero. Had a dead pixel on that. But evo 4g, evo 3d and now evo lte with no problems

[Q] White pixel line on the display - Others with the same problem?

Hello everyone,
and thanks in advance for your help.
I would like to ask if you have ever seen a problem like that in the attachment.
I bought the Samsung Galaxy S3 just few days ago and within the first hours of utilization I found this white line on the display.
It is persistent with software and hard reset of the device.
The only way that I've found till now is to remove the battery for some time ( half an hour ), but after few hours the problem's still present.
It seems related to the "cool down" of the device.
I'm already thinking to give it back in assistance but I'd like to have some feedback if others had already the same problem.
Thanks!
this is abnormal, you should replace it asap.
The screen is fault. Go and replace it (the phone) .

Give it back.
DO NOT use words like warranty!!!!
State that the sold to you unit is not filling up the conditions of sale agreement.
Rationale:
If you'll go back to shop and claim the warranty, you'll stuck for several weeks and on return you'll have repaired/refurbished unit.
If you'll return it on the base of discrepancy with the selling agreement claim (faulty unit sold) - shop duty is to replace it or give you your money back (at least in EU).
I think my phone since yesterday has the same problem of the OP. I tried several apps from Play Store (claiming they could fix display issues) but without results.
My phone is old less than a month and it's all stock (XXELLA) except root...I'll post a pic if I try to capture it on my old phone camera.
Anyone else recently encountered this? Thanks in advance.

I think I'll go to make it check from a tech at a service centre (pic of the display: dl.dropbox. com/u/6492926/SNC00344.jpg)
But I was wondering...If the screen is AMOLED and a pixel (or more) die, should it be black (turned-off)? Here you can notice that the broken pixel line is white, also lighter than a white screen. As a note, the line is NOT visible when the background is full black but visible in the other cases, resulting more when the background color is very light.
I'm a bit disappointed :S
I don't think that a line can be caused by a pixel or more. There is more a cable or something inside the screen (or motherboard?). It's impossible to have a full line fault because of pixels.
If your phone is less than a month old go to the store you bought it or call Samsung. They should replace it. Don't let tech opening a new phone. They are not fixing the phone as better as Samsung itself. Mine had a chop inside the screen and they replaced it after two weeks I bought it (I've seen the chop in park, watching the screen under sunlight). The store replaced the device with no questions.

Love the phone but it has dead pixels

Got this beauty on launch day after calling up about 10 different tmobile stores!
I love this phone and its killing me to have these dead pixels especially because one of them is in the damn middle of the screen, the worst part is that it is sold out everywhere where I live so I cant even exchange it.
Get your **** together HTC and don't let your customers go through this frustration!!!
That sucks.
Hope when I get mine I don't have any issues like that.
Mine came in perfect, no issues whatsoever

I thought the same till I ran the dead pixel test.
Anyways i'm glad for you enjoy it, its an epic phone!
So hold on you was happy with your phone until you ran a test that told you had a dead pixel? Sounds like nitpicking to me!
I also have couple of dead pixels, only saw them when I ran the dead pixel app..otherwise can't see them...
I feel some are just reaching to find a issue with there phones. It would be different if it affects anything but if you can't see it and everything us works ok just be happy with your phone.
How about people stop making threads complaining and just exchange their device.

So I just noticed I have a dead pixel as well. I'm within my 14 day period but I unlocked my bootoader. Does anybody think I will get a problem from HTC when they get it back? I know they won't notice in store.

I had 2 stuck pixels on the bottom left corner of my screen, but I noticed one day they both went away.
Got mine a week after launch. Cant find any dead pixels. Are you guys going to exchange your phones?
If I had a bunch in the center of screen I'd replace it. If it's the same as my One X and I just have 1 or 2 in the corner I'd probably keep it.

I made an exchange, second unit has one dead pixel on the top left but I decided to keep it.
Mine had a piece of dust inside the digitzier assembly. Ironically it was not able to be shooken out due to the "goo" that is placed in the gap between the digitizer and the LCD to prevent dust. I went to exchange it and I am fine now. I was pretty bummed out because my girls didn't have any flaws lol.
I have two stuck green pixels in the middle of my screen. What's weird is that you can only see them in the dark. I ran a stuck pixel fixer to no avail.
It's past the 14 days and I bought my phone from eBay. Does anyone know if T-Mobile will replace it? If not, no big deal. I can live with a few green pixels. Plus it's rooted, so I don't think they'd replace it, even though it was there before rooting.
I have 3 dead pixels on my phone. I was at day 16 when I noticed it and T Mobile is graciously exchanging it for me.
Will they replace it if it's rooted, or should I un-root it first?

I would definitely un root the device before sending it back. From my understanding you can't re lock the boot loader so that is really just a crap shoot if you get a tech that actually checks those things.
